Music and A Duke

What an amazing story. He goes to buy a piano for his sister's birthday and instead he finds a woman that he wants to make his playing the most beautiful song. She was never meant to be apart of society because of something that her father was falsely accused of, but destiny has a way of changing her course in life and he helps her clear father's name so they can be together..

I thoroughly enjoyed this story I look forward to the rest of the series

Hugh finds an angel who writes and plays music so beautifully. He spent weeks looking for this angel, only to encounter her chaperoning her sister. Hugh does everything to court Anna, but the scandal that haunts her will be difficult to overcome, unless Hugh can find her father's murderer. Anna holds all the secrets, but fear keeps her silent, and the investigators didn't even bother to ask her. I like how Anna haunts his thoughts. The problem is that Hugh actually stalks Anna to places her sister is invited, and continually needs to know where Anna is. He has even bribed her family's staff. Love is alive as Hugh charms Anna and allows her to learn to trust him, which helps Hugh get the answers to Anna's father's death.

Author Cerise DeLand weaves magic into her books! Anna has lived a life fraught with a lot of scandal but she uses her love of the piano to hide the ugliness in her life. Hugh Lattimer murdered Anna's father several years before. When he hears someone playing a beautiful composition in the piano shop, Hugh cannot forget what part he played in Anna's misery and so get sets out to make her life better. Hugh begins courting Anna regardless of her past and the scandals that surround her. Can Hugh and Anna find the love they both deserve it will the past continue to drive them further apart? I cannot get enough of author DeLand's books!

Anna Fournier is a beautiful but impoverished young lady who has great musical talent and composing ability. She meets Hugh Lattimer-the Duke of Kendal-in a music shop when he hears her playing and sees her beauty and is enthralled with her. He cannot get her off his mind. She is living in the home of her aunt and cousin and treated like the poor relation she is. When her aunt falls ill, Anna has to become the chaperone of Lettie her cousin. They run into Hugh Lattimer at a social engagement. He wants to call on her and she forbids it. They continue to meet at social engagements and she is enthralled with him but cannot let her reputation and that of her deceased father ruin him. He still pursues her and she finally agrees to have a rendezvous with him and seize some happiness though she knows it will be short-lived. Their love for each other is on fire. But she loves him enough to shield him from her family scandal. Intrigue, treason and murder all happen in this beautiful romantic tale so masterfully written by Cerise DeLand.
I heartily recommend it.

A Sensual and Suspenseful Cinderella Story

The story of Anna and Hugh is achingly romantic. Their passion is expressed with a sweet eroticism that blazes off the page. They are ravenous for each other from the first meeting. The suspense arises because we don't know Anna's true identity or the scandalous, tragic reason for her desperate circumstances. Hugh adores her and is determined to solve the mystery and make her his permanently. I'll remember these characters and their intensely romantic story for a long time.

Another wonderful story!

Another wonderful historical romance in this series. Anna has a devastating secret that prevents her from allowing herself to imagine a future with the gorgeous duke who offers her love. Together they have to unravel the mystery so that she will be free to marry him and live the life she wants. The character development is very good, and the authors brings the characters’ emotional turmoil to her readers. Great series!

Hugh and Anna!

This was a wonderful and well written historical romance!
A beautiful and fast paced story about a young lady with secrets to hide and the gorgeous Duke who comes to her rescue!
In the process of helping her, he finds out a lot of things about her father who was murdered and in the process they fall in love.. The attention to details is perfect and the steamy love scenes were hot and I loved it! I would have loved an epilogue. This book is a must read.!

A Past That Will Hurt or Not

It was love at first sight for the Duke when he saw Anna. This was one very romantic book. It had drama, action and throughout it. An excellent and exciting book to read. His friend Wainwright I liked. I was happy to read more of Kitty and Justin as well.

This was very meh for me. However, seeing this cover vs the one that appears on my ereader explains why I was less than impressed with the movement of the plot.
The book feels long and yet it isn't that long. It drags in odd places and pays attention to odd details and rushes through other parts.

Very Very Good Story!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I loved the characters and storyline so much. Anna was so brave to have witnessed her father’s murder. Hugh and she made a wonderful couple. The aunt and cousin were b*tches. They were hateful and spiteful. And I’m glad it was solved. On to the next one. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜

Please check out my review for book one in A Recency Romp Series:

Rendezvous with a Duke is book two in the A Regency Romp Series. Both books can be read as standalones, but let me tell you – as having read Rendezvous with a Duke first, I jumped in head first to read Lady Varney’s Risqué Business and I’m so very happy I did.

Anna Fournier is a woman without a future. She has nothing to offer to a man. She enjoys her music and looks forward to the time it will help her escape her Aunt Charlotte. Knowing she is running out of time, she works hard to stay out of her Aunt’s way and to save every shilling.

Hugh Lattimer is a man who has no desire to take a wife, but the moment he hears Anna play he is intrigued. His interest is further solidified when he sets his eyes on the understated beauty. Now if he can only discover who she is.

Both Anna and Hugh cannot fight their attraction. Hugh wants everything with Anna, but she is unable to give her whole heart to him. I absolutely enjoyed that she captured her own desire and basically thumbed her nose at society and it constraints. It was a wonderful change of pace.

Rendezvous with a Duke had a Cinderella feel to it, but with a nice twist. Yes, you had the poor little orphaned girl and the rich handsome Duke, but it still held my interest tightly. You had the "evil step sister" element, but I didn’t hate her cousin Letty. She played a wonderful subtle part in the story and I was happy with her ending. It would be great to see more glimpses of her in later books, but I know she is not a central character.

Hugh was an amazing man that went after what he wanted with passion and determination. He didn't waiver from his path and never doubted they would be together. He had enough gumption to make it work for both of them. Anna was just as determined to enjoy her time with Hugh. She held true to her head not her heart. She knew that even though there was tremendous love between the two of them, she was realistic knowing that her past could devastate the duke and his reputation. She had an amazing head on her shoulders. She is smart, resourceful and a beautiful person.

Ms. DeLand wrote two very entertaining, loyal and heartwarming characters. Her ability to take a story that has been told time and time again and make it her own was brilliant. She added spice, engaging characters, and a touch of mystery. Rendezvous with a Duke is an amazing read and made me want to pick up additional sexy steamy regency reads. I tend to love this genre, but often overlook it. Ms. DeLand made me crave it even more. Thank you very much for reigniting my love of this time period and engaging me with a well written romantic story.

I was a little apprehensive to read this book by Ms. Cerise DeLand since I seemed to have a few issues with the other previous novella that I have read before this one interlude with a baron but I also was somewhat curious about the story. That’s not to say I didn’t like the previous story which isn’t true I still enjoyed it. Still what if this story had the same issues as interlude with a baron, thankfully this story had enough spice thrown together but can also stand alone. There was an intriguing heroine an absolute dreamy hero that I just wanted to jump into their world especially since the heroine had a musical talent and played the pianoforte which made me like the story all that much more!
Anna Fournier while shopping for piano music for her cousin Lettice is caught playing a piece that she composed on the pianoforte. Hugh Lattimer the duke of Kendal comes in the same time to buy a pianoforte and hears Anna playing the pianoforte. Hugh can’t forget the beautiful music or Anna plus wanting to court her no matter the cost. Unfortunately Anna is surrounded by scandal will Hugh persist in courting her or will the scandal destroy them both.
As I mentioned above what really made the story for me was Anna not only was she musical which I really liked about her since I also play the piano and knew some of the musical styles mentioned even though it was brief Ms. DeLand still was able to put in a few references of music that made someone like me that studies music happy. Anna was also a strong, resourceful, intelligent woman who was willing to put up with her family’s mistreatment of her. She still loved her cousin and her aunt even though at times I think they were just using her but she was pretty protective of them and loved them no matter how they treated her. I really liked Hugh too he was an amazing hero who was handsome and didn’t really care about the scandal surrounding Anna just entranced with her music and her. Yes it was a little insta-love and a little quick for my taste but for some reason it just totally works that I do want to reread the story again. That’s why I rated the novella four stars can recommend it for people that don’t mind sexy regencies with a little bit of suspense and will get more books from Ms. DeLand!

I enjoyed this second book in the series. Anna reminds me of Cinderella because of her predicament. When she meets Hugh her light seems to burn brighter. Their banter back and forth, the strong attraction and the beautiful music all work together to weave a story that make you laugh, cry and smile.
