Now the only person who can help her heal is the one man she swore to hate — Silas, the best friend she pushed away.

Silas has loved Jules since he first set eyes on her. But he lost her to his best friend. And now he’s lost his best friend to something his money couldn’t fix.

But a letter arrives. Grant’s final Show Jules how to live again.

Silas must take Jules on the adventure she’s always dreamed of . . . with the man she hates most in the world.

From golden Spanish sunsets to the sparkling coast of Amalfi and the magic of Parisian nights, Jules wants nothing to do with Silas. But there is a thin line between love and hate. And somewhere along the way, the man she left behind, begins to look a lot like the one she can’t live without.

This steamy enemies-to-lovers, billionaire romance is full of sizzling tension, heart-melting emotion and a chemistry that doesn’t fade with time.

This is the best romance novel I have read in recent years – great writing and exceptional characters.

The story kicks off with three friends – Juliet, Grant & Silas on a holiday at a Cape Cod bungalow after 4 years at Harvard, soon to collect their degrees. Silas is to go on a backpacking trip after; trying to stay away from his dad’s business as long as he can. Grant & Juliet plan to get engaged shortly.

7 years later

Silas’ has taken over the business after his dad’s passing. Grant dies after a period of illness. Silas meets Jules, offering his support but the meeting does not go well as the distance between them has grow over the past few years. Jules builds a business as a dating coach, doing reasonably well. A year after Grant’s funeral, Jules gets a letter written by him from Monica Braverman, a travel agent. Grant, in the letter, urges her to pick up her life and has arranged a trip for her to Europe (including to Italy which she had always wanted to go to). He mentions that there are more letters for her in other locations. He instructs her to get in touch with Silas – a person she now hates.

The blurb does not do a good job of describing this book – sticking to very standard marketing text. The book is exceptionally good – full of heart, lovely independent characters, excellent conversations, and great writing. The inner core of the characters really shines through – including that of Grant, through his beautiful letters. Juliet, Grant & Silas – all of them will stay with me for a long time.

This is a book I strongly recommend. I hope to read the other books in the author’s Off-Limits series.

I’m obsessed with this book and will immediately be reading the first two in the series. I was skeptical going in. Her dead fiancé’s best friend? I wasn’t sure that plot would work for me. But it did. I laughed, I cried, and I absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys being emotionally devastated (in the best way).

The highlight for me? The letters from Grant. They broke me and somehow stitched me back together.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first two in this series but this one was a giant disappointment. Dull, boring, no chemistry between the characters and Juliet is insufferable 90% of the time.

Would you like to cry today? This may be the book for you! Thank you to the author for the advance copy to read - this book releases Sept 18. This is a P.S I Love You vibes, travelling Europe, best friends girl - but not in a bad way - and a second chance at a first chance (?) if that makes sense. Beautiful story about living after loss, honouring the love you had and opening yourself to different love.

Jules, Grant and Silas were inseparable in college. Jules and Grant the quintessential couple, while Silas was the dependable best friend, happy to be the third wheel. But as the years went by and life distanced Silas from them, Jules continued on with Grant. When a sudden illness takes Grant from her, she is devastated. Little does she know, Grant has plan for her. One year after his passing, Grant has planned the trip of a lifetime for her - with the estranged Silas. Initially Jules does not want anything to do with it, until she learns that each stop will have a letter from Grant. Putting aside her animosity towards the man Silas has become - she goes on the trip. As they are pushed back together, they learn the misconceptions they faced about each other, the grief they both carry and learn secrets of the past that change the present.

A romantic and emotional slow burn

Jules, Grant and Silas are best friends from Harvard, with Jules and Grant in a relationship. The trio are all really close but when Silas’s Father dies, he drives Jules away with his out-of-control behaviour and they drift apart, however Grant and Silas remain best of friends.

Jules and Grant are engaged to be married, but then suddenly Grant becomes terminally ill. Jules and Silas are both heartbroken after he dies. Sadly, too much time and distance between the friends, has created an ever increasing chasm to be breached, and they go their separate ways.

One year later, Jules receives a letter with details of a trip that has been planned for her and Silas. If she travels with Silas there will be four further letters for her to read. Can she overcome her anger to Silas to read the letters that Grant has left for her?

This is a heartbreaking and emotional read, showing both Jules’s and Silas’s journeys to overcome their grief and find life along the way. This is a slow burn of a read and worth the wait to get to the romance. My favourite quote:

“You have never been just another girl,” he says in a way that makes my knees go weak. “You have only ever been the girl. The only one I ever wanted.”

My heart tore apart so many times along the way and I really resonated with how both perspectives conveyed grief. This is not an easy journey for anybody. I did feel however, that Jules’s dislike of Silas was not fitting with the character. Most people, despite their ages, would be more understanding of grief but the book does address this which I liked. It clearly shows that there is no expected path of grief, or people’s understanding of it. Sadly, life experience for some people can only create understanding.

Well done to Lily Parker for pushing the boundaries with this second chance romance. I really enjoyed it as I like books that are a little unusual and would recommend this.
Thank you to Netgalley, Choclituk, Joffe Books and Lily Parker for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Due to be published on 18 September 2025.

Wow! This was perfection. I cried, I laughed and I may have raged a little. After a tragic event in both Jules and Silas’s life that left them both trying to work through what happened of living their own life they are thrust back together in a trip of a lifetime. Will this trip break them or having them running towards each other?
I still don’t even know how to really articulate how much I enjoyed this book. I loved Silas he was a breath of fresh air and really grew from book 2 to this book. I loved him so much. He was kind, caring, and really paid close attention to the needs of those around him.
Jules, oh Jules, I am so glad you finally opened your eyes and saw what was in front of you. She loves hard and is very protective. I loved seeing her realize how much Silas truly cared for her and was really her best friend and truly knew her. I loved seeing them both grow and learn together and knowing how much they needed each other to move on from the tragedy that hit them both. There is 🌶️🌶️ of spice for those you are curious or would rather not. If you love forced proximity, friends to rivals to lovers, one room, billionaire romance, and a trip of a lifetime then I highly recommend this one!

I’m genuinely shocked this book has 4 stars. I thought it had potential for maybe the first 3rd of the book. The premise was cute and set up well. And then I realized we were racing through a story that both deserved and required more time to make any sense… literally. The entire book takes place in 7 days… Enemies to lovers in 7 days? Every argument or disagreement was resolved in minutes. Also I cry at almost every book… and not a single tear was conjured while reading this. It really just wasn’t that good.

4.5⭐️This is a great example of a book that was so much better than its tropes. I never would have read it if I hadn’t first met Silas in the previous book. Not into billionaires and dead fiancé’s best friend sounds awful. But, this was so good! The emotional parts were very well done, and the slow burn and ending were earned. The author took a tricky topic and really nailed it IMO. Loved all the locations too.

My Initial Thoughts
Since reading the previous book, I have been waiting for Silas’s story and I was not disappointed. Straight away I loved the vibes and felt for both Jules and Silas springing tears to my eyes very unexpectedly early on. The fact Grant still very much was included in the storyline really pulled my heartstrings making me cry more often than not.
Plot
I really loved the plot. The fact that not only Jules but Silas was learning to live a life without regret and coming fully to terms with life after grief. I loved the adventures they both took together but I loved Nonna Lisi, she was to cutest pasta maker, but also the way Lily wrote this makes it so vivid in my mind eyes, it magical and so romance.
Characters
The characters are like chalk and cheese, or so it seems when they both start their journey. The way they both develop throughout the storyline is the perfect understanding of growth and more importantly growth after the loss of someone so major and central in both their lives. I honestly loved the fact that Grant had such a big present in the form of the letters but you can really feel him as a character and the missing link that held the 3 of them together.
Recommend
If you have enjoyed the rest of the series, then pick this one up.
Favourite Quote
“I’ve always loved you. First as my friend, and even when I thought I hated you, I still loved you. And now, after today, I know I never want to lose you again.”
Favourite Chapter/s
My favourite chapters, and there are quite a few are 4, 14, 15, 16, 27, 32, 37, 40 and 48.
Summed up in one sentence
The road to romance when your still lost in grief.
Overall Wrap up
This was my favourite of the series, I devoured it. I had so much love for the characters. Grant letters always had me crying and I just loved the journey of Silas and Jules finding each other again after essentially losing the one person that held them both together. This book is a story of love and the story of finding yourself after grief and ultimately how it changes you as a person.

4.5 ⭐️

I was a bit scared going into this book, there's something about grief and even part of the dynamic that has me scared and already heartbroken. But, Silas and Juliet captivated me so much that I got lost in their story.

It is a gut wrenching book, you will feel the characters emotions. It is a big rollercoaster so get ready. But the way I couldn't put down the book even if I wanted was both sad and warming at the same time, I don't know how to explain it. I felt the need to submerge myself into this book, into their brains, their hearts, their emotions, and once I finished it I was smiling with happy tears.

The way Lily Parker put their feelings and thoughts into words was beautiful. Not only Silas and Juliet's, but also Grant's with the letters. Every time there was a new letter you better believe I had to take a deep breath, grab a tissue, and then get to reading.

I was crying, and giggling and screaming at them over and over. And for sure, this is my favourite book of the Off-Limits series.

Thank you Lily Parker for an ARC of this book and letting me experience this amazing book.

This book breaks your heart before it puts it back together.
Expect to cry a little!

Three best friends, inseparable since they met on the first day of college. Jules and Grant fall in love deeply and quickly, so after they graduate and Grant proposes, everyone is thrilled for them. No one more happy than their best friend Silas! Three peas in a pod.
They are all stunned when Silas’s father, a billionaire businessman dies unexpectedly and leaves him all the businesses. He transform into someone Jules and Grant don’t recognize, don’t like and don’t want to be around.
The hard working, hard partying playboy billionaire is not their old friend.

But when Grant gets sick, Jules and Silas rally around him between squabbles until the end.

Heartbroken Jules immediately must start selling the things she thought would be in their life for years.
A year after his death, Jules gets a letter from Grant telling her she is going on an adventure he planned to help her get out of her funk… but Grant is coming with her!

Que heartbreak, confusion, old friends, and a pasta making grandma.

Can Jules forgive her former best friend for who he became in grief? Does she understand how life altering now that it’s happened to her?

This is a lot darker than the other two books in this series but I didn’t love it any less!

5 STARS! No doubt this is Lily's best work yet!!

Thanks to Lily Parker and ChocLit UK for the advanced reader's copy. This book will be published on September 18, 2025.

Three best friends (Jules, Grant, and Silas) survive college together. Several years after graduating, Grant and Jules are engaged living their best lives, when all of a sudden Grant is diagnosed with cancer. While in the hospital, he sets up a trip (a year after his death) for Jules and his other best friend Silas, to go on together. Each destination has a letter waiting for them from Grant - what happens when the widow and best friend are forced to travel the world together at the request of the man who has passed on???

Y'ALL - this book made me cry big ugly tears, laugh, and be SO happy all at the same time. I thought I was diving into another fun rom com (which it is at times), but this book has SOOOOOO much more depth to it. This is one of those books that I'll randomly be sitting around thinking about in the days to come.

Check trigger warnings for sure, but obviously Lily treats the delicate subjects with care!

The book will be on KU and Audible, so grab it as soon as you can! I can't rave enough about this book!!

Let me tell you something: this book had me fighting for my LIFE… mostly because Juliet, the FMC, had me stress-eating snacks like I was watching a reality TV villain arc.

Silas: grieving, soft, billionaire cinnamon roll

Juliet: “Hmm. Suspicious.”

Ma’am. He lost his dad. He inherited a whole empire he never asked for. He lost Grant, who was basically his moral support bestie. And she’s mad that he… checks notes… has people who make his coffee???

Her anti-rich agenda had me wheezing.

Juliet every 5 minutes:
“Ugh, he has a driver.”
“Ugh, he has a private jet.”
“Ugh, he uses his money.”

GIRL. He is a billionaire. What do you expect? Carpooling? A studio apartment and a Keurig? Should he renounce worldly possessions and live in a yurt?? Be serious.

Also, like… he’s employing people. Let the man stimulate the economy in peace.

Then the building accusation… oh my god.

Juliet: “I think your building killed Grant.”

Facts: nonexistent.
Proof: negative zero.
Motivation: vibes and poor decision-making.

Meanwhile she herself didn’t check anything either because she was “in a fog,” but when Silas is grieving?
“No excuses!!! Lazy!!! Should’ve foreseen structural toxicity with your x-ray vision!!!”

If I were Silas, I would’ve left her in Switzerland with no forwarding address.

Silas’s reaction though??

This man starts APOLOGIZING.
He starts DOUBTING HIMSELF.
He’s like, “Maybe I was a villain? Maybe I did commit accidental building manslaughter?”

Sir, no. You are too kind. Please stand up.

And then she reads Grant’s letter and somehow manages to get WORSE.

The way she took every single line and assembled the least charitable interpretation possible, like she was speedrunning “How To Misunderstand Someone 101.”

Silas: breathes
Juliet: “Aha. Proof he hasn’t changed.”

Her FBI-level delusions were working overtime.

She hasn’t seen the man in YEARS but acts like she is the Official Silas Historian and Personality Analyst. Meanwhile everyone in his life is like:
“Actually, he’s lovely.”
And she’s like:
“No. I know the truth. I saw him once in 2019.”

Final verdict

Silas deserved:

✨️therapy
✨️eight naps
✨️a girlfriend who does not accuse him of murder based on vibes

Juliet deserved:

🧨a timeout
🧨no Swiss vacation
🧨someone to take away her dramatic monologue privileges

The book?
Entertaining. Emotional. Infuriating.
Would I read Silas’s POV? Yes.
Would I read Juliet’s POV again? Absolutely not, your honor.

The Best Wild Idea introduces us to 3 friends, Jules, Silas and Grant in the prologue, but by chapter 1 disaster has struck. Everything has changed. This book is heartbreaking, but there is also love and caring and putting yourself back together after suffering a tragedy. The selflessness of Grant, even after he is gone. I really enjoyed this.

The only thing that confused me was that this is book 3 in the Off-Limits series, but where book 2 focused around the best friend from book 1, this one seemed to have no connection to the first 2. I get the "off limits" part but with the first 2 books linked closely, this feels like it could have just been a total standalone. So whilst I enjoyed all 3 and would recommend them all, if you read this one by itself or first you will have zero issues.

This book was not for me…

I usually love most romance books I read but this was flat out annoying.
I really enjoyed the beginning but then the third act break up struck and I was so done. Overall I didn’t like the main characters and I definitely didn’t like the trope that was going on 😭😭 2 Stars and that’s NOT changing!

It's been a year since Jules lost her fiancé and she gets a letter from Grant on the anniversary of his passing. He wants her to take a trip, planned and paid in advance, and he wants her to go with their best friend Silas. They all used to be so close in college, but when Silas lost his father and inherited a billion dollar corporation, he changed and now she can't stand him! But in order to receive the rest of Grant's letters, she had to go along with the plan.
This is a slow burn enemies-to-lovers travel romance. Silas may have changed for awhile due to grief and jealousy, but he's such a golden retriever happy character on their trip. I could see his true feelings shine through even though he eternally put her "off-limits". Understandably, Jules was emotional and depressing throughout the book, but she still brought me down. Even though Silas said a few times he thought he didn't deserve her, I really thought it was the other way around. This is the third book in the series and my least favorite. The first two books had fun and humor and more spice. Honestly this one was a bit depressing until about 75% through.
I received a complimentary arc of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I cried so much reading this book. It hits your heart like no other romance. It’s an outstanding read!

I will be recommending this book to everyone who wants a proper romance.

Amazing banter, adventures and embodies what love truly is!

I do not want to spoil the story for anyone, but this us one of Lily’s best work. How grief is represented on this book was done very well, because while Grant is gone he is still very much there, present in the story.

•Enemies to lovers
• steamy
• Second Chance romance
• He falls first
• Forced proximity.

Rating: 3.75/5️ (rounded up to 4⭐️)
Spice: 2/5🌶️

Read if you like:
- Second chance romance
- Friends to enemies to lovers
- He falls first

The Best Wild Idea has to be the most unique story in the Off-Limits series by Lily Parker. I seriously loved the whole concept of the plot. It’s adventurous, emotional, and packed with memories and joy. The traveling aspect really added so much heart, and the pacing was done so well. I loved how each part of their journey brought new character and plot development, it kept things exciting!

Now let’s talk about Silas… omg, Silas. What a sweetheart! He’s the fun, life-of-the-party type, but he also notices the tiniest details about you. I absolutely adored how his character grew throughout the book. He made me swoon so many times, he’s just that kind of guy you can’t help but fall for!!

On the flip side, I didn’t really vibe with Jules. Her inner thoughts and some of her actions annoyed me, especially the way she treated Silas at times. She definitely gave me the ick here and there, but luckily things worked out by the end.

Still, I really enjoyed their adventures together, and I get why their relationship had so many ups and downs. The second chance romance element was written perfectly, and the way Lily Parker described the settings made me feel like I was right there with them. My favorite parts were definitely the adrenaline-filled moments because they gave me the same rush the characters felt.

Overall, it was such a fun, adventurous read. If you’re into these tropes and love a romance that takes you on a journey, I’d recommend picking this one up!

The way this sweet amazing romcom also broke my heart in the best way and pieced it back together. This is such a sweet story but also is packed with all the heart and emotions. I love Lily Parker and her books. Easy five star read. You will fall in love with these characters and their story. Silas and Jules have both experienced the loss of someone significant and now they are thrown together in a scenario that they have to navigate. While this is a beautiful love story it’s also one of loss, grief, and finding ways back to yourself after these experiences.

Earlier this year, I read the first two books in this, the Off-Limits series - The Best Wrong Move and The Best Worst Mistake.
Having loved them both, I was so excited to see this third book being released so soon again....and couldn't wait to see what was in store this time.

The front cover gave us some idea that in this book we'd be at least taking a trip to Paris  - the city of love! But would things run smoothly?

Well, this is by far my favourite reads of this series so far.

This was such an emotional rollercoaster and although I really don't cry at books very often, I didn't hold back during this read at all - so be prepared and get those tissues ready.

We hit the ground running as we meet Jules in the throes of grief following the loss of her husband and beat friend.

Immediately we meet Silas, Grant and Jules' best friend from uni, who Jules had distanced herself from years ago!

Only offering his condolences, but Jules just couldn't bear to meet him just yet.

A year later, Jules receives her first letter "from Grant" who had arranged for her to take the trip that they'd planned together, but the catch was that she had to go with Silas.

It was so clear from the start that Silas had always loved Jules but circumstances had changed him and created this distance between the friends.

I loved all of the characters and was desperately rooting for them to work things out and see how good they'd be together - and the most important part - that Grant had also seen how this would be the best thing for them both after he's gone.

I completely fell in love with this book and the characters right from the first page and the writing was so beautiful.

I raced through this so fast and actually couldn't stop thinking about it after I'd finished.

Although it was heartbreaking in places, it certainly built our hearts back up again and I just couldn't stop happy crying at the ending!

Another great read and I'm looking forward to my next fix soon!

3 stars. If you are a contemporary romance reader this book is for you. Not my typical genre. I enjoyed the theme but loathed Jules! She is beyond annoying, she made me angry with her constant icy, critical, nitpicking, judgmental personality, and her inability to come right out and talk about what’s bothering her. She’s childish, frustrating and insufferable, so if this is what the author was going for she gets ten stars.

This started out great! Unfortunately the ongoing irritating stupid blindness of Jules makes me want to recommend a therapist to Silas and suggest he find someone less insane! She continually just shrugs off everyone telling her he’s always been in love with her and takes off on him to another country with no word while calling Him an asshole.
Wow.
Maybe she’s just not worth it, Dude.
I was enjoying this book immensely but the main character is such a raging lunatic, for the first time I’m wishing he moves on and lets her suffer in her own muck.
The author should have done a re-write. Stupid.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

I loved these characters but wasn’t overly crazy about the story. I liked the plot but just didn’t like some of how it played out. It took me a while to read it but I think that was because of how busy I’ve been this past week. The audiobook narration was excellent with this one. This series has been cute though.
