Explore the land between the Two Rivers--one of the most ancient of all civilizations--and investigate why the Sumerians, Assyrians and Babylonians were among the first to develop writing, mathematics and the science of astronomy. the Earth--the Arctic.
Highly readable guide to Mesopotamia. The text features are nice, but sometimes the images and artifacts don't match up exactly to the main text. Organized by topic rather than chronologically.
This book has pictures of artifacts, mosaics, and statues along with explanations of Mesopotamian life and culture. It had some great craft ideas for my kids!
Was delighted to find craft projects in this one! We did the one with clay tablets and the kids enjoyed it. One girl in particular lived having pictures of the craft to emulate.
This book was very similar to a book by Virginia Schoomp, but not as detailed. All of the pictures found in the book were in other books we'd already read/seen and thus didn't add anything new.
There are many craft activities here but they were very involved and used materials I didn't have or were hard to find. I decided not to use this book.
