I'm trying to read several of the books in this 'series' in order to have a better understanding of other cultures. This one is not as successful, imo, as the others. The author tries to be objective, respectful, etc.... but she clearly did not learn to love the people the way the authors of the Taiwan and Australian guides did. And she definitely enforced my desire to not ever visit the UAE. Still, it does seem like an excellent 'Survival Guide' for expatriates trying to live and work there temporarily.

The writing quality wasn't the best but the information was very good, if a little heavy on the country's legal system practices.

Some really helpful and interesting insights into the culture of the local Emirati's. Whilst other sections are clearly out of date, it was still worth the read.
