Am I ever glad that I read this novel. An android?! I have never readanything like it and I'm not crazy about science - fiction (BOY HAS MY MIND EVER CHANGED). It was my first time reading a D.S. Wrights novel and I can HONESTLY say I'm impressed. This novel was written well with regards to the style, the dialogue, and the plot. It takes a talent and a special kind of person to be a story - teller and D.S. Wrights has nailed it! As for the story .. I am a complete sucker for forbidden romance #SorryNotSorry. I can't say much about the story line as it was straight forward. Straight forward being that it had it's rising/ climax/ falling action and was structured accurately. So why not the 5 stars? .. Only 4 because it didn't have the "WOW" factor or just didn't go that "extra mile". Adrian is Karissa's bodyguard in essence and is assigned to protect her. Feelings begin (OR have always been) to develop which is nearly impossible as Adrian is a ROBOT? Is he just programmed to mimic these feelings or is it "REAL"? I would recommend the novel because it's at a perfect length .. not too short nor too long.

Ever since I discovered D.S. Wrights and her first published novel The Beast In Me, she has quickly become one of my favorite erotic authors to read. So when I learned she was writing a sexy science fiction tale I wasn't worried if I was going to enjoy the contents. If fact, I couldn't wait to see how she tackled the science fiction world. I was not disappointed.
Circuit Heart is gripping tale of Karissa aka Kara, the virginal, lonely, and insecure 21 year old who falls in love with a machine. By the tender age of 11, Kara experiences the loss of her twin brother and mother . Four years after the death of her brother and mother, Kara's scientist father replaces her human bodyguard with an artificial intelligence (AI) android name Adrian because of the circumstances surrounding Kara's brother's death.
Kara, not having many real friends and wanting love develops feeling for Adrian. A candid conversation with her protector/lover leaves Kara feeling guilty.
I loved how Adrian loved and protected Kara, even against her father. True to any other D.S. Wrights work, the sex scenes are steamy.
Secondary characters (Anya and Conner) also make this read interesting and add an additional layer. What I really admired about reading this book is the transformation Kara goes through. In the beginning she seems feeble- ready to accept anybody who glances her way. By the end of the story, she's has found her voice, her confidence, her place.
If you're interested in erotic science fiction I would definetly give this book a try. It will give you a futuristic sexual high.

Circuit Heart is like Artificial Intelligence . An android developed coded to protect and imitate human behavior and ending more like human, the lines and distinction blurring except for the fact that it was made of chrome. It is also more close to my favorite animé - Chobits . The human falling for her android and the android developing emotions and irrational thinking that are eerily like a human.
I guess it is one of the main reasons why I am drawn to this book. But aside from that, I’ve also come to like the characters in this story.
Karissa is too human for her own good with emotional outbursts at time and making irrational decisions more often. Experienced a traumatic event at a young age, she has mood swings and anxiety triggers.
Adrian is one fascinating android. I guess I get him because of Chi (Chobits), there is so much innocence in him even though there is so much information on him. Although I don’t really understand the intricacies of his coding or the materials that was used to make him a reality, it still somehow draws me to him. But, the hurt that he had to go through? It broke my heart no matter the irrationality of it.
“As long as I am what I am, I will be afraid that one day there will be someone who comes along that reminds of the fact that I’m nothing more than an object, built to serve and protect you, unworthy of any feelings you might have for me now.”
“I’m still jealous of Connor. I’m jealous of everyone with skin, because I cannot make you feel my touch like you should. And I’m mad at you for making me human, because it hurts like hell.”
What I enjoyed the most, well aside from

I received this book as a prize in GE Anniversary Event and I am so happy that I’ve chosen this book. I wasn’t actually expecting anything because I was new to the author. It’s a bonus that I’ve come to love this book.

This book poses an interesting question that will one day affect the human race. What part will androids play in the lives of future generations, and will the ultimate android replace the sex toy as the human races favourite entertainment. 'Never,' did I hear you say. Bet you once thought that about sex toys, 'never' you said back then perhaps, until your friends told you what you were missing out on. Now many wouldnt be without them, so can an android become the sex toy of the future?
Most probably, after all they would certainly become the per4fec t companion would they not?
But what of the ethical concerns? The realisation that an android could rival or overtake the human race, become a dominant species maybe, for all sentient beings and even plant-life has but one overriding function in life, reproduction.
D.S Wrights book however raises other questions. Can an android develop feelings, and can a human being reciprocate those feelings, sexually or otherwise?
This look at that prognosis is a well thought out piece of fiction that takes us into that situation and onward to its conclusion. Its written with true feeling and explores facets of the unnatural relationship which are somewhat revolutionary but also most intriguing. Only with the advent of written Erotica in recent years can such a story be written and I applaud the writer for tackling this subject with such true empathy.
If you're looking for something new and different than give this book a try. Its ground breaking in its subject matter and a glimpse of a world which some of the youngest among us may one day take for granted.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review... but let me begin by saying I'm buying the print version just as soon as it becomes available! (Yes, I'm old school like that, what can I say? When I find a book I know I want to read again, I like to have it in good ol' paperback. ;) )
This is absolutely my favorite book from D.S. Wrights so far! I admit, I'm a sucker for robots/androids and I've been looking forward to this story since it was announced but I really fell in love with Adrian! This is Kara's story but it's Adrian's circuit heart that powers it as he explores what makes us human. When is love an emotion and not just a programmed response?
But, as I said, this is Kara's story and, from her p.o.v., we follow her on her own journey as she attempts to overcome the nearly crippling fears and anxieties that grew from a pair of tragedies in her past. It was very easy to relate to her and her stress and insecurities felt natural and understandable, never melodramatic or overdone.
The supporting characters were also enjoyable. I honestly thought I had Connor pegged from the moment he waltzed in and was prepared to thoroughly dislike him and then ended up loving him!
As I've said before, I really enjoy this author's unique and interesting voice and I would love to see this universe expanded up in future stories as other androids make their way into the world. And I certainly wouldn't mind spending more time with Kara and Adrian!

Wow....!!
I liked the chemistry between the characters. The way Adrian cares for her, protects her, understands her, the pain they feel for each other, it touched my heart.

This was a fantastic book, i mean completely amazing! Once again, author D.S Wrights has done a superbilicious job (yeah i know that's not even a word in dictionary LOL) and has proved her outstanding writing skills.
This book touched me in do many ways i can't express in words, it was such a page turner I couldn't put it down.
I had so many emotions gripping me throughout the read. Oh it's magnificent.
I liked the story line, I have read this concept for the first time, A Robot, An Android, ohh I loved it. I strongly believe that author D.S.Wrights has this quality of versatile writing, all her books are very different from what we usually read.
The story is about Karissa Larke who has lost her twin brother in an attempt of kidnapping and her mother who attempts suicide, when Karissa was only 11 years old. She is the only daughter of a billionaire, owner of Larke Robotics. He designs a Robot as a bodyguard for Karissa, named Adrian. I LOVED him. Her life is tough, she is too lonely, too scared to form relationship with anyone...Except HIM. Except Adrian
As the story progresses their relationship builds up into something more than they were meant to be. It was impossible to have a relation they had, in a world they lived in.

I received a ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is the story of Karissa Larke who has lost her brother to a failed kidnapping and mother to suicide, both in a short amount of time. The book takes place in 2051 and Karissa is 21 and has an issue with social anxiety she was kept in home schooling till she was 15. She was given a personal security android for protection, she finds that she only feels safe with him which doesn't help with breaking out of her shell. This is the story of a young woman and her robot Adrian and the bonds and life that they have with the other.
I give this a four star rating. That was not an easy choice for me for the fact that this was not a topic I would choose to read everyday. I was very unsure when I started to read if I was even going to like it. D.S. did it again she told a story that you can feel yourself falling in love with the characters. It shocked me in a way I wasn't sure how to react to, but yet I go back to what I just said about loving the characters and that made any shocking moments ok.
I really like the way that D.S. opens your eyes to a new world with every book, and his is no exception. Her writing style is something that I enjoy. I feel like a lot of books that I read are basically the same maybe different place and name but I find myself really into D.S. books because they have that little something extra.
I hope that you will give this book a chance, it will definitely take you on a very interesting ride.

Wow, I mean WOW.. I love this book. I seem to love most anything DS Wrights writes. All of her books are full of fresh ideas, fresh outlooks, immensely entertaining and so hard to put down. Set in the future, our Leading man is a "robot" of sorts. Adrian is Karissa's bodyguard.
Dee writes her characters with love, intensity and detail. I am in awe. I was only disappointed it wasn't longer, but nothing was missing.

Four stars for a great read. Lovely prose, wonderful characters. Kept me interested to the end.
Just one teeeeny tiny quibble...... (and this is my OCD coming out here)
'His response to that was coding the prototype of his Artificial Intelligence Division for Risk Assessment and Natural Behaviourism to protect me - yes, like anyone really wanted it to spell ADRIAN..'
- implying that the acronym was used to name the android?
But it doesn't! It spells...... AIDRAN ( I can ignore the 'B' at the end)

Wow what a read? Very different for me. First let me say that I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I've been staring at this page for awhile now trying so hard to figure how I will get this out in adequate words and not ruin this experience for anyone else. The whole concept of this book was pretty unique. I've read many and none have quite made an impression such as this. Karissa the daughter of a scientific pioneer gets placed in charge of her bio mechanic protecter. Six years of intimate experiences have thrown these two together in a most peculiar way. They share a most unorthodox love. I enjoyed how Karissa was so naive and headstrong. Her thoughts and convictions on the love she had for Adrian were clearly fleshed out. Adrian as a protector gave me the impression that he would never give up on being at her side. The actions of a man/bot in love not so much so. However with that being said, I felt a little weirded by the relationship. I think maybe if the story was a bit longer it could have touched on a few more issues and been a little more persuasive but overall a pretty decent a story.

I received this ABC in exchange for an honest review and I have to say that I was curious as to how this story would turn out because I've never read a story that had a human falling for a robot but I really enjoyed the story. I was imagining Adrian more as a robotic type but not so I saw him as more of a human type robot and it made the book much easier to read and enjoy.
When Karissa was young she lost her twin brother in a kidnapping and soon after her mother from suicide. After all this, her father designed a robot as her personal bodyguard. Both characters spent so much time together that things started to change within Karissa and their relationship changed and progressed for the better.

WOW. I never thought I'd be attracted to a robot... well, until I saw Marvel's Age of Ultron AND read this book.
This story doesn't really waste much time on looking back into the past, just quickly explains how the current situation originated and I like that. Circuit Heart is a quick, heart-warming, almost philosophical and HOT read.
Whoever has fantasized over Ultron or the Vision will be very happy.

I got this from the Goodreads A Little Bit of Everything Hot group for review and it’s a really good read! Ripped through it in a few hours.
Review: This is an excellent story, well written, good rounded characters and a great plot: if we start creating machines that can think, learn and adapt, at what point do they become human? And what happens when you fall in love with someone who is the property of a corporation? Think Asimov crossed with some pretty hot sex. Def recommended.

It was beautifully well written. I have never felt so loved by a book before. I have been looking for books that caught my interest and amazingly this one caught my eye. I fell in love while reading the summary and the character that inspired the author to write this awesome book. I totally recommend this book and I am reading it again for th 2nd time.

I wanted to read this because of—or maybe in spite of—the plot sounding similar to The Silver Metal Lover. I've never read a book that does justice to robot love the way Tanith Lee did, but it never hurts to try. However, his book was so poorly written that I couldn't read a single page without getting frustrated by grammatical mistakes, and I decided I didn't want to read a whole book of that. The end.

Book gifted to me in exchange for my honest review. This book was a first for me because I have never read another one like it. It is well written and for sure makes your imagination stretch. The only down side I had was the ending, there should have more detail into it instead of the wall you hit and are left with more questions then are answered

I had high, high hopes for this book. It had a couple good lines, but it was definitely a train wreck.
My first problem with Circuit Heart is the biggest turn off. The literacy of the author is nonexistent. Her grammar and punctuation mistakes are off the charts bad. I've seen punctuation mistakes before here and there in other books, and they can get annoying at times. But combine that with horrible and awkward grammar mistakes like sentence fragments done completely wrong and sentences that don't make a lot of sense and need rewording...and you get a book that is REALLY hard to read. Self-publishing might seem like a good thing, but when you read Circuit Heart, you'll be wishing the author paid the extra bucks to hire a good editor, because the author seems to have no idea what spell-check is, no idea how important drafts are, and no idea of the necessity of having someone else pre-read your story before publication. Seriously, I am writing on and on about something NON-STORY related. When that happens, you know something's up! Maybe you won't catch onto the horribleness of the grammar and punctuation because you don't write or read in your free time, and that's fine.
But then there's part 2 of the horrible literacy of D. S. Wrights. The story is told in PRESENT TENSE. Unless the story is told through diary entries or the like, then MAYBE it can be pulled off. But you don't dare do present tense stories nowadays. They must be handled well or else they really disconnect me as a reader from the story because it feels jolted and unrealistic. I can't tell you how many times I've had to reread sentences because I couldn't immediately grasp the context because I am so unused to present tense storytelling (and also the grammar is so horribly done).
Here's the second reason why this book doesn't work. I can't find myself caring for Karissa Larke...like, at all. I know this has been talked about in other reviews, and it's definitely a problem. Karissa is a blob of nothing. She's alone a lot, but she's not suffering deep depression. She harbors resentment towards her father, but never tries to talk to him about it or do anything about it. She doesn't have a social life, so she'll get wasted and party with strangers...because reasons. She doesn't have a love life, so she decides that she wants Adrian, her android bodyguard because...she realized she had feelings for him?
Which brings me to a question that I don't know if it was answered in the book...why did Adrian want Karissa? He's coded to protect her, so did that bias him to desire her in ways other than her safety and comfort? So what if she looked at him and it made him feel his first emotion...what was that based on? Just knowing her and protecting her for a few years? I feel like her character was so bland that he didn't have feelings for her for who she was, but simply because he was her protector and companion. She taught him how to be human, so she was like a sibling/mentor/friend to him. Literally anyone could have been that for him, so it wasn't anything unique about Karissa other than the time they spent together that caused for him to have feelings for her.
Here's the third problem I had with the book. The book takes place over like 3 days of nothing but mild psychological and emotional drama (plus sexy time with our Mains). I wanted at least mild action. But the book is way too short to be taken seriously. If it was a short book about the deep psychological trauma of being a human trapped inside a robot body, with fantastic and expert writing that keeps you on edge and keeps you invested, then I don't care if this book is 300 pages or 100 pages. But this book was short and you felt it because it is very poorly written and executed. I wanted to like Adrian, but I felt like there needed to be better explanation for his sudden emergence of feelings.
In I, Robot, Sonny's personality and emotions are explained through Dr. Lanning's hypothesis of "ghosts in the machine", in which AI will eventually evolve on its own, creating the sense of self, or a soul.
The whole heart of the story was touched on, but needed better explanation and expansion like in I, Robot. The following parts of the book were good, but were very few and far between. The book should have more of this, and less of...pleasure and boring nothingness.
1.) "Adrian, Just be yourself...."
"I have no idea who that is."
2.) "As long as I am what I am, I will be afraid that one day there will be someone who comes along that reminds you of the fact that I'm nothing more than an object, built to serve and protect you, unworthy of any feelings you might have for me now."
3.) "...I'm jealous of everyone with skin, because I cannot make you feel my touch like you should. And I'm mad at you for making me human, because it hurts like hell."
Great lines, but not enough to give the book more credit. It is a good enough attempt at doing a romance while incorporating in AI, free will, and self-identity in a developing world of tech and industry. But it is NOT worth your time and money.
Also...one HUGE turn-off was the bisexual dude who came around in the story and offered to "watch" or "join" the next time Adrian and Kara had sexy time... LIKE EWW!! CREEP! Run home to your gutter, you rat!! And Kara actually CONSIDERED IT for a split second!! Like I needed another excuse to throw this book in the trash!
You know what...screw it. Just watch Chappie or I, Robot. Those are better stories that handle self-identity, AI, and free will a LOT better than this crap. I won't even bother talking about the lame ending of the book. It's not worth my time, or yours, to talk about. This book isn't worth it. So, seriously. Please enjoy the much superior stories of Chappie and I, Robot. At least those truly have a circuit heart at the center of their stories instead of the abomination this book made me suffer through.

I liked that Adrian (male mc) was not over humanized, there were little constant reminders throughout of him being an android, either by his appearance or through mannerism. I also liked how the author left it open for the reader to make their own judgement if Adrian feels emotion, or if it simply a matter of his A.I. mimicking human emotion.
Something bad:
I didn't care for Karissa (female mc). The majority of the book is spent in her head, getting her view point, & inner monologue. Since she is a naive and sheltered young woman, it was a bit too tedious for me.
Overall:
Not a bad book, I just couldn't relate to the heroine.

wow! This book hits on all kinds of really in-depth issues! Intriguing and engaging, it touches on some really well thought out dilemmas! I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say, you have to read it!

It was soooooooooooo much better than I was expecting, I think I go grab the rest of this author's books because it was just that awesome. Tad bit weak on worldbuilding, but the characters were so interesting to me that it was nothing to overlook. Really loved the dynamics. HOT.

I received the ARC in exchange for an honest review
I chose the book because I was looking for something a little different than what I normally read. I finished the book today, my first thought of the book when I started the book was correct. It does remind me of the movie “Bicentennial Man”. I did have a hard time finishing the book. I did get a little to confuse about the transition from body guard to a sex partner to be a very quick transition. I did like the way Adrian protected her even though he knew what they were doing was wrong and that he try to stop the company from try to take his memories and put them into new robots for other people to have the same protection

The start was a little slow... For me at least.. But as the story went on i fell in love with Adrian myself!
This is about a love that is so forbidden and probably frowend upon but on the other hand so pure!
The story is set in the future and about a girl who falls in love with someone she actually shouldnt...

Wow, what a great story! I could not put it down. I was wondering how the author was going to make this story believable but she totally did. If you haven't read a D.S. Wrights book please do. I really like her writing style.

Not what I expected
This was not what I expected. I thought it was just a sci-fi android book. It had a lot of steamy scenes added in. Pleasantly surprised.

A sci-fi, forbidden romance between an AI bodyguard and a girl with a traumatised past. It has a surprisingly good, emotional plot and character exposition for such a short book with an Erotica tag (which IMO is likely a mistake). I probably should have given it 3 ~ 3.5 stars due to its need for proper editing, but I'm always a bit biased towards sci-fi stories so 4 stars it is, then.

I was asked to give an honest review of this book, by the author, so here goes:
Pros: The story flowed very well. It was well written and kept the reader engaged. When I first received it I was told that it was about a taboo-ish relationship between human and Android. Even though that was the case, the author went to great lengths to explain why this relationship might be acceptable in the heroine's personal circumstances. I enjoyed this book, it was a fast and easy read that was a little different than what I am used to.
Cons: I would have preferred more graphic, descriptive language about what the characters looked like. Also I wish that you would have gotten the story based on the Android's perspective from time to time.
Conclusion: I would recommend this book to anyone who reads erotica. It was different bit not so different that most erotica readers would not enjoy it.

I was really interested in this book after reading the plot because I'm a sucker for android/human romance novels. However, this book is nearly impossible to read because it is SO POORLY WRITTEN. It reads like a stream of consciousness with poor grammar and punctuation. There were some paragraphs that were so long and held so many trains of thought that I couldn't remember what the beginning of the paragraph was about. The first chapter ends so abruptly and in such an odd place that I had to reread it multiple times to see if I was missing something. There were so many forced, random bouts of exposition that would completely drain any emotional impact out of a situation. Seriously, I felt like I was reading a bad fan-fiction...

This was just the story I was looking for!! So good, I really loved it! There were some occasional errors in the text and the writing at times felt amateur but overall that didn’t bother me and thus I’m still happy to give this read 5 stars!
