At the mercy of uncontrollable visions, Echo Raintree seeks out the fearsome wizard Ryder Duncan for help and finds herself drawn into the center of a brewing battle – one where her past and Ryder’s dark secret threatens their future in this exciting paranormal romance.

Ryder finds himself compelled to help Echo despite the threat she poses to the town and their secrets and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the battle of wills between these two strong bewitching characters that grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning and doesn’t let go. The steady to fast paced plot keeps readers hovering in anticipation with suspense and romance as Echo and Ryder’s desires for each other complicates their lives and while the sex may be red hot their relationship is slow simmering due to past and present issues.

Unknown enemies have a diabolical plan to steal magic and it involves the town and threatens everything the peaceful town has tried to protect which add lots of suspense and excitement to the story and betrayals and desperate plans adds layers of depth and emotion to the story that spices things up even more. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life while the well orchestrated events ensure that the reader wants to know every last detail.

You don’t have to read the first three books in the series to enjoy this one but you would have a better understanding of the world and some events that lead up to where the Raintree Clan are in this story. I was completely caught up in Ryder and Echo’s romance from the very beginning and I can only hope that there are more Raintree stories to come…like maybe Cassidy’s story.

So pleasantly surprised to have discovered a final Raintree book! A very good continuation of the story with Echo. I'm so glad she got her own story! I loved the setting in Ireland. And it was a very interesting twist with Rye. The ending conflict was a little bit of a let down, but it seems the main conflict was with Echo and Rye anyway, so I still greatly enjoyed it. I honestly could barely put this book down. It has been a long time since I "just one more chapter"-ed my way to 2am.

Oh how I've missed this series. There were a few issues that I think had more to do with editing than writing (as this was an ARC) so I'll need to check the final print version before mentioning, but overall, highly enjoyable. I do think newcomers would fare well without having to read the previous installments, but I would still suggest reading it in order. A solid 4/5 with a full review to follow closer to publication.

This book was phenomenal. There was so much going on – meaningful growth of both main characters, a strong external storyline – I was absorbed from beginning to end. My favourite part was the setting and the magical world. That sounds like two things, but they really overlapped into one. The setting is a tiny village in Ireland and the magical world is [spoilers]. Definitely worth reading for people into paranormal romance and/or contemporary fantasy.

Awesome book & subject

I love the storyline of Howard's books. She draws me in and keeps me interested. I love that each book is different with different scenarios. I continue to get her books and thoroughly enjoy each one.

This book was a nice surprise for me, it was an engaging paranormal adventure and I enjoyed it very much. It was a bit slow in the middle and Echo was not the most inspiring heroine ever, but I really liked the hero and I was quite surprised in the end. Four stars.

I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I was first drawn to this novel because of the magic. You would think that novels like this in the world of paranormal/sci-fi romance would be easy to find. But in a genre overloaded with vamps and wolves, the premise behind this one stood out to me. I love the idea of two magical beings (over the age of seventeen) getting together to battle evil and, of course, falling for each other in the process, and after finishing this novel, I still love the idea, but I’m afraid this one didn’t quite “abracadabra” me as much as I’d hope. In all fairness, this is my first Raintree novel, and perhaps reading the others would have made a difference. Kudos to Jones, though, on her great job of catching up the reader. Considering this is number four in the series, I really wasn’t that out-of-the-loop.
One issue that drove me a crazy were inconsistencies in the story. For example, Ryder is from a small, covenlike village in Ireland. He’s important and powerful, and his family has resided there for generations. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows your business, but one of the “bad guys” (who is also residing in the village) makes the comment that, “Few here knew who he’d been, what he’d done, but she knew.” Huh? That didn’t make sense to me. One minute another bad guy is talking about doing away with his fellow henchmen then on the next page he’s praising them and talking about how they will rule together. At one point, Echo is furious with Ryder yet she turns around and gets more than friendly with him. About halfway through the novel, an incredibly powerful character is kidnapped, yet she can’t free herself from the danger of a single knife? Some things just felt a bit disjointed.
Another complaint was with the stilted dialogue. At times, it felt so wooden, almost archaic. Some conversations seemed so unrealistic, and I caught myself asking, “Would a twenty-something girl actually say that?”
However, all that said, it’s a fast read and something different. For those of you who are tired of the typical, this one is for you.

It has been seven years since the original Raintree series came out and I was so happy to see a new book in the series. I loved the original three and this one is a perfect addition.

Echo Raintree has horrible visions of disasters that are happening as she sees them so not only does she experience the pain she can't do anything about it. She leaves The Sanctuary and goes to Ireland to find Ryder Duncan in the village of Cloughban. Ryder is a wizard who might be able to help her. He is also a hunky Irishman with a Romany background who doesn't want to have anything to do with her.

This story is a great combination of romance, suspense, paranormal all blended together. The village has a funky air about it and seems hard to find. The people are are slightly magical and not very friendly. Ryder has some big secrets and one very big reason to not get involved with the Raintree family. Echo is in for the fight of her life in more ways than one and it takes more than she can do alone.
It was also nice to see some of the old characters make an appearance. I think i'm going to have to go back and revisit the first three books although it isn't necessary to have read them to enjoy this one.

A new entry in the Raintree series of paranormal romances. Echo Raintree is a prophet and empath who cannot control her powers. After her dream-visions invade her waking life as well, she quits her job as keeper of Raintree's Sanctuary and heads to Ireland in search of a teacher, rumored wizard Ryder Duncan. She finds him tending bar in a remote village. At first reluctant, he agrees to take her on as a student. But Cloughban is not an ordinary town, and its inhabitants are not ordinary people. And there is danger coming. Will Echo's love be strong enough to save Ryder from himself?

An appealing romance, peopled with realistic characters. A keeper.

I feel like I should have like this one better. I liked Echo, felt for her situation, loved the back drop of Ireland and even the village, loved Cassidy, wished there was more of her, but Ryder fell flat for me. I never really was convinced of the romance between Ryder and Echo. I did like how the two worked together and how Echo never gave up, even when Ryder lost himself within the power.

Fourth book in Raintree

This is the fourth book in the Raintree Series that I read several years ago, I went back and reread the first three books before starting this one. The whole series was good, written by different authors so the writing is a little different in each book. I would recommend this book.

Echo is seeking help controlling her visions. She heads to Ireland to get that help from Rye. This is the 4th in the Raintree series. I could follow this story but I think it would have been more helpful to have read the previous books. A wonderful combination of magic, good vs evil and love.

It was very nice book and a nice relationship build up that really good and I felt Echo and Rye work together some of the emotional bull at the end was unnessesary. But overall very pleased and really good for a Harlequin, very recommended.

It was okay. I don't know why but Echo kinda annoyed me in this book. And I did think that the conflict wasn't a really a conflict just people making the situation hard for themselves.

Gideon was funny though and was the highlight, for me, of this book. Also, Hope.

Maybe it's just been too long since I read the previous books (which I loved) but I just couldn't get into this book at all. After several attempts to soilder on, it ended up on my DNF pile - sorry.

DNF at page 110. Nothing against the book. I just think maybe supernatural romance isn't for me. I couldn't get into this or the dragon one I read earlier this year.

I gave this romance genre a go because I love Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series so much, and particularly the romantic chemistry between the characters. But maybe it's the supernaturals-in-a-human-world part of it that I find so compelling.
