I love kids' books, especially children's picture books. I love getting lost in the magic of the words as they flow into the illustrations. I love picture books so much, that I write my own. I am the author of The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy's Tale and Dust Fairy Tales: Absolutely Aggie.

I'm "just a mom", from Iowa. I began my career as an elementary teacher in the West Des Moines School District. At Iowa Public Television, I wrote educational for teachers and students throughout the state. My dream to publish a children’s picture book began on a “fairy-wing” and a prayer. With the encouragement of friends and family, I am living my dream as a children’s author. When I'm not chasing dust bunnies, or our two cats, I like to cuddle up with a good book and our son. My family lives in Waukee, Iowa.

There is absolutely nothing to not love in this book. Forget love, there is nothing to absolutely go crazy and adorable in this book. Every single word to every single stroke of that brush is simply amazing and so creative, that I cannot see how this book can go anywhere else than just towards perfection.

The story is about a small little Dust Fairy who feels out of place among his co-Dust Fairies. So to get rid of this boredom and to create a new friend, Artie creates Dust Bunny. Soon the Dust Bunny becomes so famous that we find it everywhere in our homes today. The cutest ever story of the creation of Dust Bunnies and the cutest ever story for children

The book deserves nothing less than 100% marks for simply everything - creativity, innovative story, imagination, artistry, drawing, presentation, everything. Loved it absolutely

I am afraid that I will not be able to capture how much I love this book. It is brilliant, clever and a delight to read aloud. My son and I get taken away in the hilarious, rhyming story and mesmerized by fairy's in all their forms. But, I am beyond in love with Artie. I feel like many children can relate to him and feel deeply connected. Artie struggles to fit in and struggles to get others to understand his special talent. But in due time, he realizes that he needs to do what he loves and then others will also admire his talent. This is a story about accepting yourself first and not changing to suit others. It also is about the fact that everyone has talents and those talents can add to the betterment of others. I cannot wait to read this to the children in my class. They will be enthralled, that is for sure. 5 HUGE stars.

Dust Bunnies: Fairies love them and so will you!

At last, a perfectly logical explanation for dust, lint, cobwebs and crumbs. There are reasons for those messy things and it’s far beyond our control. Fairies bring it, sling it and spread it around. They work as we sleep, without making a sound.

Author Michelle R. Eastman shines a light on the world of fairies and their daily (or rather, nightly) activities in a magical tale in rhyming verse, with the wonderfully crafted illustrations of Kevin Richter.

Children of all ages and parents will enjoy a fun read, as they discover reasons for the perpetual untidiness of our homes (not our fault) and the importance of Dust Bunnies. Fairies love them and so will your Young Readers.

Michelle Eastman's "The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy's Tale" is pure magic in every way. Eastman has left no stone unturned in producing a first-rate, first book.

With simple, catchy rhymes, lively storytelling, and Kevin Richter's vibrant, finely-executed illustrations, Eastman's highly imaginative and original tale reads, looks, and feels like a classic.

This book is so much fun to experience, and has a wonderful twist at the end.

I hope to see more from this author/illustrator team.

Michelle Eastman’s new children’s picture book, The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy’s Tale is a refreshingly lighthearted, sweet, and funny story about a very important and serious topic: Being Yourself. Watch a book preview https://animoto.com/play/2XcG5elgmuLc...
The Legend of Dust Bunnies will open your eyes to a world of dirt and dust that you never knew could be so magical and fun! Did you know that Dust Fairies come into our homes at night and spread dust, spider webs, and even spit crumbs into the carpet? They do! It’s true! Well, not all fairies. Artie is different. He doesn’t like messes, and he doesn’t fit in. At first, Artie is lonely and unsure of what to do, but then he decides that he’s going to take matters into his own hands. When given lemons you're supposed to make lemonade, right? This story does one better, it turns DUST into DUST BUNNIES. The Legend of Dust Bunnies is his delightful story about how and why a misfit Dust Fairy turns dust into (super-cute and cuddly) dust bunnies and the joyful aftermath that follows. It's an ingenious story that will have families looking at dust bunnies in a new light, and may actually give kids an excuse NOT to clean their rooms. It is a great tale about being an individual, turning a tough situation into a good one, being resourceful, and learning to be a part of a group on your own terms-and all this is beautifully done in a fun and lighthearted way. It is easily enjoyed by boys and girls. It is not a run-of-the-mill fairy book. The illustrations give the story a very inclusive feel so that it is appealing to everyone that reads it.

The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy's Tale is an absolutely delightful rhyming picture book that is a favorite for both my toddler and those who read it to him (i.e. Mom & Dad).

First and foremost, the story itself is unique, charming and heartfelt. It is truly a creative story...and I read A LOT of picture books. The rhymes and rhythm are perfect making it a joy to read over and over again. And the vibrant illustrations are gorgeous but I especially liked the creative use of various sizes and layouts throughout the book which created a sort of surprise element as you turn each page and discover just how the illustrations and text will be organized. The variety works very well.

I'd recommend this book for preschoolers and anyone who loves picture books. Looking forward to future books by Michelle R. Eastman.

The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy's Tale by Michelle R. Eastman

Naughty Dust Fairies, visiting the house whilst we sleep, sprinkling dust and holding ‘Crumb Spitting Contests’, no less. Mischievous little things are they not? Here is a little sample of what else they get up to:-

"The daintiest ones
softly land on the drapes,
leaving behind
fancy spider web capes"

and you blamed the spiders. LOL

This starts off as a fun little read however, one little fairy boy, named Artie, is very different and often very lonely. All he really wants is to fit in, and he desperately needs a pal. He feels he is unable to find a friend on his own, so he has an idea, to make one for himself. When he does things really start to change for him.

This is a beautifully illustrated story, bright and colourful with an abundance of wonderful rhythmically flowing words, almost like fairies fluttering across the page. This book is a real pleasure to share with the whole family.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

What a lovely story! We love fairies, we love rhyming stories and we love colourful illustrations. The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy's Tale has it all. Most importantly, my little ones loved it and wanted to hear it again and again. The rhymes flow with ease making it an easy and pleasurable read for adults too. The story is beautifully written sparking the imaginations of children and prompting plenty of questions. I like the cheeky fairy characters with their naughty behaviour and the children loved finding out where dust bunnies come from. The fabulous illustrations of Kevin Richter are bright, amusing and go perfectly with the story. Thank you Michelle - this book gives me the perfect excuse not to dust the house, I'd hate to deprive a fairy of their dust bunny!

I originally bought the Kindle edition but immediately ordered the book. E-books are great for entertaining children with stories on car journeys but this is a book the children will also want to read for themselves.

Eastman has woven a creative and innovative "fairy" tale. She narrates the legend of the dust bunnies. Contrary to popular belief, tiny mischievous fairies spread dust around each night while we sleep and create a dirty mess. They compete to see who can create the biggest mess. According to this legend, one sad little fairy did not fit in with the group. Artie snatched up the dirt and hid it from view. But how and why did 'dust bunnies' get created? Will Artie ever be accepted? How can children apply this legend?

The four line rhymes for each page flow along smoothly and have a nice rhythm. Kevin Richter does a marvelous job with the illustrations which are colorful and expressive. Recommended especially for children in the four to seven age range, although younger children will enjoy the message communicated through the illustrations.

The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy’s Tale by Michelle R. Eastman, illustrated by Kevin Richter – Picture book
My thoughts: This book reminded me of Frederick by Lio Lionni. I appreciated how there were fairies who didn’t appreciate their fellow fairy’s habit of collecting things. Then they learned to appreciate his habit when he creates something legendary. Appreciated the message for children and adults: you don’t have to fit in to be special, do what interests you.

Classroom connection idea: This could be a fun discussion with children with questions like:
What things do you do to help others?
What do you create on your own?
What is another thing Artie could have done with the things he created?
Have you ever noticed someone who doesn’t fit in with others?
Is there anything you can do to help them feel more welcome, be a friend?

Genre: Children’s Picture Book. Ages 4-104
There’s a new legend in town!..and it’s all about the “stuff” that clutters our house, like dust, lint, hair, cobwebs and more. You will be amazed at how it got there.
Michelle Eastman brings us a delightful, rhyming, imaginative tale with bright glorious illustrations by Kevin Richter. Besides a bunch of naughty fairies, it is a tale of not fitting in, as one fairy, Arty, discovers he has to go his own way. He is sand and alone and has no friends. Learn how he handles this and what he creates that impresses all the other fairies. I loved this story. It has humor and a great reason for not cleaning my house. I wondered where all that dog hair came from! This book is a must have in your home as it will be a story Children will delight in having been read again and again.

A really fun rhyming Children's Picture Book. From the very colorful and effective cover (which caught my attention right away), to the story itself, this is a very cute book which children will love. The illustrations are perfect and they superbly enhance the cleverly crafted story.

And Artie, the dust fairy who dances to his own drumbeat, is about as enchanting as a little dust fairy can be. How can you not love a dust fairy with freckles?

Beyond the cuteness and sweetness (and mischievousness) is a very important message: it's okay to follow your passion and do what you like to do. In the end, you may be helping others around you have more fun.

I think the The Legend of Dust Bunnies may be more than a fairy's tale. Maybe it's true! I find dust bunnies everywhere, don't you?

The Legend of the Dust Bunnies, a Fairy's Tale was truly a child's delight. I read, my son read it and we both agree that it will have us thinking of dust bunnies in a new way. I believe The Legend of the Dust Bunnies will become a story to read many times. I truly hope Michelle Eastman continues to write more books and makes this a series for children. It was very enjoyable and the adorable fairies, with bright clothes and happy faces will bring cheer to your little ones and to you. I won this from Goodreads, I am very happy that I did.

Author Michelle Eastman has written a wonderful picture book of fantasy and fairies whilst tying in an important message of helping kids realize that we all have unique gifts and not everyone fits in with the crowd. The book portrays the characters well and exhibits great imagination by turning everyday things into something magical.

The illustrations are incredibly detailed and vibrant. They bring the book to life and it is certainly a wonderful marriage between words and art. Highly recommended and easily enjoyed by all!

Children who like fairies will truly enjoy this book about the dust bunny legend. Most fairies like to participate in fairy activities, except for one fairy who has other ideas. In the end, what he makes becomes a favorite must have of all the fairies. However if you want your child to keep their room clean, this story will encourage them not to do so! A rhyming book which is comical and cozy!

The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a fairy tale was the first book I received this week. The pictures are charming and delightful. But the story is what truly makes this book great. Did you ever wonder where the Dust Bunnies come from? Well, read this wonderful story and you will soon see. The cadence of this book makes it quite easy to read aloud. And the illustrations make it a complete picture book. I highly recommend this one for all your young ones. Five out of five stars

I read this book before giving it to my grand daughter for Christmas and it really was a cute book. She can't read yet but once you read her a story she remembers it and also adds her own words to it and I know she'll love this story.
