this was so sweet and pulled on my heartstrings:)
I wanted to adopt the kitty 😺 I wish it was longer so I could see more of the furbaby's life after the stories conclusion, bet mrs claus would have the funniest stories
A nice emergency read for an Uncle to have. The real good news is I don't have to read it 20 times in a row today. It may come up again before Christmas though.
It is Christmas Eve at the North Pole and the Reindeer are getting excited about the job ahead of them. Elves danced around as they got the sleigh ready to dash off into the night. As the sleigh landed on a snow covered roof, Rudolph hears a sound that ends up being a little lost kitten. Not knowing where the kitten’s home is, Rudolph puts him in a hay sack to keep warm. Broome the head elf realizes that the kitten will not survive if they don’t bring it on the sleigh with them. Seeing a post box with the name O’Malley, Broome thinks that is a good name for the kitten.
But can they take it to the North Pole with them? “Only those born in the North Pole can live here: it’s the Christmas magic”. What are they going to do with this little homeless kitten begging for help?
A sweet Christmas story about the magic of Christmas, extending much beyond what the residents of the North Pole are used to. A little cat O’Malley brings his own charm to a jubilant time of year. Simple pen drawings and a small book for young ones to hold on to. Great size for stocking stuffing and giving to young children. I typically don’t read stories about Santa as we try to keep the meaning of Christmas to be about Jesus. I do like how the magic of Christmas in this story was love, and that is what Christmas is about!
A cute, festive, short story that will get kids in the Christmas Spirit, A Christmas Secret is about an adorable little black kitten O'Malley who finds himself lost at the North Pole. This charming story is about friendship and love, and allows readers to get a glimpse into life at the North Pole for Santa and his reindeers. The story does a great job at reminding readers that the over all meaning of this time of year is about love.
While the black & white illustrations are simple and fit the story well, I think they'd be more appealing to younger kids if they had been in color. This by no means takes away from the cuteness of the story. This book is the perfect size for kids who are at an intermediate level for reading, though I found some of the words to be a bit out of the targeted reading ages level. I think with the help of an adult, kids would find it easier to read. This adorable book is the perfect size to fit into any stocking. It's a book I'd recommend picking up for the upcoming holiday season.
Santa’s reindeer discover a lost black kitten named O’Malley while they are helping Santa deliver presents on Christmas Eve. Unable to find his home, they hide O’Malley on the sleigh and keep his presence a secret from Santa. Once they arrive back at the North Pole, many of the residents help take care of the tired, hungry little kitten. What would Santa say if he knew?
This is an unbelieveably adorable story. You have Santa’s reindeer acting like a kid hiding something he discovered on the way home from school. They know they’re not supposed to bring O’Malley home, but what are they going to do? It’s cold out. Besides, isn’t Christmas the season of peace, love, and joy? While I wish the interior illustrations were in color, they are still cute. The small size of the book makes it easy for little hands to hold too.
I won this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. What better story for Christmas than the reindeer rescuing a lost kitten finding a new home for him. Lovely illustrations!
Above the reindeer’s breath a small cry could be heard, causing Dasher to lean forward and stare at the snow. Far below, amidst all the snow, was a tiny black figure, trying with all its might, and not succeeding, to move through the snow. The faint cry drifted upward toward the reindeer and Dasher sticking his nose low, heard a hissing sound and got a scratch on the nose. Quickly pulling his head up, he exclaimed “It’s a cat! And he scratched me.” “
Dasher tried and failed to find the kitten's home. The reindeer would try again, but now they needed to take care of the kitten's immediate needs.
Dasher gently nudged the tiny black cat. The kitten, now laying still in the snow, tried to raise his head, his eyes blinking at Dasher, as he whispered: "Please help me.” The reindeer agreed that they couldn't just leave him here; or he would not survive. Dasher suggested that they put him in the hay sack; to warm him up. The kitten shivered as he tried to snuggle into the hay. In a trembling voice the kitten cried “I am so very cold,” so Dasher began to nuzzle the hay warming the kitten. The kitten inquired if the reindeer were his family.
Resuming the search for the kitten's home, they followed the kitten’s prints which stopped at a mailbox marked O’Malley, before an empty and bare house.
Wilma, a mother of four mice, expessed her fear that the cat would hurt her young, and Dasher assured her that O’Malley.an orphan and starving; could not hurt anyone.
Later, as Wilma distracted Mrs. Claus, milk went splashing along the counter top then onto the floor into a small bowl the mice had placed there. One by one, Wilma’s family began to dip their paws in the milk feeding O’Malley one drop at a time. O’Malley’s tongue began to lap at the milk as the mice danced with delight.
Then Wilma asked Dasher if Santa knew about O’Malley., and asked for someone to find Broome,, the head elf. " We need to find a home for O’Malley," Wilma said to Broome , to which Broome replied, “Remember only those born in the North Pole can live here; it’s the Christmas magic.”
Overhearing what Brooke said, O’Malley decided to leave the North Pole. The snow began falling heavier, and the icy cold wind slowed his every step. Exhausted, O’Malley curled up beside a snow drift and began to cry, “Where do I belong? I have no home no family.”
Reindeer, mice, and elves scurried about the North Pole to find O’Malley.
This is a wonderful heart warming old fashioned spirit of Christmas story. The illustrations look like little paintings. The storyline is "Night Before Christmas" worthy. I received this book by winning a contest. My lucky day!! The reindeer were helping Santa deliver toys when Dasher found a little kitten crying in the snow. He looked all around for his home. He could not find one. The little kitten looked up at him and asked him, " Are you my family?". What did he do? Did he tell Santa? Did he tell Broome, the elf in the sleigh?". You get to use your own magic. Reading!! Reading helps you uncover the mysteries of this story. Happy Reading!! 😺 💖

While Santa and his reindeer are on their annual flight on Christmas Eve, the reindeer discover a little black kitten. They search for its home, but when Santa appears after he has given toys to a family, they fly away with the kitten.
At the North Pole, a family of mice acquires milk for the cute little kitten, named O’Malley. When O’Malley learns that he cannot stay at the North Pole, he leaves. As the snow gets higher, a hand rescues him. Meanwhile, the reindeer cannot find O’Malley, but find him lying in Santa’s lap.
This was just a cute little story with illustrations.
The North Pole is all excited because it’s Christmas Eve – time to be off bringing cheer to all the girls and boys. At one to f the stops the reindeer waiting for Santa on top of the roof – hear a noise – sending Dasher to find out what it is, he finds a little tiny black kitten. Not knowing what to do they sneak it into a small bag of hay and take it back to the North Pole where, after the mice feed it milk – it just disappears. Finally finding a good home right on Santa’s lap.
How can you not love reading this little Christmas story to a young child? It has everything ... presents, reindeer, Santa, a lost little kitten, lovely illustrations and the loving spirit of the holiday. A wonderful message for this time of the year. I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
This book has great potential, but, for me, it fell a bit short. The story is cute, but I didn't care for some of the illustrations. They have bright colors, but the characters all seemed a bit blurry. I would prefer crisper images. All that said, my young granddaughters would enjoy this book, but I don't think it would be one that they would come back to over and over.
This story has potential, but structurally needs work. The story is divided into blocks, presented as paragraphs. There isn't any division for dialogue or multiple paragraphs in each section. The progression doesn't always flow well, or logically. Having said that, the concept is cute and the illustrations are charming.
everything you would expect from a Christmas story. A lost kitten is found and brought to the North Pole, but this is against the rules. The reindeer and elves work with the residents of the North Pole to save the kitten and not upset Sants.
I won a Kindle edition of this book. I did not realize it was a children's book until I opened it. It was a very cute story, though, and I would recommend it
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. It is a short, sweet, children's story about what happens when Santa's Reindeer try to keep a secret. The perfect read to put me in the holiday spirit!
I won this ebook through a Goodreads giveaway! This was a cute Christmas story! Even though when I read this it wasn't Christmas time, I still enjoyed it during the winter month of January. The primary focus was around Santa, his reindeer, elves, mice and the adorable lost kitten! A good children’s story for the holidays!
I won a free Kindle book from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. The book has a cute storyline of the reindeer saving a lost kitten on Christmas Eve but it needs some editing help.
That is probably how I'd describe this book in one word-cute. But then, I'd say any 30-page picture book was cute. SO, let us go to our senior advisor on children's books (my amazing 8-year-old sis) for more details. Here are her opinions (edited slightly to prevent grammatical mistakes):
On the storyline? Loved it! On the Pictures? I do not like the pictures because I think the pictures should have more details and should be colorful. On the Characters? I love the characters. Prancer is my favorite character in the book because he is funny and nice, and because Prancer is my favorite reindeer. On the Language? It was hard for me to understand. On typos: None! Hurray! On the Ending? I love the ending of this book because it is very nice and sweet. The ending is my favorite part of the book.
A Christmas Secret is a must-read for kids to get into the Christmas spirit! Filled with 30 pages of adorable characters, simple pictures and charming storyline, it is simply beautiful. The book has a small size that would be perfect for stockings and little hands. The font seems to be perfect for a new reader, the only hitch seems to be the intermediate-level words that don't match up with the target audience. That may work out well if you and your child are planning on reading it together. You won't be able to resist saying "Aww!"
