Daniella Clark has never fit in—a fact she’s always blamed on being adopted. But when her body is overtaken by a need so fierce it defies human explanation, she turns to the one man she instinctively knows must have the answers she seeks—her sexy-as-sin neighbor. But his explanation isn’t one she can easily accept, and it means her sexual heat won’t go away without his help.
But it turns out her neighbor isn’t the only male she has to worry about. The prime of his people has laid claim to her. And though he radiates sexuality in a way that makes her mouth water, he’s more beast than man. With one weretiger charged to protect her, and the prime's plan to claim her for his own, Daniella must fight to maintain her sense of self, even while they fight for her.
Andie writes sexy erotic romance and erotica stories that push boundaries. When she’s not writing (or reading!), she can usually be found daydreaming or attempting a new recipe. She thinks that life should require happily ever afters. And since she doesn’t make the rules of life, she instead applies this philosophy to the worlds she can control–the ones in her books.
This was an ok start to a new series for me. Daniella Clark has never fit in a fact she’s always blamed on being adopted. But when her body is overtaken by a need so fierce it defies human explanation, she turns to the one man she instinctively knows must have the answers she seeks—her sexy-as-sin neighbor. But his explanation isn’t one she can easily accept. Daniella a very rare were-tiger in heat and she doesn't know it. Parts of this book was a little confusing Owen is a were tiger and the prime who has been left to watch over Daniella, keeping her safe and waiting until her first Heat. The sex scenes in this book were hot and I love reading menage however it was missing from this book. I gave this book 3 stars because while it was a bit confusing at times it was well written with no issues with grammar or spelling and I did get the book from KU and I am looking forward to reading more of this series.
Having tried and rejected several books from my to-read list today I decided that I'm just not in the mood for a book I have to get involved in so I've decided to try this instead. Short serial cliffhanger books aren't really my thing unless, as in this case they're all available and on kindle unlimited. This book went pretty much as expected, Daniella is twenty-three years old, she's never really felt like she fit in but assumed it was because she was adopted. When the handsome and sexy Owen moves in next door they quickly become friends but then for no apparent reason Owen suddenly changes, he becomes cold and shuts Daniella out if his life. Owen is more than he appears, he's keeping a huge secret from her plus he knows a lot more about Daniella than he's saying. Owen is a weretiger and he's been given the job of watching over Daniella, weretiger numbers are dwindling and females are rare, royal females even more so and Daniella has been selected to breed with Erick, the clans prime (leader) it's just that no ones actually told Daniella yet and since she's been raised as a human there's a strong possibility she won't be thrilled by this news. This is your usual first in series, it sets the story, introduces the main characters and of course there's loads of sex.
This was a free read that I selected for a challenge. It's a really hot erotic story along the lines of Lora Leigh Breeds. It had the ménage vibe potential. I say potential because it ends on a rather huge vampire/ weretiger fight cliffhanger. So you don't know what happens next or if there will be a threesome. *sigh* This was annoying. I had a "WTF" moment when I got to the end. I allowed my self to be sucked in and bought part two because I do want to know what happens. I was prepared to died with curiosity, but part two was only .99. other than the cliffhanger ending, I did enjoy reading it.
This is an interesting start for a book that seems to be shaping up to be a sexy weretiger triangle story with some royal intrigue and vampire danger thrown in. Unfortunately I didn't notice that it's just the first 90 pages or so, and you'd have to download several shorter parts to find out what happens (I didn't.) I'm not a fan of this selling strategy. If it's novel length please publish it as a novel and not as a serial.
What would you do if you found out you weren't human?
This is what Daniella faced as she fought the constant need for sex. Especially when her sexy hot neighbor, Owen, who was once a friend is now an ultimate jerk. But needing answers while fighting her horniness, Daniela gets her answers - only more than she expected. Definitely a story for mature readers due to the sex content but the storyline eclipse the sex in a way the reader feels, empathizes and understands Danielle's conflict as she struggles through hormones and confusion. And the cliffhanger at the end entices the reader to find out more. Plus the mystery behind Owen's best friend Erick is something I'd want to witness.
Finding out that you were born as a Weretiger from your hot neighbor, Owen, is one thing. But knowing that he's watching over you for his best friend, the leader of the Pride, Erik is another think.
Daniella and Owen became good friends over the last year, then for no reason, he became cold and rude. It turns out that he's been waiting for her 1at hear to come through so Erik can selfishly take advantage of her situatuon.
This is part one in the series. Danielle has always felt like she never fit in. She is about to find out why. Her neighbor Owen seemed to like her and then just stopped wanting anything to do with her. Now she is about to figure out why. Owen didn't stop hanging around with Danielle because he wanted to. But because he wanted her so much. Now he finds himself having to explain things to her. But will she believe him? How will she react? This was a great start. It is a quick read with an interesting plot.
Nearly have this four stars but I'm realizing that this is only the first novella in a set...and that doesn't detract from this wonderfully written and sexy tale. Woman thinks she's human until her neighbor tells her different...then there is the alpha wading in...and of course vamps make a entrance. Lots of heat, weres, fun and games. gotta see what happens next...
I was actually getting into the story, even though it moved a bit fast in the beginning pages for my taste, but then about 90 pages in, it just stops. I would have never started reading had I realized it was being offered in pieces. Irritates me when I get tricked like this. I want a full book, not a piece of a book. I absolutely hate cliffhanger ending. If you don't mind buying who knows how many books to get the full story, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Just not for me.
What can I say about a book that one reads in less than 24 hours and I work as a nurse? Not much plot. Mostly repetitive sex and very little character development. Then leaves you needing to read the next book to find out what happens to the lead main male character??? Sorry but maybe 2 stars would be a better evaluation when I realize how little substance there was to this tale!
Gave this book 4 cups of steaming java, ☕☕☕☕. Quick paced and well written with plenty of action pulling me in to keep reading, good sexual energy between her and Owen, then Erick was the leader of tigers supposedly to breed her and she wasn't ready for him. But before they could head back to the clan, vampires came out.... More in book 2.
I hate cliffhangers, they make me run around looking for the next in the series. I am partial to animal/human shifters, skinwalkers, by any other name. I recommend the Claiming Their Royal Mate series.
Well written and different. It kept my interest, unfortunately, it's not a stand-alone novel and ends with a huge cliffhanger. So, if that bothers you, then get all of them at the same time.
The story was interesting. The sex was minimal but hot. The book, however, ends in a cliffhanger. If you don't want to fork out additional money to finish the story, don't buy this book.
This was a fun little short story. I'm intrigued, so I may continue to the next part. I wonder what our heroine will do and what our guys will be made to do to be with her.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots of yummy spice and suspense. This is a cliff hanger series but the series is complete for your binge reading pleasure.
Danielle is a young woman living her life in the city. She has her own place and a hot neighbor, Eric, who seems to try to avoid her everywhere. Once they sit down and have a heart to heart she realizes why she has the feelings she is having.
The blurb got me all excited, but the story didn’t quite deliver. Don’t get me wrong. It was nice. Just not a home-run.
Some things I liked. Hot shifters. YUM! I love me a good m/f/m, and this Part 1 of a series hints as some spicy action to come. In this part, however, the intimacy is between Daniella and Owen. I also liked the overall set up and story idea.
Deveaux creates some good sexual tension with the whole shifter-in-heat thing. I love this trope. It never really gets old for me, but it has to be done just right to work well. I don’t like when characters end up doing things they wouldn’t normally do simply because of the heat. I like it when the heat encourages more of a pushing of boundaries than an outright departure from character, and that is what happens in this story. Deveaux presents a nice balance by showing that Daniella and Owen have genuine feelings for each other outside of the heat-enhanced sexual attraction. They have been friends and neighbors for a year.
One part of the story that didn’t seem to do anything for the plot was the turn their friendship took for the worse that apparently happened before the opening of the story. The story opens with Daniella accidentally running into Owen in the hall of their apartment building and thinking about him as “her annoying neighbor.” The explanation given is that he’s so big and sexy and always seems to be around (I fail to see the problem, LOL!).
Later, it’s explained that they had been close friends, hanging out and enjoying movies together, until he grew cold toward her, seemingly out of the blue. This understandably cools her feelings for him, but her thoughts toward Owen seem too hostile for the circumstance. She really seems to despise him because he tapped the breaks on their friendship. Maybe it’s just me, but this seems like too dramatic a reaction. I would have preferred to experience with Daniella a sense of hurt or loss along with some indignation. I would have liked to see her act just as coolly toward him as he acts toward her, but not to be so angry.
There turns out to be a decent reason for Owen’s pulling back from Daniella. She is a tiger shifter, like him, but she doesn’t know it yet. Not only is it getting harder and harder for him to keep this secret from her, but he has another secret as well. Daniella is the chosen mate of his best friend (and Prime of his pack), Eric.
As this is an erotic romance, it’s inevitable that Owen and Daniella get together between the sheets. This happens, and the writing is nice in the steamy parts. But the revelation that brings them together doesn’t seem quite big enough to justify them both throwing out their reasons for not becoming involved. I won't give specifics for spoiler reasons, but sufice it to say this is just my personal preference. Others might not find the justification to be a problem.
Daniella’s voice was modern and quick-witted, but some aspects of her character didn't quite work for me. She was strong in some ways, like when she refused Eric’s claim on her, but when she has an opportunity to fight for her beloved Owen, she doesn’t take it, choosing instead to obey him and run from the danger when he tells her to. On one hand, this decision was smart and based on self preservation and concern for Owen (she would distract him if she tried to fight). On the other hand, it surprised me, because she hadn’t shown up to that point that she is the type to run from confrontation. The action and outcome of the big battle scene she runs from serves the story going forward, but I wished it had been more true to Daniella’s previously established character. I wished she had found a way to help Owen and still be smart and keep herself out of danger as much as possible.
All in all, this was a good, sexy story that has me looking forward to more, but I’m not chomping at the bit for Part 2. It’ll be something I pick up when I’m in the mood for more shifter menage, but I don’t NEED to get my hands on it NOW.
If you like shifter menage, You Want To Read Claiming Their Royal Mate, Part 1, but be warned the menage aspect doesn’t begin in this installment, though it is set up with good tension.
