"I thought you had something to show me," I playfully remind him, my eyes traveling to the bulge between his legs.
"As my lady commands."
I loved this little short story! Even though it was one that you had to 'choose' the storyline, I still enjoyed it. I stuck with Elizabeth and Edmund's story instead of the Elizabeth and Thomas drama. I wish Ms. Kluver would've just wrote it without the whole 'choose the storyline' thrown in. She is an excellent writer and I was interested in the characters as soon as I started reading. My only other complaint? It's TOO short! I wish the story had kept going. I was hooked! I can only hope the next book Ms. Kluver writes will be longer. :) Two big thumbs up!

My second book by this author and it also is a ‘branched fiction’ book – in that I have a few branches I can follow. A very limited amount of control, less than I’d have in a choose-your-own-adventure book, more than in a more traditional book.
If this book had been contemporary – set in the modern world, I’d have had no patience for it or for the main character. She’s too young, naïve, and lacking in control. But . . . for the ‘heroine’ of an historical fiction book, she might, just might, be closer to what a woman in her position might have been like. Most of the historical fictions I’ve read seem to have women with certain modern thoughts/sensibilities/etc. So it’s interesting to read one that might be closer to some of the women of the past. Though, her constant and seemingly easily aroused state is somewhat off-putting.
One thing I do know – I am not in a position to alter things into a manner and situation as I might have been able to arrange them if I had not entered when I entered. I mean, it’s like I’ve been placed in the body and mind of a woman of 19, since, you know, I have been – it’s too late to do the certain things a woman of the time could have done, to have laid the ground-work for to give them certain greater freedoms. Bah, all those bloody restraining garments. It’d kill me, they would. But I’m not in a position to ‘fix’ them coming into mild ‘control’ of a 19 year old. Especially since she’s like a skittish pony that I do not really have much control over. Even at 19 I might have been able to do something, but not with the very limited control I have. So I must make the best of things as I find them. Not get lost in wishes and alternate possibilities.
Well, there are several paths. Some I have no desire to follow. Well. None of the paths that lead towards the puppy love were ones I could get myself to try. Though I returned to the beginning and attempting a short distance down the Thomas path – I couldn’t continue far. It just felt . . . icky. Hehe.
I was all nice and obedient and stuff. I mean, I don’t know this ‘other’ the main character has this puppy love for so . ... The path I followed was well written but quite short. One of these days I must try something by this author which isn’t (1) short; and/or (2) a branched path work.
If you want a quick, fun read, try Wicked Wants by Cayla Kluver, an interactive book in the tradition of the 1980's Choose Your Own Adventure novels, but with a "naughty" twist (and definitely not for children).
Told in the first person, 19 year old Lady Elizabeth Deveraux has grown to love her childhood friend and neighbor, Thomas Macy. Unfortunately, her cold father is not respectful of her opinion and considers her a tool to be used for an advantageous marriage to help fund his declining estate. It is a springtime and her betrothed has arrived to meet his bride-to-be prior to the wedding ceremony which is to be held in a few days time. Wealthy, handsome Lord Edmund Prescott is a favorite in court and this marriage will provide him with the reputation and standing of The Devereaux family name. Elizabeth knows nothing about her intended, since her father has purposely neglected to share any details about the man she is to wed. She is surprised that Edmund appears kind and solicitous towards her and wonders if this arrangement might not be such a bad thing. Now the reader has some choices - Is it Thomas or Edmund? Is Elizabeth honest or deceptive? The result is the same as she ends up with one of the two men, with most paths leading to a rousing romp in bed. The setting appears to be in the Regency Period so the reader must take into account the morality of those times. A fast paced, amusing way to spend a lazy afternoon. Three stars.

I got the ARC „Wicked Wants“ by Cayla Kluver via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I think “Wicket Wants” was my 2nd or 3rd interactive book and I was so not thrilled about it. It took me about 20 minutes to read the story I wanted to read and that is not enough for me. I want an arch, a storyline with a plot. And in this one wasn’t even a real storyline. I was so disappointed. The storyline is rather easy. Elizabeth has to marry somebody her dad picked but is in love with the neighbor son. Her love writes her a message to meet her but she met her future husband before and is fascinated by him because he is that good looking. So she doesn’t go to the midnight meeting but meets him the next day and he abuses her. She tells Edward, her to-be-husband about this event and the guy is arrested. And Elizabeth is so very shallow. There are two scenes I remember – her being tight into her corset much too tightly and the description of her wedding gown. In my novels I read now that brides didn’t wear white for their wedding and suddenly there is a bride in white and gold? I don’t know …. I mean where is the thrill in this story? There is none. And I was so disappointed that I didn’t even try another arch. I picked the “chapters” in which her marriage to Edward seems to be preferred. A story that takes me 20 minutes to read isn’t worth the money in my opinion if I want to read a whole book. So no interactive storylines for me anymore. Rating: 2**
I received an ARC if this book from the publisher via NetGalley I exchange for an honest review.
Cayla Kluver’s WICKE WANTS is the story of Elizabeth. Her father has made an arranged match for her to Edmund a man she has never met. Elizabeth is in love with her neighbor who has been her friend since childhood. This is an interactive story, which I found out basically means that you get to guide the tale along different routes. As I discovered when you do this you get different traits from the characters within the story, something I very much enjoyed. I’ve gone through reading the story in several different ways already to see the different responses and outcomes of the story. I did enjoy the story, my only complaints are that it was too short and I have a bit of confusion about how the title of this book connects with the story. I wish in no matter which direction you chose to take the story we were able to get to know the characters better to be able to connect with them more. All in all I would love to read another story like this again from Cayla, like I said with just a bit more insight next time.
This book was fun and sexy! Elizabeth has to decide to marry the man she loves Thomas or the man her father picks for her Edmund. The reader gets to decide what Elizabeth is going to do and who she ends up with. I read all of the different options and found them to all to be fun and sexy. Good reading, makes me think of the choose your own ending books from the 80's or 90's, but this one is sexy!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley. This story involves Elizabeth who loves Thomas no matter that he is poor but her father wants her to marry Edmund. What does she do run away with Thomas or do as he father wishes. This book is a linear book so you get to choose the ending as there are many different ones. I found that I did get a bit confused and had to go back a couple of times. But overall did enjoy it.
The characters weren't fleshed out well. They felt a bit one dimensional to me. This caused my enjoyment of Wicked Wants to lessen. The branched fiction didn't fit well with this story; it would have been better if the reader wouldn't be able to choose. Picking the character's path wasn't very exciting, and didn't add to my enjoyment of the book.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in return for an honest review. My thanks for the opportunity.
WICKE WANTS is the story of Elizabeth whose father has arranged her marriage to Edmund a man she has never met, but Elizabeth is in love with the neighbor Thomas who has been a friend since childhood. Elizabeth has to decide to marry the man she loves, Thomas, or Edward, handsome man her father picks for her. This a short story filled with a lot of emotions and romance. I received an ARC copy from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I struggled to get through this book, unfortunately, for how short it was. The 'choose the plot' concept sounded interesting, but in the end just wasn't something I enjoyed. I did chose to read the book a few different ways, but couldn't really connect with the characters in any event.

Rich girl forced to marry; she pines for her lover. . . until she finds out the new guy’s a hunk. There’s very little sexuality here; far more story than anything else, and too many of the chapters went nowhere. It might have been just okay as a novel—or two—but under the erotica banner it failed to deliver.
This was an interesting concept. Wicked Wants by Cayla Kluver is an interactive ebook. You choose the direction you want the story to go in. Actually liked the story. Little confused by the interactive concept.
I don't say this often, but I was bored. I didn't like this one at all. The choose-your-own-romance was novel, but the sweetness in this story was a little too much. There seemed to be no push-back. I'd have loved a couple endings that didn't come out well, or a few hurdles.
I received this ebook from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I didn't like it. I believe this is the last "make your choice" novel that I'll read. Vote: 1 star
