This story certainly hooked me and carried me along so that I hated to put it down. A little strange at first, once the quest, so to speak, became clear, everything worked out. The humor in the novel is delightful, with very little to point to as an issue. I don't want to give much away, but I can't wait for the next book so that the main characters can finally get over the hurdles holding them back. If I didn't know more was on the way, I could have screamed at the end. Ms. Etherton has crafted a world of magic with clear cut good and evil, created a separation of Light and Dark magic called ShantiMari, and motivated characters in understandable ways to keep the pace going. So nice to see a fantasy with real family-conflict issues.

I was underwhelmed by this book, but interested enough to read the second one. I think the big problem with it is the prophesy. We never find out exactly what it is or what the heroine is supposed to do. The other and more major problem is that there is no evidence that Taryn is needed at this particular moment. She's supposed to bring balance back to the world, but everything is pretty peaceful. There's no urgency in The Stones of Kaldaar at all. There's nothing that will happen a certain time that she must get ready for, nothing really that's happening now, and nothing much to stop from happening. Taryn goes from place to place doing whatever and it seems pretty aimless, particularly in the second book.
The world building was good and I liked Taryn and Rhoane, the hero. I liked that they were given time to get to know one another. It was a nice change that they needed time to trust each other. They fell in love pretty quickly, but love is complicated and certainly doesn't go hand in hand with trust.
My second criticism might just be my problem. The world is complex and there are a lot of characters in it and I found it difficult to keep it all straight. Ms. Etherton doesn't cut me a break at all. There was no reiteration of who someone was or a reminder of something that happened before. I know I've complained about authors doing this too much in the past, but I think there's a middle ground. You could say "said X, John's son" or "she looked at the orb given to her by X" instead of just "she looked at the orb". This is a much bigger problem in book two so be prepared.
My third criticism - the baddies or grey area people have lots of sex, the good women are virgins and the good men are virgins or mostly so. It came off as judgmental.
I did stay interested enough to read the second book and I may read the third one when it comes out, but this series isn't exciting enough to get me to reread it.

I received this as a free giveaway via firstreads goodreads. The story has intrigue and keeps you guessing right up to the end what is the main plot. At first you think it is all about Taryn and it is. How she adapts to her new circumstances and what she learns and who to trust and what not. The final few chapters deals with another underlying plot. Which had me and I didn't want to put the book down.
Other points is this is an Adult book. The sex scenes can be confronting if you didn't know they were there as I was not aware. Also there is violence and it can be a little graphic. Having said this it is what is needed to really understand the world Taryn is sent to.

Info dumps meet Three's Company
I kept waiting for this book to get good. I got halfway through on the hope the endless "I couldn't tell you. It was for your own good!" and behind the scenes everyone is evil but all sunshine and light to others to move in, but it didn't. Maybe it does in the second half but I'd lost interest by that time.
That's just so much info dumping for the first ten percent of the book and the lead is very passive for all her claims at being unstoppable.
There's definitely better books out there.

The Stones of Kaldaar (Now has become The Stones of Resurrection), is one of the books that makes keep saying "Just one more chapter" when it's 12A.M in the morning😂
I'm really hooked and I can't stop reading it.
This is the sequel to The Prince of Swords (previously, The Darathi Vorsi King) and it tells the journey of Taryn, Rhoane's betrothed as the prophecy says, and the Darennsai.
Taryn lives her whole life on Earth, but when one day she and Brandt suddenly transports to a whole new world, she discovers who she really is and the truths Brandt hide from her.
I love how you tell the story from different perspectives, we get to know the motives of the protagonists as well as the antagonists. I have to admit I'm quite confused what Marissa's true intention is, she looks like she's doing all the thing just to please Zakael. Love the bond between Taryn and her younger sisters, I thought they're going to be just like Marissa, but they're far from it😂
And the love stories? Hayden's and Sabina's is the cutest, Rhoane's and Taryn's is second and I'm still confused what the relationship between Faelara and Baehlon is😂 Are they a thing now?
Also, as cruel and indifferent as Lliandra might seem to be, I know deep down, she loves all of her daughters.
As I've mentioned before, I'm in love with this books and I can't wait to dive into The Temple of Sacrifice💛

Taryn is completely out of her element. Not only is she a Princess but is supposed to be the savior who brings balance to the world. Her human upbringing doesn’t prepare her for what is expected of. The only constant is her feelings for Rhoane. Together they are strong but once she brings all her magic together they will be stronger. She is thwarted by enemies close and far away but her close knit group of friends have her back. There is betrayal and heartbreak but also some family very dear to her.
The characters are strong and the story is full of twists and turns. A great read.

An amazing start to the series
I stumbled across this series to get me out of a reading slump and I have to say I was not disappointed.
The world building, the plot has been utterly encompassing. Our FMC has been thrust into a world she knows nothing about, as we follow her trying to figure her way round court etiquette as well as evils lurking in the background. Our MMC has devoted his life to a person he has only just met. There are some absolutely swoon worthy moments and I can’t wait to see where the next book will take them.

The Stones of Resurrection was an entertaining read with a lot of potential. I enjoyed the unique world and the hints of magic and adventure throughout the story. The plot had some exciting moments, but overall it felt a bit uneven, and a few parts dragged more than I expected. The characters were intriguing, though I didn’t fully connect with them, which made some of their struggles less engaging. It’s a solid start to the series, but it didn’t quite capture me enough to give it a higher rating.

This story had me hooked from the beginning. It was hard to put it down. The characters are well developed with refreshing depth (especially Taryn, the protagonist) and intriguing relationships. The author has created a fascinating world that exists parallel to our own. The book has a wonderful balance of drama, adventure, humor and steamy romance. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy.

The book was good it took me awhile to read but full of action and adventure. I had to keep putting it down for other things but very good. It was about a girl who comes from our world who is suddenly sent to another world where everything is different and she must never speak of this world and must speak and act as if she was always a part of the new world she is now in. And she is now a princess.

I can enjoy erotica from time to time, I can enjoy a good fantasy / Romance, this one neither entertained not titillated me. It droned on and had clumsy efforts at the erotic. Moving this author to my personal do not download list. Received for free and deleted immediately after reading. Not gross or excessively violent, just failed to work for me.

Mmm this book would have received 3.5 stars. It had a good story line to it but with, for me, tooo much romance in it for the heroine and tooo much sadomasochism for the baddies. I don’t think I will be picking up the next books in the saga. This is what comes from reading a sample of the book, usually the first couple of chapters, to make ones mind up whether to buy the book or not!

I'm so conflicted about this book. I kept waiting for it to get exciting or to build up to a climax, but nothing ever came. I want to like based on the story alone, but somehow this story and characters don't meld well together for me. I might read the 2nd book, just to see what changes.

The Stones of Kaldaar (Song Of The Swords Book One) by Tameri Etherton has now become one of my favorite fantasy series ever! I would rank this book 100 stars if I could I loved it!
Fantasy is my first love in books and this book should certainly be up there with the great books in this genre as it has everything a perfect book needs, fantasy, magic intrigue, twist and turns, deception, revenge love and villains that you love to hate.
The characters are so well written that even when you put the book down you can't! because if your like me you will spend your time wondering 'where they are going?' 'what the are doing?' and 'who is plotting against whom?' You pick up the book again the next thing you know it's 3 am and your going to need string coffee to get through the next day until you can pick the book up again.
The characters are lovable, relatable and show character development throughout the book as the story progresses. I love Taryn, she is a young strong girl who has a lot to deal with she has come to Aelinae, after the death of her grandfather, who sheltered her by not telling of the world that she was born into she now has to deal with a new family , a betrothed and a prophecy that she is told she will fulfill.
Marrisa and Zakiel are my favorite characters but then I'm always attracted to the bad guys they always intrigue me more. I can't wait to see what it's store for all your characters in the next installment of Song Of The Swords Series.
What amazes me about this book is the authors imagination and originality of the story. The story has a lot of depth to it and everything is explained well and is easy to visualize but the glossary of terms at the back is very helpful and in depth if you aren't used to fantasy novels as a lot can happen.
Tamari Etherton is an extremely talented author whose career I will watch closely and I am looking forward to reading all her books. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in the future that The Stones Of Kaldaar would be made into a movie or tv series. So go and start this book now, you won't be disappointed. I promise!

The plot centers on a girl taken from her home world and raised on another because prophecy said she may become the savior or destroyer of her world. The only thing she is taught by her guardian is one of the languages spoken there. She spends her life in a nomadic existence with no set home or friends. Her life is happy but totally dependent on her "grandfather" for love and companionship. One day the wait is over and they return home. There are those who fear what she may become , those who scheme to use her and those who defend her having watched her grow up by means of artifacts she is unaware of. If she survives she may heal the world.
This is a book in which all the main characters are seriously damaged people. Plenty of both mental and physical abuse, abandonment and rejection. Most fantasy works contain some so the hero must overcome them and become strong in power. Would not recommend this book for young teen readers - contains incest and violent sex throughout the book.
There was a lot of unrealistic clutter in the book - learning the languages and customs of too many kingdoms, standing on the back of a running horse when she just learned to ride - sorry if that sounds like nitpicking but these are things that break the story line and make you go "huh".
On the plus side, the writing was quite lyrical at times. The author has an excellent grasp of descriptive phrases, the editing was great - which is becoming rare - the storyline was interesting, the heroine had backbone and courage and the powers Tameri vested in her characters were imaginative.
spoiler alert - bugged me so that Rhône would fold time to fool a madam but not to save his own life in a fight!
So 3 stars because I believe the author has a story to tell. Hopefully more storyline " Why am I here?" and finding out what everyone is hiding from her.

This book started off and just took me for a ride. I really enjoyed this book. It read smoothly and I enjoyed the writing style.
The front cover made me think of She-ra the old cartoon of my youth. That is one of the reasons why I asked to read and review this book. I am so glad that I did.
I liked her characters and I really can’t wait to read book 2.

This book started off and just took me for a ride. I really enjoyed this book. It read smoothly and I enjoyed the writing style.
The front cover made me think of She-ra the old cartoon of my youth. That is one of the reasons why I asked to read and review this book. I am so glad that I did.
I liked her characters and I really can’t wait to read book 2.

It takes a lot to impress me in the fantasy realm. My gold star standard is Terry Goodkind and his Sword of Truth series. As this was a debut book from this author, I had no idea what to expect. Yes, the cover was beautiful. It reminded me of Shee-ra from the cartoons. But the pretty cover was just the beginning of a fantastic journey.
Imagine having been raised in a world by your grandfather to a life that was mostly solitary, though full of adventures. You think you know your place. Your passions. Until it's ripped away and you find out nothing is as it seems and your place isn't even close to your "true" home. In fact, it's not even in the same world!
Confused yet? Yeah. So was the heroine. Fortunately, she's plucky, a quick learner, and confident enough in herself to trust her instincts. As she discovers her birthright she meets family she's not sure she can trust, makes friends she's not sure have her best interests at heart, and a guy who she's definitely attracted to, but is unsure of him and his motives.
The only thing she can count on? Her heart. Her instincts. And her ever growing powers.
I loved this book so much that I recommended it to my husband, and now I'm waiting with bated breath for the next one to come out. If you like your books full of action, fantasy, and intrigue, this is definitely the one for you!

The Stones of Kaldaar is book one in Tameri Etherton’s Song of the Swords series. This fantasy transported me to another world and kept me turning the page until the end.
I didn’t know what to expect from The Stones of Kaldaar. It was big and heavy and it felt so good holding this beautiful book in my hands. Although, I did seem to forget how hard it is to hold one of these bad boys and eat at the same time! I appear to be spoiled by my kindle. However, not even that swayed me from toting this book everywhere I went in hopes that I could sneak a few more pages.
I was transported with Taryn to a new and completely unique world. Learning this world’s inner workings and creatures was fun filled and let my imagination roam. Taryn was a very good female lead and her well written tale is sure to entertain any fantasy lover!
Etherton created very vivid characters and introduces them flawlessly through this fairly complex story. I loved that this book broke some rules and created real feelings -both good and bad – for everyone we meet in the Aelinae.
I rate The Stones of Kaldaar 4 out of 5 Bullets!

I thoroughly enjoyed escaping with this book. It’s an excellent fantasy read. Tameri Etherton has masterfully crafted a mystical world along with rich, vibrant characters, all shackled to limits and flaws making them relatable. The author has a beautiful story style that draws the reader right in. I found this book rather impossible to put down and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. I hope there is more of Taryn and Rhoane.

Interesting Fantasy - Looking Forward to Reading Book Two
I had won the second book of the series in a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway, but I thought it would be important to read the first book before reading the second book. I had a hard time getting into the book, but then it started to suck me in about 25% of the way through. The further I read the more into it I was. Even though it is a fantasy, I really like how it coincides with a realistic Earth. After reading book 1 though, I am still not sure which characters are the good guys and which are the bad guys. I like how many of them seem to have both good traits and bad traits. I also like how the author keeps you wondering what is going to happen. I recommend this book if you like fantasy. I am looking forward to reading book two to find out more.

A friend of mine(thanks Carly!)shared this book on her timeline and since it's a freebie on Amazon, I decided to pick it up. And I am so glad my friend shared this book because other wise I probably would have never seen it. This is a great book full of amazing characters and a great plot that will keep readers wondering what is going on and what is going to happen next. The characters are so well written, you are bound to find a few that you absolutely can't stand and others you'll find yourself growing attached to. I look forward to checking out the next book in this series for sure!

I love this book!!
The Stones of Kaldar, just wow I never thought that Taryn's friend was going to be the person that the oddly weird Herbert would need!!! Boy was I beyond wrong she was the vessel, in the end I thought it was supposed to be Taryn and that until he and Celia had completed or tried to complete it that they wouldn't discover it!! Until boom everything fit together like a puzzle In and of itself everything clicked togethwr and saved Sabina.Awesome books by an awesome lady loved it !!!

I’m not normally a fan of fantasy fiction, but I have just become a fan of Tameri Etherton. The Stones of Kaldaar is a well-written fantastical journey into a strange new world that grabs the reader from the first page and keeps them intrigued until the end. While the book is a bit long (over 500 pages) it never lacks for excitement. If you’re looking for a new author to add to your favorite author list, I highly recommend this one. Can’t wait to read book two in the series.
