Beauford Bend #1

Forgiving Jackson

Rate this book
Coming home to Beauford Bend opens up old wounds for four sexy, successful brothers, but the love of a few good Southern women will heal their hearts and change their lives forever.

Country music heartthrob Jackson Beauford isn’t used to hearing “no” for an answer. When a tragic fire at one of his concerts stirs memories of the blaze that claimed his family years ago, all he wants is to go back to his childhood home in Tennessee and wallow in his grief. But he arrives home to chaos … and a Southern magnolia with her heels dug in.

After suffering a vicious attack in New York City, Emory Lowell returned to Beauford Bend, a place she’s loved since she was a teenager. Now in charge of Around the Bend Elegant Events, she’s not about to let a spoiled superstar take away her livelihood. The boutique artisan town of Beauford depends on this business, and so does she. With its high walls and around-the- clock security, Beauford Bend is the only place she’s ever truly felt safe.

Jackson insists she close down his late aunt's business and leave him in peace, but quiet Emory refuses to budge, knowing this is a battle worth fighting. As a passionate attraction flares between these two wounded souls, they discover there’s much more at stake here than business. Jackson may be just the person to help Emory face her past, and if she can help him learn to forgive himself, their love might be the key to turning Beauford Bend back into a real home.

As Alicia Hunter Pace, Stephanie Jones and Jean Hovey write contemporary romantic comedy and light fantasy with a distinct southern voice.

Stephanie lives in Jasper, AL, where she teaches third grade and wishes for a bigger bookstore. She is a native Alabamian who likes football, civil war history, and people who follow the rules. She is happy to provide a list of said rules to anyone who needs them.

Jean, a former public librarian, lives in Decatur, AL, with her husband in a hundred-year-old house that always wants something from her. She likes to cook but has discovered the joy of Mrs. Paul's fish fillets since becoming a writer.

Nice contemporary romance. Well written well plotted with reasonable motivations for everyone. Lots of brothers so there will be more stories. Jackson is a rock star who is suffering from PTSD after a fire at one of his concerts killed half his band. The heroine is a rape survivor who is afraid to leave his estate where she works. I found both situations were dealt with in a believable manner. The relationship between them was believable and well written.

This novel was intensely emotional and exceptionally entertaining. It`s not very often that a novel can make you laugh & cry in quick succession. Pace builds the world of Beauford Bend slowly and with feeling. She paints a brilliant yet elegant picture that you can`t help but imagine. This is the backdrop for this intriguing story that is about so much more than simply romance, but don`t worry, that`s there in spades as well.

The larger than life cast of this story really brings the story home. You can`t help but love them. You also feel for them. Both of the main characters have gone through hell and come back stronger than they were before. Watching them struggle against what they believe they`ve done, to try to stand on their own but to come together anyways was absolutely breathtaking.

Overall, this was an emotional and heartfelt story that kept my attention throughout. I wouldn`t hesitate to recommend it to others.

This was a really good book. It dealt with some heavy subject matter that could be triggers for some people but I loved how Jackson and Emory were there for each other and did everything to help each other heal.

This story was full of passion from the very beginning. I didn’t want to finish the book because I didn’t want it to end! Emory and Jackson’s story is one that brings a smile to my face each time I think about it.

Emory…in her personal life she is shy and reserved, but in her professional life, well…that woman is full of spunk. She knows her stuff and isn’t afraid to put her foot down, something Jackson isn’t used to.

Jackson…he was just as hot as the southern air that filled this book. From his looks to his heart, Jackson will have you melting in every chapter. With heartache and an unfortunate past, Jackson truly is a strong man who after everything, still continues to put Emory’s needs before his own.

The way these two helped each other was beautiful. They wanted nothing but the best for the other and they followed their hearts the entire way. Pressure from no one was going to keep these two apart. They have this connection that is often hard to make a read feel. Not in this book. You feel it from the moment Jackson shows up and Emory tries to brush him off.

A well written and easy read filled with spectacular descriptions. I’ve never been to the south but I want to visit someday. This book is making that someday look a lot closer. Everything is picture perfect detailed.

I look forward to reading more of the Beauford Men! Thank you Alicia Hunter Pace for this endearing story!

This was an all-around great contemporary romance. Pace does an excellent job of building characters that you care about and want to root for. Both Jackson and Emory have emotional baggage to deal with, both trying to get over devastating past events and figure out how to move forward and achieve the lives they've dreamed of. And both of them are portrayed as really strong personalities that also have an amazing tender side when dealing with the other's vulnerabilities. In addition to Jackson and Emory, we meet several other characters that live in or near Beauford Bend, and meet or hear of Jackson's brothers, that I truly look forward to getting to know better in future books of this series. I had read #4, Rafe's story, almost a year ago and I don't know why I waited so long to come back and start at #1. I know I won't wait another year to get to #2 & 3!

Emory returns to the one place that she feels safe after a 'date' that went so wrong. Now she is in charge of the local Beauford manor as an events planner after the owner dies. She, Amelia, left her home to her boys. Jackson comes home several months later to find out that even though he told Emory to close the business, things were going on as before his aunt's death.
Both he and Emory have dark pasts that keep them from forming attachments with others. They will learn what. Is in the past has holds that will hurt unless given the light of day to chase away those demons. Loved this book by Alice Hunter Pace, two women who work together for the good of the story line. Can't wait to read the second book.

Such a sweet love story!

This book is Forgiving Jackson by Alicia Hunter Pace, the first in The Brothers of Beauford Bend series. I loved every minute of this book. Jackson Beauford returns to his family home and decides to shut down the thriving business that is being run from there, upsetting the world of Emory. Jackson and Emory both have plenty of "baggage" from their lives and they attempt to heal each other before they work on theirselves. It's a sweet tale of struggle, denial, self discovery and so much more! I loved this book and am rushing forward to read the next book in the series! Give it a try!! You will LOVE IT TOO!!

Love this author's writing style and will definitely be reading more of her work.
Emory and Jackson have tragic pasts but the strengths they learned from Miss Amelia brought them to the place where they could find each other and finally heal. It was a beautiful love story with all the manners and grace of the South. A brilliant read
