In this short story, we find Polly and Henry packed and ready for their honeymoon. After their last failed attempt, Henry intends to get her in the truck and out of Bellingwood as fast as possible, even if it means leaving right after work on Friday afternoon.
Join them as they travel a small part of the Mother Road (Route 66) and experience the beauty of the Grand Canyon and Utah's gorgeous scenery. From blue whales to sleeping in concrete wigwams, changing scenery along the way and interesting people, it's a trip they'll remember.
Will they manage to travel without any catastrophes or dilemmas? What do you think? Polly is always rescuing someone and you shouldn't expect her to do things differently just because she is far from home.
This is book 9.5 in the Bellingwood series, the 3rd or 4th short story. I loved travelling down Route 66 with Henry and Polly! And I never had to leave my home! And although Polly does have a character die on her, there are now 4 new characters and a new location added to the Bellingwood world 😊
I have been on this journey so could visualize the trip. My husband is a drive all nighter too when ho e is getting near. We raised a puppy from birth when her mom died having her. I read this one quickly.
Don't know how I missed this one. I've read the next two books and wondered about the honeymoon. Now I have just read three in a row! They never did set Aaron up with a fake murder. Giggle, wink!
Loved it, more please :) I found the series right before Christmas 2016 and finished the entire series by the first week in 2017.
I am so happy to find an author I love, but now I have to wait for the next book like the rest of Diane's fans. On the positive side, she appears to be very prolific and the next book will be out in March 2017 (17).
One Perfect Honeymoon: Bellingwood 8.5 was written by Diane Greenwood Muir. It takes place along Route 66 from Iowa to the Grand Canyon and beyond and back. Polly and Henry were finally getting to go on their honeymoon. They had planned to drive Henry’s thunderbird and drive Route 66 along with Nate and Joss; but it didn’t happen. First Nate and Joss had to back out because their adoption of a baby came through with twins! Then a tornado hit Bellingwood and they stayed to help it recover. Then dead bodies and Sarah’s cancer held them back. Finally they were on their way, alone. Polly and Henry had a wonderful time as they set out on their journey. It was Polly’s decision as to which sights to see on their travels. From Blue Whales to the National Bombing Memorial to the Grand Canyon. They took in all of the sights. Along the way, they picked up four passengers- four abandoned puppies. Nothing unusual for Polly.
It's October. Polly and Henry finally leave on their honeymoon - a trip down Route 66. What could possibly go wrong so far from home? Plenty! While stopped for dinner, they find four tiny abandoned puppies. Polly decides to rescue them. Despite caring for the puppies, they manage to see lots of sights, including the Grand Canyon. But when they get bad news from home, they cut their trip short and head back early...
What will Polly do with four more animals? More fun from Bellingwood in this short novel!
I fell in love with this series from the very start. I love all of the crazy characters. I can't wait to see what the series holds from here. I love the friendships and family relationships woven throughout the stories. This series will make you laugh and cry and definitely make you appreciate those special relationships you have in your life.
A nice short story about a honeymoon along part of Route 66. Polly's desire to rescue anything that appears in her path gets a little saccharine for my taste, and there is no way that her hubby would have been Ok with dragging 4 3 week old pups along for the ride. Just the logistics alone boggle the mind!
Polly and Henry are finally getting their honeymoon. They have a trip west planned, traveling the mother road, Route 66. Diane does a wonderful job describing the sights, sounds, and colors of this infamous highway. Is there a dead body? Of course, but not what you'll expect. A truly enjoyable book.
Well I can't say there wasn't a body that needed to be dealt with...she even found the need to do some rescuing on her honeymoon.
There is one thing I must say about Henry. His character has to be one of the most perfect men. I would say perhaps too perfect, yet I would like to believe there are men like that in this world and I just have not met them.
lovely book, enjoy the whole set up, nice people well fleshed out, a bit of a mystery and plenty of do-good and neighbourlyness.
I have just reread first 10 books in one go, which is something I don't usually do. To be honest I probably liked them even better this time. There is a lot of filler stuff, taking dogs for walks and eating and so on, but it just feels like comfy clothes.
Loved the traveling part..... like you could feel and see route 66 with Henry and Polly. Loved the references to John Wayne too..... and oh the puppies..... great story Diane..... hugs
I gave this only 4 stars just because it was too short (it is billed as a short story and has 1/2 the number of chapters as the regular Bellingwood books). Otherwise, I loved the story and will be anxiously awaiting the publication of #9, the next book in the series.
This is a superb series that I love. They make me laugh cry and think. Everything one needs from a good book. Even though this story is not in Bellingwood it still warms the heart.
I enjoyed it, but the constant "rescues" are getting a bit tiresome .... I guess I need for Polly to chill out a bit. A man like Henry, who would put up with all that, would be a rare find indeed.
Love all her Bellingwood books! They keep you wondering what will come next. Not looking forward to finishing book 14. I can't put one down until it's finished.
Friends told me about this series of books so I read the first 13 in about a week. They are fun, quick reads with a likeable cast and believable plots.
