This is a thriller mystery, the second book in the Shadow Series. This is not meant to be read as a stand alone, it does pick up where the last book left off. But with all the details Addison Kline gives, you are not lost in the book, but I advise reading the first book to get the full story. I recommend this to any one who loves a nail biting read. This book keeps you guessing and there are so many unexpected moments, it is a exciting read. I really love how connected the Morrow family is, and I love how this book extends to new characters that have some sort of relationship to the first characters in the series. I can not wait to read the next book.

This story picks up with a new character coming home, Tristan Morrow is back in school, it has been three years since she was attacked, things have went back to "normal". But is there ever really "normal" after you have been through living hell? Just when people are starting to relax there is a couple murders in town, it hits close to the Morrow family. Fingers are being pointed in every direction, the wrong direction. But not leaving any stone unturned, DiNolfo and her officers are determined to find the killer. Elkhart police department investigation is at a stand still, until Tristan Morrow offers some very important information. Will they be able to solve this case before anything else can happen? Can this small town handle anymore devastation?

Favorite passages:
"A sea of questions churned in her gaze."
"Bast***!" Angie exclaimed vehemently."
"Clearly, the water in the gene pool became tainted after Angie was born."
"They were in the fickle hour when the sky was just waking but the road before them was still dark."
"Oh, shut up, princess! Get over yourself! Let me know when you pumpkin carriage arrives!"
"Angie was of the adventurous variety. Always digging in the dirt or climbing a tree."
"A small memorial for a life that was cut short."
"The other tunnels that they had encountered previously emptied out into the space like the arteries of a heart."
"She missed her sister and friend, and it was hard moving on in life without her companion by her side." <3
"For the first time, Jack realized that there was one person on this earth that loved Tristan more than himself, and he was sitting right in front of him."
"She felt hollow inside. It was a heavy emptiness that wore her down." <3
"A murder of crows lined the roof of 27 Caribou Road, like ancient gargoyles keeping watch from above."
"Bury a secret, and prepare to have it haunt you well past your dying day."

Review: Stolen Innocents is the follow on story to Shadow Dancer and boy, do things step up a notch!

As we learn more about The O'Mara's and in particular their eldest daughter, Angie. The story throughout leads us to know that there is a grave secret in that family...
---------
Excerpt:
Not all haunted houses are the same. While Morrow Manor fits the bill, the modern O'Mara house had more secrets than the whole of Elkhart combined.
----------
But as a the story of the murder comes to light, it is clear to see that females are being targeted. Bringing up memories or Tristan's ordeal three years previous at the hands of Kendricks (Bernard). She had moved on but did things seem a little copycat? Who was it within their community going to great efforts to lead the police to three male suspects?
---------
Excerpt:
Hadn't the Morrow and the Piedmonte families suffered enough?
---------

As with Addison Klines first book, the writing is beautiful and descriptive beyond measure...I felt like I was transported straight into the emotion filled page turner..
---------
Excerpt:
He didn't cry...What happened was far more heart-wrenching than that. Bridgette watched her nephews eyes as his sanity threatened to flicker out of sight...
-----------

As a jewellery box known to the family makes an appearance with some grilling evidence giving an insight into who might be hurt next, the story steps up in danger and onto a new level of on-the-edge-of your-seat-peeing-your-pants lol.
---------
Excerpt:
A heavy sigh released from Bridgette's lungs. She knew what the dates meant. The date on the back of the photograph was the date that each of the women had died at the hands of another.
-----------

But as the story and danger permitted a lot was learned about the Morrow family. Their true feelings and understanding of one another, as well as seeing them no longer as children, but adults too.
----------
Excerpt:
It was so easy to forget that her intelligent, beautiful and courageous niece had been through so much...Bridgette trusted Tristan more as a confidant then as a child.
----------

A truly mind blowing book that just kept getting better. One that didn't feel rushed or the ending cut short. Secrets, betrayal, grief and animosity all outweighed by the support and love of a tight knight community and family who hold on till the very end. One of my top reads of the year!
---------------
Final excerpt:
Bury a secret, and prepare to have it haunt you well past your dying day.

This is the second book in this series and I highly recommend reading them in order to truly understand what is happening. I really enjoyed this book. It takes you on a wild ride. There is suspense, mystery, a bit of romance, and so much more in this book. Tristan, her siblings, her cousin, and Cole and in their senior year at steeplechase academy, it has been three years since the last book. Adam and Liam are police officers now and work with Jenna. They are about to face another horrific mystery, it will take everyone to figure who is cause behind it. Once again the past is the key to the present. Angie O’Mara has come back to town after losing her job and separating from her husband. The O’Mara’s lost one of their daughters twenty years ago and then Angie left the next day, distraught about what happened to her sister. Turns out that Bernard was Angie and her sister’s cousin, he was strange even back then however Angie was close to him. Courtney O’Mara is found dead by Joe right in front of his café. Tommy Morrow’s clothing was found at the scene along with someone else’s gun, and still yet managing to implicate a third person as well. Jenna, Liam, and Adam must get to the bottom of what is happening. Things get worse when another girl is found in the woods killed the same way. Someone is trying to frame these three boys. Who is really behind the killings? I can’t say enough good things about this book as well as the first one in this series. The book pulls in with the mystery of it all. For quite a while I thought none of the three who were implicated were guilty and that it was someone else. I was right however it wasn’t the person I thought it was at first. I love a good mystery and this definitely fits the bill. Addison Kline is a fantastic author and I love everything she writes. She is one of those authors I don’t even bother to read the synopsis first I just pick up the book. The characters in this book are fantastic. They are fierce and loyal to those that are family and that they consider family. I truly hope there is another book in this series in the future. The kids are just starting their life. I would love for Jack to find another love. Tristan and Cole despite their age are in it for the long haul. I look forward to reading more books by Addison in future. Great job again Addison.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Stolen Innocents – Addison Kline.

**Received and reviewed on behalf of Bemybookboyfriend**

First off when someone says ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover’ then listen to them. That is exactly how I felt about this book. When I first read the blurb to this I automatically thought it was a romantic suspense. Wow, how wrong was I, this book was definitely more of a thriller.

The story starts with three sisters Angela, Misty Lee and Tiffany O’Mara. We also meet their moms cousin, Bernard Kendricks, in the summer, July 22nd 1974 in Elkhart. After a tragic event in June 1980 where Angie finds her sister, Tiffany, dead in the forest. That very day she turns 18 and she runs and doesn’t look back….

Skip forward 20 years and we see Angela O Mara married and living in Seattle. Jeremy Macklon has had enough of her career taking over their marriage and decides enough is enough. That day was to start a mountain of events, her husband leaves, she then gets fired from her high flying job for not having a deposition document ready and when she gets back to her apartment, her husband has emptied most of his belongings as well as took their pet cat with him. He also gives up the lease on their apartment, so she has no choice but to run back to the one place that she run away from 20 years earlier…..

As well as the O’Maras’ there’s two other families in this story. The Morrow family and also the Piedmonte family, and one way or another the three families are entangled in the story. When things start to turn dark in the little town of Elkhart the families come together and rally round to help…but is the dark and danger a little too close to home?!

This story was told in third person and for me, was a little too drawn out. It took me until about 35-40% to really get into the book, that was when it really picks up speed for me. By 60% I really needed to find out who it was but just when you think you know…BAM…there’s a twist in the story, but you have to keep reading.

This a tale of twisted depravity, jealousy, hatred and sibling rivalry. It’s dark and twisted but also deals with mental health issues. This is the first Addison Kline book that I’ve read and as my favourite genre is romance this was a refreshing change.

This book holds 4 stars for me.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. I read this book all within the time frames of my lunch and breaks at work. All I wanted to do while reading it was to curl up on my couch with a blanket and a glass of wine. Stolen Innocence is so good that it should be a mini television series.
Addison Kline will keep you guessing from beginning to end. There are a lot of secrets in this town and we all know that we would like our secrets to be burned and pray every day that they never see the light of day.
Shadow Dancer was book one and I already told Addison how much I loved it. Now just having finished book two, Stolen Innocence, I have to say that I am torn. I can’t decide which book was better than the other. She did one hell of a job with this book, which makes me come to the conclusion of that I will never be able to decide which is better. I will tell you this though it is one series you don’t want to miss out on.
It blows my mind on how an author can come up with such amazing, beautiful, hateful characters. She doesn’t miss a beat with any of them.
When you read Stolen Innocence you will not be sorry, I can promise you that. I am beyond impressed with this series. I have grown to love Jake, Tristan, Shane, Liam, Blake, Adam, Frank, Bridgette, and many more characters within the pages of these two remarkable books.
Addison Kline congratulations on writing yet another marvelous book. You have captured my attention over and over again. I just want to crawl in your mind and just sit there and see what kind of stories you have floating around. I know and believe that everything you write will turn into gold.
Awesome job! Thank you so much for allowing and wanting me to be your beta reader.

5 Stars!

I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!

The residents of Elkhart have many hidden secrets, they can run but they can’t hide. It’s been three years since Bernard Kendricks met his death and he still has a hold over the town of Elkhart. Tristan Morrow and her family have worked hard at rebuilding their lives since Kendricks kidnapped her and the truth of Catherine Morrow’s death was revealed. Now a killer is on the loose in Elkhart and no woman is safe. DiNolfo and her officers have three main suspects, but their alibis check out. Can the officers find the person responsible before more lives are claimed?

Elkhart thinks the dark cloud has been lifted from their town, until two murders are committed. Tristan has worked out who the killer is but can she get the information to the Police before it’s too late?

Addison Kline will have you on the edge of your seat as you read the second instalment of the Shadow Series; I didn’t want to put this book down. The children of Morrow Manor have grown up, and their personalities really shine through in this book. They each have their own unique trait that you can’t help but love. The Morrows are a very strong close family; each will do what is necessary to protect the others. I love the banter this family shares, it certainly has a few laugh out loud moments. Addison doesn’t give away the mystery of the killer very easily; hints are made towards several suspects which constantly keeps you on your toes.

Personally I think you need to have read Shadow Dancer before you go onto read Stolen Innocence so that you can fully enjoy and appreciate this story. If you love murder mysteries with suspense and humour, you will absolutely love the Shadow Series.

I am going to start off by saying, if you haven’t read Shadow Dancer first, then download and read it first. It was amazing and will familiarize you with the characters in Stolen Innocents.

Stolen Innocents is the second novel in the Elkhart Case Files. I have read this book a couple of times and I was never bored any of the times that I have read it. When you are reading, you just have to know what’s going to happen next. There is so much suspense that you can’t stop reading because you don’t want to miss one part of this book.

I especially love the characters in this book. Their actions and descriptions are so perfect that you feel like you are a part of this book. I liked the fact that all my favorite characters from Shadow Dancer were all a part of this book as well. My favorite character in this book was Tommy. I also liked that we were able to get to know him better and see a different side to him. I am also a fan of Tristan and Cole’s relationship. They are so cute together. I felt really bad for the O’ Maras because they had to endure so much trauma and devastation.

I totally was not prepared for the shocker reveal at the end. It was written magnificently. You would totally not suspect that coming.Addison's writing is fascinating. She pulls you into her world by captivating you with her profound and innovative imagination.

This was such an excellent read and I highly recommend it to anyone that reads any genre. Although this is a mystery novel, it gives you a little of everything. There is even a tad bit of romance in there. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait for Murder of Crows!!

We start out the book, meeting Angie O'Mara. She used to live in the house next to the Morrows. When she was able to get out of Elkhart, PA, she did and went all the way across the country. One thing leads to another, causing her to lose things and people around her. What happens after she loses her job? Where does she go? What happens before she goes other than the loss of her job? When she shows up in Pennsylvania at the airport, who picks her up? I am telling you, this book is packed with action from the beginning to the end. I could not put it down. Only my eyes drooping and me falling asleep in the middle of reading the first night caused me to put it down. Addison Kline has a way with words. We get to catch up with Tristan and her family from the first book. We see what happens to the former teacher Bernard. We learn more about the Bone Tree, and what it hides. One thing that is said throughout the book that won't give anything away was that secrets always reveal themselves or come out. With Bernard dead, who is behind the recent group of murders? I was shocked! Who are the likely suspects? One of them in particular surprised me, but with something of theirs showing up at crime scenes, there is no way the cops can't look. Catching up with Joe, Liam and Adam was fun too. You need to read this book. If you have not read the first time, read it, then read this one. It will make more sense that way, because you will understand the players and what happened before that is referenced throughout. Great job, Addison Kline! I hope there will be a third book!

It may be 3 years since Tristan was kidnapped and Bernard was dealt with BUT the trouble is far from over. Long lost family returning to town , new murders and a list of suspects that all have solid alibis ?? Brace yourself for this roller coaster ride full of mystery and suspense. Who is really doing the killing and will they be caught in time or will their pile of pictures and dates prove true ?? I have the chills just thinking of it all. Addison does such a great job with the mystery, her writing tends to give you enough to form your own speculations yet not enough to be 100% convinced. Again I enjoyed the bond that has been formed with this gang- The Morrow's and their extended family are such a great group of people I was on the edge of my seat at times fearing the worst yet hoping for the best. I couldn't help but feel for the O'Mara's , their family suffered so much 20 years ago and now when they should be happy to have one of their own back after all that time they suffer yet another hit. I want to say my mind was at ease by the end of the story - that this town and these families will finally be at peace but man I think I am feeling unsettled still !! Those tunnels and that mine - WOW talk about having my claustrophobia kick in - I was breathing heavy and feeling closed in. Addison is great at setting the scene and making you feel her writing. I am always intrigued by her writing and look forward to anything else she throws our way in the future !!

This is book two in this series and in my opinion book one needs be red first. Wow this book was fantastic. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. It was full of surprises, mystery, plenty of suspense, and action. Many times I heard myself gasp in shock at plot twists. I loved this and love when an author can shock me.

"Bury a secret, and prepare to have it haunt you well passed your dying day"
This town is full of secrets and it is exciting. After about three years since her attack, Tristan Morrow is now doing well and back in school. But then BAM more murders occur in town and the police seem to be stuck without answers. This was scary. Luckily the Morrow family is a very close one. Will the town be okay? Will Tristan and her family stay safe or become another number on the murdered list?

Just when I thought book one could not be beat I am now not sure as I really loved this book. The story was exciting and amazing and very unpredictable. The characters were wonderful with maybe one or two that I wanted to strangle, lol. Addison Kline you are such a talented writer. This is the fifth book I've read by you and loved it. Your talent for details and cool and crazy plots just amazes me.

Stolen Innocents is the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading Shadow Dancer first. Not only will it help you understand what is going on in Stolen Innocents but it picks up where Shadow Dancer ends. In the beginning of this book, the Morrow family was getting back into a normal routine with their lives. That is until the murders and accusations.

I love a well written mystery and SI definitely didn’t disappoint. It is full of action, mystery and some romance. It had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. This book has so much going on that with the plot that I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what was really going on and get to the bottom of this mystery.

I loved this series. The characters in this book have a lot of secrets that they would like to keep buried in the past. Ms Kline had me feeling everything these characters went through. I was holding my breath while reading this story; I couldn’t believe what this poor family had endured. I love the bound that they share and cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves a mystery novel.

Addison Kline’s Stolen Innocents is an exceptionally thrilling mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Morrow family had several years of calm and normalcy. The kids are growing up and everyone’s lives are changing. Instead of focusing on finals, prom and college acceptances the family is forced to deal with a dark and threatening presence in their town.

Stolen Innocents is a very gripping novel from beginning to end. Addison Kline's style for book 2 of the Shadow Series takes on a darker and more sinister tone. Her lyrical writing style lends itself beautifully to the characters and action she creates. There are some very shocking moments as the story unfolds.

There is a lot to keep up with in regards to characters and action. I held my breath through most of Stolen Innocents; I am holding my breath waiting for the release of Book 3 of the Shadows Series.

This book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

This was an excellent continuation from Shadow Dancer which I thoroughly enjoyed also.
There was an intriging back history into the Morrow family and those that are nearest and dearest to them.
I could not put this one down, it was hard to sleep,
It had a little of everything you could of wished for in a book
Romance,
Mystery,
Intrigue,
Suspense,

And once again,Addison certainly did not dissapoint with this one, it was well-written and the story had a very smooth flow, and I continued to gell with each and every character, and cannot wait to read more from the Morrow's and Co.

This is a well earn't 5 star book,

And I would deem it be a Must Read Series for 2015

This book was hard for me to review. First all, I did enjoy it. I enjoyed the drama and suspense; I didn’t guess who the perpetrator was. I can’t really go into details without giving the plot away.

The action was so fast paced once the story heated up, that my head was spinning with the quick swap between characters. There were so many characters that it was hard to relate or engage in any of them…so many characters that it was mind boggling at times. I do wish I had time to reread the first book as my memory was a bit vague regarding all the characters. I feel a glossary in the front would be helpful in explaining who’s who. I highly recommend you read both books in the series consecutively. Once I remembered who was who, the story held my attention and I was crying and reading faster to find out what was happening next.

description

I loved this book! It had just the right amount of suspense for me and the nice little twists throughout the story were perfect.

Angie has a dark secret that she is running from, but it comes back to haunt her. A past she can no longer run from. The Morrow, O'Mara , and Piedmonte families all have to figure out what is going on before anything else happens. All is fine until Angie comes home. Everyone was happy living their own lives.

The horror starts when Angie's sister turns up murdered, now to find out who did it...
All the hidden secrets must come to light sooner or later. Will the mystery get solved? Do you find out who is behind the murder? You will see, after more secrets come out and people start recalling there own pasts to put some of the pieces together.

The Morrows are back again and stronger than ever! Everyone has a secret in this small town and some are about to come out. Tristan has finally got her life back to normal and ready to graduate with the rest of her siblings, cousins and boyfriend. Things are starting to get scary in town when young women start dying. The cops are trying to narrow down the killer but honestly its not who you think it is at all. Addison has so many twist and turns in this that you never see coming. Who knew all that excitement could happen in tunnels under a hollow tree. Addison has done it again, it held my attention from beginning to end especially with trying to find out who the killer was and why they did it. This book is amazing!

****AWESOMENESS!!***

I am not surprised that i loved this book by Addison Kline..I loved the first one in the series. With this book being #2 in the series I must say it didn't out shine the first, it was equally great. It takes place three years after the first book and that is all the spoiler i am going to say about that! lol I loved how Tristian has grown in three years and doesn't take nothing from anyone! I cannot wait to read #3 Murder of Crows coming out in March! There are so many twists in this series that make you try to guess who it is, sorry... Addison is too good of a writer for you to do it until the very end when it unfolds in the story making you go..i did not see that coming! I love how she does that!!

This sequel to Shadow Dancer was more thrilling, dark and edge of my seat than the first installment. The current segments of this book occur 3 years after the current flashes in book one. I enjoyed seeing how the Piedmonte and Morrow families grew during the interlude and again enjoyed how Addison would use flashes of jumping back and forth in time and between coasts to fully play up the story to the fullest. I was so certain I knew who was guilty and what was going to happen - and then poof everthing gets turned upside down and I am thrown for another loop. I am dying waiting for book three to come out and learn so much more of the past that all bled into our current times and the horrors of book one and two

This book kept me guessing from page one! You just never knew what was going to happen. Very unpredictable! I have not read the first book but I am going to be very soon.
No one wants our secrets to be told but some times those secrets have a way of sneaking up behind us and showing themselves. This book had me on the edge of my seat through the entire book. Nail biter doesn't even begin to describe this book. The characters are amazing and you just can't stop reading once you get started.
You will be missing an awesome book (series) if you don't start reading this one. I applaud Addison Kline for being able to keep her readers so involved that you just hate it when the book ends!! I am one that will be reading more books with her name as the author! Loved it!

First things first. Although the storyline for this book is contained within this story, it is the second book in the series. And, given the huge number of characters and their complicated familial ties, I suspect that this book would be significantly easier to follow if you read book 1. As I hadn't, this made the story somewhat confusing in places, and I struggled to feel any real connection with any of them.

That aside, the underlying thread of the story was involving and had plenty of twists. The pacing was good, and the tension and action definitely cranked up significantly in the last few chapters.

Overall, a diverting way to spend a few hours.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Shadow series and if you thought Shadow Dancer was twisted, this will blow you away!

Three years after Tristan Morrow was kidnapped and returned home, a serial killer is on the loose. Having already killed two women, the town of Elkhart is terrified of what will happen next.

Being so far away from town, the younger Morrow children only know bits and pieces of the tragedies. With two women dead, Sargeant DiNolfo and her officers are at a standstill of suspects. They had three leads, but all checked out with airtight alibis.

How is Bernard Kendricks still able to torture the people of Elkhart from the grave? How does an unsolved murder from twenty years ago come to life again?

This series is fabulously written! Dark, twisted and full of surprises ~

Addison Kline has put together an excellent second book in The Shadow Series. Much like the Shadow Dancer, Stolen Innocence is so intricately detailed and exceptionally written I wanted to read as fast as possible to see what happened next and at the same time, I wanted to read as slow as possible for fear I would miss something. I was never lost in the detail and each piece of information left me wanting more. The way she carries the story line, I felt like I was there from start to finish with the characters. Highly recommended as a 'Must Read' for not only mystery readers but all who enjoy a genuinely good read.

* * * * * 5 Star Review

Morrow's Family is trying to be as normal as possible after the chaos they survived 3 years ago in the hands of Bernard Kendricks. Elkhart, PA doesn't know that danger is lurking underneath.

When Angie O'Mara moves back to her hometown after 20 years of being away, she is forced to face her demons and one was hunting her from the grave.

After a series of murders on Elkhart is facing the monster that is dwelling within the community.

Addison Kline has outdone herself delivering another exceptional book. Stolen Innocents will have you in the edge of your sit throughout the book.

I recommend for you to read.

I can't tell you how much I love this book. Addison never disappoints me with her books. I love all of her books I've read. This one is no different. She writes strong women that don't back down from problems. I love that. Tristian is one of my favorite female characters in this book. It's a tie between her dad Jack and her boyfriend Cole for my favorite male character. They are both strong and protective of Tristian and their family. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. All the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. The identity of the bad person surprised me, I didn't see that twist coming. I have to give this book 5 huge stars, it deserves everyone of them.

What can i say about Addison Kline. All her books are awesome. Stolen Innocents is jsut as good you will be sitting on your seat trying to figure out what is going on. I always love a good mystery and this book is worth reading. It had everything in it from Romance to Suspense.
You will fall in love with the Marrow Family as you try to figure out who is killing all the young girls in town. Addison keeps you on your toes when you think you know who it is you are so wrong. Make sure you read the first book so you have a better understanding of this one. This is a awesome book one that you will not regret to read.

Family strong

Book 2 of The Shadow series is just as action packed as Book 1. Reading book 1 is practically a necessity for this series.

Just when you think life is settling down for the Morrow's, it's actually just getting started. There's a new Sergeant in town. One that believes in getting cold cases cleared. She is also handed a slew of new ones too.

Not only do we get to see further into the lives of the characters from Book 1, we meet new characters. Corrupt cops, drug dealers, murderers, love and the true meaning of family.
