Der Band schildert den Fall der Berliner Mauer, mit dem die Teilung der Welt in zwei feindliche Systeme zu Ende ging. Schließlich sollte sich nur wenige Jahre später mit den Anschlägen vom 11. September 2001 in New York der Zustand der Welt erneut verändern. Anschaulich, mit zahlreichen Karten und Abbildungen, werden diese Augenblicke in der Geschichte der Menschheit in Erinnerung gerufen: eine informative, immer spannende, nachdenklich stimmende Lektüre.

A broad but shallow review of pivotal events throughout history with a bias towards the British commonwealth.

Almost identical in format to "Days that Changed the World" (a book I received in conjunction with this one as a gift), this work suffers from the same main flaws as its sister. Namely, the length isn't sufficient to really do any of the "landmarks" justice, and no rationale is given as to why the specific events given 'made the cut,' so to speak, over any other noteworthy occurrences. The writing in this one is much better, however, and it is filled with many passionate first-hand accounts, along with containing numerous photographs, paintings, and maps.
