I know exactly what I want in life—and it’s not a guy like Roman Powell.
He’s rigid. Rule-following. Uptight. Basically allergic to fun. So, not my type.
But when he’s on the cover of Business Success magazine as one of the nation’s Top 10 Young (and Single) CEOs, my two million subscribers want me to film a peek into his world. I can survive an interview with Mr. Serious for the sake of great content. Easy.
Except…nothing about the interview goes according to plan.
We’re talking about an angry deer, an exploding pickleball, a blanket fort that does not survive the night, and a dinner ambushed by my exes. Oh, and let’s not forget the growing pile of memes from viewers who are suddenly obsessed with us as an “opposites attract” love story.
But this isn’t a romcom. It’s real life. And in real life, I’m not going to fall for the wrong guy.
Right?
If you’re into witty banter, chaos, and heaps of chemistry with a big heart, you’ll love How to Not Fall for the Wrong Guy.
Meg Easton is the USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romances and romantic comedies with fun, memorable, swoon-worthy characters, and settings you’ll want to pack up and move to. She lives at the foot of a mountain with her name on it (or at least one letter of her name) in Utah. She loves gardening, bike riding, baking, swimming before the sun rises, and spending time with her husband and three kids.
I really enjoyed this one, I loved the fact that our heroine, Bex, is a popular YouTuber. It was fun to get a behind-the-scenes look into what it would be like to have that profession. My kids are obsessed with YouTube, so maybe that's why I liked it used here so much. Bex was a likable heroine, spunky and very extroverted. Loves people and can read them well. I wish her YouTube channel was real, because I would totally watch! Roman is an up-and-coming CEO, trying to make a name for himself in the business world. He wants nothing more than to be taken seriously by his peers and especially his father. He doesn't consider what Bex does as real "business" and is upset when he's presented with the opportunity to go on her show to bring awareness to an new App he has coming out.
I liked Bex and Roman a lot, I thought they had fun chemistry. I liked that Bex was able to see past Roman's serious side and see the fun, kind guy underneath. I thought this was a well written story, kept me engaged throughout and wanting to see what would happen next. Hard to put down! I am really enjoying this series!

In today's world, who doesn't dream of being a YouTube sensation? Bex's vivid personality has landed her smack in the middle of fame and fortune and I love her gregarious and classy personality. Sometimes I wish I was more like that... Roman is her direct opposite, yet they share a passion for what they do and I love how that connects them--in multiple ways.
Catching glimpses of the inn-mates was an added bonus and I adore the friendship these girls share, but my heart and full attention was captured by the four interviews (and resulting relationship) between Bex and Roman, with the ignitable, swoony chemistry that oozed off the pages. I just couldn't get enough and I melted faster than a Popsicle on the 4th of July.
I loved the way this relationship progressed, both in public and in private, with these solid characters and charming small town. The plot is relevant and fun, and I'm impatiently waiting for more from this adorable series.

After the bad start they got off to at the end of the last one, I was curious to see how Bex and Roman's story was going to play out. I'm not always a fan of complete-opposites romances, but from the first chapter we spent in his perspective, it was obvious that there was a lot more to Roman than his straight-laced exterior--parts of himself that he kept carefully under wraps and insecurities that kept him from letting them come to light. Watching Bex work to bring out who he truly was was a fascinating experience, as was watching the interplay between two strong but not really incompatible people. And the reason Bex had for being wary of a relationship with Roman specifically made sense and didn't feel contrived--although it did kind of waver in and out of focus at times.
I enjoyed seeing the rest of the roommates again as well, and the sneak peeks into Payton's story coming up. :) It did feel a little odd to have Ian added to the "roommates" list, but since the house is really an old inn, it feels a little more comparable to an apartment building with some combined living space than bedrooms in a regular house. Or something. Anyway, it doesn't really bother me to have a married couple living there. *shrugs* Also, I enjoyed how Bex's YouTuber career and Roman's app-development business felt realistic and modern while being smoothly integrated into the plot, not tacked on in a "hey, let's throw in that YouTube thing the kids are doing now" way. (Don't tell me you don't know what I mean...) :D Although as interesting as Roman's apps were, as a privacy-conscious individual, I would be shying far, far away. Except maybe from the reading one--although I really can't listen to music while I read, so there's that. Sorry, Roman. XP
As in the last one, there was quite a bit of focus on the physical--noticing, touching, tingling, kissing and almost kissing--but things didn't get overly detailed, which was a plus for me. And there was definitely more to their relationship than the physical attraction; I just prefer it when the physical attraction isn't quite as much of a focus. But I appreciated that there was more that made them good for each other than just that aspect.
Interested for Payton and Max's story, coming up next... 3.5 stars
Content--mentions of noticing, touching, etc.; some kissing (not overly detailed); mentions of a divorce and remarriage
Bex and Roman were two fun characters and it was a happy journey watching them come together and fall in love. Sweet romance, kissing only. Very cute! Second book in this series but can stand alone.
The humor is rich and peppered throughout this fun contemporary romance. The clear and quick dislike between Bex and Roman is palpable, and their attraction is genuine.
When your heart and mind are in conflict with each other, what do you do? Continue to do research and see which one is correct? Bex, I think that's what you should do. Don't let Roman get away! Hold on tight girl!
Y'all, this was such an adorable read. After reading the first book in this 'How to Not Fall' series, Bex was a hoot with her sisters and nieces and nephews. I was pretty excited to see how her story would pan out. And I loved it! She's a YouTuber and has a great following but she's in the running for a big award that could bring so many followers. I love her reasons behind why she does what she does. Why she wants to create videos and do interviews and just show life. She's a character that was pretty easy to connect with. Her love and zest for life and her easy going nature (even with being a take charge and lead kinda gal) had me cheering her on in all her adventures.
Roman was a complex leading man. Throughout the book, the reader sees the conflict he has as he's trying to please multiple people as well as stay true to himself. There were moments I wanted to be frustrated with him, but I couldn't quite bring myself to doing so because I saw more to him than Bex and others around him could. That understanding had me connecting with him and cheering him on just as much as I was cheering Bex on!
These two were just stinking cute together! Maybe I should say, Cuteness Alert! I loved the interviews and watching them relax and just be themselves...their best selves. And boy, oh boy, were those interview hysterical in some moments. And the memes afterwards. Ha! Meg Easton you had me giggling reading what you made up with them. Poor Roman though...I'll let you read it and figure out why I'm saying that.
The group of ladies who are the leading ladies of this series are just so much fun. And I am doubly excited for Payton's story next. It's a best friends story. I love that trope a lot! With the little glimpses I've read of them throughout this book, I can happily say that Payton's book is gonna be gooooooood!!!!
You can read this as a stand alone if you prefer. But I really like these roomies and think reading the first book gives you a great understanding of them all. So I would recommend reading them in order. But I'm also someone who loves sequential things.
One last thought...I loved the different settings the author used throughout the book. I was familiar with many of them having lived close by there for many years. I could easily picture where they were at and I love when that happens while I'm reading a book. Super fun!
Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I really loved this book. For me, this book was fun, romantic, and difficult to put down! Bex and Roman are well-developed characters. They are different from each other, but both very likeable and relatable. Their experiences are realistic from stepping out of their comfort zones and trying new things (dare I say they were nudged out of their comfort zones?) to Roman learning to stand up for himself and to be himself, to Bex learning that just because something works for someone else doesn't mean it will work for her. I found myself rooting for them very early on. Now that I've finished the book, I find myself craving peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I'm going to go look up a recipe now. Loved the story! Love that it was clean. Would recommend it to anyone. Glad I got to read it!
So first of all, I'm adoring this whole series so far. How to Not Fall for the Guy Next Door was also really good. Theoretically, you could read these as standalones, but I like reading a series in order and you won't be disappointed here. The series is following a group of roommates so you'll see characters across different books.
Bex and Roman seem like such opposites yet so similar at the same time. Bex is a YouTuber with tons of followers and Roman is a CEO of his own company. One appears at first way more relaxed than the other, but both are driven. I loved watching Bex's influence on Roman to bring out his more fun loving side. Roman also learns to stand up more for himself and not listen so much to his overbearing father.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review.
Oh my stars this book was just too cute. I loved it so much. Made me laugh, made me cry. I definitely need to hunt down the others in this adorable, heart warming series.
Romance, clean, contemporary; series but stand alone read Cute light, clean romance. Bex and Roman's story was a nice addition to this series. Sweet attraction, funny scenes, introspective moments, and a lovely HEA.
I love this series! I read ebook version of the series a few years ago but am listening to the updated versions on audio and loving it so much. The switch from 3rd person to 1st makes a huge difference to my experience when reading a book and Meg Easton did a wonderful job. The characters are real, flawed, and have growth. Bex and Roman were great together. The narrator did a great job as well portraying their emotions.
So this series follows four roommates - Addison, Bex, Payton and Timini. Addison is a space organizer, Bex is a Youtuber, Payton is a personal chef and Timini is costume designer. When Addison inherits an inn from her aunt, she decides to move across the States and live there. Since it's too big for only one person and she doesn't want to run it as an inn, she decides to find other women to live with her. And on a conference for creative people she finds this incredible bunch of kind and lovely women. I read the series in order and though probably you could read the books as a stand alone, I definitely recommend to follow the stories as they develop. I would say Bex's story was my favorite, then Timini's, then Payton's and lastly Addison's. Great stories and very well told. This is the second in the series, Book 2. It's not exactly a hate to love story, but Bex and Roman definitely start it off at the wrong foot. Youtuber Bex is a confident, strong, and at the same time kind and loyal woman who is convinced the right guy for her is a mellow, yelding nice man. That's why when she meets Roman who is a confident, successful CEO she is pretty sure he is definitely not Mr. Right. Roman wants more than anything to make his powerful and successful father proud. And embarassing himself in front of a Youtube community is not his idea of doing that. But circumstances lead to Roman agreeing to be interviewed four times for Bex' Youtube channel. And when they get to know each other, the attraction between them grows even more... I loved them 😍. I loved how honest and genuine they were. Roman was a jerk at one point but more than made up for it and redeemed himself pretty awesomely. They were such a cute couple and as always I really liked that Meg Easton's characters talked about their feelings and problems and there were not stupid misunderstandings. Naration: 3rd person following Bex and Roman Religion: none Sensuality: clean, only kissing
Living with her other roommates, Bex runs a YouTube channel about her life, hacks, and just general craziness that happens in her day to day. She is getting ready for the Eddie Awards, she needs something AMAZING for her episodes during the judging period. She leaves it up to her viewers to decide who she is going to interview for it. Which is all fine and dandy, that is until her viewers choose someone she least expects.
The first book in this series, How To Not Fall For The Guy Next Door, got me hooked on this series and I just knew I had to read more. I was really excited to get a copy of How To Not Fall For The Wrong Guy, it was wonderful! I zipped through this story so quickly, and lucky for me, we had a storm last night, so I stayed up late reading it and enjoying the rain. The characters in this one were written so well by author Meg Easton, but what really impressed me is the creativity she put into it not just with the characters and storyline but also the businesses run by Bex and Roman. She went into amazing detail of Bex's YouTube channel that got me wishing I could subscribe to it right now. Same goes for Roman, she told so much about his apps that I was wishing I had them on my phone while reading this book and going throughout my week.
If you enjoyed the first book in this series, you have to read this one. I can't wait to read the next two books in this series to see what happens with Peyton and Timini. There is so much exciting, laugh out loud humor, and sweet romance that you can't help but fall in love with the How To Not Fall series.
What a fun story this is! Bex (love that name!) is driven, passionate and dedicated to her business, her family and her friends but she's also a really fun person who thinks out of the box! That's why her YouTube presence is so phenomenal and has 2 million followers! People love her! I fell in love with her from the beginning! Roman, however, does not like that kind of woman! He is a CEO of an App business and he's met Bex before when they were in a wedding together. He's not impressed. He's everything opposite of Bex! When Bex's YouTube audience picks Roman as the #1 person they want her to interview, he can't believe and he declines - until his co-worker says he must do it to help sales of their new app. Watching the two of them at the beginning is like oil and water! However, I loved the changes in both of them and the creativity of Bex in bringing Roman out of his uptightness! This story is a delight!
Amazing! I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down until I finished and I already want to go back and read it again. Bex and Roman were such fabulous characters and I loved the dynamic in their relationship. The two thought they couldn't be more wrong for each other, but the attraction and connection just flew off the pages and I loved every minute I was reading this book. I felt like their family situations and the way the author reveals insights into what makes each character tick really gave this book a lot of great character depth. I also enjoyed how the author shined a light on social media businesses; I felt like I learned some nuggets of gold all while enjoying being wrapped up in an adorable romance. The content is clean, but super swoony all the same. The humor was fantastic. I honestly am on the edge of my seat awaiting the next book in this series. Definitely a rom-com I highly recommend!
Roman was uptight and determined to present an image that his father would approve while Bex was free spirited, full of life, and giving. I learned a lot about how much work goes into putting together an regular online YouTube reality show and like Roman before I read the book I would have thought it was just a silly show. Yes, Bex has plenty of fun and jokes around but she also talks about things her viewers experience too and let them see her vulnerable side. I liked the creative ways she came up with to deal with difficult things. Roman was a jerk at times in the book and like Bex I would have been mad that he was embarrassed to be seen with her and thought her little show wasn't important. But he shows his vulnerable, funny, and loving side too. I liked the apps his company created and would love to be nudged to do something slightly out of my comfort zone. I laughed about the deer and the bird incidents. This was a sweet opposites attract romance.
Such a fun romantic comedy! I was hooked from the first chapter and could not put it down. Bex and Roman have seemingly opposite personalities but when all but forced to work together, they discover they have more in common than they think, including a growing attraction to each other.
I love the duel point of view - it makes romances so much better when you know what each person is thinking. I really like how the author always gives us glimpses of why each character acts like they do - backstories make character development even more meaningful.
I loved the chemistry and swoon worthy moments between Bex and Roman as well as getting to see a little more of Addison and Ian from the previous book in the series. I wish I could live in the inn and be friends with all of them! Can't wait for Peyton's story next.
I received a complimentary copy from the author but my opinion is my own.
I’m loving reading this series! I read How to Not Fall for the Guy Next Door in the spring. I’m trying to catch up on the two books in the middle of the series that I haven’t read yet. And they’re so good!
Bex was a character in the first book that I was dying to read more about. She does not disappoint! I loved her strong will and the way she always goes after what she wants. I really liked the way she figured out just what kind of guy she thinks fits her personality. And that type of guy is not Roman Powell.
Roman…I liked him. But he cared way too much about what everyone else thought. I liked how he kind of grew out of that though. The apps his company makes sounded amazing. It left me wishing there really were apps like that.
I loved the way these two characters were together. They made me laugh. And they made each other laugh. That’s pretty important in a relationship. Something they both realize, a bit too late.
I loved this story. Bex and Roman seemed to be such opposites. Bex is bubbly and outgoing and isn’t afraid to be vulnerable for the viewers of her You Tube channel. Roman is guarded and buttoned up, afraid to let his hair down – afraid of what his father or other businessmen will think of him in spite of the success he’s earned so far. Bex helps Roman open up and let his real personality out, but things go wrong when he faces his father’s disapproval. Roman has to learn to become the Roman that he wants to be. His time with Bex has given him the tools to really take a good look at himself and decide which Roman he really does want to be. The ending brought tears to my eyes and I was really happy for both of them. This was a very sweet story. I was given an ARC copy by the author, but this review is my honest opinion.
ex Sterling is YouTube infuencer who is not afraid of anything- except ending up along or with a class A jerk. Roman Powell on the other hand is afraid of being seen as anything less than professional... especially by his father. These two strong personalities come together for a promotional interview to boost both of their companies and sparks fly. The problem lies in their differences.
Meg Easton writes a great sequel to How to Not Fall for the Guy Next Door with sneak peeks at old characters and great introductions to new characters. She plays Bex and Roman off of each other in fun and unique ways that match their professions well. Set in the beautiful area near Portland, OR, Meg Easton has written a fun, light-hearted romance where two people work past their fears and insecurities to find a love meant just for them.
How do two very strong personalities who don't see eye to eye from two very different businesses work together? With a lot of interesting situations you'll be waiting to see how they both react. I enjoyed watching the growth of the characters and really enjoyed Bex and Roman. I loved all the wildlife in the story too! This book was so hard to put down. I may have stayed up way too late to finish. I love the interaction with the roommates. They are so fun and I can't wait to read all of their stories! I recommend reading them in order because of spoilers but it's not necessary to understand the story. I really enjoy Meg Easton's books, she's great at portraying characters and emotions. If you enjoy a good clean romcom this book is for you
How Not to Fall for the Wrong Guy is the second book in the How Not to Fall series. I recommend reading them in order to avoid small spoilers.
Another cute story, and I am hoping that Adrienne Fleming does the narration for the whole series. After listening to both books by her, I can honestly say I enjoy her narration.
Read for:
⭐more of the roommates
⭐charging deer
⭐borrowing Ian's grandma (+ her friends)
⭐Unique job as a YouTuber
⭐Business owners
⭐overcoming fears
⭐the scene with the exes!
I enjoyed the book for the most part, but Roman was a jerk, and it made me mad! It is hard not to have preconceived ideas about people's business ventures, but you should never make assumptions or say what he said. However, he did redeem himself, but I still had to rant about it 😂.
This is the 2nd book in this series and I loved it so much that I read it in a half day! This is Bex and Roman’s story! Bex was a YouTuber and Roman was a CEO of an app company! They had met at Allison and Ian’s wedding earlier. Both from very different backgrounds. Bex was always willing to take chances and poor Roman couldn’t live up to his father’s expectations! I loved this book until Roman was rude to Bex at her big event. Then I got really mad when Roman’s dad said he needed someone that would make the family name proud? But Meg has a way of writing a novel to where you have to read just one more chapters and then you just can’t stop! Such a sweet and loving read. I received as an ARC for an honest review!
Wow! Loved Bex and Roman's story!! To get the full effect, you really need to read How Not To Fall for the Guy Nextdoor, but you could read this as a standalone. Bex is big on her youtube channel, with TONS of viewers/followers. Roman has no clue, but needs to reach his target audience for his new app to take off. Reluctantly, he agrees to four interviews with Bex. Bex has it in her head exactly what type of guy she doesn't need/want, but never dates the same guy more than a few times. Until Roman. Roman has to change to become the man Bex needs him to be, but also so that he can be the "real" Roman. Love this story, and the changes he makes!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
4 1/2 stars Love this series of Meg Easton and can not wait for the last one due to be available 11/30/2020. Everyone is an individual and therefore can be full of surprises.
Also, people can change and grow! Meg's book let's us know that even with a controlling and overbearing parents we are our own individual and need to know when to step out of their shadow and find what is uniquright for ourselves. In a lighthearted and truly entertaining way! So excited for this couple because once a couple is determined to fight for their relationship it will last as long as they both work at it. ( any couple) Though if Bex and Roman where real, I'd be interested in becoming a Bexlandian. ;)
This book features take-charge Bex and Type-A Roman who clash at a wedding for friends, but then both need each other in business. Bex runs a Youtube channel with millions of followers and Roman runs an app company and needs to be interviewed by her to reach a new audience. But with his family against the normal “business” deals, he knows Bex and her silly Youtube business won’t cut it. What’s a guy to do? And can Bex trust Roman, who seems to see-saw back and forth with her, one minute sweet and tender, and then the next cold and stand-offish. Who is the real man? This is a cute story and I adored the ending, but the first part of the book dragged at times. That could just be me. I don't know. Overall, a solid read.
This provides all the warm unexpected feelings of new love interest, the emotional frustration as they fumble to work on things and the sweet as peach cobbler happy ending. This couple is very well matched, challenge and support one another to put their best foot forward. She has a great group of supportive family and friends. Once I started reading, I was instantly hooked and couldn't stop but reading this fun, feel good, clean romance was well worth the late night. Absolutely love it and already read it twice.
I was provided a free advance copy without obligation and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I received an ARC to review: this 2nd book in the "How Not to Fall" series was as delightful as the first! It is based on the same quirky group of friends at the Inn, but focuses on Bex and Roman's story. Meg delivers a modern story, with creativity in the apps Roman's company pilots and the social media platform of Bex's business - and presents it cleverly and elegantly. Roman and Bex's story is sweet n juicy and oh-so-yummy to read! A definite MUST READ for readers who enjoy a clean, solid love story, with no holds barred on the good, the bad and the ugly of relationships (but mostly the good and sweet!) and infused with a dollop of humour for good measure!
