A free-spirited woman…
Eccentric interior designer Mirelle Brasseur is tired of relationships with handsome, charming, fickle men—in other words men just like the father who abandoned her. She’s fun and funky, but takes her career seriously. She’s not about to let a man derail her dreams or wound her heart again.

An ambitious man…
Award winning chef Bradan Hunt is handsome and charming, but he's always honest with women about his one date-one night rule. Between his best-selling cookbooks, his TV appearances, and his restaurant, he’s too busy for a relationship. He saw what a lack of ambition did to his parents. Bradan wants more. His newest restaurant is going to be the best, so he hires Mirelle to help him design it.

Turn up the heat…
Soon it isn’t just the food sizzling in the kitchen, in spite of Mirelle’s misgivings, as the attraction between the chef and the designer heats up. It will take more than one date-one night for them to overcome their pasts and find a way to cook up a sweet future together.

My Thoughts - Story
This was my first book of the new year and what a sweet surprise it was!  As you know, my taste in books fluctuates all over the place. You can find me reading a dark, horror mind fuck one day and the next one start a sweet romance. By being this diverse and open minded – it is times like this that I am happy to experience such a broad spectrum of genres.

This book brought me back down to a fantasy love story between two troubled souls.  Mirelle is so screwed up from the past with her father while Bradan has misplaced his priorities.  Both of their problems stem back from their childhood and their misguided emotions and beliefs.

It isn’t until they come together as a couple…Bradan can’t get Mirelle out of his mind and Mirelle tries so hard to continue to evade Bradan’s advances but nothing works out the way they want.

By opening themselves up to the other, they both start to heal from their past and realize that the present and future have so much available to them if they only just….LET GO.

Re-Cap
Bradan is a famous chef…Mirelle is an interior designer – Bradan is opening a new restaurant and wants Mirelle to design it. However, after meeting, Bradan wants so much more than just her touch of design.

Mirelle continues to pick guys who are players and end up cheating on her…she finally makes a pact not to date the good looking players anymore.  Well, Bradan matches this exactly and she tries her hardest to dodge his advances until he finally wears her down.

2.5 stars

I had a hard time deciding on how to rate this novel. In the end I thought 2.5 stars is how I feel. I liked half of it, and I didn't like the other half. What did I like? I actually liked the story and the H/h. They definitely had chemistry and the sexcapades are indeed hot. I also love reading the POVs of both protagonists. What I didn't like? I love reading erotic sexcapades (just not hardcore) and there was plenty here. It just felt like there were way too many sexcapades taking place. That and the never-ending moaning and whining of whether or not they should hook up, keep it strictly business, be friends with benefits, try dating, etc. etc. etc., all the while having sex even though they can't make up their minds on what direction to take the relationship. After a while it just became boring and mundane.

Authors most often than not create characters who are absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, and most often the hero a stud with six-pack abs, who screws women and tosses them away, who can get any woman he wants at any time. The heroine is so beautiful and doesn't even realize it she's so modest, has an amazing ass as well as boobs, and is terrific at whatever she does. Heaven forbid anyone have any flaws, and I don't mean their inability to commit to someone. I just feel that after a while it becomes not only blasé, but totally unrealistic. Is it just me? Opinion anyone?

Mirelle:

"She realized everyone who worked there was young and gorgeous."

"The hostess was stunning."

Not only were the H/h stunningly beautiful and amazing, so was everyone else in this novel. All young, gorgeous and sexy. Who wouldn't want to be sexy? I would. And that word "sexy?" Talk about a word that's littered throughout. Below is just a few examples.

"Those masses of gold waves gave her a sexy, just-out-of-bed-after-having-wild-animal-sex look."

"He owned sexy."

"She wore a blue and mauve flowered sundress with a full skirt, a tiny blue cardigan and a pair of strappy platform sandals. Sort of retro. But sexy."

"She shot him a look, a green-eyed, sexy look."

"He was cooking for her. Feeding her sexy bites of food."

"He whispered sexy words into her ear."

"He gave her a slow, sexy grin."

"Potatoes. Who knew they could be so sexy."

"Even the way he breathed was sexy."

"She’d always found left-handed guys super sexy."

"Those sexy bare feet."

"He focused on his agent. She was gorgeous. Smart, sexy and talented."

"She couldn’t stop her dreams that night, sexy-chef-feasting-on-her-body-dreams."

"Another sexy grin."

"He gave her a cheeky grin, getting a sexy smile in return."

"The corners of her mouth tilted upward into a sexy little smile."

"Her soft, sexy, pretty mouth."

"The short beard on his cheeks and jaw was darkly sexy and she remembered having that sexy stubble pressed up against her…"

"She let herself wallow in sexy memories."

"He made cooking sexy."

"The TV camera loved his sexy eyes and wicked smile, and even when it focused on his hands as he prepared the dish, that was sexy too."

Sorry for rambling. Once I started I couldn't stop my sexy typing. And these are just a few, but you get what I'm saying, right?

So yeah. That's my sexy review for you. I liked it, and I didn't like it. Like always, I'd love to get someone else's sexy take on this novel. Happy sexy readings.

Review

Maybe I had high expectations, but I couldn’t say that I enjoyed this book. It wasn’t a disappointment, but it also wasn’t a fantastic read. I think the best thing about the book was reading all about food, wine, beer, and chocolate. Reading about the hero spacing out as he though of food and different ways of cooking a rare ingredient was hot in a dorky kind of way.

There pretty much wasn’t anything else that was going on. The conflict wasn’t dramatic. It was just a matter of both the hero and the heroine being stupid cowards who needed to journey into themselves to get their priorities straight. Nothing spectacular. Nothing life-altering.

The heroine’s character was too vaguely described. She was supposed to be free spirited who has daddy issues, amazing at her job, loves to run with her bestfriend on weekends, volunteers at the animal shelter, and likes cooking but seldom does any at her house. And what was up with the father? The issue was resolved in an insignificant way, I feel like there never was going to be a change in her situation.

The hero was a typical playboy. Typical because I’ve met so many heroes like him. Unfortunately, nothing makes him stand out. All that one-night date rule was nowhere to be found because the only other woman who was mentioned more than once was also not a one-night stand. If you want a real badass player, check out Drew Evans, Emma Chase’s hero in her Tangled series. Now, he was a player.

This is my first book from this author, so I’m a bit disappointed that the first book I read from her was a bit of a let down. Hopefully, I still geto read other books from her in the future. As of now, I’m not crossing her off my list because who knows, the next book might just be my next favorite as well.

This is a cute romance. There were things I loved and things that bugged me.

Plot: Two career minded people are not looking for a relationship with each other but find themselves oddly attracted to each other. One doesn't want the other because of a preconceived misjudgment of the other. One doesn't want the attraction out of fear and wanting to achieve more in their career. These two are thrown together and can't fight the attraction. There are road bumps along the way but each does some soul searching and realizes what they really want and the ending turns out happy.

Characters: here is where I am bugged. There are 2 main characters Mirelle and Bradan. Bradan is a overall nice guy. Selfish in his focus but a nice guy. He fears failure and having someone be in his life that will not allow him to work on his success as a chef. In the beginning he feels his parents are beneath him and that they don't understand him this is the selfish part but at the end after self discovery and seeing what is really important in life this changes and he embraces family. So Bradan on the surface seems to be a player of woman but in reality he isn't. He is just a guy who is honest and focused on his career. There are some funny moments like with Poppy at the fundraiser but overall Bradan is nice and sweet.

Mirelle on the other hand although sweet bugged me. She judged people before knowing them and even after getting to know Bradan she put him in the category of all men she dated. So even as she saw he wasn't like that when something happened she referred back to that saying he was just like all the others. Not giving him a chance to say anything just placing him in that category. That bugged me. She was too haughty in her opinions and never cared to see the other side. Other than this she was the best fit for Bradan. Why? She understood career and focus. She was accommodating to that concept. She is overall nice and pleasant just had some issues to deal with when it came to men. She was jaded.

Overall: the story will grab you. The main characters are sweet and fun. They are also scared and confused. Which makes them wonderful to read about because we see flaws. We can relate to the characters. A story about finding out what is important and finding a balance in life. About love and support and friendship and family. A sweet fun romance to read where each character is scared and trying to find their way in life and love.

"Turn up the heat" Its funny because that is exactly what this book did. Pretty much all the characters have some sort of 'issue' they are dealing with. Mirelle's happens to be a daddy complex where she doesn't feel like she deserves a good man who treats her right because her dad walked out on her and didn't want her. Braden has commitment issues. The thought of having someone tell him to stop following his dreams scares the shit out of him so he has a rule: 'just one night nothing more'. But we all know how that nothing more can change when you meet the right person.

Mirelle is a interior designer and Braden a chef. When Braden decides to open a second restaurant he hires Mirelle's company. And our whirlwind begins. The attraction these two have for each other jumps off the pages. You can feel it almost as if it was you having those emotions, those cravings, that lust. Ah and yes believe me I wish it was me. As we travel with them as they try and feel their way around their emotions and find solid ground together we get to feel the heart ache, the desperation, and the guilty. Braden and Mirelle's story will have you turning page after page and not able to put it down. It will leave you BEGGING that these two find their way and open their eyes to what is in front of them. And hopefully have their own wacky happy ever after.

This is a sweet and sexy romance that I simply could not put down :) Bradan, an accomplished chef, hires Mirelle to design his new restaurant. But what he didn't expect is for her to be so beautiful. There is a chemistry that is very apparent from their first meeting. It is literally palpable throughout the book and don't even get me started on the love scenes...OH MY!

Mirelle feels she doesn't deserve a good man because her father left her. He has a new family now and she hasn't spoken to him in years. She feels like she is broken in some way and can only attract dead beat guys who treat her like dirt. Bradan also has some serious issues. He is terrified of commitment and plus he is way too busy to start a romance. He is driven and has his mind on one thing...being a success and staying a success.

Once the two of them meet...all bets are off ;) We see the happiness they both share and the struggles they go through. I really enjoyed getting to know both of these characters and found myself routing for them to make it. I was put through a myriad of emotions that kept me wanting more. Can the love they share help them to overcome all the obstacles they endure? Is it a HEA ending??

A story you are sure to enjoy and one you shouldn't miss. Jamieson is a talented writer who has a way of making you really feel what the character is feeling. There was never a dull moment throughout this book and that, to me, makes for a superb and interesting story!

This sexy contemporary romance is the story of Braden and Mirelle. When Braden finds out who designed his competition's latest restaurant, he can't resist seeing what she can do for him - both professionally and personally. But when things start to get too involved, will he let Mirelle in or keep commitment off the table?

I really enjoyed this romance. To be truthful, I have a thing for chef romances (or maybe it's just the chefs) - combine sultry food descriptions and wicked love scenes in one story and I'm all in. I really liked both characters in this story. Braden is the charming playboy, a bit egotistical (as one would expect of an award winning chef), but still with a nice guy vibe. Mirelle is friendly yet assertive, competent in her interior design skills, and while cautious about getting involved with a client, still is able to compartmentalize the job and the affair. Together they share some definite fireworks and I found the love scenes to be fun and steamy. Both of them have family issues to deal with, and a significant part of the plot is how these issues play a role in their character development. I found this to be an entertaining read from beginning to end. 4 stars!

Mirelle is an amazing young woman that is an aspiring interior designer, especially with restaurants. She is fiesty, independent, and yet she is trying to get over her pain caused by the men in her past, starting with her father. She has been unintentionally dating men that are just like her father, and when her best friend points it out, she is determined to find and date a strong, stable, man that wants a relationship and can stick around.

Bradan is an up and coming chef that owns his own restaurant, has cookbooks published, and is looking at expending and going further. He dreams of being successful and the best at what he does. Due to his job, he doesn't have time for a relationship, and in fact has a one date rule.

However when these two people meet, things don't go the way they planned and anticipated. There is major sparks between these two, and they are both fighting it. However, when they finally give in and try to give each other a chance, things don't always go the way they plan.

These two people must face their pasts and see what they can do to move on. Loved the story and these people. They are full of love, laughs, and yet seem like someone that you would really know. Grab this amazing read and fall in love with them.

Kelly is one of my very favorite authors, so I look forward to reading any of her books. I enjoyed this story, and really love stories filled with food love. I enjoyed Mirelle and her extreme love for animals. Braden sounded so sexy with that short beard and heart-stopping smile. What draws me into a Kelly Jamieson books is her wonderful way of describing, and always making you feel like you are literally a part of the story. There were a few scenes that were so moving and intense, and I love that. Her stories are always full of love, and so much steamy romance. You will enjoy this story, and walk away hungry.

LOVED IT!

Kelly has done it again, written an amazing book that I was unable to put down!

Bradan is a Chef and business owner who wants to expand. He hires Mirelle to be his Interior Designer as she worked on his competitors design. Both are drawn to each other and try to resist their attraction. But one they venture there its hot and steamy! Both are convinced that they don't have time for a relationship due to their pasts. Once these issues are worked out the book has a sweet and happy ending.

If you read any book this year...READ THIS ONE!

I liked this story. Was hoping to love, but never quite got there. Yes, it is funny and sexy. A romantic story with a wonderful HEA.

Unfortunately I never connected with Mireille. She seemed so off putting and distant. Loved Braden, love shocked the hell out of him and it was fun to watch him deal with the fall out.

Food was a interesting character in the story, nothing better than a passionate chef.

Braden was able to do some growing up and Mireille learned to trust and move past her own road blocks.

Nice read, lots of steam, characters good. 3 stars because not much happened. It didn't grip me in a way that I would have liked. Not a lot of action to keep me enthralled.
