Centuries ago, a group of Aranken mages left their homeland and became the ancestors of the Nikari. Now a Nikari prince will return, seeking truth and finding far more than he expected.
Shuri Fezenda has one goal in mind when he departs for A’rankin—to identify the culprit behind the conspiracy targeting Ivy, his brother’s consort and a man Shuri cares for deeply. But when he meets Prince Tynare’Or’Therar, Shuri’s world is turned upside down.
Beautiful and mysterious, Tynare draws Shuri like no other. The secrets he whispers taunt and tease, but Shuri’s treacherous heart races and his body responds when Tynare shoots him a knowing smile. And then Shuri meets Tynare’s twin brother, Nari, and in Nari’s kindness and blind eyes, he finds refuge and a love beyond anything he thought he could feel.
Torn between duty and confused emotions, Shuri faces an A’rankin on the brink of civil war and a foe he didn’t count on—the neighboring land of Shyrn. At the heart of the conflict, one question remains. Who is Tynare really, and who is Nari? Shuri is almost afraid to learn the answer.
ALANA ANKH is a hopeless romantic. Once upon a time—no, not in the Stone Ages, but when Alana was a nosy teenager—she lived and breathed mainstream romance, but after she discovered m/m…. Well, her fate was sealed.
Regardless of the genre, Alana thinks love can be painful, heartbreaking, but also fun, corny, and a little silly. Love is different for everyone and anyone—and in her books, she tries to celebrate that.
Alana also loves sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal. But even if her boys have scales, fur, claws, fangs—or whatever else occurs to her—they’re really very nice people. Most of the time. Well…. Most of them are nice, but all of them deserve love and a HEA.
When Alana isn’t feeding her addiction to happily-ever-afters and hot men, she’s randomly slaying monsters in MMORPGs or thinking up the next idea to share with readers.
Fractured Souls is book two in the Elemental Lovers series and picks up where Beyond the Rift ends, with Shuri heading off to the Eastern Realm in search of answers. What he finds is mysteries and intrigue wrapped around the fetching man that is Prince Tynare.
The world was just as vibrant as the first book, and although some things were confusing at first, everything is explained in the end. I didn’t like Shuri in the last book, and didn’t care for him much at the beginning of this, but he was redeemed in my eyes and I loved the relationship that built between him and Tynare. There is a lot of action and magic, though the A’rankins use the elements differently than the Nikari do. This gave even more interest to the story. We learn more about the nightwolves and encounter dangerous creatures trying to destroy the Empire.
Though this tale in the series is wrapped up, the epilogue leaves it open for a third book in the series. Though we don’t know whether the book would focus on the existing couples or a new pair, I am looking forward to it.
Story was not too bad, and compared to the first book more effort was put into showing the universe to the readers.
Nevertheless, it still suffered from the many same weaknesses as the first book. Story just seemed to be a series of lucky coincidences, the "we love Ivy" syndrome seemed to still be going strong, and rulers still allergic to logical thinking. Many times the story just went around in circles without advancing anything, and the repetitive nature was felt more strongly when the reader was told things that have happened before being shown in it detail .
Writing was not awful, but in some places the choice of words used made the reading awkward (many mentions of characters "plopping" down onto things made them all seem like the characters sounded like they were all marionettes getting their strings cut). Also, there were a lot of clichés phrases.
Whew, I finally got around to rereading Beyond the Rift last night and finally got this one read. I wish I had done it sooner, because Shuri redeemed himself in this book. Shuri and Tynare are perfect for each other, I didn’t like neither one other in the beginning of the story but I loved them both in the end and was cheering them on. I would love to see more of Kris and Ivy, maybe in the next book. I’m very curious what will happen next, especially regarding Nils...
In an attempt to redeem himself in the eyes of his brother, Kris, the Nikari Emperor, Shuri and Kris’s mother Katara travel to Aranken to try to come to terms of peace between their peoples. There is also the matter of a certain Aranken prince that tried to harm Ivy in a rift, and Shuri has convinced himself that he loves Ivy, that he needs to protect the naïve young elemental from the dangerous Aranken as well as his own brother, Ivy’s bond mate.
Prince Tynare is dangerous, elusive and secretive as well as domineering. Shuri is immediately drawn to him but wages a war with himself over the attraction, as I said, he has convinced himself he is in love with his brother’s consort. The push and pull is liken to magnets, as is the attraction between these two powerful men. But then Shuri meets Tynare’s twin brother, Nari. The two share the same flaming red hair and eyes as blue as the ocean, but their personalities are like night and day. It’s an interesting love triangle, to say the least.
The darkness inside Tynare threatens to destroy them all, and when the secret of who, or what, is behind the attack on Ivy is revealed, these men find themselves at war with an ages old evil that could potentially destroy them all. Shuri comes to realize that what he feels for Ivy is definitely love, but not the kind of love he feels for Tynare and Nari, or the kind of love that Ivy feels for Kris. Just when Shuri decides his fate is his own to grasp, he faces the very real danger of losing the love he just found.
As with the first story in this series there is a knot of threads between characters, stories and events all taking place at the same time. Shuri and Katara are trying to find a balance with the Aranken king, Rynald, while Shuri struggles with his ever growing feelings for Rynald’s sons. There is an inherent evil that has wrapped itself around Tynare and his kingdom, an evil that won’t stop until it either destroys or controls everything, it already controls Tynare. But love is a powerful thing and these two fractured souls will find the strength to fight in their love for one another.
The writing, world building, descriptives and character development in this series is beyond skilled. I LOVE that there is zero angst, the storyline and characters are always mature and while often confused or torn, they all seem to realize communication is key, the occasional secret aside. I especially enjoyed the inner workings of the threesome in this story; Shuri, Tynare and Nari. Each has a secret or two, each has to struggle with their own personal demons as well as the one that haunts them, and each has to come to their own realization about the decisions they’ve made that have brought them where they are, brought them to each other.
A must read for fans of fantastical stories, magic, soul mates and lovers of very detailed and precise writing chops. You have to read the first book, Beyond The Rift, prior to this story though or you will be completely lost. And be sure to familiarize yourself with the glossary at the start of each story so you’ll understand the language the various characters speak, and who they are within this Elemental world.
The arrival of the Nikari is only a matter of time. They will come to confront the Aranken who attempted to destroy the Nikari royal family yet again. They managed to fracture the monarchy, not destroy it altogether. This latest attempt was aimed at the man about to become consort to the powerful Emperor. This cannot go unchallenged knowing that the Aranken royal family is involved.
It takes the Nikari ship five long days for Prince Shuriden Fezenda, the Emperor’s cousin, secretly his half-brother and A’Mora Katara, the Emperor’s mother to arrive. They are unable to dock due to a magical force field surrounding the town, the palace, and territory. Met by Crown Prince Tynare Or’Therar the royals are subjected first hand to the Aranken’s war against the neighboring Shyrn and lose their ship in the process. If not for the intervention of the crown prince the Nikari party wouldn’t have survived the attack on their ship.
Before they know it Shuri is embroiled in palace intrigue and blatant sexual overtures by Tynare and his previously unknown twin brother Nari. Breaching the Veil between Aranken and Shyrn may provide the answers to the Nikari threats, but it may also mean capture or worse, death. The only certainty is that the answers are all there if Shuri can survive asking the questions.
Incredibly imaginative. Intrigue, amazing twists, and surprises along the way. All the hallmarks of a fantastical adventure are here to enjoy with Fractured Souls. A large cast of interesting characters and a layered plotline to entertain readers will make Fractured Souls a keeper. As questions are answered new ones crop up to torment and engage. It’s not necessary to have read the previous story, but it definitely helps to understand this strange world. Shuri is special and has reason to protect his heart while Tynare isn’t as easy to embrace. Eventually it becomes clear as to why his behavior is so erratic, but he’s definitely not as likeable. Fractured Souls offers romance, love, suspense, and mysteries. Something for everyone falls into place in this bold, erotic tale. Dive in and enjoy.

I was so happy to see Shuri get his own book! Of course the characters from book one are also in this one, but the main focus moves to Shuri.
The King of A’rankin has requested a meeting several times from Shuri’s brother, the Nikari Emperor, Kristelien Fezenda. Under cover of that request, Shuri and Kris’ mother are sent to A’rankin to investigate who was behind the attack on Ivy, and who supplied the drug that Shuri’s mother gave to Kris’ and Shuri’s father’s wolf that caused it to go crazy and attack and kill the former Emperor.
When they arrive at the magical barrier surrounding A’rankin, they are met by Prince Tynare’Or’Therar, and after a battle with a sea serpent, they finally get to shore. Prince Tynare is an enigma. Shuri finds himself instantly attracted to Tynare, and Tynare finds himself instantly attracted to Shuri, but they are both hiding major things from each other. Is Tynare the source of the attack on Ivy? Does he know who supplied Shuri’s mother with the drug for the wolf?
I’ll be honest, I really figured out the whole mystery of the twin Princes way before it was revealed in the book. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great read though. The book kept me captivated right up to the last page! And with the last couple pages in the book, it is obvious we’ll be seeing at least one more book in this saga!
Will the evil that Shuri and Tynare battled in the neighboring land of Shyrn return in book three? What of Tynare’s father the King? I, for one, can’t wait for the next book!
I recommend this book highly. I would recommend reading the books in order though for continuity purposes.

This is a multi-layered fantasy in a complex world. There's a male romance but that is only a part of the story, not the object of it.
I had not read the first book about the elemental magicians, but I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up after this one. A new reader will find the scene taut and full, but sufficient detail is provided to let us dive in to the story.
I loved some of the concepts, like the elemental magic shield around a city, the nightwolf and the dimensional rift travel. I was intrigued by others such as dual personality issues, and the various battles were well realised. The constant suspicion and distrust however means nothing is ever fully at rest - but maybe this is more true to life than taking someone's word at face value when you're a stranger in a bedevilled desert city.
I did not give more stars because the story did seem to be in want of editing down, so characters could get on with the various quests instead hanging around and drooling over desirable princes. But probably some readers would prefer the desirable princes. If I had read the first book I might have given this one a better rating.
This is drama and angst in buckets...This story could had go from enemies to lovers just fine...but the author gave it a feel like smoke and mirrors... that's what it felt for me at least...it was exhausting...and I just gave up like at 70%...I mean come ON...there is not an ounce of rest from the (I'll say it again...because it was THAT MUCH!!!) drama/angst...this is no romantic tale...this is nothing like the first book...and I'm OK with that...with what I'm not OK is that the actions from the MC were not by any means justified...I didn't and couldn't bond with him and I really don't understand how the other MC could stand so much deceiving and lying...I gave it my all even after finding my self skipping pages...because the first book was THAT GOOD...but after the big revelation that didn't justify anything really...I just gave up...so I'm giving it 2 stars because I do appreciate the effort she put in expanding the world she previously created.
PS I need a fluffy/contemporary/sugary reading ASAP just to keep balance

***3 STARS***
Huh. It was an okay read, but there were too many WTF moments. Moments when things didn't make sense that the character' logic was no where to be found. Book two centers on Shuri, the emperor's half brother. I don't get why he liked Ivy, his brother's consort, so much. They really haven't spent too much time with each other in the other book, so his love wasn't convincing to me. Don't tell me the character is in love, show it to me. Write the scenes to convince me.
I wasn't as into this one as I was with book 2. I pretty much guessed what was going on between Nari and Tynare. The cover is great though, just like the first one. Would I read book 3 if there was to be one? Depends...
Really now! So Nilswryn a good guy? Incredible! What the *%#* is he about now. I guess book 3 will tell?
4 stars for &*#@ing with my head.
If Beyond the Rift was good Fractured Souls is better. A lot more about that world, some storylines and some characters in book 1 have been given a bit more clarity and substance. Shuri appeared to be just as if not lot stronger character than his brother Kris. At least they're getting along now and it was also good to see more of Ivy as well.
As the story of Kris and Shuri and Nils goes on, I imagine it makes sense that we got so much more in book 2 than book 1 and will get even more in book 3. Now I'm going to read the last page with Nils and Uni's conversation--AGAIN!
I liked that this book had more plot to it along with the romance. And what's with that epilogue? Outragous. Personally not a fan of "fuck first, build relationship later". I'm more a slow burn "build up to something as simple as a kiss" that I need to put down the book for 10 minutes and reign in my stupid grin kind of person. I also didn't much like relationship between them in general, it just felt so... not okay. I understand how author wanted to go about it but I guess it's just not my thing. There were also some overly dramatic and too emotional bits and plot devices that didn't seem necessary other than to inject more drama in their relationship.
Ok this book was awesome...I loved Nari and Shuri...I also loved the plot and mystery.. the fights with magic was excellent as well...I'm skoo engrossed with this world and characters... i can't wait for the next book!!!
