His lips were a hungry fire against the wild thump of my heart. We were very young and he was the son of my father’s housekeeper, but we didn’t care. We knew without a doubt that we’d found our other half. No one could ever split us. What we had was forever. In my dreams I already encountered the grandchildren we would have.
Then my father calls us to his library and breaks the news.
The one thing we never saw coming. We are half brother and sister.
Devastated and furious, Max storms away from the library never to return.
Years pass, and somehow, I muddle along and become a children’s book illustrator, but the joy of life has been sucked out of me forever.
I dress in drab clothes, never wear make-up, or go out much. I guess I fit the bill to be a spinster for life. Until the day my father makes a shocking confession on his deathbed.
He had lied. Max and I are not related at all.
I know Max will come for the funeral, but Max is now rich and famous... and he is married with a son.

So this is how you write a modern Harlequin romance. Complete with wtf family secrets, a strict forbidding father, an unhinged OW, and soooo much angst. :D It’s OTT but it works.
So impressed this is an indie, it’s much better put together than a lot of traditionally published HPs and contemporary romances.
Quiero la hora y media que me llevó terminar este libro de vuelta. Fue como leer un culebrón, pero ambientado en USA. Muy básico todo, y ya desde la sinopsis te dice que el libro no tiene nada de tabú, así que ni idea por qué el título.
I couldn’t put this book down. From the very first page, Georgia Le Carre had me in an emotional chokehold. The story of Amelia and Max isn’t just a romance — it’s a journey through pain, healing, and the kind of love that changes you forever.
Their story broke me in the best way. These two have endured so much — heartbreak, betrayal, loss, hope — yet somehow, through every storm, they find their way back to one another. Nothing about their path was easy; it was messy, raw, and at times painful to witness. But that’s what made it so real. Their love isn’t perfect — it’s earned. And when they finally get their peace, you feel it deep in your chest.
Georgia Le Carre doesn’t just write stories; she writes emotions that bleed off the page. Every word felt intentional, every scene heavy with meaning. I found myself laughing one minute, crying the next, and by the end, I was just sitting there — heart shattered, soul full, completely undone.
Amelia and Max were meant for each other. Their connection is powerful, haunting, and beautifully imperfect. They challenge, heal, and complete one another in a way that left me breathless.
This book reminded me why I love reading — for stories like this, that make you feel everything.
Thank you, Georgia Le Carre, for creating something so raw, so devastatingly beautiful, and so unforgettable.

When I say I dropped everything to read this book is an understatement. I am a true sucker for the forbidden love x taboo trope and this book had it in spades!
What was meant to be a once in a lifetime kinda love, Amelia and Max were cruelly ripped apart. Max is the son of a housekeeper working at Amelia's (house). They are so young in love, oblivious to the world outside and Amelia's dad John cannot let his only daughter settle for anything less. It's not until he's on his deathbed that he confesses the truth - one that Amelia doesn't know if she can truly forgive him for.
Max has built an empire. He may seem to have it all - money, a thriving business, a wife and son but the part of his heart he's numbed is something he can never have. When Amelia comes crashing back into his life, he can no longer deny his hearts true desire.
Max and Amelia embark in an affair that truly questions their morals. Max throws caution to the wind and will move heaven and earth to keep Amelia. Now he's had a taste of her again, letting her go isn't an option.... But how do they navigate a relationship when an innocent child is trapped in the middle of this mess? Will Max and Amelia make it through to the other side when everything is stacked against them?
I truly loved how intense the relationship between Max and Amelia was. That true once-in-a-lifetime love that never wavered, despite the time apart. I personally don't condemn infidelity, but this really tested my own morals in how it was wrong but also was so right for them. I could feel the pain from both Max and Amelia, how circumstances pulled them apart and the time they wasted. They were truly a force to be reckoned with their HEA could not be any better!
Jason was such a gem in this book and Sara... I could sympathise with her but undoubtedly she also knew what she was signing up for when she married Max, in that he would never truly love her in that way. She definitely had it coming and I'm also not one bit sad about it! 🙈
I would recommend this book for those looking for a read that will keep them up til the crazy hours of the night but if infidelity/taboo/forbidden love tropes is not your thing... Please walk away now... 😎.

Ok, normally this topic is not my cup of tea. And when I say that I mean because of the whole wife and kid thing. But Georgia is a great storyteller and I'm not missing out. This gutted me. I was so hurt for them, so much time had passed. A family was formed while she was kept out in the cold. It's not like he was loving life but still, the fact that he did have what he did killed me.
A lie kept them apart. And now she knew the truth.
The little one and her...that scene also warmed my heart. Children are innocent and she had such a huge hole. Despite the whole concept, I appreciate that bond. I was teary eyed. I was so ready to cry and I just had no idea how this would play out. I would be a huge hypocrite to say I'm ok with cheating because it's the one meant for them. But I also don't believe he should have ever been in the situation he was in and yes, I want it to be them and only them, thank you! Sigh. I'm ok with them doing what they needed to. Not my favorite way of doing things, but again, Georgia is an amazing storyteller. I believe in talking things out and not getting mixed up in these situations, plus what a time gap. But it is what is for this book.

Taboo is a very emotional story. When I read the blurb I knew I had to read this one. I love this author's stories and have been reading her for a while now. I always know that I'm going to get a great story with enjoyable characters.
Amelia and Max are young and in love. Her family is wealthy and he is the maid's son. Amelia's father wants to see them and he destroys them by telling them a lie. Amelia is completely heartbroken. Her relationship with Max is destroyed. Eventually he moves away with his mother and they don't see each other. Years later Amelia's father tells her the truth before he passes away. She is understandably angry and hurt.
Max is now a wealthy man with a wife and son. After he sees Amelia again he questions everything. He is not happy in this life. He has always loved Amelia. Once they realize they still have feelings for each other, Max is determined to never let Amelia go again.
Max and Amelia were such strong people. They have been through so much. But they still had chemistry after all the time apart. Their story was emotional but beautiful. Another amazing story from this very talented author. Highly recommended.

Know your triggers before you start reading this story as it will deal with themes that are painful and life changing.
This is such a great book, painful, raw, emotional, and very twisty. Amelia comes from a rich family, but she has been in love with the maid's son since she was a child. Max, has only known about richness through his time in the shadows of his mother's work until she found Amelia and his heart became hers. Her dad discovers them together, and breaks them apart by telling Amelia they are brother and sister. Max moves away, becomes powerful, rich and creates a family, but still loves Amelia. But a deathbed confession will put them together once again, and this time nothing will stop them from being together,
OK, this story is so painfully beautiful about soulmates drifting through life until they reunite again. Now, I am not pro- cheating, but the story goes beyond that as it explores the pain, the longing, the secrets, that they have endured to reach each other again.
A great book, a great plot, complex characters, and a lifetime of belonging!.

Heartbreaking and overwhelmingly steamy second chance! I feel for Amelia and Max as they are summoned to Amelia’s father’s study and if ever there was a feeling of doom and gloom, it would be then. I understand Max’s action after the way he was treated, but I am heartbroken from Amelia who never got over her one true love! Fast forward to Amelia’s father’s deathbed and he reveals the truth about what he had done which destroys Amelia though she still forgives her father. Max is now a successful married businessman with one child who attends the funeral of his mother’s longtime employer, but when he sees Amelia, it’s like a fire was lit bringing him back to life. Amelia keeps her secret because she can’t ruin Max’s family. Yet when Max’s wife offers for her to visit, it’s a chance she will take. Things get interesting when the wife goes to take care of her mother for 2 weeks, allowing Max and Amelia to rekindle their lost love. While Amelia keeps her father’s secret, Max willingly goes full throttle with Amelia. How will it all end? You have to read to find out and won’t believe the twists and turns!
Amelia and Max were young, inseparable and in love. Amelia's rich and powerful father, John Fitzwilliam, does not approve of their union since Max is the housekeeper's son. Max knew he was playing with fire but he fell hard for Amelia and she wants Max to promise her that they will never be separated.
Amelia's father summons them to let them know they cannot be together as their relationship is an abomination as he is Max's father. He offers Max $200,000 and tells him to leave. Amelia is shocked as she watches Max storm off. Years later, Amelia's father is dying and confesses to her that he lied, she and Max are not related. Max is now rich and famous and shows up at the funeral with his wife and son. Amelia has never gotten over her love for Max and is not sure if she should ever reveal the truth.
This well-written, page-turning, forbidden romance is filled with angst, secrets, twists and turns and sexy passionate steam. Another great read from Georgia Le Carre. Loved it!
Max and Amelia meet as teens, fall in love and have their worlds ripped apart by one simple sentence. Fourteen years later they meet again and Max realising Amelia is alone and broken brings her to his home to give her time to mend. Trouble is Max is now married and the feelings these two had for each other are as still as strong as ever. Max's wife Sara is happy to have Amelia in her home but Amelia can't help but sense there is something wrong with this supposed happy family. A story of forbidden love, a marriage that was already strained, now on the brink and two people who know what they feel is wrong and can never be, yet can't be ignored. Georgia has given us another fabulous story of love, lust, deceit and lies. Max and Amelia should never have started this, the sparks they have ignited may set the world on fire.
Max met Amelia when he went to stay with his mom who worked for Amelia’s dad at their house. Their friendship developed into more. And they fell in love with each other. Then Amelia’s dad drops the bomb that they are half brother/sister. Max left and that was the last that Amelia say of him. She has kept up with his career throughput the years. Right before her dad dies he tells her that it was a lie. They aren’t related. But it’s too late now, max is married and has a kid. Moving on she knows there’s nothing she can do. Then Max shows up at her dad’s funeral with his family. And when his wife offers for Amelia to come stay with them. As much as Amelia knows it’s a bad idea she says yes. But she’s determined to keep the secret to herself. This was a good story. This was a story that will keep you guessing.
This story is packed with many emotions, love lost, the lie told amounts to betrayal, and now Amelia and Max's journey will take you on a rollercoaster ride! They met when he went to stay with his mom who worked for Amelia’s dad at their house. Then their friendship developed into much, much more. They fell in love! This didn't please her father, so he calls them into his study and drops a bomb shell "they are half-brother/sister"! He immediately leaves that's the last she sees of him, although she keeps up with his career! On her dad's death bed, he tells her the truth " he lied, they aren't half-brother and sister!!! By now, Max is a successful businessman, married with a son. They reconnect at her dads funeral with his family. What happens next? you will have to read this amazing book.

4.5 Stars! Young teens fall in love only to learn that their love is forbidden. Amelia has never been able to get over it. When she learns on her father's death bed that he lied, she is heartbroken again. Max always loved Amelia but had to stay away as he did not want to be "friends". He is now in a loveless marriage with a son. His wife thinks Amelia is his half-sister and thinks she is being nice when she offered her to coma and stay with them. Amelia knows the truth but won't cross the line since he is married. Will she be able to resist? Will he? This is a good love story with lots of secrets, deceit, and longing. Good red.

Amelia and Max were young and love when her father stepped in and destroyed them. Now years later they reconnect Max is married with a son, and it looks like his life is going well. Amelia's father makes a confession to her before he passes away and its one that shocks Amelia to her sore. Max learns of John's passing and goes to pay his respects. However, his wife and son show up, and things get complicated when Amelia is invited home with them by his wife. Will Amelia share the secret she's keeping with Max? Is there a chance for them?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book for Bad Boy Update.
So I've put it under Contemp romance but I really didn't feel any romance and the smut isnt smutty enough to be placed under erotic and the taboo is def not actually taboo enough to be put under dark...
The story had so much potential but the delivery of impact felt like a dud to me. The taboo isnt a taboo and you know that really early on so the tension is that the ML belives its a taboo and the FL let's him continue believing that even though she knows it's an awful thing to deal with (lusting after your half sibling and whatnot). It also felt weirdly young with how everyone was acting and reacting and with l surface level skimming of stakes and emotions.. Anyhoos, moving onwards..
I've read a few of this author's books before and they all seem to have complex storyline (which I love) and this was no different. At some point in the book, I found myself thinking, "Okay, what else will they have to go through to be able to finally be together?" The story was engaging, the MCs were human and compelling, and it was well written. I found myself experiencing mirades of conflicting feelings and at times, my heart ached for them. The book was filled with conflict, complications, twists and turns, and heartbreak. This one was very good. I would definitely recommend it.

I couldn't put the story down, Georgia Le Carre did a wonderful job on it, the plot was packed with many emotions, Amelia and Max's journey will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, these two have been through so much and they were truly meant for one another but nothing about their journey was easy, many ups and downs and twists, I enjoyed them together, they were perfect together, well matched, their story was beautifully written, this is a great story, I'd recommend reading it. 5 Stars! Thank you, Georgia Le Carre, wonderful work :)
Was it Really Taboo? Georgia has done it again. Another great story with some twists and turns that will keep you reading on and turning the pages. Before you know it, you completed the book. Amelia and Max found love at a young age and went years without being together. So much time was lost and so much happened during that time apart. Their love was so strong but sonny hurdles to overcome- some you don't think will happen. Worth reading especially if you enjoy a little suspense and intrigue.

Tabook by Georgia Le Carre Wow Amelia and Max's story is an emotional rollercoaster. Amelia's father tells her and Max that they are half siblings. Max leaves and went on to become a successful billionaire and now has a son. On Amelia's father's death bed he admits to lying to Amelia and Max. This is their story. I really enjoyed reading their story. I was pulled in from the beginning and didn't want to put it down.

I will start by saying that cheating is my only trigger. But I love Georgia's books so I wanted to try it. There are so many feels for their story. These two loved each other so much and were torn apart. Unfortunately Max has "moved" on. He has a wife and kid. But he hasn't completely moved on. He will never love his wife like he loves Amelia. I did struggle with some of this. But overall I was rooting for them to finally get their HEA.

Wow, what can I say about this book, other than you won't be able to put it down once you start reading it. Heartbreaking and heartwarming, Amelia and Max's story of forbidden love will take you on an emotional roller coaster. Her father's lies changed both their lives and his deathbed confession is major. A twist you won't see coming and eventually an HEA. Don't miss this one! I received a copy of this book via Bad Boy updates and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
They were young lovers from opposite walks of life and when her father called them into his office and dropped a confession about their parentage it changed their lives forever. Fast forward and now Amelia is a young woman living the life of a spinster but when her father comes clean on his death bed Max and Amelia's life will change once again. This enticing story had my emotions running high as I connected with Max and Amelia. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
This is a heartfelt second chance romance between Amelia and Max. These flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an interesting read. Once they reconnect, it is a bumpy ride with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, family dynamic, twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters. An emotional page turner.

I have loved this author since she first started writing and I was happy to see her write more. This was a page turning read. The story is both compelling and emotional. The story stars Amelia and Max. The story has anll the feels, some angst but you want to be there when it’s resolved and this couple gets their HEA.

Steamy drama filled taboo story about a controlling father who lies to his daughter and the boy she loves and tears their worlds apart. Years later she ends up connecting with him...and his new and unhappy family. The chemistry they had have never died, and even now that she knows the truth...he still thinks she is taboo but won't give her up. So many twists and turns...such steamy goodness! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.

Taboo is a dark, passionate, and emotional romance that pulls you in from the very first page. Georgia Le Carre delivers a story filled with forbidden desire, tension, and heartbreak, while still keeping the focus on the deep connection between the main characters. The chemistry is intense, the writing is smooth, and the emotional depth makes it more than just a steamy read.
Once I started this I couldn’t put it down. Amelia and max were meant to be but they get torn apart when it is revealed that max is Amelia’s half brother. It was a very well written story and you really feel connected to the characters. Jason was just such an amazing wee man. I highly recommend this book.
