Taming His Vampire Mate

THIERRY

Everyone knows tampering with fate is foolish. I’m doing it anyway. If I can stop even one person from becoming a monster, it’s worth the risk. Restoring a vampire’s lost humanity is simple. Theoretically. And now it’s time to put it to the test. Starting with myself.

Step one: Trick the universe into coughing up a fated mate on command.
Step two: Kick him to the curb faster than he can blink. Falling in love is not part of the plan.

But when my destiny turns out to be Jeremy, the maddening werewolf alpha with a dark past and a glare that could peel paint, I’m seriously rethinking my life choices. And somehow he thinks I’m the villain here.

Which is rich, considering he’s exactly like my maker, the sadistic monster who ruined my life eight centuries ago. I want nothing to do with him. Ever.

JEREMY

All I want is to be left alone. But my old pack is in terrible danger. They’re fractured, weak, and unprepared for what’s coming. It’s up to me to protect them and I need immediate backup. Which means asking for help from the vampire king.

Instead, I get saddled with Thierry. He’s as cold and cutting as he is gorgeous. Pack lore says all vampires are bloodthirsty predators. Which means I ought to be plotting ways to end him, not noticing the shape of his mouth, the strange electric blue of his eyes, or how perfectly his body fits against mine.

Losing one mate nearly destroyed me. I can’t survive losing another.

But even as an ancient and deadly threat from Thierry’s past stalks us from the shadows, it’s getting harder to remember why I should stay away.

Taming His Vampire Mate is a 100,000-word MM paranormal romance featuring an icy vampire who cares way more than he lets on and a wounded werewolf alpha trying to outrun his past. Expect enemies-to-lovers tension, hurt comfort, a real-world setting with fantasy elements, plenty of queer rep, wickedly slow-burn spice, a generous helping of snark, found family, cameos from past couples, and a guaranteed HEA.

Content warnings: As this is a gay romance, it contains explicit sexual scenes between two consenting adult men. Additional content warnings include grief, instances of on-page violence (never between partners), strong language, mild alcohol consumption, recovery from trauma, consensual blood-drinking, and mentions of past intimate partner violence, death, and the loss of a partner that happen off-page. All major characters in this series are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

I write MM paranormal romance and I’m the author of the Blood Bonded Mates series. All of my books end with an HEA and most of them also have a fair amount of hurt/comfort woven in, which is one of my favorite romance tropes (both to read and to write).

I've always been an avid reader, practically ever since I could first pick up a book. I've also been fascinated by paranormal themes for pretty much all my life. If a book had witches, vampires, ghosts, time travel, etc., I wanted to read it.

I developed my love for the romance genre in general and paranormal romance in particular when I started "borrowing" the books off my mom's shelf with supernatural elements in them. She was a voracious reader of romance, so naturally, they were all paranormal romances. I fell in love with them. And once I discovered MM paranormal romance, I felt both seen and included for the first time. I now read a wide range of genres, but paranormal romance has always had a special place in my heart. After all, who doesn't love spooky stuff & happy endings?

I’m owned by cats and I’m a proud dog dad to a border collie (pictured above) who is probably smarter than I am. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my partner of 13 years.

"𝙷𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚏𝚎𝚕𝚝 𝚜𝚘 𝚖𝚞𝚌𝚑 𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚗 𝚢𝚘𝚞'𝚍 𝚍𝚘 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚙?"

When Jay Castle first announced that Thierry's mate was going to be the alpha wolf Jeremy I will admit that I was very intrigued. I mean, so far all we know of Jeremy was that he tried to kidnap James and force him to become his mate. In the end he set him free because deep down, Jeremy knew what he was doing was crazy and wrong. He just couldn't see past his own pain and it made him go a little cray cray to put it mildly.

Thierry is cray cray on a normal day, but he has been one of my favorites in this series. He hides behind his wit and sarcasm, but I knew there was a heart hiding behind his facade. I think others are starting to realize it too, much to Thierry's dismay. I found it funny that he started off with a plan to figure out a way of finding fated mates, but never planned on actually mating with his own once they met. I'm pretty sure you can agree, those are some famous last words.

"𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚜𝚞𝚍𝚍𝚎𝚗𝚕𝚢 𝚊𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚠𝚎 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚎, 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚊 𝚋𝚒𝚐, 𝚏𝚕𝚞𝚏𝚏𝚢 𝚋𝚎𝚍 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚝𝚠𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚢 𝚏𝚎𝚎𝚝 𝚊𝚠𝚊𝚢. 𝚆𝚎 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚍𝚘 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐. 𝚆𝚎 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗 𝚖𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢 𝚋𝚊𝚍 𝚌𝚑𝚘𝚒𝚌𝚎𝚜, 𝚒𝚏 𝚠𝚎 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚜𝚘 𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚍."

A lot of the story was spent with Jeremy slowly coming to realize that Thierry wasn't at all who he thought he was. All his life he's been taught that vampires are the enemy. That they are cold and unfeeling. It broke his heart finding out his fated mate was someone he thought could never love him back. Thankfully fate worked her magic and Jeremy came to realize what a true gift of a mate Thierry was.

Sadly, we readers have been informed that the next book is going to be the last in this fun vampire series. Though I am looking forward to the final installment, I'm also excited for what worlds this author will give us next to fall in love with!

"Taming His Vampire Mate" is the fifth book in Jay Castle's Blood Bonded Mates series.

Hehehe, I kneeew Thierry would get the most complicated, most devoted of mates when it was finally his turn for a HEA.

The most complicated...holy shit. These two started off on the right foot..and then they realized who the other was; after that, there was a lot of taught hate and self-doubt, traumatic baggage to work through. It's hard when you're brain is arguing with your heart.

The most devoted...I'm not crying, you are. That was surprisingly all so soft and warm and comforting. It was new and shocking and scary and vulnerable. But it was happy.

Annnnd now there's 3+ new couples to discuss and a megalomaniac to take down.

Trigger Warnings: grief, instances of on-page violence (never between partners), recovery from trauma, mentions of past intimate partner violence, death, the loss of a partner (off-page), and more.

Review for (Blood Bonded Mates-5) Taming His Vampire Mate by Jay Castle

I am so excited that I have this book in e-book format. I love this series so much that when I saw this one was up for review, I ran and didn't walk to see if I could get it for review. The way Jay Castle writes this world and story kept me hanging on to my chair and bed when I read till it was so late to finish it lol. I have read books since I was a child. My Mom gave me the chance to fall in love with books, so that now I can't go a day without reading. I'm one of the lucky ones who have my days free since I can't work due to injuries. So with that, I'm able to read a LOT. You know, as series go on, they don't always hold up to previous ones, but let me tell you this one did and more. The story between Jeremy, the werewolf, and Thierry, the vampire, was so well-written. Both have been through so much. The building of their relationship was written so fantastically. As I was almost at the end, I was like, "No, I need more," lol. I am so invested in this author and series that I'm eager to see more from Jay Castle.

Taming the Vampire Mate is the fifth book in Jay Castle’s Blood Bonded Mates series. It can be read as a standalone, but is best enjoyed if readers have at least read the previous book, Hunting His Vampire Mate. This is an opposites-attract, paranormal romance within a larger save the world story arc. This book marks a huge departure from local issues that could be resolved in a single story to a larger and more complex amount of world building that does leave the issues surrounding Thierry’s maker, his brother, and the rest of the vamps in the area on high alert for attack. The slow burn romance felt pretty well paced, considering the prejudices and misplaced animosity Thierry and Jeremy hold at the beginning.

**All the feels** This was a great read. When I heard that Jeremy was gonna get his second chance, I knew I had to read his story. Him being matched up with Thierry was just the icing on the cake. Two complete opposites...the high banter and supreme snark from Thierry made this very entertaining. But most of all were both characters chemistry with one another and their extremely emotional connection....all the feels mannnnnnnnn...all the feels. I really enjoyed bittersweet romance of second chance on love and new beginnings. I highly recommend if you enjoyed the previous books...you wont be disappointed.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I mean this book exceeded my expectations.

At first I thought this was going to be mutual enemies to lovers but I was surprised to see that, although it started off like that, we got to see how uniquely and how quickly (not really quick btw) the MCs' dynamic changes from hate to tolerance to like then love.

I had fun. This is a nice long book that will leave you intrigued until the very end. I would say that prior reading is necessary for better understanding and enjoyment of this book and future ones.

Taming His Vampire Mate is the 5th book in the Blood Bonded Mates series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Thierry a vampire and Jeremy a werewolf alpha. All I can say is this series gets better with each new book. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. I loved these two so much. They have to work hard to figure their relationship out. I loved the plot, characters, and world building in this book. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

I was so excited to get back to Jeremy and see what Thierry can bring to the table!

Thierry is way more complicated than he projects, and has seen a lot in his 800 years of life. Jeremy subsequently has the patience of a saint and is definitely able to crack through Thierry’s cold exterior.

I can’t believe the next book is the end of the series!! Hopefully there’s a spinoff series in the works!

4.75 ⭐

Taming His Vampire Mate is the fifth book in Jay Castle’s Blood Bonded Mates series, and for me, this is the strongest book so far!

I was looking forward to getting to know Thierry better since we first met him in book 2. And yes, he’s still snarky and untrusting, but we also get to see how deeply vulnerable and bighearted he is. And we get to know why he’s the way he is. In contrast, Jeremy is a character I’ve wondered about since we first met him in book 1. He’s still struggling under the weight of pain and grief from losing his mate, but also his guilt and shame for his actions in book 1. I really wasn’t sure how the author would redeem him, but I should have trusted them. 😊
Thierry and Jeremy’s relationship is both complicated and complex, but is sooo well done moving from tension and misunderstanding to trust and love. Their emotional journey and the depth of it can’t leave you indifferent. I also think that the author did a fantastic job of exploring their grief and regrets…and also their growth. The emotional slow-burn of the romance gave them time to come to terms with everything, so I felt the development of their connection was genuine and real.

But no need to worry, the chemistry between Thierry and Jeremy is undeniable. Thierry’s sarcasm and quick wit are equally cutting and fun(ny), but it’s the vulnerability he tries to hide so hard that draws me to his character. I also loved Jeremy’s journey. From seeing vampires as cold monsters to really seeing Thierry and who he truly is…the transformation was beautiful to watch. Their journey also provides a lot of emotional depth that I was not expecting when venturing into this book. I loved how their interactions were equal parts banter, vulnerability, and really slow-building intimacy. It’s those layers that really pulled me into the book and made me love them so much.

The world-building is still impressive, and the author only builds on it naturally bringing back familiar faces from earlier books. It was interesting to see how events from earlier books were incorporated into this story without it being confusing or feeling forced. Also, while this story could be read as a standalone, my recommendation is to definitely read at least books 1 & 4. That way you get the context for some things and can more fully appreciate the story, in my opinion.

I think it’s safe to say this book definitely exceeded my expectations. It got its hooks in me from the beginning and didn’t let me come up for air until I finished reading it. It’s funny and emotional, it has action but also a lot of intimacy. For me, it definitely stands out in the series.
Now if only December could come as fast as tomorrow so we can get the last book in the series!

Independent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted my copy of this book.

THis is book 5 in the Blood Bonded Mates series, and I recommend you read at least book1, Snowed In With The Vampire Prince. You will get teh full force of what Jeremy tried to do to James in that book and it plays a part here. Thierry pops up in book 4.

Thierry thinks he can bring vampires back from the brink of losing their humanity and gets a witch to cast a spell. It works surprisingly well. Until Thierry discovers just WHO his mate is, and what he did to one of his closest friends. And then one of Thierry's worse nightmares returns and both Jeremy and Thierry decide that maybe they are better off together.

I said in my review for book 4 that I was looking forward to getting into Thierry's mind and he did not disappoint!

He doesn't trust anyone, except a select few (mostly previous couples from these books!) and never will, due to his history. So letting Jeremy in, especially when he discovers what happened between him and James (book 1) is painful and he makes sure Jeremy knows that.

It's not until Thierry tells Jeremy about his past and the danger that is currently pressing all around them that the reasons for his standoffishness is apparent.

Jeremy's pain is equally deep. He really does regret what he tried to to do james but he was suffering his own grief at the time.

I liked that James had forgiven him, but Pierce? Oh no, not him. That vampire will hold a grudge to Jeremy til the day he dies! I loved how Thierry stood up to the prince when he threatened Jeremy. Quite amusing, since Thierry was NOT going to keep the annoying wolf!

It's violent: someone is turning whole towns of people and letting them loose. It's steamy: Thierry and Jeremy have that immediate attraction, but it takes time for them to admit to there being feelings. Emotional, cos both of them are suffering internally.

All previous pairings play some part here and I loved that!

There are, for Thierry, some shocks. Some things that he thought were dead and buried, are not and they through Thierry for a loop. Not saying what, though! And one of those shcks is the subject of book 6, which will be the last book and I gotta wait until December!!

Write quicker, Mr Castle, write QUICKER! (I apologise if you use different pronouns, but you call yourelf a dog dad in your bio!)

5 dark and deadly and quite shocking stars!

Taming His Vampire Mate by Jay Castle in book 5 of the Blood Bonded Mates series.

« vampire x werewolf »
« enemies to lovers »
« fated mates»
« hurt x comfort »
« second chances »
« found family »

I have been so excited to read Thierry’s story and see that he is a total softy underneath his prickly exterior!

Jeremy and his pack were raised on the belief that vampires were cold and blood thirsty monsters. Thierry is horrified that his werewolf fated mate is the same wolf who tried to do James dirty in book 1 of the series. This creates some hard preconceived notions of each other.

When they are forced to work together and start to get to know each other a bit more. Jermey soon realizes that Thierry isn’t a cold, unfeeling monster that only cares about blood and sex like he believed all vampires were. Thierry cares deeply, more than most people and Jeremy sees Thierry for who he really is underneath the prickly mask he wears to try and protect himself from being hurt again.

Thierry believed Jeremy to be a savage predator who hurts people because he can and compares him to his monster of a maker. Thierry knows that Jeremy is not the man who would do something so awful like what he tried to do to James. He does not excuse his behavior but understands that he was so deep in his grief he was desperate to do anything to make the pain stop.

Both Jeremy and Thierry carry grief from their past. Their story is filled with so much vulnerability and emotion. I loved those moments, but I also loved the banter and of course Thierry’s sarcastic quips. These two seemed like they would never work or make sense, but they work so perfectly together.

I am so sad that there will be only one more book in this series. I am hoping there will be a spin-off because there are so many more stories I want to read like Quinn and Derek as well as Rico and Godric.

Straight off the bat I feel the need to say this author has massively grown on me. The first book/novella just didn’t work for me, it was too short and instalust, then the second book was miscommunication central which is my pet peeve. So I reluctant started to read book 3 as I liked the MCs who were side characters in book 2. I found book 3 & 4 to be so much better and the writing style/plotting massively improved. If you disliked book 1/2 I think you should go back and try to push through to get to book 3 onwards.

Can you read this as a standalone? No, it has references to key events in book 1 & 4, you’ll be rather lost. Also it’s really relevant to Jeremy’s backstory.

Now, given Jeremy’s actions from book 1 I really was unsure how the author was going to redeem him. However, it worked. I felt like I understood his emotions, thought process and reasoning. It was does well. Plus a sincere apology works wonders. Then Thierry, bless our snarky vampire with a heart of gold. Poor thing, his backstory is just full of pain.

The plot was really good and I super enjoyed reading the immediate and far reaching consequences of Thierry’s focus on the fated mate spell. It has clearly been set up for more spin offs but I’m fine with that, as I’ve got into the worldbuilding here and like our side characters.

If you want a load of sex then you’re not getting it. You get sex at perhaps 15% in, then mainly emotional development and connection which I hugely prefer anyway over unnecessary sex scenes. Then we get perhaps two or three sex scenes towards the later end of the book.

I won’t spoil a certain scene but there were a couple of chapters where I massively felt the heartbreak of Thierry. He deserves all the love moving forward after his fear of loosing everything, but given our ending I can see challenges ahead. The final book in the series is out Dec 25 and I’m excited!

Can’t love this book enough! Werewolves and vampire? Yes, please.

Once again I ARCed a book without knowing it was part of a series. All I saw was that it was about vampires, werewolves and witches and that was good enough for me 🤣

Jay Castle is a new to me author and trust me, I’m gonna be a fan for a long time if this is the type of books he’s gonna be writing. I love everything vampires.

Thierry couldn’t have been colder if he tried. Talk about keeping everyone at arm’s length so he wouldn’t get attached to anyone. He wanted to make believe he didn’t care about anything or anyone, but in reality he cared too much.

Jeremy was a broken man who had lost the person he loved most and that grief made him do things he deeply regretted. It’s that regret and shame that leads him to leave his pack.

Thierry and Jeremy were two men hurting and grieving. Both wanted to be left alone but the forces that be bring them together to fight the evil that’s threatening their people.

The animosity between them coupled with the fact that they’re mated, only complicates their relationship. Neither can stand each other due to misunderstandings and misconceptions.

Jeremy grew up believing all vampires were evil and Thierry believes Jeremy is a someone that doesn’t care who he hurts in order to get what he wants. Each believed the worst of the other.

Watching them wrestle with the need to hate each other but being pulled by their bond was so swoon worthy. Nothing makes me happier than to see the characters fight so hard not to fall for one another🤭

In the end, their love was everything I hoped for. The way they protected each other even when they “hated” one another was just chef’s kiss.

I’m so gonna start from the beginning of this series because I need to know about the other couples. I also can’t wait for the last book! So glad December is around the corner 😁

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was another good addition to the Blood Bonded Mates Series by Jay Castle. 800 year old vampire Thierry and his fated mate werewolf alpha Jeremy who was introduced during James & Pierce’s book, Snowed in with the Vampire Prince where he hurt James and was planning to force him to become his mate. It doesn’t excuse his behaviour but he was grieving his chosen mate, Ian who James reminded him of. Thierry has been an extremely interesting character throughout this amazing series, he comes across extremely grumpy but it’s a way to keep others at a distance. Only certain people can see that he actually cares so much, he just hides it behind his biting wit. All I can say is that Jeremy & Thierry’s happily ever after isn’t easy but totally worth the wait.

When they put their differences aside and work together they make an amazing team. I liked seeing them slowly drop their walls and let each other in. My heart broke hearing Thierry’s backstory and it’s completely understandable why he tries to keep others at a distance. I also really enjoyed getting to catch up with the characters from the previous books. Wow, what a way to end this book and I’m really looking forward to reading the final book in the series when it’s released but it’s also bittersweet. I’m hoping that it won’t be the last we’ve heard from this world since there were hints of possible other mate pairings but only time will tell. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to others.

******I received a complimentary copy of this book through GRR. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

Thierry is determined to defy fate itself by trying to restore a vampire’s lost humanity — starting with his own. His plan is simple: force the universe to reveal his fated mate, then reject the bond before love can ruin everything. But fate hands him Jeremy, a brooding werewolf alpha who reminds him far too much of the monster who made him centuries ago. Thierry wants nothing to do with him. Jeremy, meanwhile, is focused on saving his fractured former pack and wants no complications — especially not a sharp‑tongued vampire he’s been taught to fear. But the pull between them is undeniable, and resisting it becomes harder as danger from Thierry’s past closes in. Both men are haunted by old wounds, terrified of losing another mate, and desperate to protect the people they care about. Fate, however, seems determined to bind them together whether they’re ready or not.

I really enjoyed this paranormal romance crackles with an irresistible, magnetic pull between Thierry and Jeremy — two men who want nothing to do with fate, yet can’t escape the bond drawing them together. Their chemistry is sharp, reluctant, and utterly compelling, especially as both fight their own fears and the ghosts of past heartbreak. What elevates the story is the danger stalking them from every direction. Thierry’s ancient past refuses to stay buried, and Jeremy’s fractured pack faces threats they’re not prepared to handle. The tension between desire and survival keeps the stakes high, making every moment feel urgent. A gripping, emotionally charged tale where fate refuses to be denied and love becomes the one force strong enough to stand against the darkness closing in. This was an MM story with mature content.

And Thierry felt he didn't deserve love....

We all fell for Thierry in the previous books. He's such a marvellous character that everyone was waiting for him to find his HEA and it's finally here.
Thierry is magnificent in his velvet suits, with his haughty attitude, not suffering fools gladly. Never expecting to find love, let alone a fated mate, he's stuck with a wolf that sees the pain and sadness he hides behind that facade he presents to the world. And to make matters worse, his mate is not only a wolf but the very one who attacked James in Snowed In With The Vampire Prince.
Jeremy has lost himself and spends all his time as a wolf, trying to forget his great loss and the terrible thing he almost did to James. He never expected to have a second chance at love and happiness, and certainly not with the worst of the worst, a soulless vampire.
Their romance was a slow burn, with lots of avoidance at the beginning, of both feelings and each other, but the fated mate bond can no longer be resisted once they have to work together.
They were actually very sweet, even when they were sniping at each other. Jeremy really did fall first and I loved how he saw Thierry when nobody else ever had. Thierry found it harder because he believed himself unlovable, but Jeremy didn't stop reassuring him that he was a good man. Definitely hearts in their eyes eventually.
It was great to see other familiar faces again, with Poppy a particularly snarky highlight, likewise Danny.
I can't wait for the last book in the series, Awakening His Vampire Mate, now we know whose story it will be.

This is how you do second-chance romance—with claws, fangs, unresolved trauma, and a whole lot of emotional tension.

In Taming His Vampire Mate, Thierry, the sharp-tongued vampire king with a plan to trick fate itself, sets out to restore his lost humanity—and promptly wants nothing to do with his fated mate once the universe hands him one. Unfortunately for Thierry, that mate is none other than Jeremy, the brooding werewolf alpha still reeling from past grief and determined to keep his distance. What follows is a gloriously slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers journey filled with banter, snark, and moments that cut surprisingly deep.

I’ve been waiting to see Jeremy get another shot at love, and this story delivers beautifully. Pairing him with Thierry—cold, clever, and emotionally guarded—was inspired. They’re complete opposites on the surface, yet their emotional connection builds so naturally, with a steady ache of longing and vulnerability that really pulls you in.

Their chemistry is off the charts, but what stood out most was the feeling. The writing does a brilliant job of layering grief, hope, and the fear of starting over, all while keeping things entertaining with sharp humour and rich worldbuilding. There's action, danger, found family, and cameos from earlier books that longtime fans will love—but it also stands strong on its own if you're new to the series.

This is more than just a paranormal romance. It’s about healing, trust, and letting yourself be loved again. Highly recommended if you're a fan of hurt/comfort, fated mates with a twist, and characters who truly earn their happy ending.

The fifth installment in the Blood Bonded Mates series, titled 'Taming His Vampire Mate,' continues to impress with its rich storytelling and multifaceted characters. For those of us who have followed the saga, it’s a delight to see so many much-loved characters return, with a fresh focus on Thierry, an 800-year-old vampire. This intriguing character brings a unique blend of jaded sophistication and a snarky edge to the narrative, making him one of the standout figures of the series.

In this book, you get to witness the dynamic between Thierry and his new alpha werewolf mate, Jeremy. Thierry's indifferent attitude contrasts sharply with Jeremy's strength and determination, creating an entertaining tension throughout the storyline. Their interactions not only highlight the challenges of love between two very different species but also touch on deeper themes of trust and vulnerability, enhancing the overall complexity of the plot.

'Taming His Vampire Mate' skillfully incorporates a variety of supernatural beings, including witches, vampires, and werewolves, as well as intriguing new monsters that enrich the existing folklore of the Blood Bonded Mates universe. With its intricate storytelling and relatable characters, this book is a highlight in the series. I am left wanting more as I explore the cleverly crafted backstories, particularly the revelation of Thierry's past, which lends depth to his character. There’s no shortage of excitement and action, making it a must-read.

Taming His Vampire Mate - Jay Castle
5/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

This is the fifth installment of this series and I seriously was not expecting this book to be so good. I’ve only read book 4 before this and WILL be reading the other 3 but man, I loved the chemistry with Thierry and Jeremy. I was a goner from the moment they mated the first time.

I loved how Thierry wanted to find his mate to be found but wanted no parts of those feelings because he was just doing it to just help to what was going down. He got the help of Poppy, a very powerful witch, but things happen down the line due to the spell.

The way that Thierry and Jeremy come together - I was here for every forced proximity of these two. From the little touches to denying what was there and to finally giving in, I wanted every moment with these two. I really how close these two because the little scowl’s Thierry would give didn’t scare him every time and Jeremy would protect his mate from the ground he walked on.

And holy cow, the cliffhanger at the end - I haven’t even read the other books and now I need to before the last installment comes out because now Thierry’s brother is back. I can’t help but wonder who his fated mate will be. It would be interesting if it was a certain wolf.

But I loved this book from the emotions I felt to the action scenes and oh, the banter. I was here for every moment from the found family to the previous cameos and I was laughing to the sudden mate bonds happening. Loved every moment of this book.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Easy 5 star read
Firstly, let me say I got this book from gay romance reviews and this is me leaving my honest review.
Wow, what a brilliant read I’ve got to say I always wondered about Thierry and what he was really like and I can tell you right now I like him. We see what he’s really thinking feeling, especially when the Blood bond happens because then we can hear what Jeremy’s hearing and feeling. So Thierry asked the witches to make a spell to bring his faded mate because he believes that a broken vampire can be brought back to his normal behaviour if he has his fated mate by his side. The first four or five times the spell didn’t work, but this time it did but here’s where it differs because Thierry didn’t plan to stay with his faded mate. He just wanted to see if the spell would work to try it on a vampire that lost all humanity. And it didn’t help that when he did find his faded mate it was a werewolf shifter. In the shape of Jeremy. Jeremy, we’ve met before because he tried to turn James because he was suffering the loss of his mate and it was the only way he could see about being happy again, thankfully that all worked out, but these two are not happy with being each other’s faded mate. I absolutely adored the banter and the protectiveness that they both share but is only when they share their past that they can be themselves and take on what is coming.
Absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t put it down. I adore both of these men and the passion and the connection these to share is just off the chance honestly a fantastic read.

This is book 5 in the series and I believe it is better if you have read the other books in the series just so you understand more of what is going on. You won't regret reading the other books.

I am so happy that Thierry finally gets his story. It has been a long time coming. Thierry has one of the witches cast a spell for his fated mate as he wants to see if his plan can work. When the spell is cast, Thierry never expected it to work or worse that he finds his fated mate. Now Thierry can't get rid of him and can't stand who his mate is. When things start to go bad, he has no choice but to keep his mate with him and see if they can stop what is happening.

Jeremy just wants to be left alone and possibly have his life come to end after losing his mate. He hasn't overcome all the hurt from it. He has a lot of blame for how is mate died. One evening he finds himself chasing after a smell and he doesn't expect the feeling he has to see that he has another mate. When he finds out that his mate is a vampire, everything he thought he knew is so wrong and now must overcome and understand that everything he was told, is simply not true.

These two have a lot to overcome but also need to understand that together, it will work better for them. I love the build up and chemistry between the two. When you understand their story, you will agree that they both need their HEA.

I received an ARC through GRR and this is my honest review.

Just when I think I’ve read my favorite book in the Blood Bonded Mates series, another one comes out to take its place. I read this book in a day because I was captivated from the moment Thierry finds his fated mate.

Thierry is a prickly vampire. While he seems grumpy on the outside and most tend to give him some space, the few who really see him can see that he would do anything for those he cares about. Which is what leads him to let Poppy test her spell to help one find their fated mate on him.

Thierry seems to be somewhat shocked the spell works when he finds his fated mate. He is less excited to learn that his fated mate is Jeremy, a werewolf that we meet earlier in the series. The reasons have to do with actions Jeremy took when he was in a dark place emotionally that without the knowledge of Jeremy’s why, remind Thierry of someone from his past.

These two grate on each other’s nerves at first, but once Jeremy sees that what he has been taught about vampires may not be completely true, he starts to really see Thierry. The two go through many emotional ups and downs through the story, and riding each wave with them had my emotions in overdrive - so much so that I did tear up some.

I’m so glad that Thierry got a happy ending, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

The magical universe Jay Castle creates in the Blood Bonded Mates series continues to captivate and entertain with its intense action, complex characters, and clever storylines. If you’re new to the series, you could probably jump right in and enjoy this one, but I wouldn’t recommend it. There are several overarching storylines, and this book brings together pretty much all of the major players in the series thus far. It also tugs on some dormant threads, brilliantly bringing them to life and weaving them into the fabric of the story.

At the conclusion of the previous book, I felt it was pretty clear this would be Thierry’s story. With his role at the center of the fight to save vampires who’ve lost their humanity, it was the logical next step, and he steps into the spotlight spectacularly. He’s enigmatic and sardonic but also just a tad bit altruistic, although I don’t think he’d appreciate me saying that. Despite enjoying his role in previous books, I struggled a bit with him front and center, probably because of his sometimes contrary nature.

Jeremy as Thierry’s mate was a bit of a surprise, and I’m sure that was by design, because Jay Castle is nothing if not an expert in spinning those kinds of twists. I loved the continuation of his redemption arc, even if I wasn’t wholly enamored with all the parts of his journey.

A vampire and an alpha shifter as fated mates is every bit as interesting, challenging, and entertaining as it sounds, particularly when you throw in some magical mayhem and a murderous killing spree. This story takes some time to set the stage, but once it gets going, it’s nonstop right up until the end. It felt like one of many full circle moments for this series, with Thierry and Jeremy forging a nexus of paranormal worlds.

If you’re in the mood for an action-packed, heartfelt, fated mates romance, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

The fifth installment in the Blood Bonded Mates series, Taming His Vampire Mate, delivers another captivating chapter in this richly imagined supernatural world. For longtime fans, it’s a treat to see familiar faces return, while the spotlight shifts to Thierry—an 800-year-old vampire whose jaded charm and razor-sharp wit make him an instant standout. Thierry’s reluctant bond with alpha werewolf Jeremy sets the stage for a deliciously tense dynamic. Their opposites-attract chemistry crackles with every interaction, as Thierry’s aloof detachment clashes with Jeremy’s grounded strength. Beneath the banter and brooding, the story explores deeper themes of trust, vulnerability, and the messy beauty of love between two wildly different beings. The world-building continues to impress, with witches, vampires, werewolves, and new monsters adding fresh layers to the Blood Bonded Mates universe. Thierry’s backstory is a particular highlight—revealed with just enough mystery and emotional weight to keep you hooked. The action is fast-paced, the emotional beats hit hard, and the romance is as intense as ever. Taming His Vampire Mate is a must-read. It’s a thrilling, heartfelt ride that leaves you craving more—and with characters this compelling, you know the next book will be just as addictive.

I have enjoyed this series and was so pumped to read this book. Jeremy is my favorite kind of broken character. He isn't a bad person but he didn't make good choices, all because of a broken heart. In this book we follow him at the end of his self imposed exile where fate's hand was forced by Thierry a prickly vampire who wanted to save his people.

Now, like the best Wicked song says, No good deed goes unpunished. And Thierry's good deed may have the worst results. I thoroughly enjoyed Jeremy and Thierry's story and following them as they make discoveries. Watching them go from alone and miserable (even if one of them wont admit it) to becoming whole again was fantastic. I didn't want to stop reading just so I could finally see the path Jeremy was going to walk.

This book is much better if you have read the previous ones in the series. If you are starting here then it will feel like you are missing a bit of back story. It does end on a little cliff hanger but don't let that deter you because this story has an end and it sets up for the next one. I am so impatient to see what happens! If you love a good story line, vampire sass, an emotionally broken werewolf, and a slew of familiar faces to round out the story. Then this book is definitely for you. I highly recommend it.

I waited for this one for a long time, and it didn't disappoint.

Thierry is the vampire king's flashy, acerbic, and sarcastic second in command who we've met several times during the series. Due to events that took place in the book before this one, he thinks finding their fated mates can bring back vampires that have gone feral, and experiments with magic to find these fated mates on demand.

During one of those experiments, he manages to summon Jeremy - the werewolf alpha who nearly killed James in the first book. Thierry has a hard time forgiving Jeremy and understand what happened back then, but soon they have to work together when ghosts from Thierry's past turn out to be very much alive.

Which leads to one hell of a cliffhanger! Which is both annoying and very exiting. Thankfully, the last and final book in the series will be out in a few moths.

“What if there’s no one?” I asked. The words slipped out before I realized I was going to say them. I hated how small my voice sounded. The visions had left me feeling brittle. Could he hear that in my voice? Could he hear the centuries of loneliness?
“There is, Thierry,” he said after a moment, his tone gentle. “Don’t doubt it. Everyone has someone.”
I tried to believe he was right. Maybe someone was out there. Though whoever he was, he was likely better off not meeting me. And I was better off not knowing him.
Because when you let yourself love someone, you risk losing them. And no one knew that pain better than I did.'

I loved this book. I was excited to read a romance between a vampire and an alpha werewolf- I love that dynamic. This story was a fast-paced journey. A hurt/comfort, enemies-to-lovers romance between two men who claim to want nothing to do with it- or each other- due to misconceptions and beliefs. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Thierry and Jeremy and liked the dynamic between them. They may have pushed at each other, but you can feel the pain and loneliness they suppress in themselves at the core of them. I like the way their relationship developed. I also liked the supporting characters. The story had suspense, danger, and action and I was hooked. 5 stars

Taming his vampire mate is the fifth book of the Blood Bonded Mates series

And finally, the werewolves entered the universe, something I had been waiting for since the first book.

We've known Jeremy since the first book, yes, that werewolf who behaved badly towards James, something he is constantly reminded of in this book. And Thierry, a vampire of almost 800 years, a bit grumpy, who is looking to find his destined partner, but not to find love, but to help others.

Poppy, one of the most powerful witches, casts a spell so that Thierry can find his destined mate. Who turns out to be Jeremy. This spell has consequences throughout his lineage.

There is also a mystery. The entire population of a small town has disappeared, and Thierry and Jeremy are tasked with investigating, but despite being destined for each other, the relationship between the two does not seem to be working.

It leaves a loose end, which will be picked up in the next and final book in the series.

What I like most is how the lore evolves in this universe. Both because the lore of werewolves is introduced and because things happen.

+i want to thank the author for the arc. This is my voluntary and honest opinion+

The two of them wouldn't have been my ideal pairing, but the way the story unfolded, they are perfect for each other.

I have to say that Thierry's story really touched me. There are so many layers of trauma over his good heart that I can only marvel at how it's not in pieces, but still beats for those close to him. He has his own unique way of showing how he cares, and I absolutely love everything about it. Muffin, anyone?
Jeremy, on the other hand, is the one who needed a wake-up call. I understand his grief and how it brings him to his knees, but he's so close to the edge that it's selfish, and I'm not sure if he hasn't crossed it once or twice.
He needs someone like Thierry to open his eyes, and—oh boy—he does.
There were parts where I laughed heartily, then smiled again, but there were also parts where the tears flowed. My heart can't take everything without it becoming difficult.
This book is touching, makes you laugh, and fits perfectly into the universe. I'm really struggling to name a favorite book in the series, because I really liked Ethan's story, but what about James? Or Michael? No, I can't decide.
A definite recommendation to read, and I'm so hyped for the last volume in the series that I can't even put it into words.
