My Special Friend

Rate this book
Thirty-four year old Kia is a single mother of two. After two years of celibacy and the gentle nudges from her best friend, Kia decides to venture out to meet men on a dating site. She never thought that she would meet and become interested in a white man, especially one as freaky as Todd. But Todd had an uncanny way of bringing laughter and fun to her life.Their friendship reveals much about herself and Kia is shocked to find that she might be more of a prude than she had ever imagined. She certainly had never done half the things that Todd describes doing to women. Maybe she should end her self-imposed celibacy and find someone who can satisfy her needs while she continues to search for ‘Mr. Right’. And maybe Todd could be the perfect Special Friend. This short story first appeared in a collection of short stories entitled Love Intertwined Vol 2. The story is intended for adult readers only and contains graphic language and sex.

Who is Pepper Pace?

Pepper Pace is the pen name used by the author. Born and raised in Cincinnati, she has always enjoyed creativity. At a very young age, Pepper had a gift for art and would spend most of her spare time drawing images that she later began adding stories behind. Soon writing became more important than the illustrations and though she still loved art, it took a back seat to her real love.

Pepper wrote her first novel when she was 12 years old and had written 2 more by the age of 18. Too shy to share her work with anyone, Pepper stock piled her many stories into notebooks until she came upon Literotica.com and was compelled to share her craft.

Pepper became instantly popular and won several awards each year in which she submitted a story to the site. After receiving popular feedback, she grew in confidence and created a popular blog entitled Writing Feedback where she encourages her readers to interact with her on topics concerning, music, writing, art and pop culture, and can be contacted at her blog:

Pepper lives in Cincinnati where many of her characters also reside.

A friendly lover

Can true love be disguised in the form of a special friend? Well for Kia and Todd their relationship started out no more than two voices on a party line. Each looking for something different in their lives. What they found was a special friendship and each other. This was a very well thought out short story. My girl Pepper Pace is on point as usual. I highly recommend this storystory.

This was a short read about finding love in the least expected place. Kara, a lonely divorcee and mother of two boys, was celibate for two years and entertaining the idea of getting back into the dating pool. Her friend convinced her to sign up for an online service to chat with men. Maybe she could find a nice guy to spend some time with.

After a couple of frogs, she meets Todd, a sexy fire fighter who happens to be white. I found ut off the her profile specifically said she was looking for an AA man, but Todd reached out anyway.

They immediately fell into a comfortable friendship. Neither had any expectations of taking things further. They finally meet face to de after six months of online chatting and daily phone calls.

Eventually they end up being "special friends" aka, friends with benefits. As usual when two people are being intimate and spending all of their spare time together, they start catching feelings. Well it was clear that Todd did anyway. I don't recall Kara ever expressing her feelings for him.

I will say there is nothing like a good man who defends you to your ex and loves your kids. It was evident that she cared for him, but I wish she would have told him like he did her.

There is a HEA and I hope for their sake it lasts. Listen to me, this is a book, not real people. Smh.

In love with my best friend

Todd and Kia meet on a singles site and hit it off....as friends. This book predates Tinder and swiping. The method of communication was telephone but for conversation. Todd has some hookups but allows Kia to listen in. Eventually, they decide to meet in person and they find that your friend can also be your love. The only draw back was that we ONLY get Kia’s point of view. Todd was funny....I needed to hear his voice.

A deliciously fantastic short story

The end was a bit rushed but overall I liked the "keeping it real" premise of dating. This couple became unlikely friends, then lovers, then family. It's a real fantasy where two people meet in a chat room and found instant friendship, talked about their love life and decided to come together to help each other out sexually. In the end they fell in love and decided to commit to each other.

A sweet story

Kia and Todd are such a sweet couple. Their friendship was slow to build, but was genuine and made the foundation for the love they never expected. Short, quick read and well worth the time.

Another Pepper Pace short story! Now although short, we really got a chance to see the relationship between Kia and Todd develop. They did the whole: Homie, Lover, Friend thing seamlessly! This story made you laugh and laugh some more!

The best thing was that Kia and Todd got to be themselves and build their relationship without any outside interference... that was refreshing to read a story about two people with the characters just being those two people!

Another good one by Pepper Pace.

I liked it

I love reading Pepper Pace novels. Every once in awhile I do a marathon of her books. Kia and Todd meet on a online dating site. They find themselves liking each other as friends only. I love their ending.

She has seriously done it again. lol!!!. This is an author, all readers of interracial books should look for. She is putting out a couple of quick reads that are that are well worth the price. None of her books disappoint.!!!!!

Too short of a story made it feel a bit rushed. But i was glad to be reunited with the couple from the previous book, My Throwaway Year.
