Review I didn’t know what to expect going into this book but it wasn’t what I got out of it. Part way through I thought I had all the answers and this was going to be another one of “finding one true love” after being hurt.
Nope, I thought I had it right and I braced myself for being torn apart by grief and yes, there were times I felt like I was going to lose some salty tears. This book is more about the discovery of what may happen when a healthy relationship is suddenly hit with a roadblock full of miles apart and secrets held tight.
It was a journey of self-discovery for Emogen and how to deal with a broken heart while being apart from the only person who was always there for her. Emogen and Ryan must discover what the most important things in life are instead of the priorities they have already set in place.
This is a book full of ups and downs – happiness and tears – truths and lies – it is a journey through love, break up, new friends, new careers, heartbreak, questions, fights, and finally a future.
Re-Cap Ryan and Emogen are getting married in a year but there is a bit of a problem. In order for Ryan’s career to progress, he must move to another state for a year. Emogen is finally settled in Denver and her career is taking off.
They agree to give living thousands of miles apart a chance since their relationship and love is so strong. At first, Emogen is heartbroken but Ryan is dedicated to texting, calling and visiting whenever he gets a chance….but as time goes on this starts to disappear.
At the same time, Emogen is working her first event with a handsome client who is attracted to her.
What will happen when Ryan discovers this “client” is none other than a man who stood between him and Emogen when they were fighting? What will happen when Emogen discovers who Ryan’s work partner is….the one he’s been spending so much time with? Can their love survive a long distance relationship, even after being together for 3 years?
Wrap Up If you are looking for a “clean” story where discovering what love really is….then this is a read for you.
This story was an easy nice read. A story about love, hope, separation and finding love again. A real-life story.
Emogen meets Ryan in her university car park and leaves a note in his car. Their relationship develops from there.
Now, their relationship is on test. Ryan accepts a job away from Emogen and they are struggling with the distance. While juggling their distance and job, Emogen has a new client, enter hot Trey Miller and he is really caring.
Will her love for Rayn strong 'nuff? Or will Trey win her heart? Who would that be?
Omg! I didnt expect it to be this good because when i was about half way though it i kinda guessed it will be bad. That the heroine's gonna cheat or the other way around. But hallelujah! No one did! yey!

Emotes (Em) and Ryan met in college. 3 years later they are happily engaged living in Denver. One day Ryan says in order to move ranks in his job, he is taking a job in California for a year. It wasn't presented in question form. Em moved to Denver in the first place because of Ryan and his job. They've only been living there for 9 months and she has a job she really enjoys. They are at a standstill. Ryan is moving, he has to be seen as a team player in his firm. He wants her to go, but if not, he still is. She puts her foot down, she's not following him again. And it really was frustrating that he didn't consider her or ask her. Sometimes I felt she was being overly stubborn, but she had a point. They decide that Ryan will move, Em will stay and they will make it work for a year. They can make it right? At work Em is busy with her attractive client Trey who happens to be attracted to her and let's her know it. While Ryan works hard at his job alongside Alex. This was the hard part of the book. I hated the unraveling of the relationship. It was so hard to read. They were keeping things from each other under the preface that it was no big deal and no reason to get the other person alarmed. But the secrets and omissions were wrecking them. Then phone calls faded, visits cancelled. Until Em decides to surprise visit Ryan in Cali. Nope, no cliche there. No cheating scandal. But the visit does not go as she could've imagined. Ryan calls her out on Trey, she calls him out on a very female Alex and Ryan completely shocks me, er, I mean Em. He says they need time apart to think about this and getting married. He fucking broke my heart!! Weeks later Em is wreck but she keeps going. Trey let's his intentions be known. There's a couple of great girlfriends Cam and Joss. Em had a great sister Langley. But nothing could help her broken heart. I liked seeing Em feel more independent. But Em knows where her heart is, she just can't make him feel the same so she does the best she can to move on. Ryan, you so aggravated me. Couldn't you see how much SHE meant to you? I liked that Ryan wasn't a cliche male character. He was flawed, but sweet and loyal. There were a couple of things I didn't care for, spoilers of course, but overall a quick good read. I am happy to say that there is a HEA. This is a couple that got lost in the wrong priorities. A couple who stopped putting the relationship first. But also one that was always meant to last. The guy in the red jeep and the girl in the black car.
The book starts out with 4 stars but I feel like it lost some of the angst as the book went on and that is why I'm only giving it 3.5 stars.
I really loved Em and Ryan and I loved how Trey got tossed into the mix. It was the angst with Trey that really made me give it 4 stars. However the angst goes away pretty quickly in the book and that is when the story became another couple going through a really hard time. My heart really broke at some points, and I was in pain with Em and also with Ryan. The author did pull me in with her writing. The story developed well at the start and then I feel like it became rushed at around 75% of the book and details were left out to push the story along.
I really, really enjoyed this book! At 5% in I was already completely in love with Ryan and their relationship. And my heart ached terribly for them because I knew things were going to go bad. Ryan and Em met in college and connected instantly. The note on the car thing took a lot of guts and I loved that Em did that!
Get your man, girl!
Unfortunately they also met at a time when life for them was about to change. They were graduating from college and choosing careers. Ambitions were high for them both however their willingness to compromise was low. What they both could agree on was that they were completely in love with each other. This book was about the choices their ambitions lead them to and the consequences and most importantly, how sometimes love is enough to change everything.
Why not 5 stars?
My mind has been corrupted by smut and I have high expectations especially when the story involves a guy as hot as Ryan. I wanted their sex scenes to have a bit of detail. For this story not much was needed because the emotional connection between them was strong but just a little description instead of fade to black would have made my heart happy. But don't go by me, it's just my hang up. The story is still totally enjoyable just as it is. I just had no idea it would be like that.
Also, I did want to smack Em...a lot! She reminded me of Kiera from Thoughtless at times. Plus, the whole deal with what's his face annoyed me to the highest!
When I started this book, I was drawn in from the beginning and finished hours later :) That's how good it was!
Ryan(I love him) and Emogen (Em) have that love that all young couples have, but of course a new opportunity for Ryan threatens their relationship. I was rooting for them and I felt the emotions they were both having. Long distance relationships can either make or break the relationship. Add in his crazy work hours and barely having time to visit and her new client Trey, you start to see changes in the both of them. Don't get me wrong the love is there but is it strong enough to survive? (That's something you have to find out). One thing with Em is I wish she talked to Ryan more. There are some things that he needed to know and they way she handled it could have been better.
Her sister Lang, as well as her friends Joss and Cam were great in this story too. Em's mom finally got it together which I was happy for :)
You will love their story. One minute I am happy, next I am screaming at her and then I am back to happy again..talk about emotions all over the place but I loved every minute of it :)
and Trey? such a sweetheart :)
This is the first book I've read by this author and I know for a fact that I will be reading more from her! :)
It's about an engaged couple and it starts with a fight about Ryan deciding to work in another state without discussing it with Em. I completely understood her and I would have reacted the same way. Honesty is very important in a relationship and a big decision should de discussed together.
I don't believe in long distance relationships but I know lots of people who make it work. Throughout the story, they test their love and see how distance, work and temptations can affect them. They will find out if they still love each other or maybe what happened makes them realize it's over.
True love is never easy to find and we can't accept something or someone because that is the way it's supposed to be. We choose what and who we want. This is the story of Em finding her true love and deciding what she really wants in her life. The ending is very romantic and I loved it.
Ryan and Em met in College and fell in love. Emogen left her family and friends behind to move to Denver with Ryan. They are now engaged to be married in a year when all of a sudden Ryan drops a bomb of his finance. As part of a career move, he was offered to transfer for a year in California. It took E, 9 months to find a job she loves and new friends. Her career is finally picking up and she just can’t pick up a leave again.
This is where the problem arises. They both fail to talk to one another and things get out of hand. Ryan does not want to end things with Em and neither does she. The problem is that Em feels that he made the decision without discussing things with her.
“I love you, Em. There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for you, and despite what you think, I am thinking of us. This position is temporary, you and me, we’re forever.”
Ryan and Em decide to give this temporary blimp in their relationship a try. They both love each other and are committed to one another (which is a good thing, right? Wrong! We all know the drill.) Now there are missed calls, missed trips and eager people wanting to take a chance with both of them. In comes Trey…OMG I loved him! He knows what he wants and that is Em. After all Ryan is in California and they are not married yet. Ryan makes a mistake and decides to end their relationship because he feels it is not working and it not fair for the both of them.
“Em, you’re trying to hurt me, and it’s working. But you’re going to see that I’m right. Maybe you won’t hate me as much, maybe you will, but I’m letting you go, and I’ll probably regret it for the rest of my life.”
“You don’t know what I want because you’ve never asked. You didn’t give me a chance, because apparently you think you know what’s best. I was planning to quit my job to be with you out there, because I wanted you more than I wanted my career.”
I loved this part because Trey was waiting for his chance and he is no longer going to be in the friend zone. He going after Em and he is going to get what he wants.
“If it’s too soon, just let me know. Okay? But now that I’m no longer your client and you are single, how about letting me take you out? Em there’s no rush; I know that you’re still coming to terms with what happened with you and Ryan, just give me chance.”
Ryan comes back because he realizes he made a mistake. This is the part that pissed me off. He broke up with her and Em is one tough cookie. She has the ring packed up in a box labeled junk and is giving back to Ryan who is shocked.
“I hurt her Joss. I don’t blame her for hating me; you should have seen the way she looked at me when she gave me the ring back. What am I supposed to say to that? No, Em’s moved on.”
Two men both the same woman, one let her go and the other is willing be whatever she needs him to be and give her time, but her heart belongs to one, which one will Em choose? I honestly did not know which one, I wanted Em to choose. They are both swoon worthy and I wanted them both. Was I happy with the outcome? Yes I was! Do we get a HEA? HECK TO THE YES WE DO!!!!!

Geez, I love this book. I read Mine to Lose originally in December, and completely fell in love. I fell in love with the story, with the characters, and with the emotions it brought out. I felt like I needed to reread it in order to write a decent review, so that it’s fresh on my mind. I was really worried it wouldn’t be the same the second time around, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. If anything, it was better the second time.
I completely adore these characters. Ryan and Emogen are two of my very favorites…ever. Ryan is everything you want him to be – Loving, caring, swoonworthy. He has his flaws, sure (they both do), but in the end, it all comes down to just being with Em. He is without a doubt a new book boyfriend. He’s just dreamy. And Emogen! So strong, in so many different ways. That girl powers through so many different obstacles throughout this book, and keeps her head up through them all. I love that she stands up to Ryan in the beginning, even with the consequences of that decision. I say that I love this or love that ALL of the time, but I’m not exaggerating this one. I LOVE these characters and their relationship. They’re the epitome of a couple in love for me. Even with the lies and heartbreak, they just want each other. It’s so simple, yet…not? Hmm.
Rapp really pulls out all of the stops as far as emotions go. You feel them all. Think of an emotion – You’ll find it here. That weird tummy/heart flip-flop butterfly feeling? Lots of that in Mine to Lose, but for different reasons. There’s the good flip-flop that has you swooning when Ryan says just the right thing (or maybe a different character…?) There’s the bad flip-flop when you think you know what’s about to happen and you want to stop time (I was screaming at my kindle “No no no! Don’t you do it!”) You’ll be completely heartbroken and angered. Giggling, then crying. It covers them all. In the end, I just enjoyed reading their story so much. There were also a couple different touchy subjects covered in the last half of the book, but Rapp handles them with care and I feel like she wrote them in just right. Even with those subjects, it never feels like she added them just for the sake of drama. It all flows and it’s never TOO much.
There’s also a specific sentence that I still giggle over, even the second time around, but I can’t post it because it’s very spoilerish. And a certain scene towards the end is one of my new favorite moments in a book ever. Ever. Ever ever. You’ll know it when you read it. I sorta want to talk hubby into buying a Jeep just so I can have a small tiny bit of their story in my real life.

Emogen (Em) is an event planner whom followed her fiancé Ryan to Denver in pursuit of his job. After only six months of living in Colorado, Ryan drops the bombshell that he has accepted a position in San Diego, a move that will set him up for future promotion opportunities. He has made the decision unilaterally, assuming that Em will leave her job to follow him to California. Problem is, Em really likes her job and is quite good at it. She’s finally been given her first big solo project and she is eager to make a name for her self in the industry.
When the two decide to try a geographical bachelor arrangement they soon find that long distance relationships are far harder than they had anticipated, especially given that Em’s current client is one tall, hot Trey Miller. Em and Ryan had made Trey’s acquaintance previously when he’d stepped between Em and Ryan having an alcohol-fueled dispute one night at the club. Em doesn’t come clean to Ryan that Trey is her client and Trey is incredibly open with his attraction to her. Ryan has his own secrets, so between things unspoken and the distance, the two decide to call it quits. How can a couple with four years of history together call it quits so easily? Will they be able to get past the loneliness and heartache that comes with jealousy and distance?
Mine To Lose was a sweet contemporary romantic story of two people trying to find their way back to each other while finding themselves in the process. Through shared loss and sadness, Ryan and Em attempt to rebuild their relationship, to use the love they’ve shared over the last four years as a reminder of why they fell in love in the first place. Ryan especially learns what the most important priorities should be in life, not only for Em’s happiness, but for his as well.
The book was well written and is a quick read, I just didn’t really connect with the characters on more than a superficial level. My favorite of the characters was Trey, the other man, and I am eager to read his book, Mine To Steal, which is the next book in the series. The events of the book were a little predictable but it still made for a good read. Like I said, I can’t wait to see what Trey has up his sleeve. He was just too sweet in this book and deserves his own happily ever after! Mine To Lose is a standalone with no cliffhanger. It is a good solid four stars.
Emogen and Ryan are engaged and ready to live out their happily ever after. The have moved to Denver and both have found new jobs and are happy. But when fate steps in and offers Ryan a job that will help him advance his career, things begin to go terribly wrong. He has accepted the job in California and just assumes that Emogen is ready to follow… but Emogen has a new job and she loves it. Planning events is what she wants to do and she wants to succeed in it.
She has refused to go with him, but she is scared that the long distance relationship isn’t going to work, but she is willing to try. Ryan wants nothing more than to succeed in his career with Emogen by his side. They are ridiculous in love and both vow to make it work.
Trips start getting cancelled to see one another and Emogen can’t help but question the beginning of the end. But there are things they are each omitting from their conversations… Emogen’s first big client happens to be a guy who hit on her at a bar. Trey is good looking and knows that Emogen is spoken for. But he can’t help but be attracted to her… But can Emogen have the same feelings for Trey or will her heart always belong to Ryan?
With the added issues of Emogen’s mother and evil man of the month, Emogen is forced to deal with some very trying times. It seems almost alone. But the one that comes to comfort and stay by her side is where her heart belongs.
I thought this was a beautiful story. It was about growing, learning, trusting and about love. I laughed and I cried. I shared a lot of emotions with the characters in this book, because they were real. They were not over inflated characters. I could relate to them because they were like me… well, ok, so they had a lot more drama going on than I do, but they were normal people.
This book had me from the very beginning with the note on the car to the very end and the note in the car. I loved every moment of this book and I was sad when it ended because I wanted more of the story. T.K. Rapp does an amazing job and I am very excited to read more works from her! This was a great book!

This was a cute read about having love, losing it and trying to get over just to come about face. You live, learn and become stronger then you ever thought you would. The author handles serious issues of abuse that not only hurt one but the whole family. You learn to grow as a person, find out little things just aren’t important, sometimes life gets in the way and you have to make hard choice that could make you lose the love you thought was strong.
Emogen and Ryan must discover the important things in life, sometimes going the money route isn’t always the best choice. Each of them have love and each will lose it, when a new member is bought into play things get complicated and they are about to lose everything that is important to time. Will their love hold or will they find someone new?
At first I didn’t care to much for this story, all they did was fight. Emogen like so many women expect him to read her mind. Don’t do as I say do as I want you to. They spent to much time fighting, as the author writes on the story takes on a new life, you watch Emogen grow, learn and lose only to grow more and find what she truly wants in life.
Ryan like most men does what he feels is important for his soon to be family. Only to find out it might be his biggest mistake. He soon learns that communication is the best skill he can learn when dealing with a women.
Here you have two people who love but lack communication skills they need to make this relationship last. Then you have the other man who would give anything to call Emogen his. I honestly love Trey and I would have been totally happy with her picking either of these men. Trey is honest, caring and loving, he is one of the good guys.
At first I thought this would end in a cliffhanger, I was happy to see it did not. I do hope the man who lost will have his own story. I do look forward to reading the next book up in this series.
From the start this book had my emotions going. I was instantly relating to the situation presented from the start of this book, having had moved all around with my husband. The idea that he would take a job that would move him without consulting me had me pissed as I read about Em and Ryan in this situation. So as I read this I became Em, I was shouting you go girl! and thinking who cares if you are irrational because he did a jerk move! I love when a book has me feeling what the characters are feeling and identifying with them.
I have to admit there is a tiny little love triangle in this story but it is perfectly written that I don't think anyone can be mad. I thought I was going to be mad because I was all for one guy and then it became clear that no it was not going that direction. So I was sitting there reading getting a bit frustrated when the remarkable happened, I was happy with who gets the girl! I sat there stunned at this because normally when I root for a person I lock on and don't let go. T.K. writes this perfectly though that I move with the story and become one with Em's decision, perhaps because from the start she had me wrapped up in Em.
This is a beautiful story of love and heartache showing the trials and tribulations relationships go through, even when you would think the honeymoon should still be going on. This story shows a reality many relationships swim in and executes those hardships beautifully. With all of this there is also the element of shock the was weaved in. Seriously, there was a moment when I sat there and went "WTF!??! No WAY!!"
For anyone looking for a contemporary romance that strikes at the heart of relationships and leaves you questioning whether love is enough, and if not, what is, then this is the book for you.
4.5 Stars Mine to Lose is a story of true love and what happens when life gets in the way. Ryan and Emogen thought they found their happy ever, but a series of decisions they each make starts to unwind their relationship.
This was sort of gut wrenching in the way that it was something that could happen in just about any relationship.
When Ryan accepts the job without consulting Emogen she starts to wonder how he could make such a huge decision without talking things over with her first. When she decides that she won't go with him because she has her own career just getting off the ground he believes they can make it work because it's only temporary. This is where things spiral out of control. Slowly Emogen starts questioning their relationship and when she finds herself attracted to a new client all I could see was how things would only get worse.
All I kept thinking was, NO Em don't do it!! I mean don't get me wrong Trey was a great guy and I could totally see the attraction, and he was respectful of her relationship with Ryan, but it just didn't sit well with me how close they were getting.
This book sent my emotions all over the place. I was happy, then disappointed, then worried, then sad. It was a roller coaster and I loved every second of it. Ryan and Em's relationship wasn't a fairytale. They each had their flaws and made mistakes. Will their love be enough to stay together or can one small mistake spiral out of control and ruin their HEA? You'll have to read to find out but you will fall in love with this story and all of the characters.

TK Rapp included me as part of the beta reading team for this book, I read this story in various stages and versions before the end product was published. Each time I read what was provided, I wanted to know, what was going to happen next. Mine To Lose throws the reader right into the middle of a volatile argument between the main characters Em and Ryan. Ryan’s decision to take a year-long assignment for his job in another state has Em reeling with emotions and they immediately manifest in anger. Considering her age and the honeymoon stage of their relationship, this seemed like a realistic response. As the book progresses the back story on how Em and Ryan meets is revealed. It provided me insight on how this couple came to being and the type of relationship they had. Both were driven to advance their careers and Em had made significant sacrifices for Ryan in pursuit of his advancement. I loved how TK Rapp had Em immerse herself into her job in Ryan’s absence. The introduction of Trey into the story also upped the intrigue factor for me and provided a nice dose of temptation to keep the storyline sizzling. The revelation of certain events in San Diego left me with my mouth agape and put in a twist I was not expecting. Mine To Lose is a wonderfully crafted tale that takes its reader through a whole host of emotions. I felt frustration, empathy, compassion, despair and relief at various points in the book. The conclusion of the story has left a wonderful segue into a spin off which I cannot wait to see where TK takes this series.
Words have surpassed me as I don't know how to even begin this review. My heart felt like a piece of meat that kept being returned to the chef to "fix" as it would be cooking at a steady pace and then got burned only to then be undercooked and returned back to the chef. My heart floated, ached, and was seared by Em and Ryan's story. Em and Ryan have been together for 3yrs. They met in college, him in grad school while she was a undergrad. Seeking Ryan out, Em was her confident, determined self. Em and Ryan's biggest lesson to be learned is communication and the physical distance put between them doesn't help this fact. Em's confidantes, Lang, Joss, and Cam are stuck to Em like Velcro supporting her through the difficult transitions she faces. My heart raced out of anger and fear because I felt what Em and Ryan had and it was real. My heart shattered and tore through the pain, both emotional and physical. I connected with the rage, doubt, fear, hope, and love that was seeping from the pages into my being. TK's words flew together perfectly giving this novel depth and meaning. The ties between friendships had me itching for some of the other character's stories. I couldn't get enough and I didn't want to "lose" re connection I built with Em, Ryan, Lang, Joss, Cam, and Trey. My heart sobbed from loss, smiled from healed wounds, and sighed from words being spoken. This was my first, but definitely not my last TK read. Give this a try!!
This is a book about true love. I'm not talking the fairytale romance where nothing goes wrong, she's the perfect woman and he's a perfect prince kind of romance. No, I'm talking a real life true love story.
Emogen and Ryan are engaged. Ryan accepts a job in another state, without consulting Emogen, and ends up moving without her.
There were times throughout this book where I wanted to slap Emogen. She came across as a whiny brat sometimes but then I put myself in her position. I guess if everything I knew starting falling a part, I'd be whiny too. Ryan, even though he has his faults, was my favorite character. I really think that he didn't mean to do Em wrong, he was just focused on his career and making something of himself, just as Em was trying to do. Ryan is always there for Em, no matter what. Without giving anything away, I will just say, the hospital scene had me falling in love with Ryan.
Em takes on a huge account at work - her first solo project. We meet Trey, her client. Trey becomes a friend to Em right away, even though he tells her that he would love to have more with her. Will she give in to him?
Emogen and Ryan go through a lot in this book - but the biggest obstacle they face is one that they fight through with all of their love and strength.
I really enjoyed this book. The secondary characters were all great too and I don't think I've ever yelled so much while reading a book (lol).
If you want to read a book about real true love, one filled with heartbreak, obstacles, and roadblocks, this is the one for you!
The setting: Emogen is in the parking lot of her collage.Sitting in her car staring at a guy she has been watching, admiring thinking she doesn't have a fighting chance. So what happens when you step out of your comfort zone and take a chance and follow your inner voice and go after your dreams? And what if you don't lesson to your inner voice and never take a chance on yourself? Meet Ryan a young man going to collage keeping to himself who has just came out of a long relationship and wanting some down time. He's not looking for a relationship or is he. He comes back from class to leave and there is a note on his Jeep.Who is she, should I reply?
I will not give you more than this.Besides me saying what I wrote to TK Rapp right after I finished Mine To Lose. I have not yet wrote a review of my opinion yet on Goodreads or Amazon. I had to come here first and say.... You do not disappoint .. I mean that in the highest compliment. My senses are on high alert right now I'm still in awe. So Thank You .
So now the question is. What would you do if you picked up and moved to be with your soulmate left your family and friend. Then have them secretly take a job that now you will have to move again without telling you.Would you be angry, confused, hurt? Would you pack up and go? Would you stay and follow your own dreams and see where it takes you without the love of your life? Tk Rapp if I was able to give this book more then 5 stars I would. Looking Forward to book 2
Mine to Lose is a story of Emogen (Em) and Ryan (Ry) who are happily engaged to be married. Things seem perfect to Em, until Ryan accepts a job relocation without discussing it with Emogen first. So a long distance relationship begins.
Things seem to be going well. Until secrets, half-truths, and jealousy take over and ends the relationship both Emogen and Ryan thought would always last.
Life continues to go on, although not as easily as Em would hope for. After receiving a phone call, Em rushes home to a injured mother, a worried sister, and a caring Ryan. An accident causes Em to keep more secrets and questions she has to answer for herself.
When a event brings Ryan and Emogen together again secrets are revealed, tears are shared, and a understanding is reached. When Ryan returns home, Em and Ry have to figure out if their relationship is the end of their story or if it was just a fork in the road of life.
This book was a refreshing change of pace for me, it was realistic (fictional or not). Life isn't always easy, and even if there are true fairytales out there, this book was able to make me feel each emotion that the characters felt. Yes there were times I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall, yell at my kindle, or have my tears wiped off of my screen but that just made it that much more real. I can't wait to read more from this author, who seems to breathe real life, not just fantasy or fairytales (although I love those too).
"Mine to Lose" by T.K. Rapp is about Emogen and Ryan who met while attending college and immediately had that spark with each other. They knew they were each others forever love, and to prove that Em picked up and followed Ryan to Denver for his job even though she had a job offer in her hometown waiting for her. When Ryan accepts a transfer to California without consulting Em it jeopardizes their engagement. They both have to rethink whether they've mad the right decisions. To make matters worse they start keeping secrets from another about the people they work with.... they both are working with attractive people that are interested in taking their friendship to the next level.... will they take that leap?
I loved this angsty sweet romance by T.K. Rapp and there were moments I felt Em's pain and Ryan's frustration, and I thought I knew where this was headed but was in for a few surprise twists! I'm so glad I picked this up from the author at a book event.... it was so worth the money!
To me, Mine to Lose is one of those sleepers that you’re not really sure what to expect and then you start reading and……..just wow. Ryan and Em’s story will have you falling in love, break your heart, and make you cry, frustrate you, make you smile…..your emotions will most definitely be put to the test. I found myself holding my hand over my heart for fear it would beat out of my chest and tears welling up in my eyes more often than not………simply beautiful. Overall, Mine to Lose is well written, well developed, with characters that will put you in such an emotional twist that there are times when you won’t be able to decide if you want to laugh, cry, or beat the hell out of something….or maybe even someone!! If you’re in the mood for a wonderful, emotional roller coaster of a journey, Mine to Lose is absolutely a read you don’t want to miss out on. Grab a blanket, your beverage of choice, curl up in your favorite reading spot and brace yourself for an incredible ride!! ~ 4 Stars ~
4.5 stars. I enjoyed this story, but it starts out pretty angsty and I really wanted to drop-kick Emogen a few times. This couple, early in their relationship, faces a career hurdle that they don't handle very well. I felt like Em was irrational and their communication was poor. Things stabilize a bit, but more events come up. They're already dealing with a long-distance relationship, then there's the possibility of either character moving on as new characters are introduced. Em is faced with a couple of new tragedies on top of everything else. So I really worried what would happen and who, if anyone, would be coupled at the end. This is my third book I've read by this author and I like how the stories feel real, yet the romance is still clean.
EM and Ryan were engaged when he took a job in another state just a Em's career started taking off. Em was immature sometimes but Ryan.... wow not sure I like him. Her friends got on my nerves. Trey was pretty awesome. this story kept me reading and was emotional. I never really got invested in Em and Ryan's relationship because the story started right when they were separating so every scrappy thing Ryan did made me like him less. EMail did some pretty immature things too but I was able to sympathize with here more because she never wanted any of this to happen. I still liked the story and the emotional ringer it put me through.
Totally loved this book. The beginning was 5 stars..... I really hated her relationship with trey,.. Especially towards the end, after her a d Ryan broke up..... I would have changed a few things... So the last 25% was 3 stars.... It I loved the epilogue.... And I looooooooooooooooove that it was totally clean. There were some f bombs..... But it wasn't ronchy. Which is so hard to find.. It was a great romance without getting gross and it was about adults. I really like this author! 4.5 stars

A great story, one where two normal people try hard to work at their relationship and their future. Emogen and Ryan are young and in love, but will that be enough? Sometimes life gets in the way, but what's important is the way you deal with things. Emorgen and Ryan are both immature at the beginning of the book and what I liked the most was that they both grew up and learned to deal with emotions. It took time and tears but they got there. I was proud of them by the end of the book.
Mine to Lose is the first book in the Mine to Love series by T.K. Rapp. Great opening book in this series. The storyline was solid and well thought out. The characters were well developed and had great depth, emotion and chemistry. Can't wait to read the next book in this series and more by this author.
I very rarely give a book 5 stars but I absolutely fell in love.. Em was so strong and up afraid to do what she needed to do and I fell in love with Ryan from the start, I was mad, I cried, laughed, surprised, I just loved it! Great love story, bravo T.K Rapp! I highly recommend it!
I enjoyed this one, found all the main characters likable and was very happy and satisfied with the ending. For those of you who care....the steam factor here is non-existent lol. Overall a sweet love story.
My emotions were on a roller coaster ride from start to finish. This book kept me guessing, I loved it. The characters were wonderfully flawed, mistakes and misunderstandings were a part of the appeal of this book. Pick up a copy, you will not be disappointed.
