Ever wonder how much your life would change if you won a million dollars? Well, that fantasy is about to become reality for one lucky winner of the new reality game show, The Haunting. Six people will enter the contest, but not everyone will win. In fact, there can only be one winner. A drug dealer, an exotic dancer, a drug addict, an entrepreneur, a district attorney, and a rich kid, are all desperate in some way. Whether they need the money, or are looking for something different and need a break from their boring everyday life. It may seem that these contestants have nothing in common, but that's not the case. They have one very important thing in common, their desperation to win the prize . But, winning the money is going to be anything but easy. Not only will they have to spend a full twenty-four hours together in a haunted mansion, but they will have to overcome their weaknesses and make alliances with their competitors just to survive. The many people who have visited Waverly Mansion have gone missing and never returned home to their loved ones. Are these contestants so desperate that they would risk their lives just to win money? A million dollars can mean the difference between life and death to some people, but there are many questions you need to ask yourself. Is the money worth the torment and anguish you will have to endure in order to win? What about your life? Is dying the price you are willing to pay in order to win that amount of money? Can these people survive long enough to claim their prize? Or will their desperation take hold of them and sabotage the other's chances at winning the game? Who deserves to win the money when no one is really the person they appear to be?
This was one of the few books that i read and didn't peak at the end! I just couldn't do it cause it would spoil my reading. What i enjoy most, was that this book contained both mystery and erotic romance. You know what this book do to you? It ties you to your reader and you can't possibly put her down until you're done! This is my first read from this author, but certainly not the last one! I'm just sorry that it was not longer but that' what we say about great books always, right? I won't retail you anything, you have a blurb and it's enough cause if i tell you even one detail i would spoil it. I just can say that the main focus is on Jace, a guy who is a drug dealer, working that job in order to pay bills for his mother treatments and Kelly , a girl who is an erotic dancer. One million dollars prize! You see the drill here? What would you be ready to do in order to win it? If you're looking for a romance, hot sex, mystery, sad parts of people's life's, good and bad decisions you're in for a treat! This book is must have! I hope you all enjoy as much as i did!
p.s. finally a different book! don't get me wrong, i love my bikers, billionaires etc, but sometimes i just need something else. With this book i got it and so will you!!
A rare romance that will keep you guessing until the end, and pull at your heart strings!
I am a member of Nicole Garcia’s street team, and that is because Nicole Garcia Rocks! All of her works have an underlying sweet romance to them. The Haunting was somewhat of a departure for her, in that, this book takes place on a reality show. All of the characters in the contest are flawed, and they are seeking the million dollar grand prize in order to make changes in their lives.
Kelly is a self sufficient exotic dancer. She took a job that she hates in order to try to make money to go to medical school. There is more to Kelly than the stripper job that she holds. She wants to help people, and not be a burden to anyone. A million dollars would mean that she would never have to go back to stripping, and could have a career that she is proud of.
Jace aka “The Flame” is known as a thug and a drug dealer. He has been faced with hard circumstances and has made tough decisions to care for the people he loves. The money would mean he could provide for his obligations without having to result to less than savory means.
Can two people fall in love when they are both trying to win a million dollars.
I loved that this book kept me guessing to the very end. There was a part in the story where I wanted to through my kindle, or to reach into the kindle and choke a character, don’t do it! Its definitely worth getting through to the end. I loved this book and I cannot wait to read the next book Nicole Garcia releases!

REVIEW
When luck is not on your side and you are out of money and ideas what do you do? Enter a game show for a chance at 1 million dollars. Well that’s what a few people did. Including Jace and Kelly. Kelly works as a stripper dancer and Jace works for a drug lord. Both are good people and want more out of life but finances prevent it.
When they are asked to stay in a haunted house for 24 hours they hop on that. They know each each some what but staying in a creepy house with murders happening can bring anyone together and that is what happens. Kelly and Jace hook up to pass the time but murders are happening.
When the next morning arrives and they are let out Kelly is taken to the ER and Jace has to stay and deal with questions as to what happened.
Can this couple stay together after just 24 hours of hell?
Well pickup your copy and find out.
This story was well written it did have a hiccup in the editing department but nothing that takes away from the story. The romance well it’s was I think the word I will use is Sweet.
Jace, works for a notorious drug kingpin not because he loves his job but out of necessity, he started at the bottom of the rung trying to make money after his father left his family. He moved up the rungs and is now an enforcer and collector, as well as a babysitter for him. His mother is dying of cancer and this line of work is the only one in which he can earn enough money for his mother's treatment.
Kelly works as an exotic dancer at a club on the wrong side of the tracks. She is trying to save money to pay for Med School.
A reality TV contest is looking for people to spend the night in a Haunted house, last one standing wins a million dollars tax free. How do you pass that up?
Jace and Kelly meet on the bus on the way to interview for the show. It's explosive from the start. It's a wonderful quick read. A bit of mystery, love, heat, and a surprise thrown in (didn't see it coming at all!). Nicole is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors when I want a well written love story with a few twists and turns.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this book. There are not many movies or stories where I haven't figured out who did it before I get to the end. Ms. Garcia has been added to the ranks of stumping me, which might not be a big deal to her but is an awesome accomplishment to me. This was a well written, engaging and interesting story line that kept you guessing at every turn. The premise of winning 1 million dollars to stay the night and day in a supposed haunted house is just to tempting not to take a chance. I don't know many people who would not jump at the chance and our characters were no exception. The wide variety of contestants is very unusual and the attitude of the producer towards them added a undercurrent that I just could not put my finger on. It was a fast read that kept you on the edge of your seat right up until the end. Oh I forgot, she also threw in a romance just to keep things interesting. This was an awesome read and I suggest you one click it right away, you won't be disappointing.
Six people from vastly different walks of life enter a game show and have to stay for 24 hours in a centuries old mansion called the Waverly Manor which is rumored to be haunted. There can be only one winner and said winner will receive one million tax free dollars. This was one heck of a story and completely blew me away. There was suspense, mystery and even a hot and sexy romance. It draws you in from the beginning to the end and what a shocking end, I couldn't stop reading until I finished!! Nicole, you outdid yourself with this one-you should be very proud and everyone is going to love this one!! BRAVO!!
Nicole has done it again she as write a other amazing short story that well have you guess the whole time. My favor character is so Kelly. She is so kind but well put you in your place if need be. as for Jace also know as The Flame he's your bad boy who no one can get close to. Until the day he comes face to face with the lovely Kelly. To know more this is so a must get book and just a amazing read.
I think this is my favorite Nicole Garcia book to date. While I wasn't thrilled about the initial vocation choices of Kelly and Jace (especially Jace's), I can respect they each had made what they thought was the best for each of them. I love the initial attraction between Jace and Kelly and Jace's need to protect and watch out for Kelly. But 24 hours in a haunted house? Not sure I would do that.
First, I received a copy in exchange for my honest review. Nice little action packed nugget. Don't want to give away too much here, but if you are looking for a quick entertaining read, pick this one up. Some naughty and not so nice stuff goes on in this dandy tale of love and mayhem.
We've all imagined how much easier our life would be if we won $1 Million. Tax free. For some, it's students loans or medical bills. For others, it's a way out of a bad situation, a chance to 'get clean', paying legal fees, or any number of other reasons winning that much cash could change our lives.
Six people are chosen to compete for the $1M. They have to spend 24 hours in the house, and there can only be one winner. If, after 24 hours, more than one contestant remains, they spend another 24 hours. No food, and water is turned off. All of the contestants feel their need is greatest, therefore they are going to do whatever it takes to win...and to hell with the others
The catch? Of course there is a catch! The house - mansion, really - is haunted. The house has an extremely dark history. Many people who have visited the house over the years have gone missing and were never seen again.
Two of the contestants, Jace (an enforcer for a drug king pin) and Kelly (an exotic dancer), actually meet on the way to the interview. The sparks that fly between them at that time are borderline hostile, yet somehow still arousing.
I liked Jace - he knows what he wants/needs, and for the most part stays true to his character.
Kelly, on the other hand, disappoints me. She is definitely the independant type - the the point where when she is actually in real trouble she still thinks she can handle it herself. Fortunately, Jace steps in and saves her. Not that she is grateful, of course.
The sex scene is, in my opinion, quite over the top. The author certainly doesn't pull punches and try to paint the scene with pretty words and sweet endearments. No. It's straight forward, crude, and more realistic than most I've read. This scene was also my biggest disappointment in the story.
Jace is a young man who works for a notorious drug Lord not by choice but out of necessity. His mother is dying of cancer and this line of work is the only one in which he can earn enough money for his mother's treatment. Kelly works as an exotic dancer at a club in the rough section of the town. She too works in a job she doesn't enjoy for extra money. In her case it is for medical school.
They both decide to enter a reality TV contest in which the contestants have to spend a night in a haunted house. That is the premise for this short fun read by Nicole Garcia. While the storyline is that of many other romance stories: bad boy with a heart of gold falling for a sweet but troubled girl; the setting and the events that lead up to the couple finally declaring their feelings are far from ordinary.
This story can be considered not only a romance, but also a murder mystery as three of the contestants are murdered as well as a paranormal story. Even a few twists in the contest and what the host of the show REALLY does will keep the reader turning the pages.
I really enjoyed this fast paced story that while predictable for the ultimate ending, the adventure on how the hero and heroine got there is a wonderful read. Four and a half stars, rounded up to five for Amazon and Goodreads.
I wish to thank Ms. Garcia for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the premise, but I just didn’t have any sympathy for the main characters being a foul-mouthed exotic dancer (who can tell I don’t like swearing in books?) and a goon who beat up people for a living (not even with the relative dying of cancer did he become any more sympathetic). That and questions kept popping to mind, like if the house was so dangerous, why didn’t any of the film crew get killed while they were setting up cameras in every room, and really didn’t care for the idea of them filming while their contestants died of starvation if the ghosts failed to go after them (in what reality would that make for engrossing TV viewing? It really makes me turn running from reality TV). And then we really didn’t get to know any of the other cast members, so us reading audience weren’t all that surprised when other players started dropping off like flies and certainly didn’t feel anything toward their passing, with the exception for having to backtrack to figure out who they were.
Still, I was intrigued enough to find out whether or not there were any actual ghosts or would one of the two main characters kill the other off even though they were paired up romantically.
I know the first thing your thinking is that the whole staying at a haunted house for a night to get a million dollars has been done. Right?....Well, your really in for a shock then, or I should say several shocks. First off, there can only be one winner! How can that happen you ask? This is a story has it all. Mystery, Murder, Intrigue & Erotic Romance! I was completely God-smacked by this one. I wasn't even thinking about that cool million as I got pulled into all that was going on. I actually started to wonder what was really going on here and why these 6 people?.......Well, I certainly didn't see it coming! Nicole really got me good with this one! I am not one to give spoilers but I will tell you to pay attention, close attention. You know what they say about hindsight! ...And here is a little extra tit bit for you, the Author of this amazing read wrote this story inside of two weeks! I recieved this book in exchange for my review, HA!really it reviewed itself.
"Good read!!" Would you consider the audio edition of The Haunting to be better than the print version?
I was given this book for an honest review. Nicole Garcia books brings life to her characters. I really haven't read many books like this one. So I don't have a book to compare it too. But I can say I do love this type of book and will be looking to read more like it. Kelly is a exotic dancer who enters a Reality TV contest with 5 other people with various backgrounds. They must stay 24 hrs. in a Haunted mansion and confront their fear. Who will last? Who will win the million dollars? What fears must they face? Is the Mansion really haunted I listens to this book in one setting. It had a fast pace to it and I found my self unable to stop listening until it was finished. This is a great story full of suspense and action. I would recommend this book to my friends.
What would you do for a million bucks? For the contestants of a new reality-based tv show the answer is spend the night in a haunted house...sounds easy right? That is until people start dropping dead and it quickly becomes obvious that in order to win you must first survive the night! The tension grows as romance blossoms between Jace - the bad boy with a heart of gold who wants to win so he can save his dying mother and Kelly - the exotic dancer with dreams of going to medical school. Can these two find a way to stay alive without losing their dreams? The bodies are piling up and it looks like it's the end until they discover the true secret the house is hiding... the question is will they survive to tell it?
This is my first Nicole Garcia book I've read, so I wasn't sure what to expect... But if the heading was any indication, I'd have to read this book during the day, I'm not into HORROR! Anyway I started this book & it was in the late evening (going against my horror only during the day code), & finished it an hour or 2 later. My goodness I was stuck inside that book wondering what the heck was happening. I couldn't stop reading even if I wanted too! It held me entranced from start to finish. The character descriptions were vivid, as well as the places they frequented... I felt connected to the people & places inside the book.
Thank you Nicole for a wickedly delicious read, full of twists, turns, deception, murder & some raunchiness.
"I won this book in audiobook format at a giveaway." When I saw the name of this book, I thought it would have been about a ghost story or something paranormal related boy was I wrong. This story was intriguing like supposed to be scary TV episode which the story is related to TV show. Six non regular people which includes drug dealer Jace and exotic dancer Kelly were put into a supposed haunted house for one where only one person will remain standing and be the winner of one million dollars. To know what happen inside the house while they were there you have to read this book. Surprise after surprise during the whole story but the ending was sort of expected but all in all this was a well written story and beautifully read in audiobook too.
WOW, Nicole did it again, what an amazing story. A contest to win a ton of money by staying in a haunted mansion that has scary stories associated it and you can't leave for 24 hours or more until there's only 1 person left in the house, would you do it? Six different people do and what happens next will blow your mind. This story has romance, sex, mystery of course, and scary moments - it's a haunted house of course there's scary. But what made the story was the OMG no she didn't write that moment but she did and well you have to read it yourself cause I'm not telling. Oh yea, read this in one sitting so make time to read it.

This book left me, just wow. I love hot books and this one is super hot. From the beginning to the end I have been glued to the chair reading it.
It's not just that it's hot, but also Nicole has a way with words and making you wish it was you in that story, or at least that you knew the couple.
Since the very first book I have read from Nicole I have been her fan. She writes amazing stories and this is so one of them. Don't have any doubts about this book, it will leave you in a state of pure bliss after reading it. I know it left me with a big smile on my face. Great job Nicole!
This is a great Halloween story, or for anytime you are in a spooky mood! You get your traditional plot....a bunch of people are thrown into a house together and have to survive. I won't lie, it will be eye rolling at first, nothing you haven't heard or expect. But then there is a twist. I actually went back a few pages to see if I had missed something because it's like WOW! That was NOT expected! If you get through the expected beginning I PROMISE the second half is well worth it!
I won't summarize this book as it has been done already in the other reviews, but it is a fun and exciting story. It is novella-length, perfect for an afternoon, a lunch hour, or a plane ride (as when I read it!). Ms. Garcia draws well-rounded characters and a plot that keeps you guessing...and reading. A twist at the end adds the perfect touch to this romantic suspense story. You won't be sorry you purchased it! Disclosure: I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book at its core, was about to people who had been dealt a terrible lot in life, and deserved a happy ending. One knew they deserved better, the other didn't. Ultimately they were able to show each other that there was something better out there. Also, there was a crazy murder house, and some unexpected twists and turns, but I just can't get over Jace... Definitely worth a read in my opinion!
The Haunting by Nicole Garcia was a good read. I think this book is her best so far. This story is a beautiful love story wrapped around a mystery with intrigue. My wife loved and I highly recommend it. A haunted house, a million dollars, a list of unsavory characters make the plot full of mystery and suspense.
I was gifted this book for an honest review. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the synopsis of it. It may not have been a long book but it was packed with power! I did not see the it coming on who the "villian" was! I was constantly on edge wondering where the story was going! It was fast paced and an easy read! Loved it! I want more! Will definitely read more of this author!
i so loved the haunting this was different and unique what are the series of circumstances that brings jace and kelly to the same game show and be also draw them together but what happens when jace turns on kelly can it be deadly for her and if not can she forgive him recommened to read to find out
