About the author

Paul Maar is one of the most important modern German writers for children and young people. He is a novelist, playwright, translator and illustrator.

He was born on 13 December 1937 in Schweinfurt. After the early death of his mother he lived with his grandfather in the rural area of Theres in northern Bavaria. He went to school at the Gymnasium in Schweinfurt, and later studied at the State Academy of Arts in Stuttgart. He then worked as a stage designer and stage photographer for the Franconian castle theatre Massbach. After that he spent ten years as an art teacher. Since 1976 he has worked as a freelance writer. He lives in Bamberg with his wife and three children.

Hannes ist wütend. Heute lief alles schief. In der Schule wurde er ausgelacht, sein bester Freund hat ihn enttäuscht und dann wurde ihm auch noch die Mütze geklaut. Er kommt schlecht gelaunt nach Hause. Doch seine Mutter hat einen guten Rat, was gegen die Wut hilft - einen Kuchen backen!
💜 Eine schöne Geschichte für Erstleser. Ein einfacher Text und zudem auch noch hilfreich, denn wütend ist jeder mal. Wenn man dann seine Wut am Kuchenteig auslassen kann, macht es sogar noch Spaß :)

I was pleasantly surprised to find I can still read a book in German without a dictionary, even if it's just a children's book.

This was a fun children's book, and a nice break after reading Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen María Machado. Although I couldn't help noticing that the whole book doesn't pass the Bechdel test even once. It's no Tintenherz, but I'd still recommend it as an enjoyable read.

Hace mucho que lo leí, recuerdo que ese libro me encanto, pero cuando lo acabe descubro que había otros libros de el "señor bello" así que me puse a buscarlos pero desfortunadamente no los encontré y ahí detuve mi búsqueda.

Muy buen libro.

Hannis hatte einen schrecklichen Tag. Er hatte das Gedicht nicht aufgesagt, sein Freund war zu einer Party eines Menschen gegangen, der ihn gedemütigt hatte, und er musste sich mit einer unfreundlichen Person herumplagen. Aber ein Wutkuchen half ihm.
