Great nonfiction for 2nd grade (or early 3rd grade) reader (level M). Kids will love the topic & pictures. Good design -- with clear headings & organization, not too much text on a page (breaks up reading), and support with captions & labels. Pair this with Ruff's Guide to Caring for your Dog by Anita Ganeri, which is slightly easier reading (level L), or with Love Your Dog by Judith Heneghan, which is a little harder (4th grade). Definitely recommended.
