DNF at 35%
I just couldn't bring myself to care about David - who seemed determined to have Jade, his best-friend's widow and his good friend, and convince her that she wanted him...and I kept feeling like it was a 'no matter what Jade thinks' sort of thing. Do not like.
Then there's Jade. Yes, she lost her husband. And that's about all I can say about her. She has no personality. She apparently owns a business, but I have no idea what it is. Though admittedly I was skimming quite a bit.
Not to mention the side story about Jade's sister (Maya) and her husband (Colin). Colin apparently is being an asshole to his wife because he doesn't want to worry her pretty little head about the layoffs happening at his job. So, not only doesn't she know about his job worries, but she thinks that he's not interested in her anymore either. Fuck off, asshole. Who has time for that shit. But apparently one night of sex and a lame-ass apology (in which he doesn't tell her WHY he was being a dickhead) makes it all okay.
Then there's the sexy-times. When you start skimming sex in an erotica....things aren't going too well.
I generally try to give every book I read 30% of the book to hook me (some I don't make it that far), but this book was just boring, the characters were boring, and the sex was boring.

Jade is a young widow & Her husband was a US Marshal that died in the line of duty. David is Jades best friend who also happened to be her husbands bff. David has loved Jade for years (even while she was married to his bff). After 2 years of being alone Jade is ready to date & be with a man again. David realizes now that she's ready, now is his time to make a move. Once he makes it known to Jade what his intentions are, she freaks but only after they make out. It's not only till Jade's life is in danger that she realizes that David is the one for her.
This was very short, quick book that only took me a couple of hours to read. I couldn't decide between 1 or 2 stars so I settled on the 2. I found this book to be boring. Even with the so called drama & excitement, it was still boring. I couldn't connect with the characters & I found myself not caring about them one way or another. Males love to crave what they can't have and I call this the FORBIDDEN FRUIT SYNDROME! This is one of those fabulous tales!
Jade Hadley is a young widow who has her own successful clothing store, a meddling sister and mom, troublemaking twin nephews and her fantastic and stable best friend, David, her deceased hubby's partner. What Jade really needs is some steamy, uncomplicated and hard sex. She misses having a man on or under her and the close physical connection. Jade decides to start dating, with the help of her meddling family, and find the man who can break her celibate life.
David McIntyre is an ex military, ex US Marshall and now he has a very successful security firm and travels a lot because he is a trouble person. David has loved his BF's wife, Jade, since the day he meet her. While Jade and Aidan were married, he kept his distance, screwed random females and kept his obsession with Jade to himself. Now he is in the hated "Friend Zone" and is waiting for Jade to be ready for a new relationship and then she is HIS!
When David returns from any business trip, he goes to Jade's home to catch up and to feed his cravings for her, and is shocked when she says she has a DATE, in a few hours. He is crushed, but Jade asks him to do his laundry and wait for her to get back and they can chat. Jade first date was terrible and when she opens her front door there is David, in just jeans! She wants and desires to touch or maybe kiss his amazing, yummy and sexy chest! David knows she is now ready for him because she becomes so aroused, by his chest, so he invites her for dinner and she agrees. After the Super Bowl, David wakes her up with toe curling kisses, sensual caresses and an earth shattering orgasm! David tries for more, but she freaks out and flees.
At her store, a mysterious and scared woman comes in for a scarf and sunglasses. When she asks Jade for a trade, her amazing ring for the merchandise, Jade agrees and then crap hits the fan! Now Jade's world is falling apart, with her desires for David on overdrive and with the odd DEA agent asking questions about the woman. Jade thinks the agent is lying and kinda scary, so she lies about having the ring. Jade is almost ran over by a speed truck and David comes to care for her and hears the whole agent/ring story. David must not only protect her, but comes clean about his feeling for her. They begin a sexual journey together while an unseen nemesis stalks her, attempts made to kidnap her, someone trashes her home and now her life is endangered. Can Jade let David's love into her heart? Will David be able to safeguard the only woman is has always loved? Will her deceased hubby stand between them? Is it love or the dangerous situation? How will Jade's meddling sister scheme to bring David and Jade together?
This was my first Savannah Stuart romance book and she knows how to write steamy, electrifying and "make my toes curl" scenes. The desire that are unleashed between Jade and David almost fired my kindle, twice. Jade was a character that I could relate to because of loss and death. Jade grieved so naturally, but fought to hard to keep her hubby's love unchanged and move on. David had the hero problem that I enjoy almost as much as a bad boy, what I love to call THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT SYNDROME! The syndrome is wanting and craving the BF's little sister or loved female friend, that he must NEVER touch! David handled and respected his BF's relationship and love his wife amazingly, in my humble opinion. David was supportive of Jade's grieve, but almost waited to long. Ms. Stuart even threw in kidnapping, bullets, a corrupt agent and unseen danger. This adrenaline thrill ride helped this couple to have must needed time alone together and the awesomely fabulous sex that Jade so needed! I am a diehard fan of reading a book and hopefully leaping into that author's creative world! Ms. Stuart does this with remarkable easy and her many world will now be added my TBR list! She receives a score of 4 fingers up and 8 toes for this adventurous tale.

Tempting Target by Savannah Stuart is a stand-alone romantic suspense-lite story mixed with a little erotica. This was my first book by Savannah Stuart and I was excited to have the opportunity to read and review this title.
The heroine, Jade Hadley, mourned the death of her husband for several years. Waiting in the background is her husband’s best friend, security expert David McIntyre. When Jade finally makes the decision to start dating again, David has his chance to finally get the woman he’s secretly been in love with for years. Unfortunately, Jade finds herself the victim of a dangerous stalker and David must keep her safe while making her fall for him…
So I admit, I’m a complete sucker for a damsel in distress storyline especially when it’s coupled with a sexy, capable hero. This book had both! The writing was solid and the heat level was steamy. David had some alpha tendencies I could really appreciate!
Hearing his name on her lips did something to him. It was so primal it scared the shit out of him. He wanted to claim her. Mark her somehow. Make it so that any man knew she was his. And instead of his tongue, he wanted to sink his cock into her. Wanted to feel her tight sheath clench around him as she raked her fingers down his back.
As a big fan of romantic suspense books and a self-proclaimed guilty pleasure junkie, I enjoyed Tempting Target. There wasn't a lot of development in the story, it lacked "meat", but for a quick read with a protective, hot alpha and some steam, this is worth a look. I'd definitely read this author again and recommend this book to readers that enjoy steamy romantic suspense story lines. Overall a 3.5 RATING.

This riveting contemporary romance gets the adrenaline pumping when widow, Jade Hadley is finally ready for a second chance at happiness and she tells her sister she needs some “excitement and red hot sex” in her life. Security expert David McIntyre has been in love with Jade since he met her so when he discovers she’s ready to date again he sets out to seduce her into a HEA with him, but before they can get things worked out, excitement comes calling as well and Jade’s life is threatened.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with action, suspense, drama and red hot passion. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated intrigue and drama draws the reader deeper into the story. Spine tingling anticipation builds throughout the story during the budding romance and from the increasing danger to Jade. And the strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.
The attraction between Jade and David is strong enough to burn up the pages and the sex scenes are scorching hot, but the relationship has some obstacles to overcome. The reader can certainly empathize with Jade as she is unsure what to think about dating David since he’s her best friend and her rock which cause some drama during some intense moments. David stays strong, but when her life is threatened all bets are off.
I was completely caught up in this story from the beginning and couldn’t put it down until I read the very last word. Tempting Target was a quick morning read. It was pretty average reading for the most part, not bad but not great either. I do enjoy friend to lover stories but this was just missing something. Not sure what.
There's a little action, there's a little more steamy sex and there is a lot of feeling. While we know what David is after from the get go I think the way Jade's character progressed was close to reality. Being a young window cannot be easy and I found her inner turmoil realistic and frustrating, though when trying to place myself in her shoes I'm a bit more understanding about where her heart is.

Ok, there are a few moments where the police procedural part of the suspense plot is a little unrealistic, but if you can ignore that, Tempting Target is a hot, enjoyable read. Savannah Stuart's characters are well written, and the romance develops at a realistic pace in the story context. I am recommending Tempting Target to those who enjoy a little suspense and danger with their erotic romance.

This was an enjoyable short read from Savannah Stuart. The plot is one we've seen before where the husband's best friend is in love with the wife but is afraid to make a move after the death of the best friend. However, I still found the book to be enjoyable. My only complaint was that I thought things wrapped up too quickly at the end. There was a suspenseful build up to a dangerous situation and then book is over almost immediately. I would have liked just a bit more of the two as a couple before the book ended. Perhaps even mention of the other sub-plots that were in the book.

I loved Jade and David’s story. Certainly laughed at the twins, they are certainly boisterous. Lots of action in this book and I certainly wanted to shake Jade a few times too.

The storyline follows a friends to lovers trope as the widowed Jade Hadley is ready to enter back into the world of dating. Her late husband’s best friend David McIntyre has been in love with Jade since the first time they met but has been waiting for the right time to let his feelings known. When Jade is targeted for attack, not once but twice, but someone looking for a specific item, David becomes her protector and lover, over night.
The relationship between our couple is one of friendship but grows into something more. They have both ‘thought’ about what it would be like with one another, but David has held back allowing Jade appropriate time to mourn. But after a disastrous blind date, Jade knows that perhaps that man for her is her best friend David. The sex scenes are intimate and hot.
The secondary characters include Jade’s extended family and co-workers, David’s co-workers and the local police department including Jade’s brother in law Colin.

Another sexy story direct from the imagination of Savannah Stuart who some readers will recognise as the pen name of Katie Reus. If you are searching for a romance with both heat and plot then you have hit the payload with this book!
David first met Jade when his best friend introduced him to the woman he was about to marry. David couldn't quite believe that the gorgeous Jade would be forever out of reach but being the good and loyal guy that he is he never let the couple know how much he wanted Jade himself. Fate has a twisted way of throwing curve balls though and when Jades husband is killed in the line of duty David stands firm at her side and bides his time . Now I mentioned that fate toys with us well poor David is poll axed when he discovers that two years on Jade is about to go on a date and what's worse is it's not with him! Has he left it too late to romance the woman he loves? Can he ever get Jade to see him as something other than a friend?
In the midst of all this turmoil though comes a real threat to David's hopes and dreams. Jade crosses paths with a woman who is about to put Jade well and truly in danger. David's a tough guy but those chasing Jade are relentless and she's set right in the firing line. David has not waited this long only to lose his prize but time is most definitely not on his side as Jade has become a target!
I liked Jade right from the start. She's dealt admirably with bring widowed so young and has made a life for herself. She's bravely prepared to start facing life head on again and take risks but it was sweet to see how she didn't just push David away. He's not a character who deserves to be used as a rebound and the author did a fine job of allowing Jade to open up to him and really see him as a man and not just an old friend. Is he sexy? Oh most definitely yes and so prepared to do anything to make her feel like a desirable woman again .
This is more than just a romance though as although quite short there is a very strong storyline running through this book. I have no wish to spoil it but it's a very dramatic story with odious bad guys who deserve to come to a sticky end. I'm not sure about a couple of things that happened but it's fiction so anything goes! Sexy and fun, another good book from this author.

In the midst of all this turmoil though comes a real threat to David's hopes and dreams. Jade crosses paths with a woman who is about to put Jade well and truly in danger. David's a tough guy but those chasing Jade are relentless and she's set right in the firing line. David has not waited this long only to lose his prize but time is most definitely not on his side as Jade has become a target!
I liked Jade right from the start. She's dealt admirably with bring widowed so young and has made a life for herself. She's bravely prepared to start facing life head on again and take risks but it was sweet to see how she didn't just push David away. He's not a character who deserves to be used as a rebound and the author did a fine job of allowing Jade to open up to him and really see him as a man and not just an old friend. Is he sexy? Oh most definitely yes and so prepared to do anything to make her feel like a desirable woman again .
This is more than just a romance though as although quite short there is a very strong storyline running through this book. I have no wish to spoil it but it's a very dramatic story with odious bad guys who deserve to come to a sticky end. I'm not sure about a couple of things that happened but it's fiction so anything goes! Sexy and fun, another good book from this author.

This is a fast pace contemporary romance with a bit of the erotic suspense thrown in. Jade Hadley is a widow who is finally ready to get back into the dating pool again after being a widow for some time. The beginning of the book she is telling her sister she needs some “excitement and red hot sex” in her life. Enter Security expert David McIntyre-who happens to be her dead husband’s best friend and he is her friend too.
He has loved Jade for a number of years secretly and when he hears she is ready to date again, he is determined that she date ONLY him. He sets out to woo her into his bed and into a forever relationship with him but unfortunately things do not see to work out that way for Jade’s life is threatened and her life is at risk.
Multiple times she is shot at, she is attacked, and all Jade is trying to do is stay alive. David wants to keep Jade safe and sound AND wants her to realize how much he has loved her and to take a chance on giving their relationship a chance. Jade slowly comes to the realization that things are not always as they seem when it comes to life and to romance.
This is a very face paced romance with twists and turns. The action is great. The sex hot-- The emotional drama will pull at you so keep the tissues handy. Ms Stuart (who is better known as Katie Reus) knows how to weave the story and keep you riveted until the end and wanting more. I really like this story and hope to read more in this world. I fell in love with Jade and David’s story because knowing you can have a 2nd chance at love is always a great thing.

Jade comes to terms that she needs to start dating and wants to start having hot sex lol. Little did she know she would have excitement and hot sex with David.
Everyone around Jade knows how David feels about Jade, when she finally sees him for the man that he is, can she really have a relationship with David, after being his friend for so many years?
Of course, there is drama in this story, Jade is in trouble and who is there to rescue her, but David. Of course, there is some serious sexual chemistry between these two. Before they can even do the "deed" lots of incidents are happening to Jade all due to a ring, she traded with a customer.
David, the hero of the day, saves Jade's life. Her feelings for David come full circle and cannot wait for what the future lies with David.
This was a very good book, it flowed real well with the story. I liked that the author went right to the heart of the matter.

Another Savannah Stuart novel that I couldn't put down. That's four just this week.
I loved this book. It's about Jade, a woman who is widowed and her deceased husband's best friend, David, who is in love with her. She'd known him forever but not in any other way except for friendship. Her husband had been dead for two years when she finally decided to get back into the dating game and he decides it's time to make his move.
It was weird for her at first although it didn't seem to affect him much. It was like an awakening for her to know that David had these feelings for her and had had them since he'd first met her, while he was still working with her husband. But he'd been taking it easy on her for so long and he didn't want to wait anymore. She'd just never looked at him like that before. There's a great love story there.
Then throw in some mystery and intrigue with the woman who had come into Jade's shop and traded a ring for some accessories followed by a dirty DEA agent who wants the ring and that topped the story and made it fantastic. (No spoilers here).
As with every Savannah Stuart novel I've ever read, it was fast, easy to get into the story, pretty steamy and had a great ending.

This was my first erotic romance book back in 2012. I was curious what all the hype was about and since I have read several this author’s books (romantic suspense and paranormal romance) under a different name, I thought I would give this one a try. I enjoyed the story as well as the writing and the characters, but I don’t think I am cut out for erotic romance. There were just too many intimate scenes for my liking compared to the rest of the story. I do think they were well written and with emotion and feelings between the characters (husband/wife and friends in love). For those that do like erotic romance, you should give this one a try if you haven’t already.
*Update to review (2014) - I have definitely changed my tune with erotic romance! If you are one that wants to give it a shot and you haven't yet, Savannah Stuart is one you should try. If you already read erotic romance and are looking for another good one, you should also try this one. I love Savannah's books and have read over 30 of hers (under both of her author names) and is an auto-read for me.

This was a short action, hot sex, and romance filled story. David & Jade have been friends since she met her husband as David and he were best friends. David has always lusted for Jade but respected her husband's memory. Once Jade decided she was ready to date again David refuses to let Jade not see him as a prospect. Jade was spunky and sweet and through her clothing store gets sucked into some DEA drama. David is a former Seal, former US Marshall and now in private security so when Jade is threatened he is the man for the job of protecting her....and sexing her up! I enjoyed this story even if it seemed rather short and not too terribly hard to guess the twists but it was fun!

No one writes erotic romantic suspense like Savannah Stuart/Katie Reus. This book is a wild ride that combines intrigue with a sensual romance. Jade and David are both strong and determined people. They will fight and protect those they care about. The secondary story of Maya and Colin added so much to the story. Tempting Target had everything - love, joy, sorrow and a happy ending.

2 years after having lost her husband, Jade is ready to live again and begin dating. David, her husband's best friend and hers has been in love with her since the moment he met her and has been waiting all this time for her to be ready and hopefully accept the fact that he wants to be more in her life than just her bff. Jade, however, has no idea that he has these feelings for her and when she realizes it, she's terrified. He's her best friend and she's never about him in that way before. It's a short read, action packed and pretty good. My only problem was that it kept going back to the relationship between her sister and husband and them making love when it really didn't add anything to the current story. The focus should have stayed on David and Jade.

Holy melted kindle Batman, this book is H-O-T! The sex is scorching, the chemistry amazing, and the action is page turning! I didn't realize that Savannah Stewart was a pseudonym for Katie Reus who's books I LOVE but once I got into it I could tell the style was very similar. This book grabbed me from the very beginning and did not let me go until the very last page. Jade was a great character, strong and vulnerable, smart…I loved her! And David, Oh My GOD, David! Smoking hot, strong, Alpha, honorable he has it all. This is a great book, you should read it….really you should! I received an ARC from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
