I think one of my favorite things about Turner’s books is that I always learn new French bad words. And as someone with a French degree, I really appreciate that. They didn’t teach those in class! 😜

I loved this one! It was a sweet and easy read. This one flowed really well, with a good balance of build up, spice, and action. I do wish the twins had been a little more up front with Melinda. But overall I liked this one a lot!

I do recommend reading book 1 first. And I highly recommend her other series which takes places generations before this one. That series has my whole heart!

Synopsis: Wolf-shifter twins Pierre and Louis are skilled hackers, tracking an enemy targeting their pack when they discover another hacker, Melinda, who was hired to hide the adversary’s identity. Before they can process the bond, Melinda is attacked in her apartment by a member of an anti-supernatural vigilante group, prompting the twins to rescue her and take her to San Francisco for safety. While Melinda recovers, Pierre and Louis secretly hack her computer to uncover information about her mysterious client. Melinda believes she’s protecting a victim of domestic abuse, but the twins know the client is actually the enemy witch against their pack. A planned meetup turns into a deadly trap, forcing the brothers to reveal their wolf forms to protect Melinda. Overwhelmed, she pulls away, but slowly opens her heart as she learns about werewolves. Unfortunately, Melinda discovers the twins used her to get to the witch. She feels betrayed and leaves them, only to be kidnapped by her former client, who hopes to lure the brothers into an ambush. Pierre and Louis track her down and save her, though the witch escapes. Reunited and stronger than before, the three reconcile, and the twins turn Melinda into a werewolf so they can share their lives together.

Thoughts: This was a quick and fun paranormal romance. Louis was lighthearted and quite the charmer, while Pierre was the more dominant and risk-averse twin. Their differences in personality complemented each other, and made them the perfect package deal for Melinda. Together, they provided the right amount of care and sincerity that she needed. The twins were constantly worried about finding someone who would look at them separately, and Melinda did just that. She proved herself to be their perfect mate and partner, when not only being able to tell them apart from the beginning, but also understanding what they each individually like and needed from her. I would have liked to have seen more groveling from the twins, after their betrayal is revealed. Melinda’s anger is justified, but her kidnapping and rescue put things into a different perspective for her. The trio really are each others’ idyllic matches, sharing many commonalities and undeniable passion. This book can be easily read on its own, but think reading others in this world would help in understanding the history and character interrelationships.

The Wolves and Their Cypher is the second book in the spinoff series following the modern day descendants of the 10th century werewolves chronicled in the excellent series The Wolves of Langeais by K.E. Turner. I was lucky to be gifted an advance copy by the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Computer wizard twins Louis and Pierre are trying to trace the whereabouts of their pack’s nemesis, a time travelling dark witch named Cordelia who is determined to end the Langeais wolf pack. Their investigations unearth a hacker working to help battered women escape bad marriages by creating new identities. Melinda Cheng has been taken in by Cordelia’s lies and is unknowingly helping her elude the wolves.

The story really heats up when Pierre and Louis rent an apartment in the same building as the hacker with the intention to ferret out her secrets. Imagine their surprise when they discover she is their mate! Will they be able to claim her while working to take her client down? And what will happen when she finds out they are responsible for the cyberattack that crippled her computer systems?

I liked the story as far as the witch and her plans to take down the wolves. I was not as crazy with the love story. I really felt like there was too much focus on the ménage à trois and their activities in the bedroom, with not as much focus on the characters themselves, especially the guys. We get a very moving backstory for Melinda, but only some personality traits and the sketchiest of history for Pierre and Louis. We definitely find out their kinks, and their yearning to find someone who sees them as individuals and can tell them apart. But there is no history to really make me fall in love with them. I would have loved to get glimpses of their childhood and what made them choose cybersecurity as a field. I really felt the guys deserved better treatment with their character development so as to be fully drawn heroes. This book falls short of other K.E. Turner books in that area.

These weaknesses aside, I recommend this book to all paranormal romance lovers and look forward to reading the next books in the series! K.E. Turner never fails to spin a great story!!

In "The Wolves and Their Cipher", book 2 in The Descendants series, the main plot continues. The pack’s tech-savvy twins, Pierre and Louis Montagne, are on a mission to hunt down Cordelia King, the evil time-travelling witch determined to wipe out the Langeais wolves. Since tracking the witch yields no results, as she’s constantly aided by a hacker supplying her with fake identities, the twins decide to target the hacker instead. That mission takes them to London, where they find their hacker, and much more than they bargained for… because the hacker turns out to be their fated mate.

Melinda Cheng, a skilled hacker with a tragic past (her abusive father killed her mother), now uses her talents to help domestic violence survivors by providing them with new identities. Melinda’s got her hands full, caught between protecting her new client, an older woman she suspects is trapped in an abusive marriage, and figuring out what to make of the two sexy, mysterious French twins who’ve just moved in next door.

Pierre and Louis are torn between fulfilling their mission to apprehend Cordelia and keeping their mate safe. They can’t tell her who they really are, what they’re after, or who her new client truly is. And as we know, secrets have a way of piling up and spilling out at the least convenient moment. The result? Melinda doesn’t know whom to trust, and her life is soon in danger. Cordelia and the Faucherians aren’t only working against the Langeais wolves’ attempt to send Isobella back in time to the 10th century, they’ve now also set their sights on Melinda.

It’s another great read from K.E. Turner, well-paced, spicy, and engaging. It wraps up with a satisfying HEA while dropping just enough breadcrumbs to tease what’s coming next in both series about the Langeais wolf pack, leaving readers eagerly awaiting the next instalments.

This story blends hacker intrigue, wolf-shifter chaos, and a spicy slow-burn-turned-bonfire romance that hooked me from the start.
Pierre and Louis are a riot two overconfident, smooth-talking French wolf shifters from Wolf Enterprise (yes, really). Pierre is the patient “let it build” type, while Louis is all about instant action and snacks (iykyk). Their dynamic is hilarious, charming, and full of chemistry.

Their mission leads them straight to Melinda Cheng, a quick-witted, observant, guarded hacker who is absolutely not the woman they expected. She’s sharp, intuitive, and impossible to fool. I loved how capable she is from the moment she steps on page. She reads situations instantly, notices details others miss, and has a past that adds emotional depth to every choice she makes. Also, she’s pegs the twins as the “hot-as-hell Hades twins,” which feels extremely correct.

From the second they meet, the tension is electric. Pierre and Louis are knocked off balance by how much she affects them, and Melinda isn’t immune either. The push-pull between them is delicious, and their shifting personalities make the romance feel layered and addictive. They care for her deeply, even when they don’t always handle things perfectly which just adds to the angst.
The plot is full of secrets, danger, and twists, and the story keeps the momentum going right to the end without ever feeling rushed. There’s also an overarching mystery involving an older woman Melinda is determined to protect, adding an extra layer of intrigue that ties everything together.

One random personal note: the use of the word octogenarian cracked me up. It gave me a flashback of a spelling test i had elementary school, and it’s been an inside joke with my mom ever since.

And yes… the spicy scenes? H.O.T. 🔥

Overall, this was a wild, entertaining read with great chemistry, great pacing, and characters you can’t help rooting for. I genuinely enjoyed it!

A Fast-Paced Supernatural Romantasy
In “The Wolves and Their Cipher” author K.E. Turner takes us on a wild ride in the present-day world of “The Descendents” series, a spinoff of Turner’s original series about the Langeais wolves in medieval times.
This book is self-contained with an HEA ending while the overall mystery continues into the next books. I thank the author and publisher for an ARC through BookSirens. These opinions are my own.
This title can stand alone but readers will enjoy it more if they catch up with at least “The Wolf and His Witch,” Book 1 of The Descendants. In Book 1, we learned of shifters Louis and Pierre, the packs highly talented hackers who are searching everywhere for a witch able to travel among time who wants to destroy the Langeais pack. The pair have decided they will have better luck finding the witch if they find the hacker (cipher) who is so effectively changing her identity each time they get close.
What the brothers do not expect is that Melinda, the hacker, is their fated mate, which sets up much of the tension in the book. Keeping the secrets of the wolf pack and their mission means their mate will ultimately feel betrayed.
Leading up to the action-packed conclusion is plenty of bed sport within the why choose trope plus the incontrovertible fact that proves to all that Melinda is, indeed, fated to be their mate.
A satisfying epilogue then sets up the next adventures in the series, both in the past and the present.

This series is heating up and if you haven’t read the first book, I recommend you start there. In this story, we get to learn more about the hackers of the pack while progressing the bigger plot line too.

The female love interest, Melinda, is a hacker for good. She grew up in an abusive household, so she channels her skills helping women escape abusive relationships, funneling the money that she gets from less philanthropic endeavors into meaningful work for herself. Her latest client who she assumes is also trying to escape abuse, ends up being the big bad that the wolf pack is trying to track down. During Melinda’s latest identity change for her client, the twins ended up tracing Melinda’s whereabouts and begin to dig into her life.

Melinda, being no fool, knows these two amazingly attractive guys showing up in her apartment building right after she had her incident is suspicious, but she can’t ignore the mystery. She is also attracted to Pierre and Louis. Lucky for them all, the attraction goes both (or all?) ways. The bad guys make a play for Melinda, which forces the brothers to act quickly without doing the right thing and telling Melinda about… any of the bigger picture. This, of course, backfires and we go through a lot more trouble than we need to. We get some good spice, big plot progress, and even a HEA for this trio.

Melinda is a hacker that helps women get away from their abusive husbands. She believes her client is trapped in an abusive relationship. Not knowing that she is actually a time traveling witch, Cordelia. Pierre and Louis having been trying to track down Cordelia for months. When they decide to track down the hacker. Believing they will be able to track Cordelia from the hacker. When they start to spy on Melinda. They realize that fate has brought them their mate. Now they are stuck trying to figure out if they go for Cordelia or Melinda.
This was a great story! I had been waiting for the twin’s story. And I wasn’t disappointed. I love how Melinda can tell the difference between them right away. And that they have different needs. One of their fears, was that their mate wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. With Melinda’s mistrust in men in general. She doesn’t make it easy for them to get close. But when she learns of their betrayal, she seems to forgives them easily. There are some great spicy scenes. The story has the perfect number of spicy scenes. I also love how the Langgeais story continues. I can’t wait for the next one!

Always keep things honest! This was an enjoyable read with two males as our leads. I'm into mf books but am intrigued by this series and I couldn't miss out. These characters were great, I liked them all, even though the males have had themselves too much of a good time pre meeting their mate. She is a great character, she thought she was helping someone, even if it put her in danger.

She tried to help someone get a new identity, but someone was trying to stop her.

And it turns out to be her mates. Again, I wish they hadn't been so into other females before finding their one. Also, they work fast! I think they all got a little hot and heavy too quickly. However, the writing is done well and these males are not ones to wait! They have a lot of chemistry and can't wait to be with her. They shouldn't have lied to her because that's never going to be a good thing. Also I wish we had more background info on them because they are interesting characters. You CAN read this without having read book 1 ( The Wold and his Witch), but why? Turner gives plenty of background and continues to develope the wonderful, colorful world the Langeais wolves reside in (kind of a world within the existing world). In this book, Pierre and Louis continue to hunt down Cordelia (a time traveling witch). When they turn their focus to the person assisting her they're stunned to find she's their fated mate. Time for a whole new game plan! With her being skiddish,, ots will take some finesse to solve this dilemma, oh, and keep her safe at the same time.

This book has it all: action, blood, betrayal, misdirection, emotional hurt, confessions of the heart, steamy times (the brother's share everything!), and healing. Gotta say, the reveal scene was one of my favorites. Nothing was handed to these 3, they had to work for their HEA. As for the other storyline/plot, you'll have to follow-up with the next book to find out more on that front.

Wolf shifters and a human hacker specializing in reinventing survivors to disappear or rather vanish. Melinda Cheng grew up in a house of with a violent, abusive father and now she's on a crusade to protect hapless victims. Her last assignment is a frail old lady, handle mystic mage. Unbeknownst to her the frail old lady is Cordelia, an evil ancient witch, hunted by Pierre and Louis Montagne, Langeais wolf shifters. On finding Melinda, they're conflicted as she's their fated mate. Secrets are kept, but it came at a cost. Melinda is nearly killed by the Faucherian assassin. In San Francisco, she's upducted by more Faucherians. Liked book 1, but book 2 I could barely put down. It's not 1 but 2 hot as hell wlof shifters, so plenty of raging passion and spice. A fairly paced, easy, but entertaining read. Yes I think I like the author's writing style more than enough to continue with the series.

The Wolves and their Cipher by KE Turner is Book 2 of the Descendants series (a spinoff of The Wolves of Langeias series) which follows the Langeias wolves in modern times.

White-hat computer hacker, Melinda Cheng, thinks she is helping an elderly woman evade her abusive husband. However, wolf shifter twins and cyber-security experts, Pierre & Louis Montagne know her client is anything but an innocent octogenarian. They hunt down Melinda in an attempt to find her client. But when they do track her down…sparks fly and they discover Melinda is their fated mate -both of their fated mates.

This read is the perfect mix of plot and spice! French speaking wolf shifters 🥵, time travel, magic and a race against the clock all rolled into a entertaining read that I easily finished in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next book.

The Wolves and Their Cipher continues the story of the modern day Langeais wolves. It tells the story of brothers Pierre and Louis Montagne and how they find their fated mate. As twins they have always had a special "twin" connection where they work together, live together and in The Descendants #2 they discover their fated mate, Melinda Cheng, together. The three meet when Melinda is hired to help an older woman escape "her husband". However in actuality the octogenarian is trying to escape detection by the Langeais wolves. Although a good storyline I do believe this book is driven more by the spice between the wolves and their mate. Thus said, I really like the world Ms. Turner has created with these books and I now look forward to reading the story of the 10th century twins and their mate.

As a fan of shifter stories, I was happy to take a copy of this one for free.

Pierre and Louis, huh? It is confusing when you realize the person you keep seeing is ACTUALLY two different people. It's not something that happens everyday. And then finding out that these beautiful men live down the hall?! Yes, please!

I assume that the first book was Annabelle and Gabriel's story, but it didn't affect the outcome of this at all. At least, I don't think that it did…

I can completely understand why Melinda felt the way she did. I'd be paranoid if I was a hacker, too. Why would these men want me? Of course it was all for the job! But, when everything finally clicks and the dust settles, she does know that it was never about the job for them. It was about HER. They would die for her, but hopefully it will never come to that.
I'll be looking forward to the next book.

Another phenomenal book from K. E. Turner. ‘The Wolves and Their Cypher’ gives an incredible amount of heart stopping thrills, spilled blood, healing, heart-to-hearts, hurt feelings, sexy times, and confessions of truths. I have zero complaints for ‘The Wolves and Their Cypher’. Melinda, Pierre, and Louis are well-fleshed, sexy sexy sexy, and otherwise very likable.

Me gusto y a la vez sentía que tenía mas spicy que historia y que faltaron desarrollar MUCHISIMAS cosas.

Toda la mistica y los seres que aparecen en el libro me guston (no lei el primero) pero senti que no me perdía de mucho aunque a veces si que una tenia que atar cabos sola para que la historia realmente tuviera sentido.

Lo que me paso con esta historia es que creo que si hubiera tenido unas... 50 paginas o 100 paginas más, muchas cosas hubieran tenido mas profunidad y uno llegaba a conectar con los personajes. No es lo que pasó.
No llegamos a conocer a ninguno de los personajes porque todo es muy superficial y nada se ahonda.

Sin embargo, me gustaria seguir conociendo a los otros personajes y sus historias.

Melinda helps abused women gives them a new identity because of what had been done to her mother. She gave a witch a new identity thinking that person had been abused done that 4x but the tech twins still has found her but then given a new name. So Pierre and Louis get into her computer system and put in some malware but she didn’t pull the plugs fast enough. Melinda feels watched sees twins living next door they had convinced the neighbor to leave for awhile. Later she gets attacked by an anti-supernatural group so they take her back to their home, they get into her laptop to find the witch and have to shift to save her. She feels used by them so they could use her to get the witch doesn’t want to be around them. The witch kidnaps her to get to the twins after her rescue they talk about their feelings.

This was so very good. I havent read the first book or the beginning series but this one gave enough clues that I got a good sense of the other books. The attention to detail and the world was detailed and quite extensive. Melinda is so used to being on her own and only trusting herself and Manchu that she easily catches on to the fact that Pierre and Louis are following her but they still manage to get close enough that she begins to trust them until she finds out they are the ones who also booby trapped her. There is a lot of running back and forth before she realizes that they have told her the truth about her client. Things get hectic and topsy turvey before they are once again together.

Pierre and Louis Montagne are werewolves and work for a security firm. They are hunting a witch and they believe Melinda created her aliases. They move in next door and know immediately she is their mate. They hide that they’ve been following her and sent her computer a virus. When someone breaks in and almost shoots her, the twins take her somewhere safe. Will Melinda forgive them when she finds out what they’ve done?
Good story. Witches. Werewolves. Time traveling. Steamy. Louis and Pierre couldn’t be more different. One is organized and the other always jumps feet first.

This is the 2nd book in The Descendants series by K.E. Turner, and this is Pierre and Louis Montagne (tech-savvy twins) and Melinda Cheng (master of reinvention /skilled cipher) story. The twins are on a mission to hunt down Cordelia King, (evil time-travelling witch, whose main ambition is to wipe out the Langeais wolves). They have absolutely no luck in finding the witch so they decide to track down the hacker who is supplying her with fake identities. They travel to London, where they find their hacker, abut are they in for a shock! The hacker turns out to be their fated mate! Now settle back and enjoy how all this pans out!

Holy hot tamales, Batman. This story was hawt. When two tall muscular, sexy Frenchmen want to love, care for and protect you, you say, "Yes, please!" And luckily for us, Melinda Cheng, the FMC does.
Not that Melinda, badass hacker extraordinaire, can't take care of herself, because she can. In fact, I loved how smart and switched on she was.
K. E. Turner's clever and considered writing gives us not only a spicy romance but a thrilling chase worthy of a spy movie as well.
And in this book The Descendants series continues to intertwine beautifully with The Wolves Of Langeais. So that at the end of the book, I can't wait for the next one.

The Wolves and Their Cipher is book #2 in The Descendants Series! If you love witches and shifters this will be a great book for you!

Melinda is a skilled hacker who creates new identities for domestic violence survivors. This last cover she is working on has been causing her some trouble and now she thinks she is being followed.

Pierre and Louis are twins that are also skilled hackers and they are suppose to be tracking down a time traveling witch. While they find the woman that they think is helping hide her they find out that the woman is their mate!

This was a great story with allot of twist and turns. Pierre and Louis have to keep their identity a secret and when it comes out Melinda is feeling betrayed 😩The chemistry is good and the suspense is to tier. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Melinda’s bond with Pierre and Louis feels natural, warm, and full of spark. Though the betrayal resolves quickly, their chemistry and loyalty make the story deeply satisfying.

A fun, spicy addition to the wolf-clan world with plenty of charm and intrigue.

I enjoyed the story. Melinda is a hacker that helps domestic abuse victims start over with new identities pro bono and has paying customers as well. She has a client that is being hunted and the identity get made. She keeps helping with new identities and then malware hits her computer. Pierre and Louis are twin brothers that are tech team that is hunting a witch that has been evading them. They track down the hacker helping her and find their mate. What will happen now? This is such an awesome book, I didn’t want to stop reading till the end. These are characters that will stay with you for a long time. Louis and Pierre will pull you in and won’t let you go, I loved everything about them. Melinda is so vibrant and talented. The gripping scenes and intriguing detail will have you so engrossed with this story.

I loved this story by this author. It's a great read, fast paced, sweet with some steam with lots of action. It's well written, Melinda is great as out heroine and Pierre and Louis as her fated mates and wonderful wolf shifters. The characters are in depth and and story holds together true. You might want to read the book 1 in the series first but can be read as a standalone. I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

I loved Gabriel and Annabelle's story so I had high hopes for The Wolves And Her Cipher. I didn't get disappointed. Wonderful MFM contemporary wolfshifter romance with a lot of action, evil time-travelling witches, the Langeais shifter wolves twins Pierre and Louis and their human mate Melinda. Recommended

Another good read

As always this ARC copy was a good read, with good writing, interesting characters and great series continuity. The past/present is handled very well and keeps the plot bouncing along really well. Wasn't keen on the twins and their mate scenario but as always it is a spicy hot road with a good plot, and the great pace keeps the book moving and enjoyable.

WOW! A lot happened. Between the two men finding that the person they needed to find was their mate. Then keeping her alive and away from danger. A lot of things going on. They also needed to find the old witch. She just keeps slipping through their fingers. So many close calls. Very good story. Can't wait until the next book comes out to see what happens in the tenth century.

First book of the series i read, can tell which couples had books before, but didn't feel lost. I liked the twins and thought the conflict of miscommunication was well done. Thought the epilogue of their relationship with the FMC was the weakest part.
