“It must have been a truly frightening sight for everyone who did not understand him. But she did.” ~ Let me start by saying, I love this author’s writing style and fell in love with Gloria’s debut book last year, (Untethered). I jumped at the reveal of Potions & Peculiarities (standalone), and am honored to have been able to read an ARC! This is one of my favorite reads from the year! Absolutely astonishing how creative this story is!
From the mysterious creatures, enchantments, and the cottage core vibes with darker undertones, I am absolutely hooked. Seriously so many amazing details in this !! I was glued to it for two days 😅 The romance in this had me screaming !! Grumpy x Sunshine is my favorite 🤭 I love Bash and Alora so much and I appreciate the playfulness and banter in their relationship, and the dynamic around it, as well as the pure acceptance in their for each other (I can’t spoil it with the quote I want at the end but it really got me.) Here one of my favs instead:
“Maybe I’m an obsessive type, after all.”
I highlighted so much 😅 I also just loved how Alora is kind and thoughtful in everything she does, and I think that’s a big part of this story that just absolutely touched my heart. She is sunshine. I also really liked Lennox, Ellie Turkens and some of the other side characters. All so beautifully written and I would gladly read another story just about life in Enver 🤣
I absolutely despised the villain in this story, and it rage baited me so hard. The ending was so satisfying. Gloria is so good at making me want to come into the story and open a can of bear mace !
I could go on but truly, this was a wonderful read and I loved it!
*Make sure to check TWs*
Thanks so much to the author for an ARC!! Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Review: I don’t know if I could have read the perfect cozy fall fantasy book! I loved the writing style! It fit the story perfectly! I adored the main characters in this book except for the villain he truly angered me! But that goes to show how effective her writing is and has done her job right! I couldn’t get enough of the romance it was adorable and it had me kicking my feet in the air! I was not ready to say goodbye to these characters! The world Gloria Bottelman has truly created a whimsical world with unique creatures and I want more!
Thank you so much to the author Gloria Bottelman for giving me the opportunity to read this book in advance!
I received this book as an ARC copy and I immediately fell in love with the cover. It's so cute and aesthetic! And I think I'm in love with this book! 🥹🤏🏼 The world it created and the powers of each characters are so amazing! And there were so many scenes that made me snigger in delight.
What I loved about the book - The narration was so simple but the imagery Gloria Bottelman created was vivid. - I felt nostalgic because this book gave me Harry Potter vibes throughout but also gave me some Serpent & Dove series because of the kind of magic involved
And i absolutely loved the relationship Alora and Ezra had (I'm not using the real name here. Don't want to spoil it 😌)
ARC REVIEW⭐️⭐️ I had such a difficult time putting this book down! The world building was what I felt like a slow burn. I love having slow burns because that to me means that there was so much thought process in the writing.
I was obsessed with the mmc and the fmc. I was at work thinking about these book and trying to figure things out and figure out how everything would fall into place.
Thank you so much Gloria for entrusting me with your book. I cannot wait for it to be published to add to my collection ❤️
I swear the book itself is enchanted. I seriously could not put it down and just ate it up. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to ARC read this, I loved Untethered but I think this might be my fave by Gloria.
Alora is just such a vibe. I want to live in her little flat with her terrace full of plants, she’s living my dream. She’s also such a funny character. Her thoughts had me giggling so hard. Just imagine if she said half the things she thought out loud?? I love that she evolved from a people pleaser to someone who lives her truth. There were some points in the story where I just thought, “oh Alora. You’re SO pretty.” Hahaha she just gave such a ditzy vibe but it actually all made sense why in the end.
The MMC???? AHHHHH!!!! At 50% I was internally screaming (internally because it was late and I didn’t want to wake anyone). No spoilers but I called the twist early but the way Gloria revealed it was so good.
The villain?? Just diabolical. Absolute pond scum. I couldn’t have come up with a worse character. Gloria literally makes the worst villains and it’s delicious. I’ll eat it up every time.
I think this book is marketed as “cozy” but it had my heart racing at a few points. It’s full of mystery and magic, I’m super excited for the next installment of these interconnected stories!
This is an ARC review, but it is my own thoughts and ✨️Honest✨️ opinion.
WOW. I literally just finished it and the ending could not have been more perfect!
This book had fabulous world building, the details made it feel like I was walking down the streets, decorating the bakery, seeing shadows of my own.
Alora is such a morally strong and sweet character that you can't help but fall in love with. The story follows her, a designer, as she is hired to design room 25 in a mysterious mansion. This mansion requires an exclusive membership and a ton of secrets.
This story unravels with a dark plot and mystery needing to be solved. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen and what was happening already.
The banter and tension between Alora and several characters was incredible.
I give this 4 5 stars but goodreads doesn't allow that, because all I was missing was that little extra feels, you know like goosebumps or tears? aha
This is an ARC review but all opinions are my own.
Loved this book so much! I love the writing style and the story. It felt like a fresh new idea with fun twists and turns. This book really got me out of a reading slump and I couldn’t put it down. I’m usually a spicy romance girl, but the tension in this book and the little bit of closed door romance really worked. Big fan of Bash and Alora and there are so many other likable characters too. Excited to read the other books that will tie into this one.
If you’re looking for a book that is cozy and whimsical with a nice dose of grumpy x sunshine romance and some unique fantasy.. look no further!
Can a book be dark and whimsical at the same time?! This was it! Even the dark parts ended up magical and promising. The quirky characters were my favorite. And Mrs Flops! Gloria does it again!
Gloria has done it again. Wow, wow, wow! I loved this SO much, it was stunning! I haven't read a fantasy book in a while so I was nervous I wouldn't be able to get stuck in. Boy was I wrong. This might just be the cosiest, most magical story I could've delved into. Gloria's writing is exceptional, I was fully swept away in the magic of Enver. It was so unique and so entrancing, as were the characters.
I had so much fun reading this, it was whimsy and magical. The imagery was beautiful, it almost felt like a dream. Some of this was perhaps predictable, but not in a bad way. More of a 'I see where this is going and I am so there.'. Alora and Bash were everything to me. Their connection was so powerful and captivating, I was waiting for any and every single interaction. The romance was done so well, it was a really well paced slow burn. It never got boring. Alora was the sunshine character and Bash was the morally grey one. I loved them both so much. Their personalities were so different but they worked so well together. I also loved Lennox's character, her developing friendship with Alora was so cute. I normally find extremely sunshiney characters rather frustrating to read, but I didn't have that with Alora at all. I also loved how big a part animals were to the story. It made it even cosier and more magical.
I am so grateful to Gloria for allowing me to be an ARC reader for both of her books now, there isn't a damn thing she could write that I wouldn't read. I have genuinely fallen in love with her brilliant story telling and her ability to create such amazing work. I highly recommend reading this book, it's absolutely perfect for this season.
Potions & Peculiarities by Gloria Bottelman is a journey through a charming town with nothing to hide but friendly neighbors.
This book was cozy. Beautiful descriptions of the town, bakeries with flowers, a single travel cart with a lovely donkey to get to and fro places. What isn’t to love? We open with Alora traveling to an Opulence Museum for a designing job. And the rest of the story is a whirl of masked villains, mythical creatures, and maybe too much gold. But who wouldn’t fall for the mysterious person behind the mask, or the dream like fantasy the Opulence mansion gives you? I highly enjoyed reading through Alora’s journey, and it was super hard to pull myself away from the world the author created.
🌹grumpy vs sunshine 🌹hate to love 🌹magic and whimsical 🌹found family 🌹dark fantasy x cottagecore
The characters were amazing each with their own layers being pealed back, page by page. The perfect and dreamy village that we are placed in becoming so much not so. Alora becoming a FMC who keeps getting into trouble without knowing it. Bash becoming a character that kept becoming more and more mysterious. How can you not be pulled into this world. I’d say that the world the author created was amazing, and the questions she created were so intriguing. I loved every vibe she created in the book, every antic the characters got up to, and every magic created too. This world seemed like a great place to live in (at least some places). And I just loved it.
I’d recommend this book to someone who wants a cozy, mystery with cottage core vibes, mystery masked men, and a strong FMC.
What do you get when you cross a girl with a dream, a magical imagination, a touch of danger, and an interior design job to die for? No, this isn't a joke, it's pure magic through and through!
Alora Pennigrim is no ordinary girl. Born to live an extraordinary life, she stakes her claim in a magical town, content to design her way to a shop of her very own. When an opportunity too good to pass up comes her way, how could she refuse? Add in some masked bad guys terrorising her town, and a chance (or three) at romance and you've got everything you could need in a book!
Potions & Peculiarities is truly enchanting. From the moment I picked it up, I didn't want to stop. The story drew me in right from the get go with the mysterious invitation Aurora receives to visit Opulence Mansion for a design job, and didn't let me go until I finished reading, and honestly, it still hasn't let me go.
Pretty much all the characters had my heart (especially the little old lady who runs the local bookshop, I love her) and were all so fleshed out, even the most minor of characters that I even fell in love with characters that only appeared a fraction of the time.
As a certified Mystery Girlie™, I fear I maybe went a bit overboard with trying to guess what the hidden storylines could be, and tbh, I'm glad some of them didn't come true! Though some of my deducting did make for an interesting take on some things and some people (no spoilers here!).
Gloria's writing is so beautiful, pulling you in to the whimsy and (pardon the pun) opulence of the story. And the cover??? Don't even get me started, it's so pretty! I know that Alora's story is tied up by the end of the book, but I'm so excited for there to be more books set in the same world.
Disclaimer: Thank you to Gloria Bottelman for this e-ARC. I was provided this ARC for review only, I was not paid for this review. All opinions are my own.
From the very first page, this whimsical story set in the grand Opulence Mansion captures the imagination with a rare kind of magic. The mansion itself seems to breathe enchantment and mystery.
The cast is delightfully peculiar: characters who are eccentric yet endearing, each carrying secrets that unfurl with irresistible charm. Their interactions feel like an enchanting dance—full of quirky dialogue, unexpected alliances, and moments that verge on the surreal. Despite their oddities, or perhaps because of them, they feel deeply human and wonderfully memorable.
What elevates the story is its prose. The writing is lush without being heavy, lyrical without losing clarity. The author’s voice weaves effortlessly between whimsy and poignancy, crafting scenes that sparkle with imagination yet carry emotional weight.
By the end, the world of Opulence Mansion has settled into the reader’s mind like a dream they’re reluctant to leave. This is a beautifully written tale that doesn’t just entertain—it transports. A magical, immersive journey from beginning to end.
This story was a lot of fun! I truly enjoyed Alora and Bash’s relationship, the banter was precious and the plot was so engaging!
As can be said with most fantasy novels, the beginning had me a little lost. There were so many names, titles, and variables to be keeping track of, but it became easy to follow very quickly. I ate the latter half of the novel up within a matter of days, which I only do when I’m truly enjoying it!
The plot twists are somewhat predictable but nonetheless very interesting for the audience. I also have so much respect with how clean the novel is, not leaning to sex to fill in plot holes. However, there is a theme of lust that is fun to play with at times…
All around a great fantasy adventure, I look forward to future stand-alone books in the series!
I received a free ARC copy for an honest review, thank you to the author for this opportunity!
Another amazing story from author Gloria Bottelman! Potions and Peculiarities was such a fun and unique read. Alora lands her dream job to decorate a room at the exclusive Opulence Mansion, hoping to someday open a shop of her own. She soon discovers all is not as it seems at the mansion and her beloved town and sets out to unravel their secrets. The writing and imagery in Potions and Peculiarities is beautiful, giving us such an enchanting picture of the magical town of Enver and mysterious Opulence Mansion. I loved the main character Alora, her whimsy and curiosity. She meets many interesting characters along the way as she works to uncover a sinister plot and save her dreams. Such a great mix of cozy fantasy, whimsical characters and settings, and dark mystery!
I really enjoyed the whimsical feels of this book!
It’s honestly giving Alice in the Wonderland vibes, which is one of my favorite tales. I love all the quirky magic involved and unraveling the mystery of the mansion.
Although I dislike how some parts seemed longer than it should be while parts that should be delved into deeper were too short and left me unsatisfied.
The banter between the couple was so fun but something seemed to be missing from their relationship?? This bit also left unsatisfied.
Over all though, I think ✨enchanting✨ is how I would describe reading this book and I still really had a good time reading it.
I’ve read Gloria’s debut before, so I knew going into this one that it would be quite different. While the premise was interesting, the low stakes and slow pace just weren’t for me. I don’t usually read cozy fantasy, and though there was a lot happening, it somehow still felt like nothing happened. I tried to push through but finally DNF’d at 35%.
That said, this in no way means it’s a bad book — it just wasn’t my kind of story. It actually shows how versatile Gloria is when it comes to writing across genres. If you’re someone who enjoys cozy fantasy, this one might be right up your alley.
This is the second book I’ve had the opportunity to ARC read for this author. Being her second published book, I’m so impressed at how great her writing is! I tried to pinpoint the vibes I got from this story, but it really was so unique and honestly even different than what I expected from the promotions about it on social media. (Which I loved, because it didn’t give anything away but got me interested in reading it) I enjoyed so many things from the cozy world, the characters, the twists - I had such a fun time reading it and can’t wait for more books from this author! 🖤
Potions and peculiarities by Gloria Bottleman, this book exceeded my expectations. I am not usually want to read on the fantasy side and I picked this one up as an arc review and absolutely loved it! The story was amazing with lots of twist and turns. The imagination and creativity that went into the story is very impressive. It definitely pulled me in and kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next. There is a very cute romance aspect to the story as well. Also has the best HEA! I will be reading more books by Gloria Bottleman. I recommend you try this one if you love fantasy with a small romance trope.
This story was so mystical, dark, and.. peculiar 😁 It was really fun to read. I liked Alora's strong will and her relationship with Bash from day one. They have a really good banter. The world building and plotline were really interesting, as was the magic system, with all the wicked, magical artifacts and shop owners. There were some tense and somewhat dark scenes, but it had a cozy vibe as well. And the ending was really nice. Overall it was an engaging story to read! Potions & Peculiarities is the first book of a planned series of interconected standalone novels. I'd love to read Lennox's story next ❤️🔥 Thank you Gloria for this advance copy!
I loved this book! Gloria does such a good job of describing the places and people in her books and really making you feel like you are there. There was a good amount of mystery mixed in with the fantasy/whimsical vibe, which I really enjoyed. Alora is such a fun FMC, and I loved getting to know her and her personality throughout the book. Overall 5 stars!
A curious, and believe it or not people, peculiar story. Unlike anything I’ve ever read 😍
This stand alone cosy fantasy is filled to the brim with intrigue, mystery, enchantments, tension, yearning (oohhh the yearning), bargains, and a found family to warm your soul. Gloria had me turning page, after page, after page, to see how it all unfolded - and it didn’t disappoint.
What a wonderful second novel by Bottelman! She transports you to a different world that is only thought about in dreams. The FMC is whimsical and imaginative. The story flows so well and makes it hard to put down! 👏🏻
I read this book as an ARC and it was fun to read. It’s described as a cozy fantasy but it’s got a kick to it. Alora is a nice whimsical girl who fits in perfectly with her nice little town where everyone smiles and helps each other but the way her attitude becomes the complete opposite with the MMC is hilarious. We have an actual morally gray MMC with good banter, weird side characters that you don’t know if you can trust, a mansion full of magic and performances, and moments that had me laughing out loud.
If there was one word I could use to sum up this story it would be imaginative. Neurospicy aphantasia makes it difficult to conjure up mental images in accordance to what I'm reading, but the emotions are entirely undeniable, and what I felt on this ride was pure bliss. Not the enchanted kind.
I loved every second of this story. The character development as layers were peeled back. The perfectly placed twists to keep me invested right up until the last words. The unexpected reveals. And, of course, the ever desired HEA. Let's be honest, I'm a sucker for a good HEA. Sorry not sorry.
I would absolutely recommend this read to fans of cozy mysteries with grumpy/sunshine vibes. Five stars.
Ravenheart Rating: 10/10 Spice Factor: Level 5 closed door
3.75 Ah, how this brought me back to my love of cozy fantasies!
This story is so whimsical and cozy while still having a strong plot! I would say it's medium-paced, and I thought it moved along great. The world building in the story is utterly enchanting and entrancing, just like the actual 'magic' going on in the story. Opulence Mansion is both wonderous and dark, enchanting and distracting, intrusive and secretive. I was gripped to learn about the world and magic - it is a 'magic-normative' sort of world, a light fantasy that works really well. Different characters have different 'enchantments,' so to say, and the way it played into the 'magical' rooms of the mansion were super interesting to learn about. I would have loved to learn about more of the other rooms and performers, and in general the abilities/enchantments of more characters!
I cared so much for the characters and thought they were developed well! The two main characters have rich backgrounds, and learning about Alora's past throughout the story in little snippets was compelling and truly made me feel for her. Her ability to turn her imagination into literal reality is both a blessing and a personal 'curse' for her, which made me sympathize. Her arc is strong - I loved seeing her become more confident and change her perspective, quickly seeing the power of good with her magic. I loved the little town of Enver and the side characters we meet along the way, along with the characters at the mansion. Bash's character is charming and lovably broody. The slight grumpy x sunshine and hate to love tropes present were so much fun! That said, the romance didn't entirely hit the mark for me, as even though there was a slow build, there didn't seem to be a ton of foundation as to *why* they had feelings for each other; at the end, there are plentiful reasons, but early on I didn't 'buy' it. That aside, I loved their connection!
The conflict is gripping, too! Alora is a determined FMC who can sense wrongness around her, and she's compassionate to an extent that she takes risks to keep others safe. Opulence mansion is revealed early on to be more sinister than it appears, and its employees are truly *going through it*, to say the least. Following Alora uncover the secrets is SUCH a fun ride and made for a great story. Bash's character arc is also heart-wrenching, but I loved getting to know him and how his actions are almost silent in a way. He shows his true feelings through little things; he isn't advertising them, he isn't out to be admired for his good heart, he just does it. And oh, how it makes me love him.
I love how the story speaks to 'evil' - what seems good is not always built on the best of intentions. Things and people are sneaky, hiding behind a disguise. The feeling of being trapped by what seems like something wonderful is explored, and I thought it had great messaging about these ideas! The tie in of the Master and his 'henchmen' Urchins in harming people who know 'too much' is a scary but also relevant notion that hits home with current social issues a bit. I do wish there were a bit more clarity on why townspeople's memories were taken - it seemed that anyone who just said anything bad about the mansion had their memories taken, which didn't seem like enough of a reason. I wanted to know what they knew about the mansion that made them a threat.
I was able to guess some 'reveals' pretty early on, but that might be because I'm a stickler for details and really try to make connections.
I was on the edge of my seat at the end of the story. While it is absolutely a cozy and whimsical read, there are still stakes and danger. I couldn't stop reading to find out what would become of the characters, of Alora, of the mansion. Again, I just loved all of the magic in the story - I would have loved even more or more development of other characters' abilities and the magic inside the mansion and town as a whole.
I would absolutely recommend this to cozy fantasy fans!
Alora is a designer, and has dreams of opening her own shop. When she’s invited to work at the grand Opulence Mansion where one can only go if they have a membership, she accepts happily. Each room in this mansion is a unique and Alora is tasked by the Master to design a new room. She has one month. And if successful, will be paid handsomely and even gain a one year membership to the mansion. However, as she works, she starts to notice odd things at the mansion and even in town that shows the Opulence Mansion may not be all she truly expected.
I enjoyed this immensely. It is so well written. I felt as if I was experiencing everything the same way Alora did. I was drawn into the charm of the town, the quaintness and coziness, and as the story progresses, the darkness and ugly undertones start to reveal themselves and makes you wonder if this town is actually as charming and cozy as you first thought.
This story turned darker than I expected. It quite literally starts off so jaunty, and happy. It felt cozy, and then it just slowly turned into a dark story that still had the humor and wit intact which still gave it that charming atmosphere despite the darkness leaking through.
Alora is absolutely adorable and charming. She has goals, and is determined to meet them. She’s humorous, she loves a good mystery, is very observant, and loves designing. She has a big secret and has to carefully keep it, which at times she does reveal it on accident, and that pop of humor comes out. I really enjoyed her character.
There are quite a few characters to meet in this book. I think the author had fun with the names. Some of them seemed to tell you who the person is and their personality from the get-go and others just had such quaint names perfect for the town of Enver. Some characters are more prominent such as Lennox(who’s adorable as well), William, Bash, and Mrs. Feebledire. There’s a lot more, but they each had their own personalities and some I liked or some I disliked, maybe even extremely disliked.
The romance is such a mystery. Alora seems to be charmed by a few different men, and leaves you wondering who is the true romantic interest. I enjoyed how the romance played out. It is unique and built really well to the point that Alora just trusted him implicitly. I’ll just say I loved them together.
This story went on longer than I thought, and things occurred that I wasn’t expecting that gave the story a more realistic approach to it that I really appreciated. Sometimes the good guys really need to work for that happy ending.
I again truly enjoyed this story and I soooo look forward to more in this world!
Thank you to the author for the e-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book might actually be enchanted, because I could not stop reading it! The author’s debut Untethered was one of my favorite reads last year, but Potions & Peculiarities has cemented her as an auto-buy author for me.
Alora Pennigrim is a small-town designer with a big dream and an even bigger secret. When she gets a contract to design a room for the magical and exclusive Opulence Mansion, it seems too good to be true… and it probably is. As Alora begins uncovering the darkness lurking beneath the enchanted mansion’s glittering facade, she also struggles to conceal her own secret magic. To make matters worse, she encounters a snarky potions shop owner who is far too alluring, and certainly up to no good. Someone is after Alora’s magic, but her heart might be at the most risk, and it’ll take all her kindness, wits, and strength to break her enchanted contract… and perhaps, find love along the way.
This book is difficult to describe, because it packs so much into the pages. It is a cozy fantasy, but it also tackles some dark themes and explores complex characters and emotions. While it’s an easy read, it’s not a “fluff” book; there are real stakes in this story, that often feel high because as a reader you love the characters so much. It is cozy fantasy in the same way the Emily Wilde books are cozy fantasy: you can expect deeply lovable characters, laugh-out-loud moments, a guaranteed HEA- but also, legitimate stakes and sometimes even creepy things. (This is my personal favorite type of cozy fantasy!)
This story felt somewhat like “Howls Moving Castle” meets “Pride & Prejudice”, and it was such a delight to read. Alora is one of my favorite FMCs ever; she is kind, smart, so funny, and felt incredibly real. I would legitimately want to be her friend in real life. And the MMC…I can’t say as much about him as I want to because of spoilers, so you’re just going to have to read the book; but this was also one of my favorite MMCs I’ve read this year. Every time they were on page together, I grinned at my book like an idiot because of the banter and sweet / sassy / romantic moments. I would literally read a whole book of them interacting with each other. Gloria truly writes amazing characters, and as much as I loved Untethered, I think I love Potions & Peculiarities even more. I really hope we get to return to this world in future books; I will read anything she writes moving forward!
I would recommend Potions & Peculiarities to readers who love cozy fantasy, sunshine / grumpy romances, and fairytale-esque stories.
Thank you so much to the author for the arc! All thoughts & opinions in the review are my own.
5⭐️ and closed door spice This book is cozy fantasy masterpiece and stood out from many other books to me with the unique storyline, the authors detailed and enthralling writing style and whimsy/mystery she incorporates into the story. It hooked me from the first page and kept me intrigued the entire time. I loved every moment of it. There were multiple twists that kept me guessing and invested. I enjoyed the introduction of the multiple different types of magical individuals that possess peculiar abilities and the friendships that the FMC makes along the way. The characters were described in detail and the author does a wonderful job of painting the scenery of the town and the mansion and quite literally transporting you into the book. There is a happily ever after and epilogue that makes me wonder if the author will write another book in this world with some of the secondary characters which I would love.
Synopsis: A mansion with rooms of untold pleasures and joys with a membership with a hefty price tag. Alora the FMC is offered a contract to design a special room with the end result of a paycheck that would pave the way to achieving her dream of owning her very own designing shop. However, nothing is as wonderful as it seems and the mansion holds twisted and terrible secrets and deceptions. Will she be able to finish the task and still escape the mansion’s clutches?
The banter between Alora and the multiple MMCs is hilarious and tension filled in the best way. Who will she chose? Alora has the most delightful dialogue and interactions. She is truly sunshine. Also notable mention is her adorable pet rabbit. Mrs. Hopps

Thank you for the opportunity to read this as an eARC! Highly recommend!
Welcome to The Opulence Mansion! You might never leave…👀
The book is extraordinary! Never a dull moment. So full of enchantment and wonder. I was constantly blown away by the author’s creativity. Tim Burton would have a field day making this book into a movie. The creatures, the magic and the type of world in this story are definitely his vibe. This is a book that needs to be experienced. My review will not do it justice without giving away spoilers.
Alora is a amazing designer that hopes to one day open her own shop. In order to do this, she signs a contract to design a new room in the exclusive Opulence Mansion. Memberships are extremely expensive and what happens in the many enchanted rooms is a mystery. As the days pass, Alora starts to see a more ominous side to the mansion. Her curious behavior could help or harm her. Secrets are around every corner and in every room but Alora has her own secret that she views as a curse but could be what saves her.
She runs into an alluring shopkeeper at Potions & Peculiarities and can’t seem to get him out of her head. She claims to detest him but his green eyes are everywhere and the tension is thick when she is near him. The banter between these two is hilarious.
This story has sinister villains and a few broody males. One is shrouded shadows and one is a snarky shopkeeper. We get a wise charismatic elder that owns a bookstore cafe and a fire performer that has Alora breaking out of her introverted shell. We have a gang that is running around stealing people’s memories. A magical forest full of magical creatures and if you enter then you will be lost forever.
