Fourth edition. This is the newest edition of a very popular manual that is used in classrooms around the world to assist students learning to read the Hebrew Bible. It contains a simple and straightforward discussion of the masoretes, the masoretic tradition, the critical apparatus of BHS, the Masora, the accents, unusual letters, and other markings. It contains an index. The fourth edition also contains an appendix "Introduction to BHQ" by Harold Scanlin.
A very helpful little tool for deciphering the congeries of symbols and accents in BHS, most of which are unnecessary for the average reader. Were it not so expensive and scarce, an impecunious seminary student like myself might consider buying it!
