The sound is yellow. So begins a 1980s Mexican reporter's quest to learn the secrets of a strange movie played at a notorious theater. "Flash Frame" is a short, Weird tale.
Silvia Moreno-Garcia is the author of several novels, including Mexican Gothic, Gods of Jade and Shadow and The Daughter of Doctor Moreau. She has also edited a number of anthologies, including the World Fantasy Award-winning She Walks in Shadows (a.k.a. Cthulhu's Daughters). Mexican by birth, Canadian by inclination.
When I found out that Silvia Moreno-Garcia had written a short story for Cthulhurotica, I went in search of it immediately. I can safely say this is *exactly* what I should have expected for Cthulhu crossed with er0t1ca in the style of SMG. It's not sexy, it's a mind warp, it's a bit horrifying....and I'm not going to stop thinking about it for a while. I'll probably think about it anytime I see something yellow. Or hear yellow.
If you enjoy SMG's style of writing and if you love speculative short fiction, I highly recommend tracking this down. I found it in an anthology called The Book of Cthulhu, which is on KU and in the Audible Plus library. After reading this, I Plan to read more of her massive short story backlist!
