Twenty-seven-year-old children's doctor Tasha O'Hara is in between jobs when her brother Josh (who is a doctor) mentions he needs someone to look after a patient who is a friend (thirty-year-old hero Prince Alessandro Cavalieri). Alessandro has broken his foot and ribs and needs some around-the-clock care for awhile. Tasha had a crush on Alessandro ten years ago and he rejected her cruelly. Tasha accepts the job, deciding it would be fun to get even with Alessandro while nursing him back to health. When they meet up again the sparks fly!

I really enjoyed this book. Tasha was a good heroine. She was a terrific doctor with great instincts in dealing with patients. She was feisty and really stood up to Alessandro. Alessandro liked that she wasn't awed by the fact that he was a prince. I liked the part when Alessandro visited the sick children at the hospital. He was very sweet to them. There was also a secondary romance between Tasha's brother Josh and his girlfriend Megan. It filled up some of the book (from their own points-of-view too). I didn't care for Josh's character, I felt sorry for Megan, and I found their story sad and dreary. (Their unfinished romance continues in the next "St. Piran's" book in the series called "The Wedding".)

Tasha walked into the kitchen, knowing that every movement she made was being followed by those fierce black eyes. She remembered him telling her that his ancestors had been warriors, descendents [sic] of the Romans who had once colonised the Mediterranean island of San Savarre that was his home. It was all too easy to imagine Alessandro Cavalieri in warrior mode. 24%

Oh, please. *Carmen rolls her eyes*

So there's a whole Harlequin line that specializes in "foreign" "alphas" who are super-rich. It's called Harlequin Presents. Example titles might be The Greek Claims His Shock Heir or The Sicilian's Bought Cinderella or The Spaniard's Stolen Bride or The Italian's Christmas Housekeeper. Stop laughing. No, I'm not making this up.

This book isn't part of Harlequin Presents and it doesn't belong in that line. It's part of Harlequin's Medical Romance line which I usually avoid. Like lawyer romances, doctor romances veer off into long tangents about medicine and medical details which I find frankly uninteresting and unnecessary. I have no desire to binge-watch The Resident, either. But this Medical Romance is kind of like a mash-up. Sure, our heroine Tasha is a doctor and there's a lot of medical talk and medical jargon in here. But we also have our "foreign" Italian prince. Well, they don't say he's from Italy, they say he rules some made up island off the coast of Italy. And he's all 'dark and smoldering' and 'commanding and authoritative.'

Although, Medical Romance HAS been getting a bit strange lately. With titles like Heart Surgeon, Prince...Husband! and Island Doctor to Royal Bride?, I think it's going slightly off the deep end... But oh well.

ANYWAY. Where was I?

Oh, yeah. So. Tasha (Natasha) has just quit her job as a pediatrician because she is tired of red tape and bureaucracy. She still wants to practice, just somewhere that always puts the health of the patient above budget. When she tells this to her brother, he offers her a temporary job to tide her over: caring for a prince who was injured in a polo match.

The catch? Tasha and Alessandro have a past. She had such a crush on him as a teenager and this culminated in her begging him to take her virginity when she was 17. He turned her down. Well, "turned her down" is too nice of a way to say it. He humiliated her and was very hurtful.

This was the man who had destroyed her dreams. He could have treated her kindly and let her down gently, but instead he'd been brutal. Cruel.

She should thank him, Tasha thought numbly. He'd screwed up her confidence and her relationships with men, but he'd done wonders for her career.
12%

So. He's rich. Ick. A prince. Ick. An asshole. Double ick. Not really someone who I am eager to meet or read a romance about.

You'd think Tasha would want to stay as far away from this guy as possible. But no. She takes the job. "For revenge."

"What kind of revenge?" I can hear you wondering. Well. Wait until you get a load of this.

She makes him a cup of herbal tea.

WHAT??!?!!

Yeah, he wanted a glass of whisky and she brought him a cup of herbal tea. Isn't that devious?

Um... no?

And then... get this... get this... She cooks him spicy food.

She... cooks him spicy food?

Yeah. A spicy stir-fry. Isn't that EVIL?!?!?!?

Ummmmmmmmm....

She also has another great idea for revenge: strip naked in front of him!

o.O

Yeah, I know. It doesn't make any fucking sense.

So. He's fine with her. He's not an asshole now, only was an asshole in the past. She ends up getting with him. I really don't understand why.

The main complaint I have about this book is not the relatively bland 'love story' between Alessandro and Tasha, but the rampant, totally pervasive sexism that permeates every page.

Women cook. Men eat. Men can't cook. This veers into ridiculous territory. At one point Tasha is preparing food for the men, then 'remembers' she is cooking for men, so completely randomly fries up a stack of bacon. You know. Because MEN. You could get away with serving a bacon-less meal to women, but MEN?!?!?! Forget it.

Men love sports.

Women have conversations, but men are unable to hold conversations because only women can truly communicate.

"In the morning, I'm going to pick you up some extra tablets. I think it will help and so do the guys at the hospital. They should have thought of it, but sometimes it takes a woman to get these things right." 33%

I mean, I'm baffled. I'm honestly baffled. She's not the only female who works at the hospital. For one thing. For another thing, is she saying... male doctors don't know how to prescribe medicine correctly?!!?!?! Surely she can't be saying that?!?!?!!? I mean, what the fuck? Honestly, sometimes the random and completely unnecessary sexism in this book was so out of left field I was left scratching my head in confusion.

The hero, at one point, calls the heroine "a bright girl." "You're a bright girl!" She's a 28-year-old pediatrician. This just boggles my mind. What condescending patriarchal shit. Played as totally a normal and complimentary thing to say to a woman with a Ph.D. o.O

Horrible body-hate. Tasha thinks she has to 'lose a stone' to go to a wedding. She jokes about getting plastic surgery. The book tells us she is a thin, gorgeous woman. I'm depressed. There's a scene in a coffee shop where the heroine (of course) orders a skinny latte extra shot - which is fine, not my order, but fine - but she debates eating a croissant. Should she have these carbs? She suggests halving one with her friend. Her friend physically recoils with her hand 'shielding her flat tummy.' I'm paraphrasing, but really horrifying. Or perhaps depressing is a better way of describing it.

Slut-shaming. Book completely unironically blames the woman. Tasha views the women Alessandro has dated in the past with disdain. She automatically thinks they are stupid and weak, shallow and vain. Based on... nothing. He sleeps with all these women, but the WOMEN are the bad ones. Not him. When Tasha and her friend discuss a male who has gotten a female pregnant, they blame the female. "She probably wore lingerie! The poor, dumb brute. She's a slut. He had no chance." You know, it's not like he could consider NOT sticking his dick in her. Or at the very least putting on a condom first. No man can resist a woman wearing lingerie!!!! /s What a bunch of crap. >.< I want to point out, as an extra aside, that the woman being described as a "slut" here by the heroine is MARRIED to the man who got her pregnant. So yeah. Think about this. The horror just keeps on giving.

Alessandro and Tasha's brother basically get into a fight right in front of her about who owns her and who gets to decide who she has sex with. Does Josh get to tell Tasha she's not allowed to have sex with Alessandro? Does Alessandro have 'the right' to sleep with Josh's sister-property? I mean, they don't word it like that, but that's what it basically boils down to. Sickening.

This is what her brother says to her at 5% in the book:

"Tasha, I'm too tired to wade through hours of female waffle. Just tell me what you've done. Facts." 5%

ARGH! I mean, you could dnf right there and I wouldn't have blamed you.

The best thing I can say about the book is that the women don't passively lie down and take crap. There's some sexism they believe in - they seem to be fine with doing all the cooking and they seem to sincerely believe shit like "men can't converse" and "all men love sports" and "if a man and woman have sex, it's the woman's 'fault' and she is a 'slut,' while the man is a 'poor dumb brute' who is unable to refuse sex or resist it" but on other points they fight hard.

For instance, when Alessandro kisses her (suddenly) the first time, Tasha shuts that shit down.

When Josh and Alessandro start arguing over who has a right to control Tasha's body, she's like, "I'm standing right here! I'm an adult! I can make my own sexual decisions!" She tells her brother that she didn't interfere in his sex life when she caught him with a woman last week! She demands the same respect.

At the end when things are reaching the big 'fight, we can't be together' part, Tasha reads Alessandro the riot act.

I mean, sexism aside - and it was BAD - I really had to give Morgan props for making her female characters actually stand up. A lot of books that feature both sexism and 'commanding' males have women who are more browbeaten and who easily give in to things. I was glad that dynamic was not in here. Despite Morgan off-handedly talking about how 'regal and powerful' Alessandro was, she wasn't making him into an alpha asshole and she made Tasha into a character who stood up to him. This is probably why it wasn't a Harlequin Presents. LOL

HOW'S THE SEX, CARMEN?

Undescribed and useless. I couldn't tell you what these two were doing in bed. But they used condoms! That was good. Thankfully, Morgan didn't make Tasha a virgin, which was what I was really fearing.

TL;DR Baffling, pervasive sexism for NO REASON. And the sexism was often bizarre, too. Morgan took it way beyond locking in and enforcing typical gender roles. She had some pretty strange ideas IMO. It would make me laugh if I didn't take this stuff so seriously.

Despite this, I admired the women for standing up for themselves strongly at various points in the book.

Even though the hero could have easily been a domineering asshole, he really wasn't. The worst thing he did as an adult was randomly and suddenly kiss her sometimes. This could be jarring - both for her and the reader. But compared to his behavior 12 years ago, he was practically angelic. Morgan made the right choice on this one, IMO. It would have been so easy for her to easily write him into the asshole-hero category.

I can't say I ENJOYED the book - the sexism was egregious - but it wasn't unreadable garbage. I can't recommend it, although I'm sure there's an audience for this.

This is the third time I’ve read a Sarah Morgan book with Prince in its title and whilst she’s written so many books I’ve loved, there seems to be a pattern emerging in that her princes and I are not particularly compatible.

description …the word ‘prince’ made her think of fairy-tales.”

Having read over 40 of Sarah Morgan’s books, I do have certain expectations and this one just didn’t meet them from failing to bring a fairy-tale-feel through to a lack of quality in the writing—it may be several years old but I’ve read much older, much better and much less sexist. And as a result I haven’t a great deal positive to say thanks to a doctor who at the start was channelling some Nurse Ratched vibes, and a grumpy prince who didn’t really have much of a personality.

description I’ve grown out of the girl-meets-prince fantasy.”

It wasn’t a complete disaster and thanks to Tasha’s older brother Josh and his romantic-woes with fellow doc and true-love, Megan saving the day, and with a relationship I was 100% more invested in, Sarah has set some good foundations for Alison Roberts to run with in The Wedding.

1.5 - "Sometimes I overreact…" Star.

Not much positive to say about this one, it won’t be taking a spot in my Sarah Morgan ‘Hall of Fame’ list. With a dislikeable, immature heroine, and a bland unremarkable hero nothing really stood out, the secondary story with Josh & Megan was more interesting than theirs was.

And don’t let the cover fool you, the film that has been inspired by this book maybe Christmas themed, this book has no mention of the season in it.

This story was fantastic. Actually it was two stories in one. The main one is about Tasha the doctor who always stands by her principles even if it means losing her job, and Alessandro the prince who is caught between duty and desire.
Thd second couple in this story is Tasha's brother Josh and the love of his life ( but not his wife) Megan.
Josh and Meagan's story is St. Pitans: The wedding and is another 5 stars from me.
By the way, the tears flowed generously whilst reading this book!

I liked the story of Alessandro and Tasha.
As a teenager, Tasha had a crush on Alessandro but, in order to drive her away, he humiliated her in the cruelest way possible. 10 years later, Alessandro had an accident and is lying in hospital with a broken ankle and bruised ribs. In between jobs, Tasha agrees to take care of him so he can get out of hospital. Her motive is pure and simple revenge. But her plan backfires when she discovers that the chemistry between them is still scorching. Tasha is a great heroine, fiesty and gutsy. She is the only one to treat Alessandro like a man not like a prince.
I know that this book is part of a series but the story of Josh and Megan ( so heart wrenchingly sad ) is distracting from the main story. And the fact that it hasn't even finished - or maybe it has finished with no HEA, I don't know - is just plain frustrating.

I think Sarah Morgan is a good writer and this is a perfectly acceptable romance but it doesn’t make me excited or engage me as much as so many others have.

Tasha is supposed to be a mature doctor, who resigns from her job because she thinks her boss is insensitive as he won't prescribe an expensive drug.

Sorry, the way that young doctors have to deal with problems in the NHS is incredibly challenging and the idea that someone would be stupid and irresponsible enough to resign with no job to go to just beggars belief. To suggest that Natasha is "principled" implies that thousands of other doctors who battle their way through these problems somehow lack the principles she has! I know romance-land demands the suspension of disbelief on so many levels but this one just threw me from the outset.

Tasha just came across as a smug, arrogant and rather spoiled young lady not a mature professional woman.

Then she decides to get her own back on Alessandro by first making him want her and then by leaving him still wanting her? Feeds him herbal tea instead of whiskey, adds chilli to his stir fry and undresses to tantalise him? She sounds like a 16-year-old, not a 28-year-old mature woman!

It’s actually well written, but the plot and the character development is really poor. I also disliked the way the story of Josh and Megan intruded so much into the story. If this is intended to make me read ‘their’ book in the sequence, it failed. I really resent such cynical marketing.

I liked Alessandro and felt he deserved better. He was vastly underwritten but came across as a lovely guy who handled the situation badly 10 years earlier but for the right reasons.

It’s not a bad book but I was disappointed because I have read much better from this author. 2.5 stars from me.

The heroine Tasha is a rather outspoken paediatrician who, after a showdown with her boss, finds herself out of work. Her brother Josh offers her the chance to care for a friend of his while she is looking for another job. When Tasha finds out the patient is Prince Alessandro, the hero, she is reluctant but agrees. Tasha and Alessandro share a history; when he had visited her brother many years back Tasha had developed a huge crush on him, but he turned down her advances and she was left feeling humiliated. Tasha decides to use his injury to her advantage and make him squirm. Until they meet again and she realises that she is still very attracted to him. Alessandro is impatient and sick of his injury causing him to rest all the time, which has lead to him dwelling on the new pressures in his life as well as his many regrets. Having Tash care for him isn't helping either, as not only does he regret how much he hurt her in the past but also fiercely desires her. Meanwhile, two other characters, Josh and Megan, are trying to build a relationship with each other despite their shared past hurts.

I really loved Tasha and Alessandro's story, I actually couldn't put this book down. I was sceptical at first as I have never really enjoyed Medical's before, but this one really proved me wrong. I loved how Alessandro's character had a wonderful 'normal person' quality despite his status as a prince, it definitely makes him more believable. Tasha is a brilliant heroine; feisty, intelligent, independent and sensitive all at the same time. Sarah Morgan has a real talent when it comes to writing interesting and believable characters. The love-story is written beautifully, I couldn't help but smile about it.
The book is part of the 'St Piran's' mini-series, however the book does stand alone fine (I haven't read any of the others). But, there is a sub plot of Josh and Megan's story, which as I understand runs through all of the books in the series. This sub plot is absolutely heartbreaking, it is left unfinished though and I am so intrigued that I will be looking out for future books with their story.

St. Piran's: Prince on the Children's Ward is the eighth book in the St. Piran's Hospital series by Sarah Morgan.

I have read some pretty bad reviews about this book, and to be fair, the opinions of the reviewer in places I could see what they were talking about. BUT, that said, a book with a romance between a prince and a doctor is a fantasy and I didn't start reading it expecting full-on facts and seriousness. I think because of that I actually really enjoyed it. I didn't want perfection, I wanted a fun, sexy story and that's what I got.

In a nutshell, the doctor, Tasha, temporarily takes up a job as a private nurse to a prince, Allesandro, who has broken his ankle and a couple of ribs. She has a history with him, one where he broke her heart as a teenager. The clinching factor for taking the job she tells herself is to get revenge on him. The revenge isn't nasty, it's wickedly fun like not letting him have whisky, or putting too much chilli in his food. Light-hearted revenge that still made her feel good. I didn't want to see evil things. Of course, during the time of her nursing him, their attraction from the past rears up bigger and better than before. Can Tasha forgive him for what happened in the past, and can they have a future when she isn't of the same class as him?

I loved their story, it was lighthearted, it made me smile and despite the fact that it wasn't perfect in some reviewers eyes, I am quite happy with what they see as flaws. I don't know if I want to watch the film when it is on TV because I have a picture in my mind already about what the characters look like and I might be disappointed with what I see on TV. For now, I will say that I am more than happy with just having read the book and I am happy to recommend it.

I have read a fair few of Sarah Morgan's books, and most (especially her Christmas romances) I have thoroughly enjoyed them, but this was was a disappointment. It doesn't have the charming feel-good factor I usually associate with Morgan's books.

Firstly, it has that cheesy yet likeable TV movie feel to it, I wasn't expecting serious but I was expecting a little bit more genuine emotion than what it is, it lacks something which I can't seem to put my finger on, it's like when you follow a recipe and leave out one small insignificant element thinking it won't do any harm, only for that one tiny part to be crucial in the grand scheme of things.

Yet despite my reservations over it, I genuinely enjoyed this book, it's not perfect and nothing to take too seriously but it's a great afternoon read and there are aspects of it that I loved. I did like the characters, they were tender and sweet, not at all relatable but likable non-the-less and the more I read the more enjoyed their interactions and I liked where the romance was going. It's a little slow for my liking but it will appeal to those who enjoy a lighter, almost cheesy fairy tale type romance.

St Piran’s: Prince on the Children’s Ward is written by Sarah Morgan and published by M&B Medical. This book has been made into a Channel 5 Festive film, Christmas with the Prince - Becoming Royal.

Tasha O’Hara is a children’s doctor, who takes the job of private nurse to for Prince Alessandro Cavalieri who was injured during a polo match. Unfortunately for Tasha, Alessandro is the one person that she made a fool of Herself in front of, as a teenager, osing her heart and last shred of dignity! This is her way of getting revenge in a gentle way, forbidding alcohol, putting too much spice in his food, telling him when lights must go out etc. Can she forgive him for breaking her heart and can their love cross the chasm of nurse and prince so they can have their HEA.

A light hearted romance that is part of the St Piran’s series but can also be read as a stand alone novel. The revenge is humorous rather than spiteful in nature and this is an enjoyable read.

Tanya is a doctor and always thought of her patient's first, she is caring and when pushed against the wall she pushes back and that is how she came to resign. Josh her brother is also a doctor and when she tells him what she has done he offers her a job, the only problem is that it involves looking after Alessandro who was in an accident and he can't leave the hospital until he has someone to care for him. The last person Allessandro expected to walk in to his hospital room was Tasha as they had history and it ended badly. What will happen them when Tasha has to lock after him after all the bad feelings between them years ago. I really enjoyed reading this book as it was so good to read and so well written. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed.

I picked this book because Sarah Morgan has been a favourite author of mine for many years, but I still haven’t got to reading her early works, so this was the perfect opportunity.

I enjoyed this book, it was easy to read, and a fun romance. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that Megan and Josh’s story was left unresolved. I’m not a massive fan of royalty stories either, but the author did a good job. It passed a few hours very pleasantly.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is part of a great series and reading this will make you want to finish the series. This is the story of Tasha and Alessandro and is very well written. The best things is you don’t have to read the entire collection but you will certainly want to. There is an underlying story about another couple who have their own story. This story will keep you reading from start to finish.

I enjoyed this book. For a Harlequin romance it was surprisingly lean on the sex which I was grateful for. It allowed me to focus on the story. I had a difficult time separating the book from the Christmas movie but I did enjoy the story it just wasn’t one of my favorites.

I really liked this last installment of the St. pirans series. Tasha and Sandro go through so much and grow throughout the book. I did not really liked either of their motives at the beginning, but as the plot progressed I was brought around a we really see into their hearts and minds. The storyline with Josh and Megan had me to tears, but I was not surprised in where that went , based on the events of some of the other books in the series

I am a fan of Sarah Morgan and this book and really enjoyed the main story of Alessandro and Tasha. There is always humour and chemistry.

My only grumble is that I don't like it when M & B run another couples story through a series and don't finish it in that series (Megan & Josh). It was the same with the Penhally Bay series and again with this one. Really annoying.

At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about the main characters (or their story), but it ended up working for me. The issues in her brother's life were a little distracting to the main romance, but… now I want to read the brother's romance.
