One grumpy city veterinarian. One hot single dad. And a winter cabin full of naughty decisions just waiting to happen, in this holiday novella by bestselling authors Kels & Denise Stone.
After walking in on her boyfriend mid-thrust with someone who wasn’t her, Joy Winters is labeled an emotionally unavailable workaholic. One too many wines later, she drunkenly books a last-minute getaway as far from New York City as her dignity will take her. The reindeer sanctuary on the property needs a veterinarian. Joy is desperate for a distraction.
Enter Jamie mustache-haver, reindeer wrangler, and Joy’s host in Cranberry Hollow, Maine. He’s just trying to keep the sanctuary running and his twins happy through another chaotic holiday season—not fall for the snappy city vet. But as Joy throws herself into helping his animals, Jamie starts to feel that warm feeling he hasn’t felt in his heart (or other places) for a very long time.
Kels & Denise are authors, best friends, and the definition of the found family trope. The pair bonded over their love for romance and turned all their late-night chats into writing together. Their enjoyment for storytelling morphed into writing impactful love stories.
I always struggle with how I feel about novellas because everything usually happens so quickly, and it makes it difficult to feel any real connection between the characters.
I did really like the fmc and I think the setting was so perfect for a holiday/winter read! I definitely would’ve rated this higher if it was a bit longer! I would’ve really loved if the relationship between the characters developed a little slower, instead of being so insta-lovey! The pacing felt a little off, but there obviously was only 192 pages so things did need to happen quicker!
Overall, I did enjoy it for the most part and it was cute! I also think the cover is so stunning!! If you are in the mood for a quick holiday romance, then definitely pick this one up!
9 years celibate hero😏😏😏😏 but at what cost❓a dead ex wife🧍🏼♀️ apparently his one and only as she was his first kiss🌝 10 years old twins acting like 5🙄 INSTA love/lust whatever🤦🏼♀️ absolutely hated every second of this
at least i got my pookie @yous to suffer together🤭 through health and sickness and annoying books🫶🏻
This fast-paced holiday romance was so sweet and charming! The small-town setting and festive moments were adorable and added the perfect touch of winter magic to the story. While the romance leaned a little insta-lovey, I didn’t mind it at all with all the steam, softness, and cozy vibes we got along the way. If you enjoy a light-hearted romance with reverse grumpy x sunshine energy, forced proximity, and a hot single dad with a porn stache, I highly recommend picking up this light-hearted, swoony read!
I’m a Christmas girlie to my core so this novella was everything to me. Kels and Denise Stone are a favorite of mine and A Cozy Holiday did not disappoint.
Joy is a grumpy, overachieving, workaholic who loves her career as a veterinarian. She also has forgotten how to relax, have fun, and just enjoy life. She ends up taking a month long job at a reindeer sanctuary.
Jamie is a single dad who lives in a cozy little town where he runs the sanctuary for reindeer. He needs the help of a vet which is where Joy comes in. Jamie also has a sexy mustache which I’ll never turn down.
The chemistry is definitely there as they take on the challenges of running the sanctuary together. While this is low stakes and a holiday novella, it was such a satisfying story. There are so many fun winter and Christmas themed aspects of the story. It manages to be funny, heartfelt, and cozy.
Thank you to Valentine PR and Kels and Denise for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.
this was so cute and cozy!!! definitely gives cute hallmark movie vibes with spice. i absolutely adore a grumpy x sunshine book set in a small town. the mmc is a girl dad and so good with them and joy fits into their life and receives the love she deserves. i’d definitely recommend this one for the upcoming season!

🦌🎄A Cozy Holiday is a sweet, cozy Christmas novella with a lovely small-town vibe, a charming reindeer sanctuary, and characters who are easy to love. The holiday spirit is strong, and the story feels warm, cute & comforting!!
The only reason it’s not a full 5 stars for me is the fast pace. The romance develops very quickly, and everything in the story moves fast, not just the love story. A little more time for things to unfold would have made it even better💕
Still, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the Christmas spirit. It’s cozy, adorable, & for sure one of my favourite reads of the year🌷
I loved "A Cozy Holiday" so, so much. What a wonderful holiday story! Kels and Denise Stone are fast becoming my favorites! The amount of character development and emotion they can convey *in a novella* should be studied! This book is an absolute delight. I loved the characters, Joy, the grumpy big city veterinarian who just caught her boyfriend cheating on her in a traumatizing but festive manner, and Jamie, a small-town, mustache-having single dad to twin daughters who owns a reindeer sanctuary. After answering an ad on Craigslist, Joy finds herself hired to work on Jamie's sanctuary in Cranberry Hollow, Maine, learning about more than reindeer birth along the way. Like all of Kels and Denise's books, this is full of incredible spice, terrific and dynamic banter between characters, iconic secondary characters, and fantastic character arcs. This is an instance where insta-love works so well because the characters have such splendid chemistry with one another! I actually loved watching Jamie and Joy fall for one another, probably because the authors take the necessary time to lay the foundation for a strong connection between the FMC and MMC. They feel like work partners, friends, and eventually, more, and readers are able to believe every second of their connection. Not only does Joy fall for him, but she falls for his girls, Kiki and Honey, as well. This is a funny, sweet, sexy, cute, entertaining, enjoyable novella that I will definitely read every holiday season! Please read this ASAP!
Thank you to Kels and Denise Stone, and Valentine PR for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
A Cozy Holiday was such a sweet, heartwarming short read exactly what I wanted in a festive romance. It has that perfect Hallmark-style setup: a city vet taking an unexpected break in a quirky small town and finding herself caught up in life at a reindeer sanctuary with a single dad to twins. The small-town charm was spot on, and the romance felt fun and swoony even with the quicker pace.
I really enjoyed the cozy holiday atmosphere, the humor and banter added a nice sparkle, and the spice gave it just the right kick without taking over the story. Jamie was such a burst of warmth, and watching the connection unfold was simply feel good in the best way.
Cute, festive, and fun I really loved this short read. Thanks to Valentine PR for the ARC.
It is almost Christmas again, which means it is time for cozy holiday feel-good books. ‘A Cozy Holiday’ is exactly that, a story filled with romance, sadness, joy and humor, all wrapped in a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.
Veterinarian Joy Winters lives for her work. It is all she does until she is forced to take a vacation. After a few drinks she impulsively applies for a temporary position at a reindeer sanctuary. To her surprise she gets the job and travels to Cranberry Hollow. That is where Jamie Wilder lives, a single father who takes care of rescued reindeer. Both of them try their hardest not to fall for each other.
The writing style of Kensi and Denise Stone is very pleasant. They avoid long sentences and use plenty of dialogue, which gives the story a nice rhythm. The reindeer sanctuary adds an original and refreshing touch, something different from the usual Christmas settings. The story blends humor, sadness, love and a hint of holiday magic. The humor is light and keeps the story from becoming too heavy, even when the characters face their emotional struggles.
Both main characters feel realistic. Joy is a strong and independent woman, and Jamie is a kind man who helps her open up. Their slowly blossoming romance is simply adorable. The story builds at a calm pace but remains engaging due to the balance between humor and heartfelt moments. The side characters are also well developed and add charm to the story. The setting is beautifully described. You can almost feel the cold, see the snowy landscape and smell the reindeer stable. Despite the Christmas backdrop, the story never becomes overly fairytale-like. The emotions stay grounded and believable.
A lovely recommendation for fans of cozy Christmas stories with genuine emotions, a touch of romance and an original setting.

Het is alweer bijna kerst. Tijd voor leuke kerst feelgoodboeken. ‘A Cozy Holiday’ is zo’n boek.
I discovered Kels and Denise Stone this year and now (including this novella) I’ve read four of their books. There’s just something so fun about their writing!
When Joy Winters walks in on her boyfriend cheating on her only to have him blame her for his philandering because she cares about her job as a veterinarian too much, she’s finally had enough. But, cheating aside, even her boss thinks she works too hard. With the clinic closed for remodeling, Joy had some forced time off - but now she needs a place to live and too much time on her hands (see: cheating boyfriend). Then she sees an ad for a vet needed on a reindeer sanctuary just until the new year - and it comes with lodging. So she packs up her anxiety-prone rabbit and heads to Maine. Which is where she meets intolerably handsome single dad Jamie. Since the death of his wife, he’s been singularly focused on his girls and the sanctuary. Then Joy arrives and hits him like a bolt of lightning. But she’s only there for a month. Can they cave to their attraction without catching feelings? Seriously, we know the answer, but the ride sure is a ton of fun.
Such a fun, short novella with a ton of heart and Kels and Denise’s distinctive self-deprecating humor. They have a fantastic way of writing strong messy women and masculine men who profoundly respect women and aren’t afraid of their emotions. Just a joy to read everything they write. It has everything you want in a holiday novella: electric connection, quick burn, great side characters, a quirky small town, and a charming HEA.
LIKES: First, I loved the smalltown Hallmark-y vibes! The whole story was paced well, had a lot of sweet moments that had me giggling and kicking my feet, and was overall and enjoyable read!
Jamie is peak green-flag MMC energy. Sweet, steady, respectful—and then out of nowhere he has a filthy mouth and subtle dom vibes?? Yes please! They had great chemistry in and out of the bedroom, for sure.
DISLIKES: The last couple chapters felt more rushed, and I didn't like how abruptly Joy left Jamie and his girls. While their HEA was super sweet, I feel like it was too easy and drama-free with how quickly he took her back. But it's a romcom novella, so I realize everything needed to be wrapped up cleanly :p

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE KELS AND DENISE STONE BOOK, ever, to date!!! 🛷🎄💜❄️
This was the cutest Christmas novella ever, I love absolutely everything about it. I loved that Joy was the grumpy, reserved one, and Jamie, god, I’m obsessed with that fictional man.
Jamie is Kels and Denise’s best MMC to date, argue with yourselves on that one.
Where do I even start with that man, he was simply the best, a girl dad to a set of adorable twins, loved helping everyone and was the steady assurance and calmness that Joy has never experienced before. Someone that wanted to do something for her, just because they wanted to. Stocked her fridge with vegetarian meals, and oat milk before she even had arrived in the small town of Cranberry Hollow, ugh, don’t even get me started on the filthy mouth he had, like I said, Jamie was just the best.
This literally had me grinning from ear to ear, every chapter and I was rooting for them, hoping Joy would work through her internal struggles and insecurities; and really see how much she deserves the once in a lifetime experience kind of love, and I’m so, so glad that Jamie was able to be that person for her.
To add, I normally love a dual pov story, this wasn’t, and was solely told from Joy’s perspective and I think that it was important and worked well because it was her journey, as much as it was Jamie’s, too, with him falling for someone after the death of his wife many years ago, this was about Joy and her perspective on love, and how it changed, when she met Jamie.
And the epilogue was the cutest thing ever, omg, Jamie a girl dad to four girls, a house full of women, haha, and I love it for him!!
Thank you, thank you to Kels and Denise Stone and Valentine PR as always for the review copy! 💖
City Girl / Country Boy Close Proximity Small Town Single Dad Grumpy/Sunshine
Unfortunately, I think this book just isn’t for me. I’m not saying it’s bad—it simply didn’t resonate with me. Everything felt a bit too fast-paced, and from the very beginning, I could tell I wasn’t going to enjoy it the way I’d hoped. I didn’t feel any real connection to the main characters, which made it hard for me to get immersed in the story.
i was pleasantly surprised with this novella it was so fun & the spice was everythingggg! absolutely loved all the characters, easily connected & loved this little small town.
my only complaint was that it could’ve been a full length book because these characters were so well written that i was so invested & sad everything was kinda insta & quick!
🦌 single dad 🦌 grumpy fmc x sunshine mmc 🦌 hallmark after dark 🦌 sled head 🦌 small town
3.75⭐️ Thank you to Valentine PR for the e-ARC! This was overall a really cute holiday story! The descriptions of the small town really made me feel like I was there, and this is one that will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. I think for a novella the timing and balance was pretty well done overall as well - with about 200 pages it was a great length but still about half the size of their usual books. There were a few aspects that I had issues with, but overall I’d recommend this for a cute and fun holiday read!
4.25⭐️ Thank you Kels and Denise Stone, and Valentine PR for the arc. This is such a quick and heartwarming read for the upcoming holiday season. I liked the premises: I love the single dad trope and when the fmc is the grumpy one since i relate most of the times, and I enjoyed this novella so much. I actually appreciated that it was only from Joy's pov, since the story focuses on her development, other than her finding love. Jamie was such a good dad and so so attentive and understandable with Joy. I wanted more scenes between Joy and the girls but their moments were so beautiful.
This was cute! The Holiday references (the movie) were a bit heavy handed, and I would have loved a bit more depth to the romance, but this is a novella, so there wasn't a ton of time for that. The heroine is an overworked vet whose office closes down for the month, so she takes a job at a reindeer sanctuary in the middle of nowhere and falls for the single dad running the farm. It was cute enough and nothing was really wrong with the story, I was just left wanting a bit more!
A Cozy Holiday is the literary equivalent of being smacked in the face with a peppermint-scented throw pillow—and honestly? I loved every second of it. This novella is tiny, adorable, and basically dares you not to fall in love with a small town full of chaos goblins and a reindeer wrangler who is one flannel shirt away from ruining your life in the best possible way.
This story leans fully into the beloved Hallmark-style setup: a workaholic city girl landing in a quirky small town and falling head-over-boots for the local sunshine-in-flannel reindeer handler. And honestly? It works. Even with the instalust and instalove (which is expected in a novella), the romance feels fun, fast, and satisfyingly swoony.
The winter and Christmas vibes are off the charts. From the adorable set of twin girls to the reindeer pack—each hilariously named after Studio Ghibli characters—to the goofy, tight-knit townsfolk, the setting is as cozy as it gets. The humor and banter make the story sparkle, and the spice? Filthy. Filthy. Like “I need to go sit in a snowbank to cool off” filthy.
Jamie was exactly the burst of warmth Joy needed, and watching their sparks fly was pure joy. Grumpy men are great, but a goofy, flannel-wrapped golden retriever man in a cowboy hat, and a mustache? Inject it directly into my holiday season.
Overall, this novella is cozy, charming, and just ridiculous enough to make you grin. It’s a quick little holiday escape with heart, humor, and a dash of chaos—exactly what a festive read should be.
Thank you Valentine PR for my copy1 All thoughts are my own.
Tis the season for holiday novellas! Some of my favorite reading during this time of year. I haven’t read from this author deo before so I’m glad I could start with a novella to see if their writing fit my taste. Overall, I think yes! It’s definitely spicy but the emotional connection between the characters mean it's great pay off.

What I Liked:
The Writing—Fun, readable, fast paced, entertaining!
The Premise—The Holiday is one of my favorite movies and I loved this take on Cameron Diaz’s storyline in New England instead.
What Didn’t Work:
The Ending was Rushed—I know its a novella, but I didn’t feel like I fully understood Joy’s choice toward the end and felt like it wasn’t properly expressed.
Character Authenticity: 4/5 Spice Rating: 4/5 Overall Rating: 4/5
Content Warnings:
Loss of a spouse, animal birth, infidelity, pregnancy
Dr. Joy Winters is a veterinarian, workaholic, and has just caught her boyfriend cheating on her in the grossest way possible. Her boss and best friend encourages her to take a sabbatical, which results in Joy responding to a Craiglist ad from a reindeer farm seeking a vet for a month. Joy’s doesn’t typically practice on large animals but why the hell not? So this city gal moves to a small, rural town for a month and finds the most unexpected things: a big and big-hearted man named Jamie, loving care of a large herd of reindeer, his sweet twin daughters, and a town fun of antics and warmth. Joy and Jamie’s attraction to each other is instant despite it taking her a beat to adapt to rural life. What ensues is beautiful, healthy adult communication, smoking hot bedroom (and barn and sled) encounters, and a ticking clock because she’s only there for one month.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.75 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This might be the perfect holiday novella.
Two adults who communicate honestly and healthily? Sign me up. Animal care as a core priority of the book? Say less. A sweet man who takes loving care of a brilliant boss bitch? Let’s fucking go.
This book is sweet and spicy and goes down smooth. These two are so fucking swoony, the town is so adorable, and his competence and care of his family and his reindeer are a dream.
The only thing absolutely gross about this was the way her ex cheats on her in chapter one, which conjured the mental image of Billy Bob Thornton in Bad Santa. Barf. But ya know, Joy finds her joy in a capital-M Man. Jamie is a real one.
🫡 Tropes deployed: small town, single dad, time-bound relationship, caregiver, boss bitch FMC, animals!!!
This story was so much fun and spicy. I loved it so much.
When Joy's boss forced her to take time off during the holidays, she never imagined finding love in a small town. She arrives in Cranberry Hollow to take care of the reindeer sanctuary. She never expected that the owner would be a handsome single dad of three. Every passing day spent with him, she falls in love with Jamie and this cute little town. She can actually see her future there, but the problem is, she is afraid. To me, she just needed a little push from the right man. A man who is completely mesmerized by her and wants her to stay.
Even though the novella was short, I loved every single passionate scene with Jamie and Joy. There was so much steam and spice between them. I loved all the kinky and smutty moments and I wanted more. I wished that the novella was longer, because I needed more time with these two.
Overall, I loved reading "A Cozy Holiday."
