I just finished Wicked Power and I'm like more...I want more!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed how the characters' strengths, weaknesses, and motivations pulled me into the story line. The pacing was great! There were scenes that made me laugh out loud and some that even made me tear up a time or two! I know everyone is in love with Ketchup, but I have to admit one of my favorite characters (that I'm dying for more of) is Oscar! I can't wait to see what he does in book three! Great job Sheree! Okay...now where is book three? ;)
'I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest reveiw'
Van and Ketchup have gotten a lot closer since they saved Zander and Ketchup found out about what they are. Ketchup is still jealous of Noah though and although Van can't stand the thought of not having Noah as a friend she still feels that he knows more then he is letting on. Now Van and Zander also have to deal with David. They are happy to find out some of what they really are but David is cruel and Van and Zander both feel that there is more then meets the eye with David. When Van's sixteenth birthday comes around she finds out that she has certain gifts that she knows David would use to his advantage if he knew about them so she and ketchup keep them a secret.
Zander wants to get back at Ivy. He wants to make it up to Van. He still wants to kill Ketchup but he is trying to get over it because he knows he can't keep him and Van apart anymore. It's not fair. David is a pain in his rear but when they go to the compound with him for two weeks he knows that he needs to make David think that he has come around to his way of thinking so that when he has the chance he can go after Ivy. But even after what she did he still feels a need to protect her. Then he meets Annabelle. He's not sure if he can trust her or any Godling for that matter after dealing with David. Annabelle makes him laugh and he can be the person that he has always wanted to be with her.
My Opinion: This book was just as good as the first one. I LOVE Van and Ketchup together. I'm still undecided about my opinion of Noah. There was definitely a lot of intrigue and twists and turns in this one. You learn about Godlings which is what Van, Zander and their brother Oscar are. The group that sent Ivy to hurt them is the Eroi. And yay! We finally find out what Ketchup's real name! This was definitely another page turner in my opinion as I again found it hard to put down. I think that the author has a very creative mind and comes up with some pretty original ideas. I definitely recommend reading. However this book is not a stand alone. You must read book one first. I am highly anticipating book three!
I received Wicked Power because the author took pity on me. No actually she provided me with a copy for an honest review, and honestly is what you are going to get. In Wicked Hunger, Van and Zander Roth are sister and brother trying to figure out who they are. They have a hunger that they just don't understand. There older brother, Oscar, has given in to his hunger and is locked up in an institution. In Wicked Hunger, Zander meets a girl (Ivy) that he both loves and wants to kill. From Van's first meeting of her, she knew that something was wrong. It is a book that is a must read, and it is currently free on Amazon. In Wicked Hunger, we also get to meet Ketchup. At first he seems like a minor character, but he ends up not being so minor. Wicked Power continues that story of Zander and Van. Oscar is also included. They have finally find out what they are, and they are shocked and also hurt that they were never told. They had no idea that their hunger could be controlled, and that they are more out there like them. The one person that has stuck by Van and even Zander is Ketchup. He knows that one wrong move and Van and Zander could kill him. But oddly he is the one person that makes Van sane. And in an amazing and touching scene from the author, Ketchup's name is revealed. Wicked Power is a book that you are not going to want to put down. The plot is awesome and there ways it goes that I never saw. This is just not your typical YA paranormal. Its not about vampires or ghosts or shifters. It is about two teenagers that are trying to discover what they need to do. Van, Zander and even Oscar are led to Wicked Glory...
*I was given this book in return for an honest review*
I don't know how to put this into words. The characters develop even more, the plot just jumps out from the page and OMG... I need a Ketchup of my own. Delsheree, that needs to be arranged ASAP!!!
This book is amazing. We continue a little further from where we left off in book 1. The siblings are training with David and finding out more about who they are while trying to decide for themselves of who they want to become. This book focuses on this struggle of deciding yourself who you want to be or getting the decision taken out of your hands. It explores the different kinds of love; with friends, family, and the more-than-friends ;)
New characters are introduced; some we like and some we DEFINITELY do not but all of them are an interesting asset to the storyline and fun to read as they create their own relationships and develop in their own ways.
...And of course we finally find out Ketchups name. It is not what I expected but it really suits him as the solid and supportive guy that you find him to be underneath the jokey, funny, sweet guy.
The only thing that the author needs to learn is that readers don't always appreciate having many heart attacks throughout the book and then ending with a cliff hanger that makes you NEED the third book that hasn't even been fully written yet! You better hurry up Delsheree, I don't think the characters or I can wait much longer (even though I have just finished it)
I'm a big fan of Delsheree :D In the first novel, wicked hunger, we get to know struggle of van and zander to keep their hunger in control, to hide their secrets, to protect each other. Van's determination and hope to have a normal life like everyone against her wicked hunger. Ketchup selfless love for van is really amazing . He is always there for van to help her even after knowing her secrets . He got no special power but still brave enough to say " I will never leave you alone van ' and Is ready to fight against everyone including zander to proect her. Oscar , van brother , who has given up to his hunger, is a person who hate lies. Zander love for Ivy turned out to be a trap for his family . She belongs to enemy group named Eroi. So David comes as a saviour as well a torture to them who offered to help them . But is it really easy to deal with wicked hunger, wicked power, when Eroi group is their waiting for their true chance to kill them ? Will it be able to have a normal life like van dreamed of ? Will they be able to fall in love ? With great power comes a responsibility , will they be able to be responsible enough to use their hunger in right way or give up to their hunger? All these questions are being answered in wicked power . So let Delsheree take you to the world where there is laugh , cry , suspense , wonders , and much more where you can't be able to close the novel without feeling uncontrollable hunger to finish it . So don't wait just go for it :-)
This book was really good! I loved the first book, but this is so much better. Van and Zander finally get answers to what they are. David enters their lives, and starts training them to control their hunger. They meet new Godlings, people who also suffer from Hunger, and who live in a compound learning how tho deal with this in life. Van and Ketchup continue to grow closer to eachother. Ketchup is such a fun character. He will do everything for Van, but is so full of fun and mischief, you just can't help but LOL whilst reading his thoughts. Annabelle also becomes a very important part of this story. She is also a Godling, who has an amazing gift. Zander is drawn to her, and they soon become very close friends. Once again Miss Gladden had done an excellent job. So far I have read 5 books by Miss Gladden, and they are all excellent. She has a way of drawing you into the story, making you feel so invested in the characters. I have to keep reminding myself that it is just a story, I almost feel like the characters have become my friends and I am so invested to find out what will happen to them.
*I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.*
From the beginning, Wicked Power sucked me in, refusing to let me go until I had finished reading it. I sometimes find myself let down by the second books in various series, but this one was perhaps even better than the first. It started off where Wicked Hunger left off with Zander and Vanessa dealing with the aftermath of Ivy's deception, coming to terms with the fact that there are others like them, and trying to find out who to trust. The pace of this book was excellent and I felt that everything written had a purpose which kept me completely immersed in Zander and Van's world. The character development continued to deepen and I felt myself even more connected with the characters. I even came to love a new character introduced. Wicked Power has it all. There is action, suspense, and sweet romance. I never thought I would fall in love with a condiment but HOLY COW, Ketchup is AMAZING! *Swoons.* The cliff hanger at the end has me antsy to get my hands on the next segment, Wicked Glory!
WICKED POWER by DelSheree Gladden gets 5 stars from me again.
In the second in her series it's all about power. Intense, powerful and thought provoking with an ending that definitely leaves no room for passing up the third volume of this trilogy, WICKED POWER rolls toward a multifaceted climax that left me wanting more.
In book two, readers get to see the power behind the hunger in book one, and it's a multilayered, intense disruption in every facet of their lives.
Relationships, family, friends, love, pain—there is always pain—and a driving hunger for answers come together in a powerful conclusion that is sure to change the lives of Zander, Van, and everyone who knows them in the next episode of SOMEONE WICKED THIS WAY COMES.
I was memorized by the concept in book one, WICKED HUNGER,it carried over to book two, and I know Ms. Gladden will not disappoint in the next in the series. I will be waiting, but not so patiently :)
When i received this book it was so that i could give an honest review.
I never expected to be rendered apeechless.
I thought it couldn't get better than Wicked Hunger but as i read through i was more captivated, not only with the amazing storyline, but with how each character was developing.
Go get your copy! You will not be disappointed! You will not waste your time or money! You'll be fully satisfied! Deeply enriched and the characters will stay with you for ever!
Ketchup and Van remains my most loved characters. But Zander and little Annie is an interesting development. Oscar is a funny one not quiet as insane as he is believed to be.
My love for this book is overwhelming. Its a most read! Go and get yours TODAY!!!
this second in the series does not disappoint. we are again plunged into a paranormal world that is totally new and different. the story is engaging and the characters are compelling. just what you want but you are always guessing trying to figure out what is going on it this universe. who and what are the eloi and the assassins (godlings) thought I had a handle on it. wrong. waiting for the next book. I did not get this book for a honest reveiw I paid real money for it and plan to spend real money on # 3 . I am cheap and there are so many free books but this series is well worth spending your hard earned cash
In book one there were so many questions left unanswered, I didn't get it, although towards the end of the book things became a little clearer. Book two is a book of answers and clarity, and more questions!!! As the book progresses so does the intensity, intrigue, mystery. I adore Van and Zander and Ketchup (love his real name), and towards the end of the book love Oscar and his sarcasm! Hate David with a passion! Really didn't see the last ten percent of the book coming at all...roll on book three!
What a great story! Another creative book from Gladden. She defintely knows how to capture my attention.
I haven't read #1 in the series yet, unfortunately, but this worked as a standalone. Took a little while to get invested in the characters but once I did I loved them. Can't wait to read more. I will be reading the first book soon and #3 when it comes out.
Absolutely awesome read! I really enjoyed the first book, but the second was so much better. Excellent plot and story development- I loved it more than the first and can't wait to read the third. Note- this is second of a series, it is NOT a standalone and should be read after Wicked Hunger.
I'm glad I persevered and read book 2. I really liked this book. The characters were more developed and the storyline moved along nicely. I found book 1 confusing because it took too long to let the reader know exactly what "the hunger" was all about.
I loved the first book, but this is so much better. It started off where Wicked Hunger left off, and keeps getting more and more addictive as you keep reading. Another all nighter for me, and another great book to recommend to others.
This was even more awesome!! I liked Zander here. I didn't in last book but he have improved and lol I like Oscar very much! I'm weird like that. And Ketchup!! He is just awesome, love him! And the fact I got to know his real name was a bonus! Jumping into next book, so relieved I already have it!!
much better than book 1! gives more info that book 1 was missing . you cant tell the author is growing and evolving into a much better author. cant wait to read more from her!
David is forced to stay with the Roth family to train Zander and Vanessa when they are unwilling to leave with him and the strict rules the siblings have lived by are relaxed somewhat. But things are not going well with Zander becoming obsessed with finding Ivy, David's brutal treatment wearing them both down and Vanessa becoming ever more suspicious of the secrets that Noah is keeping. David wants them to join him at the retreat for two weeks to expand their training but what exactly is this training leading them towards?
I must say a big sorry to the author! I was given a free copy of the first book to review in 2013 and despite enjoying it, for some reason it has taken me three years to get round to reading the rest of the series. Erk! It was however, well worth the wait!
Vanessa is finding it difficult to control her temper with David pushing her so hard all the time but she does find she is learning about control, which she needs as her full hunger will be hitting when she turns sixteen. She is surprised that David is happy to let her be around Ketchup as he seems to help keep her calmer, and he allows her to continue her martial arts with Noah. Tension is high between Ketchup and Noah when Noah starts trying to make a move on the unwilling Vanessa, and Noah's actions lead to an incident that proves he is keeping secrets, and Vanessa no longer trusts him. The retreat helps her discover that her hunger actually has uses such as being able to detect actual illnesses in people. Could she actually use it to heal people? And why is she now getting visions of the future?
Zander is obsessed with whether or not Ivy ever had feelings for him or if she was just baiting her trap, and he is determined to find out. He is receiving cryptic messages from her phone which he tells nobody about. He tries hard to learn from what David is teaching him so that he can control himself around Ketchup and give Vanessa a chance at having the boyfriend she wants-penance for his earlier mistakes with Ivy. Realising that their grandmother is dying, it dawns on him that with David posing as their uncle, he would take legal control over Vanessa upon her death. In a panic, Zander is about to risk everything by asking the Eroi enemies for help. Will they protect the very people that they sent Ivy to destroy? Zander, what are you DOING???!!!
I liked the addition of Chris, the retreat supervisor who is trying to help Vanessa using kindness rather than David's methods but you do know that as a leader at the retreat, he knows all the secrets that David is keeping and what the future holds for the Roths. I also like Annabelle, who becomes friends with Zander and agrees to help him do research on the Eroi-on the condition that he is not doing because he still loves Ivy. Ketchup gets a big role in this book but it seems like every time we think there is a chance for him and Vanessa, a new obstacle seems to be thrown in their path, which is heartbreaking! I was also pleased to see Oscar featuring more in this book, with his siblings visiting him in the hospital and looking for his advice and imput.
We are getting more background on the ongoing struggle between the Eroi and the Godlings. In some ways you can understand why the Eroi want someone like David to be destroyed because you can see that he is really evil and he is killing Eroi in the same way that they are coming after Godlings. It makes me wonder if anyone can be trusted as both sides seem equally bad. Are the leaders all corrupt and misleading all the followers? I was musing over these questions a lot as we went through the book. I also have to question the actions of the Roth family in the way that they raised the children and the mess they created. I suspect more of that will be looked at with Oscar being more involved in the story now.
The plot continues to intrigue as it twists and turns. Will gaining control through David's teachings turn them into someone like him? What does David have planned for the Roths? Will the Eroi be an enemy or an ally? What are the new powers that our MCs are uncovering? What is Noah's secret? What happened the night Oscar killed his parents? Will Ketchup and Vanessa get their HEA? These are the numerous questions that are going to keep me reading this addictive series!
This is a re-read for me, because I'm going to be finishing off the series soon. Delsheree Gladden is an amazing author. This is the second book of the series(Wicked Hunger),this is called Wicked Glory. I don't like to give spoilers away but WOW, even reading it the second time, I still get chills.
Disappointing. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and while I hated Zander in that book I loved both Van and Ketchup. So it was with immense disappointment that I found myself disliking Van for most of this book. In book one she is smart sensible and kind. It this one she is a stupid whiny twit, waffling over a relationship with Ketchup even though she loves him and he loves her, spending time with Noah even though she knows she can't trust him, forgiving Noah and letting him be her friend again after his weird controlling freak out behavior while still pushing away poor loyal Ketchup (who she loves and has done for years). Still not a fan of Zander - he makes some really stupid decisions and still seems obsessed with stupid Ivy - but he is not as bad as the first time around,at least he acknowledges how much he owes Van. He did make one really annoying comment about how much Van ' has grown up' in this book. She was plenty mature and grown up in the first book - she was the one making all the smart choices and seeing the bigger picture way back then when he was the immature selfish jerk. Ketchup is still great - much to good for both Van & Zander. Oscar is interesting and I am also interested in Annabelle. David is completely horrible and I am looking forward to Van ripping his throat out (please let that happen next book)
This storyline is incredibly captivating and fantastically engaging. I cannot get enough of the Godlings and the Roth's journey to discovery. I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3. It is spell-binding.
Amazing book. It's been a while since I read the first one, and I think I forgot a lot of details. But, Ketchup... I remember loving him for some reason, and I just came to love him even move. Good thing I have the next book on hand because I'm DYING after that cliffhanger ending!
