With more than a decade of experience, Mike Catt is one of England's longest-serving rugby players. His longevity is due largely to his status as one of the best thinkers in the game, a quality which has earned him universal respect. Catt was a key member of the 2003 international champion team, and has played in three separate World Cups. For all his successes, however he has been dropped and by England more times than he can remember during the course of a 67-cap career, and has been booed by fans in the UK and abroad. From his origins in South Africa to his current fame at London Irish, this is the story of one man’s amazing life and his journey through the game rugby.

Earlier in the year I bumped into a lady with a beautiful dog, being dog mad I had to talk to the lady, I told her that I would look after the dog if the need ever arose, I had no idea who she was, and later during a meeting she said she was called "Ali Catt", although I love watching Rugby it did not register, I later learned that her husband was assistant coach to the Italian team, this was the beginning of an introduction a beautiful family, the head of which wrote this book, of which I was given a beautiful autographed copy for Christmas.

The book is the best book I have ever read, made more special by the personal message that this man took time to write for me, I thought the whole family was amazing and then I read the book, he is indeed a legend, down to earth, and the loveliest man you could ever met. He has quietly got on with his life and every thing that would have brought someone else down he has taken it all in his stride.

My life has become so much happier because of this man, and his family.

Please read this book, if only just to see that when the men run on the pitch, you have no idea what they have gone through to get there

A genuine unsung hero on the pitch and seemingly the same off it. Some genuinely inciteful career moments and how he luckily ended up playing in England. Some tell their story with poetic licence, this guy will tell you what he sees in the mirror.

Not a literary masterpiece, but enjoyable nontheless. I just like the way Mike Catt plays rugby and wish he had never left Bath.
