0/5. This has to be one of the worst books I have read. The book was all over the place and the pacing was extremely slow. There were a lot of random side stories that didn't really add to the main plot of the book AT ALL. It was an extreme struggle to get through this book, I had to force myself to finish it. There was no real risk for the heist that was going on in the story and they took over 25 chapters to get to the heist. The book was 200 pages longer than it should have been. I would give it a 0/5 if I could.

Incredible Debut Indi Novel!
We read this on the pod and rated it a 4.5
Pros:
1. Perfect beach read, intrigue without excessive anxiety
2. Complex heists. As the books proceeds, the initial heist continues to grow. Sasha does a great job of slowly layering each wrinkle so you are not confused while reading it. I didn't appreciate how complicated the final heist was until I tried to summarize it for the pod and realized this was a full blown mission!
3. Memorable Characters - this is a big cast, but each one is a fully fleshed out character with their own motivations for joining the heist.
Cons
1. It was a little long. We had several girls outings. While each outing served a purpose in the final heist I think they could have been consolidated & made the final story tighter
2. Not sure if this is a pro or con but I felt conflicted about the heist throughout the book. It's a 'Robin Hood' premise with the typical 'ends justify the means.' The protagonists felt justified in stealing but is stealing ever ok? Can you net out the evil by giving to the poor if you pocket some of the proceeds? This wasn't addressed in the book but I think it is a great book club discussion

Entertainingly good read. The characters were entertaining, relatable and undoubtedly adventurous. The plot was well thought out and executed. The paceing was perfect. Talk about an action packed novel.

1/5 for me personally.
I am bummed that I didn’t like this book as I initially thought I would. When I first hear about it, it sounded like a super interesting and captivating book…but as I started to read it, it was just too hard for me to follow.
I felt like there was too much information about things that weren’t necessarily important to the storyline that was created. More and more characters kept being added at random times. And throwing in the 3rd POV felt like way too much for me.
Overall, it just felt a little too all over the place for me and I felt like I couldn’t really enjoy it because I couldn’t retain the information because so much was being thrown at me.
Again, this is just my personal opinion. I wanted to like it more than I did and I probably would have if the structure wasn’t so all over the place.

This very enjoyable book, set in Omaha, Nebraska, is a light-hearted tale of female criminals, coupled with a thick slice of corny romance. It’s well-written and well-plotted, but I definitely wouldn’t advise you to use it as a blueprint for a real-life heist!
There is a sparkling opening, with the two female leads trying to close a crooked deal before their covers are blown, and which ends in one of them having to outrun a security guard in her high heels. But the meat of the story is the planning and execution of a classic heist. The preparations tell you the type of story it is going to be: gang members are recruited almost as if for a girls’ night out; plans are finalised on a pampering away day; the ladies get themselves in shape with a few weeks of structured weight lifting and running; and they make sure they have a good supply of all the equipment that any half-decent robber might need (smoke bombs, noise machines, radio frequency jammers, etc.).
One of the delights of the book is that it never takes itself too seriously; characters joke that “You can’t trust international criminals today”, and so on. The main lead, Jennifer, who dreams of opening a surf shop in Hawaii and having flings with exotic foreigners, even manages to assume two different identities when meeting the same target on separate occasions. But amongst the humour, there are some real insights into human behaviour, such as that Jennifer has, deep down, been happy not to have had a pay rise at work because it has given her an excuse not to go for her Hawaiian dream.
Did anything not quite work for me? Well, I did tire of the number of times that the characters justify their criminal actions to themselves and to each other on the basis that they will share their ill-gotten gains with exploited cobalt female miners in Africa. We all know they are criminals and that we have to sympathise with them for the book to work, so I don’t think their supposed altruism needs underlining quite so much. And the romance is of the kind where, after just one date with a new man, Jennifer is already imagining what their children will be like. I guess this is more some folks’ thing than mine! The writing of the romantic scenes does at times also become a bit clichéd: when Jennifer meets her new love interest, “electricity moved through her”, she “felt her knees go weak”, and “her world stopped”. But I will give the author the benefit of the doubt here by assuming this is a deliberate take-off of old-fashioned women’s romantic fiction!
On the other side of the coin, a particular highlight for me was the portrayal of the two cops (one good, one bad). I really didn’t know which one I was rooting for, especially when the good cop starts closing in on the girls! The final twist involving the good cop made the whole ending work for me, creating a real feel-good factor where everyone’s a winner.
If this type of book is your thing, I think you’ll love this one.

So, abruptly enters the evil corporation slant, and suddenly their caper becomes a high-virtue crusade with a side-benefit of profiting the duo. Yeah, it’s a stretch, and a strained one, but it probably works for most readers, who will not mind.
Despite that bump, the book for this reader was just plain fun. Even as the plot veered toward the unbelievable, the writing stays crisp, and the characters are so likable that any storytelling issues are easy to forgive. The pacing is sharp, the banter sparkles, and the cover art is eye-catching.

Easy-read crime and comedy caper with a strong female cast
This is a light-hearted crime caper that doesn't take itself too seriously, making it an easy, undemanding read. There's a multi-ethnic cast of female characters, with a couple of male additions for added interest. The opening gets off to a cracking start with the two female leads impersonating influential women at a high profile gala event – with some amusing consequences. This sets up the plot nicely and we learn about the ambitious entrepreneur Nari and her sweet and wholesome room-mate Jennifer, who comes out of her shell once persuaded to join Nari's heist team. I found the two women ikeable with a warm and supportive friendship. The first half of the book had plenty of pace, energy and unexpected twists, which kept me turning the pages. I found the second half over-long and would have liked more development of the secondary characters so we could better understand their motivations for participating in the criminal activity. There's a romantic relationship for Jennifer which would have been worth developing as it felt a little rushed.

Some aspects of the story surprised me, such as Jennifer's dream of opening a surfing shop in Hawaii, especially as she wasn't a surfer and had been in the same boring office job in Omaha for years. This is a pretty light book about a couple of friends organising shenanigans involving diapers or sweeteners. They are a part of an extended network of diverse friends not only in terms of background and heritage, but also in terms of ambition.
I liked the way their relationships were presented, although I felt some parts were more "tell" and less "show", for example remarks like "you've been this way since high school" or "because I know you like that". In addition, I felt parts of the story were dragged on for too long without doing anything new, instead of using that space to involve the secondary characters a little more. I may have this impression due to not having read the first part of the series, they may have been fleshed out a little more in that book or perhaps some of the things had already been presented and in this part they were only mentioned. Another thing that I think could have been done better was combining deep conversations such as those about deceased close ones with scenes of slapstick humour. Arriving at the end of the book and seeing that the author is white, I think she did a decent job at portraying multicultural characters. My favourite character BY FAR was Roberta. I liked all other characters that had been introduced before her, but once she came into the picture, it was like a breath of fresh air. She felt the most complex, interesting, real and best written character and her parts were little to no fluff, which provided a great balance with the rest of the book.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, girly read or for an easy entry into mistery or caper fiction.

Debated between three and four stars on this one, but rounded up, because it was a good escape from my normal dark and hard hitting novels. Reads somewhat like a cozy mystery, but there's not really a mystery involved, since you are in on the whole plan from the start. Characters are likable, which is always a plus. Wasn't sure how I felt about someone wanting to open a surf shop in Hawaii, having no experience with surfing or the island itself. Seems like Jennifer (the main character) would have had something a bit more worldly on her bucket list I did like the multi-cultural aspects of it all, and never would have imagined a story such as this set in Omaha, Nebraska of all places, but who am I to judge on that, since I've never traveled to that area.
There were some laugh out loud moments, and there were some eye rolls in some places. I felt like it dragged on for about one hundred pages too much, and that is really the only complaint I have. I did care enough about the characters that I wanted to see how it ended, and I did get closure. Just not sure I care enough for a sequel though ,if that is what the author has in mind. Nothing about this book is anything close to what could happen in reality, but for an escape, it was a pretty good book.

Nari and Jennifer are fun characters, the type that you’d want to have as your own friends. Their escapades are reminiscent of famous female dynamic duos such as Lucy and Ethel (the ultimate ‘70s icons). The story starts with Jennifer begrudgingly crashing a party with Nari by impersonating rich bigwigs so that Nari can pitch her own business idea to her target. Jennifer’s reticence about going to the gala increases as she makes small talk with other guests and within the first five minutes, she forgets the dossier notes Nari gave her about who she is impersonating. As she forges her own story about working in stem cell technology, the odds would have it that the man across from her is also in that field. Her lies land her in hotter water as things go from bad to worse when she learns the woman she is impersonating is married and her husband is in attendance. Jennifer’s ruse is quickly discovered and she must make a daring exit, outrunning a security guard in a ball gown and stiletto heels. The scene is indicative of more comic exploits to come in this light romp about friendship, female empowerment, and daring to pursue one’s dreams. The characters each experience true arcs as the story launches into a crime caper. I recommend this book as a perfect weekend read

Any novel that starts out of the box with two girls trying to crash an over-the-top party and get past the list, well, that gets my full attention.
Preston starts off right in the heat of action, and I was hooked. If you’ve been there/done that, you know exactly what I mean. Otherwise, enjoy this romp- vicariously. If you can let your hair loose, let the top down, put the pedal to the metal, and enjoy a ride without nitpicking on the street signs, you'll laugh out loud with this one.
It's a modern-day Thelma and Louise mixed with Sandra Bullock’s Ocean’s 8, just a little younger and even more hip. What those didn't include and where Preston raises the bar is with Jennifer, the main character’s addition of a love interest. It adds another layer of complexity and also intensifies the subplot. Now, this former straight-laced woman has a lot more to lose. Not just a jail sentence.
The team goes all in on this caper, and you should too. Congrats, Sasha Preston, you nailed it. I’m definitely reading this one again and more if she doesn't end up in a jump suit. (No spoilers -haha)

Nari and Jennifer are a pair constantly on the alert for a way to make money, and not necessarily by legitimate means. As the book opens, they have conned their way into a Paws and Promises gala in pursuit of a deal that they affectionately refer to as Diapergate. Before the deal can be consummated, Jennifer is discovered by security and beats a hasty retreat. Having made enough money in diapers, Nari and Jennifer are ready for a new caper. Enter Sumeet, a friend of Nari, who introduces them to Johannes. The new plan, the "sweetest" deal, is selling an artificial sweetener, Sorbelate, and undercutting a less-than-scrupulous producer of this sweetener, a company called Essentrix, a company of which Jennifer happens to be an employee. As with any such plan, there are potential loose ends, principally in the cohorts that Nari and Jennifer need to employ. Who can they trust? Who might be a mole? Who might betray them?
It seems almost inadvertent, but the author introduces a moral dilemma - is it ok to steal from or undermine a company that treats its employees badly? This book gives you the chance to weigh your thoughts on this question.

tl;dr - It’s enjoyable as a surface level read, so is perfect for fans of cozy heists but not for those craving depth.
Reminiscent of cheesy crime fiction like Ocean’s 8 (2018), this book was quick, cozy and packed with light-hearted and funny moments. I appreciated how the romance was a sub-plot to the overall focus on Jennifer and Nari’s friendship and growing camaraderie with other characters. I enjoyed the heist and the predominant motivation being different for each character (particularly money for Nari and getting back at her evil employers for taking advantage of others for Jennifer) but did find the plot dragging at times. The characters were also rather surface level and didn’t seem to have much depth or development.
It’s perfect for those looking for an easy read, but wouldn’t recommend for those that prefer a bit more meat to the characters and intensity to the high-risk high reward trope. I’m more of the latter category as I liked but did not love the book, as I enjoy complexity rather than cosiness when it comes to crime fiction.

Friendship is the central theme and it is not a fast paced thriller, rather it relies more on character interactions . The language is simple, plot easy to follow and surprisingly enjoyable read. Though it starts as a heist from a corrupt organisation , midway the tone shifts to exposing and bringing justice to the exploited. The story is a enjoyable caper .
However, the novel’s middle section slows down with too much detailing and detailed planning and starts on moral lessons. It is a light feel good story.
Despite these low points, this book is a spirited, uplifting adventure—ideal for readers who prefer clever fun over thrill .

A fun 'getaway' read
This one I found so much fun to read. Light and fast paced, it was tough not to chuckle and pictured the characters as they carried out their heist plan with such silly antics. A group of women, who found each other coincidentally of course, pull together a robin hood sort of plan against one of their employers that produces sorbelet, a sugary substitute that happens to be in high demand and low supply. They stand to make millions but its their comradery that keeps them together. Twists and turns threaten their heist plan as does some romantic interests. When an unknown tips off the police, the story turns to suspicion and decisions must be made.
If you like delightful, fun reads to getaway yourself, this is a fun book to pick up and read. I recommend it if you enjoy light-hearted cozy criminal type reads with women protagonists.

Nari is a entrepreneur going after deals while Jennifer works for Essentrix Labs in Sales department. They got an intel on a way to make big profit and change life of inocent women in Congo, a way that enable them to sneek into and steal the sweeter from Essentrix labs warehouse. It was dangerous and the stakes are high, but that did not stop Nari and Jennifer from assembling their team and do all plan for the hiest.
I loved the vibes of the novel, It was positive and motivating. The characters are fun and exciting, I enjoy reading how they grew and worked to achieve their goal to get their happy ending.

I had a great time reading Sweetest Getaway! A gripping and empowering heist story led by a dynamic cast of women. I definitely recommend reading The Sweetest Getaway because once you start reading, you can’t put it down. The Sweetest Getaway is pack with so much action it made my emotions switch up so fast while still rooting for them at the same time. It has everything from love to hating certain characters. This gave the story a twist, I wasn’t expecting. I especially loved the camaraderie between the girls. Their friendship felt so real and had me smiling more than once. I love the bonus Book Club Discussion Questions, this made me feel like I am part of the story. So if you like action pack girl power adventures, you got to pick this up.

The Sweetest Getaway was such a fun read. This action packed and delightful book will leave you satisfied yet hungry for more.
Packed full of suspense, drama and a whole lot of laughs, this story has a cast of strong and empowered female characters that you can’t help but root for. The bond that they share is so special and really, who doesn’t love a good heist?!?
With the rich character development, it is easy to fall in love and hate with the different characters. The scenes are so well depicted that they come alive on the pages, unfolding before your eyes.
