It was a good program. There are a lot of analogies relating to the cobalt blue Porshe that didn't quite land well with me. Like adding an after-burner from a fighter jet. I appreciate the attempt at adding a graphic metaphor, but it just didn't land right with me.

All that aside, there were some very practical tips on personal development that I have actually started to use, and am seeing results. Definitely worth the time to listen to it.

Having read it quite a number of years ago, I remember liking it, yet I can't seem to remember too many specifics about it. Obviously it wasn't bad, otherwise I would have remembered that, but neither was it good enough to burn a vivid image into my mind, so three stars is probably the fairest rating I can give it.

I bought this book four years back on a whim; I did regret doing so after reading it. This book is a laughing stock. The principles explained are very childish and I don't recommend it unless the reader is below 12.

The book's strength lies in its sporadic practical tips on business and mindset. These are the rare gems in a sea of content that otherwise failed to resonate with me. These insights, few and far between, provide a glimpse into the potential value the book could have offered.

However, the book's merits are significantly overshadowed by its flaws. Scott's narrative style, which constantly oscillates between self-aggrandizement and religious preaching, was a major turnoff for me. The author frequently puffs up his achievements, emphasizing his sales prowess and the adversities he has overcome. While personal anecdotes can be powerful, in this case, they come across as boastful rather than inspiring.

Furthermore, the religious undertones were quite pronounced, with frequent references to Jesus and Solomon. While these might resonate with some readers, I found that they detracted from the book's business focus. The blend of religion and conservatism felt out of place in a book marketed as a guide to business success. This approach, in my view, undermines the author's credibility and might alienate readers who are looking for secular business advice.

Additionally, Scott's use of analogies and metaphors often misses the mark. As an avid baseball fan, I found his baseball metaphors, particularly the notion of 'swinging for the fences' at every at-bat, to be fundamentally flawed. Such advice contradicts the strategic nuances of baseball, a sport I deeply appreciate. Similarly, his continual references to luxury items like Porsches felt out of touch and failed to effectively convey his points. These analogies, rather than enlightening, often felt misplaced and unrelatable, perhaps more so because of my growing disenchantment with the book's overall tone.

In conclusion, while "Mentored by a Millionaire" does offer some business insights, its overall impact is marred by boastful storytelling, misplaced religious and political themes, and analogies that often fall flat. Readers in search of focused and relatable business wisdom might find this book lacking in the practical guidance it promises to deliver.

Thinking Big While Staying Grounded Today

Mentored by a Millionaire by Steven K. Scott is a motivating and principle-driven book about transforming your life through mentorship, clear vision, and strategic action. Scott shares his journey from repeated failure to financial success, emphasizing that extraordinary results don’t require genius—just the right system and mindset. Even though the book was written years ago, many of its core ideas still feel relevant, especially around personal responsibility and intentional growth.

What stood out most to me is the focus on thinking bigger than what feels realistic, while also breaking that vision down into concrete steps. The “vision mapping” process—turning dreams into goals, then into tasks with deadlines—connects really well with modern productivity thinking. I also appreciated the emphasis on leveraging strengths, building partnerships, and not letting lack of knowledge stop progress. At the same time, I noticed (and agree with my own notes) that some examples lean toward survivorship bias and can feel a bit too optimistic if taken as guarantees rather than inspiration.

This book reminded me to aim higher, but also to stay grounded in consistent systems and realistic expectations. I see the most value in combining Scott’s big-picture thinking with a more structured, habit-based approach like James Clear teaches. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a boost in ambition while still thinking critically about how success actually works in today’s world.

DNF- a friend's mom loaned it to me for the section on personality types. that part was fine. I am not trying to build a business or be a super achiever. tried to finish but just couldn't stay interested in something so unimportant to me.

This book was mentioned in Richest Man Who Ever Lived. I love how spiritual and practical it is with hands on application.

It literally includes mentoring sessions with Actions for Traction and Vision Mapping to your goals.

As someone who has avidly read and invested in events online and live, a book like this highly resonates with all the value Steven piles in.

I just finished section 1 & highly recommend you treat this just like as if you invested thousands and could lead to millions. I value any piece I read or listen to whether free or otherwise like This because it creates a whole different spirit of commitment, community and accountability.

Wrapped up Session 11 last week - this book does not disappoint - strategy & application all along the way! I've applied a ton already in my online summit, connecting with partners, and seeing major shifts & results already e.g. just connected with a partner with over a million followers on FB alone.

Honestly, this book is way better than the corny title. What you need to know about this guy is he made huge money (100s of millions) in direct response marketing and informercials after basically being a failure. This is they guy that brought us the "Total Gym" endorsed by Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley - classic! He lays out some very good information on getting ahead. I really enjoyed it, however, sadly I am not yet a multi millionaire. I found some of it so interesting, I actually tried to contact him to ask some questions, etc. - didn't hear back. What up with that?!

At first I thought this book was a total dog. But unlike most business books which get worse as they progress, this book got better. In the end, I really enjoyed the book and had a vision for where Scott wanted to take his reader. I would recommend it for people who have lost their passion in business. Very entertaining and insightful.

Very insightful and motivating. The ideas and concepts you can take away from this book are applicable to any career. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their career or life status. It appeals to those who are seeking wealth but I took a lot more away from it that just secrets of the very very wealthy.

Meh. I don't know if super achievers would read this book - it seemed superficial to me. The book could have tackled the same topics deeper, more meaningfully. To me the writing seemed trite. I didn't like the Porsche analogies either.

I remember nothing of this book except that it left me feeling like becoming a millionaire was impossible and that I really didn't want to be one anyway.
