Really great for anyone just starting out in Rails. Talks about what Rails is and the advantages of Rails. Not a book of code. Just getting the reader familiar with preparing themselves for using Rails and the challenge of coding. Lots of helpful resources at the end.

Ruby on Rails x The Beginning

This book will not Rails code to build an app. What is does explain some concepts on how and what decisions were chosen for Rails. It indicated what other topics to associate with Rails such testing, Unix command, Ruby, and many others. I look forward to book 2 that actually contains the Rails project.

Book One is an excellent introduction to Rails and working with it in a solo development environment and a corporate one. Without touching any code, it prepares you for the Capstone tutorials in book 2 by talking about software development processes, environments, REST, MVC, and DRY concepts, and is a good primer for the second book. It's also free!
