Our Worlds #2

When Our Worlds Fall Apart

Rate this book
Love is complicated. Add in high school and it’s bound to get worse.
Kennedy Conrad spent her summer hiding from the world, leaving her plenty of time to relive every moment spent with Graham Black. Now at the start of her senior year, she has one goal. Avoid the boy who broke her heart. He seems to be everywhere she turns.
Letting go isn’t always the easiest thing to do.
Graham Black spent his summer parading around with nameless girls at endless parties. At the start of his senior year, he pretends to be okay with his choices and masks his pain, but Graham can’t escape the reminder of his own broken heart. Every time he turns around, she’s there.
Sometimes people come into your life for different reasons.
Someone new reminds Kennedy what she deserves, leaving Graham two choices: be pushed back into the shadows or fight for the only girl who’s ever understood him.
Can they find their way back as their worlds fall apart?

"We’re selfless when it comes to the other. There has never been any doubt of the love we share. It’s the type of love we feel even when our worlds aren’t connected, even when things seem impossible and broken. A love like ours, you fight for. A love like ours means we’ll always find each other."

Damn straight I've finished it!
If I haven't I wouldn't sleep whole night.
I needed to know what happened in the end.
It's little to say that I was slightly disappointed cuz you all know how I hate cliffhangers, especially when I adore this whole book.
This bloody thing made me cry.
Twice to be exact. And I don't often cry over a book.
I can't imagine what was in Ken and Grahams head but I wanted to jump in an smacked them over with the book or something.
They were so stubborn but sweet in the same time...
Gah...I'm blabbing in this wee hour.
I probably need to go and catch some sleep.
Promise me you're going to read this series.
Even if you don't love this kind of story...

All the Feels! I think I was in tears the whole book!
As you can see by all my highlights I love this authors words!
Kennedy and Graham are broken people and are trying to live without each other. This story is heart wrenching and also hopeful. It also allows you to see how you can heal yourself and become stronger.

“I want to thank you most of all for allowing me to grow, to learn, and to heal. If it weren't for you, I wouldn’t have been able to get off the ground.”

"You know how you said that you'd always love me?"
Graham nods.
"I'll always love you, too.."
"That's not enough for us though, is it?" Graham asks.
"Of course it's not," I whisper.
"Promise me you'll find your happy," he begs.

I cried so much reading this book. Every time Graham and Kennedy are with each other, reliving what happened in the past, talking about what they used to have, it just broke my heart. At first, I was happy that Kennedy has somehow found happiness with Mark. I don't care if he's Graham's best friend. Ken deserves someone great. There even was a point when I'm rooting for the both of them in the ending. I was kind of okay about Graham and Kacey, too, since the girl seems nice and she understands what Graham feels for Ken. It felt like it's good when they are not together.

I love Graham but I was kind of disappointed with him for walking away from Kennedy when she needed him the most. And that he is not good enough for Ken because that girl will seriously do everything for him. But just like Kennedy, I couldn't help but love Graham. He is also hurting just as much as her. He has a different way of coping. I mentioned earlier that there was a point when I started rooting for Mark-Kennedy and Graham-Kacey but some events made me realize that even when Graham and Kennedy are not together, they still belong to each other.

"I've learned to have a little faith because life has a way of working in mysterious ways sometimes, Kennedy. You just need to believe those meant to find you, will, and I promise I was born to find you."

When Our Worlds Fall Apart is a great continuation of Graham's and Kennedy's story. If I didn't know that there would be a third book, I would say that I am pretty satisfied with the couple's ending. But I agree with the author, they have a lot of growing up to do. I am super excited and looking forward to reading the third book. I am definitely a Lindsey Iler fan already!

YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!

WOW... PHEW... I am emotionally drained. This book makes me believe the saying "there is a fine line between love and hate". And to help you understand this is why:

This books starts with Kennedy and Graham trying to cope with everything that has happened to them during their junior year; the accident, their relationship, betrayals, abuse, the rape... While Kennedy is in her room trying to hide from the world, Graham that walked away from Kennedy is with a different girl every night, he basically goes back to his man-whore behavior.

Eventually Kennedy starts dating Mark a.k.a Graham's best friend (like WTF?) and this is when I get royally pissed. I know she deserves to move on and be happy considering everything but going out with your ex's best friend is not the way to cope. Do not get me started with Mark, who I would bitch-slap so hard if I could. Anyways, Kennedy's strength and kindness should be appraised however while she is cuddling with Mark, Graham is miserable (my heart weeps for him). I literally get sick to my stomach every time Mark and Kennedy are together, even worse when they kiss. aghhhhhh.....

Yes, Graham is guilty on some level because I do believe he gave Craig the perfect opportunity to take advantage of Kennedy and he was being an asshole the night it happened, I really hated him at the end of the first book. However, this book just made me love him so much. You can see him struggle with his guilt and try to do what he thinks is best for Kennedy. He literally puts his happiness aside trying to ensure Kennedy has it. All he does, even though he is not doing it right, comes from a good place.

All the time I was reading this book I was on an emotional rollercoaster. I hated Kennedy for dating Mark but loved her for her strength. I hated Graham for being stupid and not fighting for Kennedy, but loved him for his intentions and not being selfish (how can you hate Graham Black???). I loved Violet for rooting for them. And Mark.... I hated him all the way. I just wanted to punch him and drag him away from Kennedy, and at the same time punch Graham and drag him towards Kennedy.

Throughout the book, many things happen with Kennedy's dancing, Graham's abuse history, their university choices, Craig hurting another girl and so on. They are constantly thrown in each other's paths no matter how hard they try to cope without one another. Thankfully, the ending is a sort of HEA (still unsure of what happens when they go to college).

Knwowing there is going to be a third book I am both excited and dreadful. I cannot wait to read of how they get their happy ever after, but still fearing if they are going to be eah others happy ever after. For now I will just imagine it myself... they get married, chaise their dreams and have the most beautiful kids.

I love Kennedy and Graham!!! I just want to take them and put them someplace safe, free of the evil of this world, fill them with joy and happiness, because they deserve it more than anyone else.

What can I say??? I love this book, this series. I want so much for Graham and Kennedy to get their sh$& together! It's just like teens to make things harder and more complicated than they need to be. The back and forth, the angst...ugh! I want their HEA now! But like most things, good things come to those who wait!!!

Graham...you want to throttle him the same time you want to hug him. Just like Kennedy, you can see he has the potential to be a wonderful person. He just needs to believe in himself. I just hate watching the process it will take him to get there. I have to believe he will get there.

Kennedy, I love her. She has been thru hell and back and still stays strong and true to her character. She has a lot of faith in Graham. At times you want her to continue to fight for Graham and others you want to tell her to move on to what she deserves. She definitely deserves someone epically worthy of her goodness.

Violet and Dan are great friends and would love for them to be in my corner!

I anxiously wait for the 3rd and final book of the Graham and Kennedy saga. I want their HEA so bad I can taste it. I just hope I don't see the same drama that normally comes with these types of book.

I have only put the blurb for the first book in the series when our worlds collide as I don't want to give to much away in my review, I have to say these books absolutely broke me then put me back together there emotions and feeling I felt as if I was feeling them as well.
Kennedy's character throughout these books is so strong and brave I absolutely loved her character, I also loved Graham's character even though I thought he was a douche at first he wangled his way into my heart. Another character I wanted to mention is violet, Kennedy's best friend I loved how she was loud and confident and I found her funny at times also.
I'm not going to go in to much as it's a four books and I don't want to give much away but honestly once I started I couldn't stop I had to keep reading until all four books were read and now I'm at a loss for what to read next I more!!

Even though this was beautifully written, I was just so frustrated by their choices, especially Graham’s. Throughout the book, there were countless of times where I would get so frustrated by his actions just to ‘protect’ her from him, which was unnecessary obviously. However, it was just as touching as the first one. Mark seems like someone who is genuinely good and I was a little disappointed to be honest that she couldn’t let go of Graham to love him even when Graham had done a lot of really terrible things. The way they tried surviving without being with each other was so painful to read but I really liked this. 4 stars :)

5 BROKEN HEART STARS!! This is the second book in the series and my heart is still hurting for Graham and Kennedy. They are both so broken, but love each other so much. Their connection is so strong you can feel it through the pages. This love story was painful, but beautifully written by Lindsey Iler. If you have not started this series I highly recommend it.

I am loving this series. This is the second book, and we get to see the aftermath of the tragedy from the last book. It's been a tough senior year for Kennedy and Graham as well as their friends. This is a great ya series that is branching out. The author does a great job taking on some really touchy subjects. over all fantastic read. Told in dual POV.

Oh my, oh my, oh my. So in a way this book also reminded me of Nicole Williams "Crash Series" and I anticipated that the first book would leave us hanging coming into the second book, it's what you expect out of a series of this nature. I did not anticipate what actually occurred in this book. Wow, I don't want to say the drama was pull your hair out but oh my goodness it was a never ending ball of tension. Knowing that there's a third book in the series all I kept thinking of is where is this book taking me. Like most books, you know they're eventually going to end up together again but oh my goodness what a ride we were taken on. As much as it was tension throughout the book I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like no other second book I've ever read before. It kept me completely enthralled and highly anticipating where this was going to go and how the third book was going to turn out. I really liked the involvement of the secondaries and I think it really kept the book moving and I like the fact that events weren't overlooked. I'm just really enjoying this series and I cannot wait to jump into book 3. I hope you enjoy it too.

When Our Worlds Fall Apart picks up months after the end of When Our Worlds Collide. It begins with Kennedy hiding out all summer trying to deal with the aftermath of her rape as well as the end of her and Graham’s relationship. Right away I struggled with the reason Kennedy and Graham broke up. Graham thought he wasn’t good enough for her, or he thought he would hurt her, or loved her but not enough? I wanted a clear answer for their separation, but all I got was a lot of angsty hair pulling. Of course, this did give Graham the chance to have some super sweet one-liners which I loved.

“Life’s no fairytale, but if it were, you and I would be an epic one.”

If you’re hoping for a lot of Kennedy and Graham action, it’s pretty low-key. Of course, there’re lots of run-ins with each other where they either profess their love or try to push each other away, but we don’t get a lot of relationship time. In that way, I felt that this book was more of a transition between their story in high school and what I can only guess will be their story in college. I did enjoy Kennedy’s relationship with Mark, however. He was a sweet guy and at one point I was even rooting for him and Kennedy over Kennedy and Graham.

One problem I continue to have is the age of the characters vs. their actions. It was during the spring break in Cancun that I realized if the characters were in college it would have explained their attitudes, problems, and interaction with adults much better.

“You shouldn’t have done that.”

I lean down and whisper, “Kennedy, I shouldn’t have done a lot of things in my life. Kissing you isn’t one of them.”

Even though I had a few problems, I liked When Our Worlds Fall Apart. If you enjoyed the first book, you’ll definitely want to read When Our Worlds Fall Apart. Look for the next book in Kennedy and Graham’s story to be released later this year.

When I look back on high school, I’m not going to remember the championships and the parties. I’ll remember watching Kennedy on stage and the way she felt beneath me. I’ll remember what it sounds like to hear someone tell me she loves me and means it.

I’ll remember this moment forever.

I was already in love with Graham and Kennedy when I picked up this book and knew I would immediately love it!! No disappointment what so ever!! Yes there are times I was ready to strangle the two of them but I think that made me love them more. At the end of the day I think what they both know is that no matter what when a love like theirs is involved life can be complicated, but it can also be worth it. I'm not saying either one is perfect but they are perfect for each other. And seriously let me gush about Kennedy for a minute because this girl, she's on kick ass girl with a good head on her shoulders! Her capacity to forgive and to love the people who mean the most make her pretty incredible. Who can resist a book with all of that? I know I can't!

Wonderful follow up to book one. We pick up exactly where we left off, with Graham back to his male whore ways and Kennedy dealing with the rape.

Kennedy finds solace in an unexpected place with Mark, Graham's BFF. And Graham discovers moving on from Kennedy isn't as easy as he thinks it will be.

The story moves well, if not in a predictable way. It's a fairly easy read. If you like this genre then you will definitely enjoy this book. I enjoyed Kennedy's self-discovery and healing process. I appreciated the ending not being tied up into your typical HEA bow. I would enjoy a follow up book with maybe them away at college...

Second wasn't what I expected, but still good

It wasn't what I anticipated it would be, and the beginning didn't reel me in like I was hoping, but it pulled me under fast enough to where I didn't feel like I was suffering. After the beginning hump, I loved it. It just got better and better; curious to see how the next one is going to pan out. I felt like the end of this one didn't leave a good cliffhanger though. Hmm. Although I did spend my entire night reading this book instead of sleeping, so I'm positive part of this is from sleep deprivation.
Bottom line- read it, you'll love it if you finished the first one already :)

This is so hard to review. I absolutely love this series. I laughed and cried in book one. I laughed and cried in book 2. I love everything about it. Kennedy and Graham are so real to me. I felt book one for weeks. That's how strong of an impression they leave on your heart. Book 2 is no exception. They are two broken people trying to find there way. Basically it's just a must read series. So excited for book 3 even though I don't want it end.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION**

There is even more unnecessary drama in this book than there was in the last one.
But putting all of that aside, I am disappointed with the way this book didn't appropriately depict the struggles of a sexual assault survivor. Of course there isn't a set reaction or behaviour, but I was surprised to see that the first place she goes to after spending months recovering around at home, is a house party - the same house party that she got assaulted during .
And while Kennedy does have some "trigger" moments, she inexplicably gets over them a moment later. Her recovery isn't at all shown in this book.
The entire plot was about how Graham and Kennedy will always come back together - and yet, by the end, they still haven't even done that.

I don't expect to put it more time to read the next (3?) books in the series. If these guys haven't gotten their shit together yet, I'm sure the next few books will similarly drive me crazy with their drama llama.

Kennedy is left a drift after Graham gives her up. He blames himself for everything she has been through. She is left hiding after the rape and Graham is left to screwing everyone he can.
Violet finally convinces her to join society again by going to a party at Dan's where the rape took place. Which I find is weird that she is willing to go. She finds a new friend in Mark. Which is a little strange since he is best friends with Graham. Little by little he takes her mind off of Graham and she moves on with him. Her feelings never quite go away so she has a hard time moving things along with Mark.
For someone who still loves her ex I don't see how she can be so nice to him after he flaunts all of his hookups in front of her face constantly.
Why is it that Craig is able to roam freely after what he done and that he wasn't charged officially because they didn't believer Kennedy until he does it again?
They are back to being "together" but now its off to college what will happen next?

When Our World Falls Apart is book 2 in the Our Worlds series and must be read in order.

As with my review of book 1 this one will be short because I’m headed directly into book 3 for more of Graham and Kennedy.

This book picks up 4 months after the ending of book1.

Kennedy and Graham are now seniors and they show so much growth in this book whether from living through tragedy or becoming older and preparing to face life after high school the characters in this book are different from the kids they were as juniors in the previous book.

The feels that flow through the pages from these characters will wrap their way around your heart and invoke every feeling from it as if you are the one these things are happening to.

Lindsey Iler has a superb ability to create a world on the pages and with her storytelling ability can strip away reality and make you feel as though you are a part of the story.

Watching others in pain seems to be fun for this author. In book 2, Kennedy and Graham work to put their own lives together - separately. Torn apart by tragic events, and a misguided sacrifice, Graham returns to his man whore ways, and Kennedy tries to learn to live without him. The author tortures both of these characters during this book, as both characters are too stubborn and hurt to confront one another about the truth - the fact they still love one another deeply. In their quest to move on, they try and fail to get into relationships with other characters. Once again tragic events force them together again, but for how long? Great book.

Graham is bae

Book 2 of Kennedy and Graham's story didn't disappoint.. even if I found myself wanting to throw my phone across the room every other chapter. Things weren't going like I wanted and it was driving me mad. In hindsight, I know what happened needed to happen for their characters to grow, but it was SO painful to sit through. Their story is so beautifully sad. On to book 3 now!

When Our Worlds Fall Apart, the second Book in the Our Worlds series by Lindsey Iler, was absolutely, heartbreakingly, wonderful! I cried my eyes out as Graham and Kennedy struggled to move on from the awful, earth shattering events that drowned them in book one. I highly recommend anyone who loves first loves, heartbreaks, finding yourself, and baseball (of course) to jump into this series. It won't disappoint!
