What if your family had a big secret . . . a life changing secret. My dad, the bigwig CIA agent, was always on the run, whether he was being chased or doing the chasing. I missed him. Then my mom passed away, and my sister was murdered. I turned my solitude to strength because the alternative was too bleak.

But my luck seemed to turn: I met Tango. And while I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my twenty-two years, danger lurks around every corner and I simply can’t take the chance of it finding me. But his tattoos, his smell, his darkness, and his body— that marine has taken over my every thought. But, what if he too isn’t what I think? A ticking time bomb isn’t going to leave me much time to waver. Even the bravest person can be in need of a miracle.

Before she was gone, my mom warned me to know everyone and trust no one. But what was I supposed to do when I found out I am the one not to be trusted? Turns out, I was always the bait in this conspiracy.

As soon as you start the first page of the Prologue in Tag, by Shari J. Ryan, you will realize you are in for a wild ride. This is a story about two people, both broken and hurting, brought together in the most desperate of circumstances and how they attempt to save each other.

“Know everyone…Trust no one.”

Carolina (Cali) is one tough woman. She is twenty-two years old and the last three years of her life not only has she been on the run, she has lost her mother and witnessed the murder of her sister. Now all she wants is revenge. Her father is CIA and has taught her well how to handle herself. She is an expert with a gun and knows how to read people. There was one person in her past, though, that she misjudged. The one man she gave her heart and he in turn murdered her sister. Now he hunts her as well. She rarely stays in one place more than a few weeks, always trying to stay one step ahead of him. This time, though, her father sent a new body guard, Tango. He’s sent them before and Cali always finds a way to drive them off. She’s determined to do the same with this one.

Tango is a twenty-four year old ex-marine turned mercenary with secrets of his own. He has been hired to protect Cali. He’s been given a limited profile on her but he is not prepared for this beautiful, tough and broken young woman. She’s supposed to be a job. No way should he let it be anything more. But each day that passes while they are together he lets her in a little bit more.

“You’re a lot sweeter when it rains, huh?”
“I like the rain.”
“Well then, I hope it never stops raining,” he says softly.

Cali has learned the hard way not to trust anyone. But each day Tango is with her, she feels her resolve weakening. Every time he seems to break through a wall, though, she panics and doubts him all over again. Can she really trust him? Is he telling her the truth or is he just using her to get to her father? Maybe it’s finally time to trust someone again.

“It’s only been days, but this connection feels as though it’s been here forever. If he can believe in fate, so can I.”

“Maybe there’s a reason we did find each other. I’m broken. She’s broken. Maybe our two broken souls can fit together and make us whole again.”

 photo rock-climbing_zps28ac934a.jpg

Tango and Cali’s journey together take them from Boston across the country to Mexico. Then by foot through the canyons, hiking and scaling cliffs. All the while running from those that want her to get to her father. Along the way she and Tango learn to trust one another and find the hope they haven’t had for a long time of finding a future together.

 photo 52196280d1a40cf388049a3f808bc2a2_zpse726066d.jpg

This is both a suspenseful and sweet story of two people that didn’t realize they needed each other. Then once they do find each other, trying to hang on, never knowing how much time they will have together. After about the 60% mark things really ramp up and I couldn’t put it down. Will Tango and Cali survive and get the chance for their happy ever after? Once you start this book, you might as well get comfortable because you won’t want to put it down.

This book had quite the interesting start. It began with Cali in the past, witnessing her sister being murdered in front of her. Right off the bat that got my attention. Now in the present, Cali is on the run from the men that want her in order to get to her ex-CIA father, who has disappeared. Cali is also seeking revenge for the death of her sister, she will do anything to be able to kill that man. But her father has another plan, he has sent her a bodyguard named Tango. She may think he is attractive, but she no longer lets herself become vulnerable nor manipulated by anyone. Which is why she decides to stay away from the hot ex-military man.

Cali was great, I loved how strong and bad-ass she was. I felt for her and the way she grew up, and of course for the loss of her sister and mother. I will admit, I hated her father for not being there for her. I got that he was in trouble but I didn't get why they couldn't be together if the same men that were chasing her, were after him. It made no sense to me. However, once Tango was in the picture I was very happy. He was alpha, funny and sweet. I really loved him. He made me melt more than on one occasion. The sexual tension between these two was pretty high. I couldn't believe Cali was able to resist him for as long as she did. Tango has gone through some rough times as well. He feels just as alone as Cali does, but he hasn't lost hope. The reason Tango accepts being Cali's "bodyguard" is because he wants to survive.

The story was one that was full of suspense. I really enjoyed it. I liked the connection Tango and Cali shared. I would have liked there to have been a little more of them together learning about each other. And a little more steam wouldn't have hurt either. There were a few steamy moments but it definitely left me wanting more. The story line was very interesting but I will admit there were moments near the end that seemed a little too unbelievable to me. I also would have liked a little more detail in the end as well, as things seemed to be a bit rushed. Overall, it was a very enjoyable read and worth checking out.

3 TAG STARS ★★★

“Know everyone. Trust no one.”

Gotta admit that when it comes to romance-suspense reads, I'm a rather picky reader. For me, a good one needs to keep my interest piqued throughout and continuously causes me to be at the edge of my seat. While this read certainly had its own original twists that I didn't see coming, I couldn't find myself fully engaged with it that made me want to continue reading it in one sitting.

TAG starts off by introducing Cali, our heroine who witnessed her little sister being murdered right in front of her due to her being unable to reveal her father's location (who is an CIA agent in hiding). With the guilt that weighs upon her, she vowed to track down the guy and kill him.

In her path to seek revenge, she is forced to cross paths with Tango, a bodyguard and ex-marine that her father has hired from afar to keep her in check and ensures she isn't on a one-way ticket to self-destruction. Unable to trust anyone since her sister's murder, Cali & Tango would often clash heads but sooner than later, both of them started to learn that there was more to each other than meets the eyes.

I think the book definitely started off interesting and Cali's character appealed to me for being stubborn and driven with a purpose, who really didn't give a rat's ass about what people thought about her. I mostly empathize with her for having to deal with everything alone, having her dad being away and her mum and sister being dead. Part of me got really pissed that I couldn't fathom what kind of father would not be there for his daughter and chose his job over her.

Tango was an okay alpha-male, nothing OTT with a nice sense of humor and definitely have the whole protective vibe going on with Cali. But I'm usually more of a fan of super badass alpha-male and I didn't get that here :(

One of the things I struggled most with the book is having to suspend a good amount of disbelief while reading this, especially the fact that why Cali isn't with her dad since the bad guys are technically going after her because of him in the first place? How is leaving her behind suppose to protect her anyway? . Some things just came out a little too unbelievable for me especially towards the end and I wasn't entirely sold on the connection between Cali and Tango as it kinda escalated out of nowhere.

Overall it was just an okay read for me. The pace was a little too slow for my liking and sadly it just didn't warrant my attention long enough. However, it still had some great suspenseful moments topped with some unpredictable twists that I enjoyed. This could probably be the case of me being a picky reader but I would say that this read would still appeal to fans of this genre.

TAG is a standalone read and can be read on its own.

5 “know everyone.. trust no one” Stars!
Intense, Sweet, Adventurous and Heartbreaking. Another Fantastic Read!

The Review:
Absolutely Amazing! Shari J. Ryan spins gold once again. Filled with thrilling action and delicious tension, this gripping tale will keep you on your toes while pulling at your heartstrings. Five fabulous stars!

Story...
Through no fault of her own, Cali Tate has been on the run for longer than she cares to admit. Since the day her sister was murdered in front of her and her trust completely broken, she’s been on a revenge mission that will either get her what she seeks or get her killed. Either would be just fine by her. She trusts no one and she allows no on into her life. She’s alone and that’s the way she prefers it.

Then... Tango shows up out of the blue with a promise to protect her and a job to do but Cali has made it an art to read people and she knows Tango is holding back and keeping secrets.

Tango has one last mission to complete and he’s promised to keep Cali safe. But with one look into her suspicious and beautiful eyes and appreciating her vicious attitude, he realizes this is more than a job. He sees through the walls she’s built and knows the pain she’s endured because it mirrors his own. But he’s also keeping something hidden that could change everything and his only hope comes from a dangerous mission that involves the one he’s supposed to protect.

Tango and Cali set out on a fierce and perilous journey to save a life through intense situations, action packed adventure and angsty emotions as Cali tries to trust once again and Tango tries to accept his fate.

Characters...
Told in alternating POV’s, we get both sides of the story which was a thrill to experience.

Cali was as tough and strong as they come. She’d been dealt this tragic hand of fate due to her father's misdeeds and even after losing her sister, she found the strength to carry on. She wanted revenge and she trained her body and her mind to accomplish this mission. And when faced with even more dire circumstances, she didn’t waver and she didn’t complain. Her life was chaotic, dangerous and intense and she rolled through all those punches with bravery, a wicked aim and a witty comeback. I enjoyed everything about her.

Tango was a hot mess! He survived the war riddled deserts of Afghanistan, leaving dead bodies in his wake, only to return home to his own death sentence. But once he meets Cali, he sees light at the end of his dark tunnel and even if things don’t turn out the way he would like, he values that time he gets with Cali. I loved Tango. He was honorable, strong, powerful and outright ferocious when what he cared about was in danger.

Their story was filled with burning intensity and sexual tension as they both tried a “no touching” approach that quickly got vetoed once they got a real taste of each other and all that angst was a lot of fun to read!

And that ending.... what a fantastic and beautiful ending that had my eyes watering and my heart soaring!

Special Note...
Tango didn’t just waltz out of war without scars. I come from a military family, like the author, and I appreciated the care the author took in creating a realistic hero who suffered for his country. Tango was still very much shell shocked. He’d only been discharged for a month and it was both heartbreaking as well as eye-opening to watch his struggles with PTSD, flashbacks, and his actions and reactions to the things around him. He was faced with doubt and regrets and wondered what it was he was fighting for. I recognized those struggles and the life he was trying to carve out for himself after such harrowing events, only made me love his character even more.

The Wrap Up:
I love this authors style of writing. She doesn’t waste words and her stories are always heartfelt, life affirming and adventurous. I’m once again wowed at how she can rope me in with just a few paragraphs and hold me captive to the very end. I absolutely couldn't put this book down and I enjoyed every riveting moment.

Some of My Favorite Quotes!

Quote Spotlight...
No one ever asked me if I wanted to be followed around my entire life. Dad was the cause of Krissy’s death, and he’s out there carrying on with what he does best. Well, now it’s only me. My life will always be under some kind of microscope because of him. But Tango, he’s pretty much the fucking icing on top. To send me an amazingly hot man to ogle, only to be informed that he’s my new babysitter, is pretty screwed up. It’s like Dad wants me to be miserable.

Quote Spotlight...
The world seems like such a big place when you have no one and nowhere to turn. It almost feels like the world is caving in, warning me it’s done with me, and it’s time to go.
But I don’t want to go.
I’m not done with this world.

Quote Spotlight...
She looks so innocent and so pleasant when she’s asleep, but when she’s awake, she’s a ball of fire. Although, I do think the meanness has to be a mask, or just a case of self-defense. Whatever the reason is, I like what I see under the mask.

Quote Spotlight...
I just want to feel something that lasts for more than a few minutes, and she makes me feel something when I’m not even touching her. It also doesn’t help that she’s so beautiful when she’s mad.

Quote Spotlight...
This battle is never fucking ending.
I can’t even remember what I’m fighting for. Is it for my survival or my country? Where is my country? Do they even know I’m here, having guns shadow over my head, watching children sacrificed in place of their parents? Do they know what kind of world I’m being face with, while they’re watching little snippets of sandstorms on TV? Do they think that’s war?

Quote Spotlight...
I’m broken. She’s broken.
Maybe our two broken souls can fit together and make us whole again.

Quote Spotlight...
Even if I die tomorrow, you have made my life worth living.

Hang on tightly to your heartstrings, because an emotional tug of war is about to explode all around you as two people, deserving or not, have faced a world of pain, deceit and loss in their pasts and hold little hope of change for their futures. Tag by Shari J. Ryan is part tender romance, part nail biting suspense and one hundred percent “Go away-I’m Reading” magnetic!

Cali’s life has always been unsettling. Her father was rarely around growing up and now he has virtually disappeared and on the run. As the daughter of a CIA agent, Cali was taught never to let her guard down, never to trust too much. But she did just that, once and it cost her sister her life as Cali could only watch the horror of the man she loved slitting her sister’s throat. When her mother died of cancer, there was no one left for Cali to trust in, lean on or be loved by. She did have her raging anger, the need for revenge and later, as she would discover, a bullseye on her back. Cali was the pawn in the game of cat and mouse being played between unknown evil and her father. It was time to go into hiding with him. Enter Tango, former Marine, toughened soldier, a man doing his job, to protect Cali and bring her in safely. When Tango wasn’t breaking through Cali’s defenses, he was completely irritating her. Tango was also full of his own secrets, both past and future. He has his own demons to deal with and he is not ready to share.

When danger follows on their tail, it is Tango who proves he can be trusted to keep Cali safe. But can he be trusted with her heart? Will he bare his past, present and future secrets? Will he explain the blood he coughs up? Does he have ulterior motives to being Cali’s bodyguard?

Rest up for this game of Tag because Shari J. Ryan knows how to dig deep and push every button in her arsenal to bring a fast-paced tale riddled with intrigue, mysteries and searing emotions that will leave you raw. Page by page the world around Cali and Tango grows uglier and uglier. Staying alive is at best, a crap shoot and believe me when I say, I felt like I was there as every moment sped past only to slam into another twist or sharp angle.

One of the best things about reading is finding a new author to follow and today was my lucky day!

Great romance with Marine hero and suspense.

This was a really good book. The best part....It's a standalone!! I'm so burnt out with those books that leave us lost with cliffhangers. Tag doesn't leave us hangin. It ends with you having a smile on your face.

Cali is alone. Her dad is a member of the CIA and is on the run. He contacts Cali by using untraceable phones and depositing money in her checking account. He won't tell her where he is and helps her run to stay away from individuals trying to use her to find him. Sadly her mom died of cancer, leaving Cali and her sister Krissy alone. But life isn't fair, and Cali has suffered a lot. Her sister who was also her best friend, was killed before her eyes by the guy pretending to be her boyfriend. He wants the location of her dad and won't stop searching for Cali to use her to find her father.

Tango has survived several years as a Marine in Iran and Afganistan. He lost a lot of his friends, but that's not why he was discharged. No he was discharged because sometimes fate is a b!$&h. Fate chose to give him two to three months left to live. Tango becomes a mercenary and is hired by Cali's dad to protect her.

Cali doesn't trust anyone. Everyone she's ever loved has hurt or left her, yet she is drawn to Tango. She fights the attraction constantly. Tango finds himself falling for the spitfire he's supposed to be protecting. Cali is so tough, but he sees her pain. It's a reflection of his own. As the two become friends, Cali learns Tango's secret, and its not acceptable. She wants to do whatever she can to save him, which means finding her dad. But they are never not being chased so it won't be easy. Not to mention, it could be too late.

This was really a good book. Cali is a strong leading female character. You'll like her immediately and feel for what she's been through. Tango is a sweetheart. He's such a gentle, caring man. Yet he's tough as nails and will do whatever he can to protect Cali. It's not fair that's he's sick. As much as they try to fight their feelings for one another, you'll find yourself pulling for them to finally give in. They're really perfect for one another and spoiler......they get their happy ending.

4.75 Tango-lovin' Stars

Cali has lost everyone she loves. She's been on the run for the last year and everyone wants to use her to get to her CIA agent father. Her mother taught her to trust no one and after learning the hard way Cali truly trusts no one.

That is until she meets Tango Wright who is supposed to be a body guard. When sparks start flying Cali knows she can't trust him because the last time she let someone in it meant death for someone she loved.

Tango has a huge secret of his own and the whole time I was still wondering if Cali should trust him or if he was going to double cross her. I loved Tango but I never fully trusted him so how could Cali?

This book has a ton of 5 star reviews and it earned every one. The one thing I would change if I could would be the ending. It had a great ending but it was very rushed and felt thrown together. It just didn't feel quite as polished as the rest of the book. That being said this was a fantastic story and I devoured and loved each and every second of it. Don't be scared about what I said about the ending because you do get a wrapped up story, it's just not as lengthy as I would have liked.

I have purposely written this review to be very vague because I think it's one of those books that you need to go into blind. Almost any details that I could give would spoil this storyline. I'm also too lazy to go find graphics and write a lengthier review tonight ! Get clickin'! This book was worth every penny!

As a reader, I’m always searching for a book that will completely satisfy me - one that will blow me away and leave me breathless and wanting more. I enjoy a unique story, one that grabs my attention and doesn’t let go until I’ve read the very last word. I got all of that and more with Tag, it’s a story that left me utterly ruined for other books, in the best possible way. In the competitive book world, it’s a refreshing change to come across a plot that has you thinking outside the box, while grabbing hold of you with its emotional turbulence. With a prologue that gets its hooks into you right off the bat, this story held the promise of being one that I won’t soon forget.
It’s easy to be strong when resilient people surround you. Having no support, though, it’s weakening.

Cali isn’t your typical female. Strong, tough and a whole lot of kickass sass, she will go for the jugular and not give it a second thought. Being taught to “know everyone, trust no one,” has hardened her to the softer side of life - her father’s abandonment, mother’s death and sister’s murder adding more weight on her shoulders than any young woman should feel. Her father’s involvement in darker dealings with the CIA have left her with danger lurking in the shadows, ready to strike at any moment. On the hunt to bring her sister’s killer to justice has put her life on hold - revenge her own focus. Her character was the perfect mix of humor and sassy spunk - I loved how she approached every avenue with passion and was truly a force of nature. Nothing stopped or or deterred her from her goal. That is….until Tango entered her life.

He is the force I can’t reckon with and it’s pissing me off.

Tango has a job to do, and it isn’t one he’s looking forward to. Babysitting some out of control girl isn’t exactly his dream job, but since his discharge from the military and his “death”, his career opportunities are limited. What should have been an easy assignment turns into so much more once he meets the hot little firecracker, Cali. The clash in more ways than one, a battle of wills, a battle of desire - a battle of two broken souls trying to mend pieces of their heart they lost. I loved their connection, I was lost in the way that they made each other feel. Cali’s insecurities and refusal to trust anyone drove me crazy at times, had me wanting to shake her and tell her to wake the fuck up. Seriously now, if Tango showed up at my door, all sexy and domineering demanding by my side, I would happily hand over my panties and let him have his way with me. He’s just that damn sexy.
I want to be happy more than anything in this whole fucked up world. I want someone to like me, to love me, to care about me. I want someone I can trust.

This book is so much more than your typical romance. The mystery, the suspense - everything about it gripped me from the beginning. The writing style was beautiful, the story had a natural flow - and that is something I love in a book. If you’re looking for a read that will keep you guessing, satisfy your lady parts and warm your heart, this is the one.

Tag, you’re it.

TAG for me was a bit of a perplexing but emotional read, it started off brilliantly enough with the Prologue having an eerie Hitcockesque feel to it full of shadows, murder and treachery, as Cali our tragic heroine tells us in her emotional point of view, step by step, the traumatic events that lead her into a world of isolation, self-preservation and revenge. As the story moved along however the plot seemed to waver and go in a direction that never really benefited or progressed the plot except to highlight the lengths that Cali would go to in order to exact revenge and the desperation she feels in her need to carry it out. The synopsis and prologue both hinted of an action-packed, CIA conspiracy extravaganza but what we get is something much much different and just a bit more complex. It’s a tale of revenge but with a message of finding absolution, it’s a story of murder and betrayal from all sides with the entanglement of guilt and despair clouding the path to redemption and love for our two main protagonists
At times Cali’s character came across as very self-contained, aware and strong and at others she exuded the attitude and sarcastic bite of a surly hormonal teenager but taking into account all that leads her on her quest for vengeance and retribution, I did feel slightly amazed that she wasn’t as damaged as she believes herself to be. My only flaw with Cali’s character was the missing connection, I would sometimes feel sympathy or annoyance with her or laugh at some of the witty repartee that occurs between her and Tango but I never fully grasped the inner workings of her even though the story is told in dual points of view.
Cali’s emotional saviour comes in the form of ex-Marine and mysterious Mercenary Tango. A complex and multi-faceted hero Tango was the perfect element needed to help Cali understand that it’s okay to trust someone, to lean on someone else, to have an actual friend. It was a very slow simmer of a romance with these two, there was instant attraction but neither party attempt anything for a good majority of the book. The sexual tension never really amounted to much but the flirtation and verbal sparring still added good entertainment value.
It is a well written book with good use of grammar and dialogue but it was just a little slow and lagging in places. When you get to the last third of the book the action and excitement really kicks in to high gear and that’s what saved the story. There is plenty of intrigue and mystery towards the end so coupled with the beautiful yet fragile romance of untrusting Cali and reluctant Tango TAG is a fairly good read if you don’t mind a slow burn rather than instant gratification.

-This was given to me in exchange for an honest review-

Trust no one. <--- The words that the main character lived by. She would soon learn she could trust one.

This book had me smiling. It had me laughing out loud. It had me wanting to quote some of the lines. I could connect with some of the moments in the book as well.

Callie and Tango were by far one of the most fantastic couples to follow on a journey. The romance was sizzling, the banter was amazing, their story line was incredible. I just adored their connection from the very start. The opening of this book reeled me in right away. I loved the plot as it was a thrilling romance novel that had me not wanting to stop reading. At every turn something new and exciting happened. I would recommend this novel to anyone with a love for a thrilling adventure, filled with romance at every corner.

The reason this book was not getting a five stars is because of how predicable, and unrealistic a lot of it was. A cure for cancer is not that simple. Tango falling upon her and making it out alive was so unrealistic, but predicted. I will admit there was one turn around I didn't expect, but it was too cheesy for me. I also found myself beyond peeved with the ending. I found myself beyond peeved when Callie told Tango they didn't need protection because she was on the pill. No. Disease. Neither of them thought twice about diseases, at all. They had only known each other for less then a month and they didn't use a condom. And then, it felt like an easy cop out to rearrange the novel to the perfect little ending where Callie and Tango can get married and start a family. It was so cheesy. The fact that these 'bad guys' were after them, the thrilling part of the story, just for them to turn around and be 'amazing' to Tango, and Alice was kind of unbelievable as well. Then Tango comes back and they have the cheesy, happy ending, that was actually not happy in a realistic way. The ending was rushed, and too over the top. Also, Tango and Callie falling in love after only three weeks, and then, getting married after only being together for three weeks was so ridiculous. It could have been easily taken care of if the Author actually made it seem like they'd been around longer, skipped some time ahead and what not. The pace of their romance was great, it didn't feel like only a few weeks...but it was making it unbelievable.

The thing that saved this book for me was as I said, I could quote things. This book made me laugh, it made me smile, and that's a good book in my mind, ending aside. Yes, I'd still recommend this book to people, and just simply say it's worth the read ending put aside. Some may love the ending though, just wasn't for me.

4.5 stars*

Because it’s freshest on my mind, I love the last line of the epilogue: a great ending to a great book!

I’ve been in a real “romantic suspense” reading mood lately, so TAG appealed to me on many levels. First off, I requested this title because of the cover and then the blurb. I liked the simplicity of the title, the exotic locale featured in the cover’s background, and the attractive tattooed couple in its foreground. Finally, the tag line “Know everyone…Trust no one” piqued my interest.

Page one of the prologue gripped me and refused to release its hold on my curiosity and attention. Even though Cali is a bit prickly, I liked her immediately. Now I’m going to be honest here and say that the first chapter creeped me out considerably, reminding me of Hard Candy, the 2005 film starring Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson. Nevertheless, I have a healthy respect for vigilante justice in fiction, and Cali’s pursuit of revenge (in Krissy’s honor) is no exception.

Of course, I like Tango as well. It would be impossible not to, right? And while I like Cali for her attitude and spunk, I admire Tango for his loyalty, stability, and moral fortitude. The two make a solid match based on their character traits and life experiences.

On that note, the concept of fate is strongly threaded throughout the novel. If you like your romance with a healthy dose of meant-to-be (which I do, frequently) and the idea that finding the right person is like discovering the answer to an all-important, persistent question, TAG is right up your alley. Now that’s not to suggest that the novel is devoid of conflict. On the contrary, it’s the conflict that made this one a page-turner for me. The reading experience was such that I genuinely didn’t know how things would turn out. At least two plot twists I didn’t see coming, and in general the suspenseful narrative kept me on my toes.

So, why not five stars?

First, many of Tango’s sections are short and underdeveloped, and I found myself wanting to hear as much from his point of view as Cali’s. Second, the resolution comes about more quickly and easily than I expected due to its build-up.

Did either of these issues ruin the novel for me? Absolutely not. TAG is an incredibly entertaining endeavor, and I predict its storyline and characters will stick with me for a long time to come.

I picked this up because everytime I'm eager to meet new authors and read awesome books, and this sounded really good, the cover was a turn-on, so...

This review will be a bit short and not because I didn't enjoy the book, but because I don't want to spoil it; and this being a mystery/suspense novel sould be read without knowing too much. I think because I read it without paying too much attention to the synopsis or not knowing too much about it, made me like it so much.

TAG was a very good written novel, that held me on the edge of my seat for the whole ride and I enjoyed everything: action, plot, characters, twists and turns, dialogue. It was so well written and I have nothing negative to say. I didn't see that ending coming and some thing really surprised and shocked me. And sometimes I think I forgot to breathe, because this is a hell of a ride and from the second half of the novel I couldn't think what was going to happen, who was the bad guy, what was the main thing.

This book, like the two main characters, plays with your mind. Now says something and then does other thing. And it was so much fun and so much suspense and adrenaline. Plus, I really really liked Cali and Tango, and their stories. Both are strong and full of ambition and inner strenght, and I admired them through the whole book; because they haven't had a beautiful past and they are not having a nice life in the present. But things start to change, little by little... and when you reach the end you feel sad and reliefed. Sad because they are leaving you and reliefed because they are now safe and sane.

And another thing that made this book awesome and great for me was the writing style. It gripped me from the beginning and from the first sentence I knew that I'd love it. And I'm so glad that I picked this up even if I haven't heard about it, because it woth it and I just want to read it again :)) Yeah, that much I loved it! The writing style feel so natural and cursive and you feel everything; the characters are very well sketched and the whole novel is a beautiful jem that is waiting to be discovered.

Highly recommend!

Carolina or Cali as she prefers to be known by, has had a rough couple of years. Her Dad is a CIA operative who is rarely home leaving her, her sister and her mother who form a tremendously close bond. When her Mum dies from cancer, it’s up to her and her sister to stick together and be there for one another in what is a very difficult time. Then her sister is murdered in front of her eyes by the man she fell in love with and trusted only to find out he was using her the whole time to find out where who Dad is hiding. From that day on, she lives by the motto her Mother said to her just before she died, “Know everyone…trust no one”.

Cali goes on a vendetta of revenge for anyone that ever hurt her sister. She turns into a tough as nails chick who can fight, shoot and take down a man with her bare hands. With the man who killed her sister hot on her trail, she is also on the run and when she meets the new bodyguard sent by her Dad to protect her, she feels something she hasn’t felt for anyone in a long time…a attraction and challenge that presses all her buttons.

Tango is an ex-Marine, gorgeous, tattooed and well built. He is also haunted by his past and is hiding a deadly secret. He is now working as a mercenary and was hired for what is to be his last job. He thinks the job will be easy, until he meets Cali and she puts him through his paces.

When Tango reveals his secret to Cali, she will stop at nothing to find her Dad, who is the only person that can help Tango.

I really loved Tag, it’s a gem hidden in the rough that is the book world and I was so happy I signed up to read it!

It’s suspenseful, face paced, action packed, emotional and steamy and a must read for romantic suspense fans. The emotion I felt when I first read about Tango’s secret very nearly made me cry and the whole time I was thinking “No, don’t do this to him”.

TAG pulled me in at the prologue and took me on a ride that I couldn't get enough of. It's a great combination of romance and suspense that'll leave you on the edge of your seat and hoping that everything will work out in the end.

Carolina has had a hard life for the past three years, first watching her mom die from cancer, then having her sister murdered right in front of her. But when we meet her we're shown right off the bat how strong she is and I knew I was going to love her.

Tango is absolutely amazing. He's been dealt a pretty crappy hand himself but he's dealing with it the best way he can. What he didn't plan on was Cali and the feelings she would evoke in him.

Neither are at a point in their life where they're looking for love but it turns out that that's exactly what they both need. They give each other the strength and will to survive and when death is literally knocking at your door, that's more than either could ask for.

I loved watching first the friendship, then the love blossom between Cali and Tango. There was definitely no insta-love since Cali's way too hardened for that, but I loved watching her give in to Tango. And Tango is so swoon worthy, how could she not?!

Of course the suspense was the perfect backdrop for their budding relationship. Cali has some bad guys after her that are trying to use her to get to her father... Only she has no idea where he is. When Tango reveals that what her father has could help him, he and Cali take off on a trek across Mexico to find him.

What ensues is romantic suspense at it's finest. The bad guys close in, Cali once again proves just how badass she really is, and some shocking secrets are revealed. Not to mention there are a few sexy times between Cali and Tango as well.

I was a little disappointed in the ending but overall this was a great read. Now if only there really was a secret cure for cancer out there somewhere...

*Wow! What a ride that was. This book is full of suspense with a touch of romance. I was hooked from the very beginning. This is such a powerful and amazing story of trust, lies, love, and the strength to get through everything you’re handed in life and just make the best out of every situation you find yourself in. I loved this book. It was completely different then I thought it would be at first. I was hooked from the very first page. I just couldn’t put it down. With every page I got even more engrossed in the story. I felt like I was there witnessing everything happening like I was watching a movie. I loved it! I highly recommend this book.

TAG is one of those books that literally hooked me from the start. I read the sneak preview of it at the back of When Fully Fused by the same author and knew I had to read this book. Cali is one of those main characters the mommy in me wanted to hug and tell her there is good in the world. But in reality, she doesn’t need me to do that. She has Tango and Sasha to do that for her. The author created a story I had a hard time putting down. I read it on a weekend camping trip and ignored everyone I was with in favor of taking in Cali’s amazing adventure. I’ve read everything by this author and love how she writes. My brain enjoys the challenge.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I work for the publisher but this did not impact my review.

Shari never fails to disappoint! Another amazing read, drawn in right from the start. I found myself connecting with the characters immediately and going through this story with them, minute by minute. Wouldn't put it down til I finished it! Shari's writing technique is a force to be reckoned with - there are not many authors who can hold me captive with their words. Definitely put this on your to read list!

First let me thank Inkslinger PR and Shari J Ryan for allowing me to have an ARC of “Tag” in exchange for an honest review. And honestly I Loooooved it!!!!

*** Spoiler Alert ***

This book starts out with a bang. Well a vicious stalking and a bang. Carolina or “Cali” as she prefers it is in an alley along with her sister Krissy who is being held captive by the Reaper -as Cali calls him-, knife to her throat. He is demanding to know where their father is. Problem there? She has no effing clue. When Cali gets enough in her to pull her gun on him, she shoots but it is a lost cause. He shoots her and slices Krissy’s throat. As her sister lay there dying she vows -promises her- she will avenge her. Anyone that ever hurt her will pay.

Present day we find Cali at a school -college- in California. She is making a Psychology teacher very uncomfortable as she sits in the front row watching him, making it so he is having a hard time focusing. The sultry little vixen is doing all she can to get him to unravel. Its all part of her evil plan. After class she goes to her car and while she is applying her lip glass she gets an “unidentified” call on her cell. She of course knows exactly who it is. Her dads calling to tell her she has to get out of there “he” is heading her way. He as in the Reaper. She blows it off and says she will in a few days. Knowing her time table has been pushed up she goes back to the class. Her little dance of seduction works and the teacher -and his hard on- are waiting for her when she locks the door. In the heat of the moment -his not hers- she gets the professor to admit he had raped Krissy -as in her sister- and not only does she have it on tape on her phone… she puts it on YouTube. (laughs effing hard)

Once he realizes what she has done he is just stunned. As she walks out she politely tells him her real name and that he might as well kill himself.. his wife is gone. His job is gone and his life is over. That night her cell rings. Its dear old daddy again. of course he has found out about her YouTube video and is worried she drew unneeded attention to herself. He orders her to get on on a plane that night. He gives her 2 hours. (laughs) Demanding he is. There is a ticket waiting on her. While she waits and waits for the plane to actually show up she glances a man -big, beefy muscled man- and being a female she is curious about him but goes on about her business as usual. Finally she can board the dang plane. When she gets to the back of the plane she pops two pills (Valium) puts on her headphones, turns on her music and tries to relax. that doesn’t work. She starts to panic. (I don't blame her, flying sucks ass.) Through the headphones she hears a muffled voice. Its the big guy from the waiting area. He drops a small bottle of vodka in her lap. His name is tango. Tango tells her if she needs anything to just call his name and he walks to his seat.

Hours later when they land in Boston, thanks to her stellar detective skills she figures out that Tango is working for her daddy. hello new bodyguard. Or babysitter as she says it. But she is stuck with him -for now- she has plans to make him run off like the last one did. The chick is a bit cray-cray and she has a temper to match that bitchy smart-ass routine she has going. (laughs) Tango -an ex marine- is used to taking shit from people but he does ask himself a few times why he is doing this… she may make him mental yet. (At one point Tango calls her his dark princess… she in return calls him Iron Man and I did crack the fuck up.. loudly. Love it!)

They arrive at a newish apartment complex and try to settle in as best as two people that live out of bags can. Cali is trying her best to figure a way out of this place. Can she sneak out without the “Hulk” hearing her. All of her other bodyguards had bionic hearing… would he? Yes, of course because the moment she goes for the door he is there. Casually dressing to head out to find food. (Just dayum..) When they get back from the diner Cali is still feeling… out of control. She needs to relax. Finding a shooting range online she goes to Tango and he takes her a few hours later once his ruck is delivered to him. The guy at the gun range sets them up and here is where it gets… funny. Tango, this big macho man can’t shoot. Or so he tells her. I mean come on.. but it does get her to loosen up a bit and she shows him how to shoot. All is good until they leave the place. Her mind starts to bubble and she pulls a Jekyll and Hyde on him.

Catching Tango off guard she pushes him against the building and pulls a knife on him yelling at him for lying about not being able to shoot. (shakes my head. Gal is a bit cray cray for real.) He of course subdues her and gets her into the truck and gets her back to the apartment. As they spend time together over the next couple of days they embark in giving each other the silent treatment. Until finally she breaks; wanting to know if he wants to have dinner with a friend. They go out to a bar, have a few drinks a little food and then… she gets a text from her ‘dad’ wanting to know where she is. When Tango takes her phone and calls in for a satellite location she flips out. ‘He’s only after her dad.’ ‘he’s just like the rest of them.’ And so on. Her mind is like a minefield. One minute she is fine the next she is exploding. He drags her outside and tries to explain that its not her dad, again but Cali being Cali doesn’t know what to do she needs.. a rush. So what does she do? The crazy gal goes to play in traffic.. well needless to say that does not go over well with Mr. Tango. Nope. He hauls her up over his shoulder and takes her back to the apartment.

Cali is one pissed off, upset girl by this point. Her worlds spinning and she is losing it. When she hears Tango outside her door saying they have to leave she refuses to open the door. But when she hears him soften his voice and call her Cali and not Carolina she hesitates. But the minute he tells her he is calling in for a replacement she reluctantly opens it. He -as in the Reaper- is close and they need to get out of there. But she stands her ground. She tells him about the Reaper, what he did to her sister Krissy and her. He agrees they can stay there and he gives her the illusion that he will let her confront the Reaper. The next morning when she gets a text from her ‘dad’ she lets the reality sink in that its not her dad. Tango gets an ‘idea’, they pack up ‘just in case’ and he drives off with her. The next thing she knows -thanks to her nap- is they are in Cape Cod. Far from Boston. He stops on the beach and to her surprise they have a nice chat. In the end they decide to go and find her dad. Tango knows the coordinate he sent but they will still have to hunt the ass down. But its a proactive plan. They get back in the truck and hightail it out of there. Somewhere in Pennsylvania they stop for the night. Thanks to a dark room and both of them having black bags she grabs his by mistake. She sees a message pop up on his phone saying “I love you”.

So of course instead of asking him about it she pulls a mood again. Giving him simple answers and then the silent treatment after he asks what her problem is. She tells him she doesn't want to be a home wrecker. No more flirting and such. The poor boy is struck but if she wants to play that game he can too. After a day and a half though he breaks. Simply put he doesn't want her thinking of him or herself badly. Tang stops them on the roadside, pulls her to him and tells her that after he was discharged he wanted his family to keep thinking of him as a hero so he was reported dead. He had to watch them cry over his grave. But fate is a cruel bitch sometimes. He ran into his sister -who is the one texting him- while he was in a Nashville bar. She sends messages he never answers. Its easier on her that way.

Cali’s open to him now. How can she not be? That is not something you would expect. So they have a lot in common. Both are alone and no bodys. As they drive on Cali asks Tango about his real name. If he buried that identity who was he, who was the man that made him who he is now? She promises to never say that name but she wants to know. So he tells her. She likes the name but Tango fits him. She even make a joke of him calling her Charlie -using the Military alphabet- but he one ups that.

“Ooh! I know. You could call me Charlie,” I laugh a little at my own militaristic joke.

“Impressive. You know the military alphabet?”

“Common knowledge in my household.”

“Well, maybe I’ll just call you Tango’s Alpha Girl, TAG,” he laughs, and his eyes gleam, making him look healthier and happier than I’ve seen him since we met.

(And I swooooned a bit at that cause just.. yeah.) Arriving in Mexico wasn’t so bad. They were let across the border and made their way to the canyons where her dad’s coordinates lead. Trick was this was going to be a long, hot walk through the canyons. Once they settle in at the end of day one they are both tired, hot and Cali -being Cali- again loses her thoughts and questions Tango of his intentions? Is he really sick? Is this a trick? the fact that she can’t believe and trust in him hurts. they set out to find water and its there at the water falls that things change. Her icy exterior breaks and as they embrace trouble shows up.

Seems they are being followed. Is it Reaper? Can they get away from him? They do some backtracking and make fake trails before getting to their campsite, get their things and go to find a hiding place to spend the night. Hopefully they can stay hidden until the morning.

You know how they say.. never get too comfortable? It’s good advice. While they slept in the cave the call of nature hit Cali. Its hell when ya gotta pee. So she makes her way out into the darkness and just when she is ready to move again… Reaper appears. He and a cohort Jorge take her away from the cave. Once reaper sends Jorge to deal with Tango. Which I mean kill him Cali ups the ante. Time to make the bastard pay, if she can get in his head… and she does. Badly. (laughs) Ya know karma is a bitch too, right? If you don’t well you do now. he roughs Cali up but she is able to slip his grip and he takes a cliff dive. But she is injured but Tango -after taking out Jorge- finds her. After a little sleep she is better. And they start back on the track of finding her dad.

At a point where they have a bit farther to go they hear voices. Spotting two men with a map Tango makes a call. Asking for back up. two people. That would even it out some. When back up arrives via a Helo.. they all meet and one is a retired Marine, knows his shit. the other is an office jockey who is a pain in Cali’s ass after 5 minutes. They do run into a group and take them out before setting up camp for the night. Tango and Cali go to get water and when they come back, Kacen -the desk jockey- starts in on Cali again. Needless to say he ends up with a knee to the nuts. (laughs hard) It was deserved. But when Cali is grabbed from behind, mouth covered she assumes it was Tango who is dragging her from him.. but something is wrong. The hand smells different. Its not Tango.

By the time Tango finds her, its only been a few minutes and she is still stunned. Maybe she was seeing things? She really isn’t sure but there is no time to worry about that now. The next morning they pack up camp and head out. Getting to the location of the coordinates Tango was given Cali goes into the dark cavern alone to look for her dad. Praying he is there. And.. he is. But the happy moments don’t last long as the China men catch up.

And… that is where I stop because I can’t tell ya more without ruining this story and I can’t do that to you. Because TRUST me you will fall in love with this book as I have. Its so many things… and the feels holy crap! I loved it. I want to turn right back around and read it again.. and yeah that only happens every so often. I love most books but this one had me on a roller coaster of emotions from page one. In my personal opinion it would make one kick ass movie. Like totes. Yes, I totes went there. (Laughs) I have a cast in my head too.. Ha. Anywhoo…. Pick this one up. I mean it is a page turner and I am super glad I had the chance to read it. Even bought myself a hard copy of it. So get it and ENJOY it!!

Received review copy in exchange for an honest review; original tour post can be found at:
http://mnonmklreviews.blogspot.com/20...

This was the second book in a row that I unknowingly read with the use of an acronym. First was CALL SIGN KARMA, and then this. When I learned TAG was an acronym, I was a but flabbergasted, I suppose you could say, because I kept thinking "Tag, you're it" in my head..... Not that I was entirely wrong on that front ;)

It took me a good chunk of book for me to even remotely like Carolina -- and I prefer Carolina to Cali (and loved that Tango called her by her given name more often than not, and later when Carolina is a bit vulnerable and calls him by his given name? Loved that, too).
I must have missed the whole "twenty-two" thing in the back-blurb, because when I realized she was in her twenties, my opinion completely changed. It's one thing to be hard headed and hurt and react when your 18, 19 but quite another when you're in your mid twenties.

Tango's a good egg -- rather than use her to get to her father and a possible cure, he just doesn't consider it an option. As feelings grow between them and he slips about that, Carolina insists they go to her father (which she still ends up questioning his motives, much to my annoyance). Many books do the deception dance, so I loved that Tango was honest from the beginning.

Tango, although dying, is lighthearted and fun -- he's a great balance to Carolina's surly ways. From the beginning I knew I'd like Tango, and honestly, he's the reason I kept pushing through. Eventually, as Carolina's shell cracked and she started to let Tango in, I liked her too. I understand her trust issues (although I tended to become icreasingly annoyed every time she'd let Tango in a bit, only for her mother's words filter through her mind, thus her questioning him)...
“I’m not sure how to prove it besides coughing up more blood. Maybe when I drop dead you’ll believe me then.” I know I just pissed her off, but I’m a little shocked she just questioned my motives. I’ve been honest with her. I’ve told her everything, things I shouldn’t have even told her, and she still doesn’t believe me. What else am I supposed to do to prove myself?"
...and her need to be guarded -- but there's a difference in being guarded and shielding yourself, and quite another to be a bitch, and the fact that Tango stuck it out? Major props to you, boyfriend.

I rather enjoyed the bursts of irony Shari threw in the book.

Breathing does come easier when I’m around him.
I love that as she's learning to open up, to be vulnerable to a person and to trust Tango, she's losing that hard shell and learning to breath again. However, the more days that pass, allowing her to open up, Tango is closer to death from a disease process that is literally stealing the breath from his lungs.

There were a few things I liked about Carolina, though. They were the key parts to me learning to like her character. I loved that while Tango couldn't be Tyler Wright from Minnesota anymore, she keeps him grounded and reminds him of his past -- she even is the key piece in molding his past and future together.

In the end, I was pleasantly surprised I liked the book. I wasn't sure my love for Tango could get me through it, but I'm glad I stuck it out, as Carolina grew on me too. I much prefer her vulnerable. I was, however, sad at how quickly some of the end scenes played out.

Book Review- TAG by Shari J. Ryan

Carolina watched her sister die as they were hunted. Someone wants to know where her father is. She tried to save her but carries the guilt that she was unable to. She has dedicated her life to live for her sister Krissy and seek revenge on all who hurt her.
She ends up at the same college her sister was attending to seek her revenge on a professor for doing the unthinkable to her sister. After she accomplishes what she wanted, her father calls her wanting her to go to Boston. She hates flying.
A strange man on the flight sees her distress and offers her something to help. When the flight is over he seems everywhere. He sits and waits in the terminal as she also waits to receive a text from her dad telling her where to go. Unfortunately Cali figures out the man is now her new bodyguard thanks to dad.
Tango was hired to keep her safe. He knows the general area where her father is located. He also knows that there is no way he would be texting her. They hide out in Boston for a little while then head to Cape Cod. He knows she isn’t safe.
As they hide out Cali fights her attraction for Tango. Yet she starts letting him in. He is there to protect her but he also understands everything she has lost and what it has done to her.
When they decide to seek out her father together, they make a run for it. However Tango knows that things can turn bad quickly. Cali questions her trust in Tango and continues to waver. She is shocked to learn he may be the only person she can trust.
This book is full of danger and excitement. It pulls you in instantly. Cali is tough and bad-ass. I loved her immediately. Her character type is one of my all-time favorites. She is strong and out to avenge her sister. She takes care of herself and trusts no one. Then along comes Tango and she fights him at every turn. It was fun to watch how frustrated she got. She had met her match and watching her fall hard was icing on the cake. I adored Tango’s character. He was an ex-marine, tough, strong and had a soft heart full of understanding. He was a sign worthy mix.

The plot was an excellent journey. The cancer issue was a bit out there but the cause of most of the pain in Cali’s life begins with it. So it was a necessary part of the story.
There was, however, a lot of violence and death in this story. So those of you who don’t like that beware of it. It fit into the story though moving it along and adding to the excitement of the chase.
I liked the characters and most of the storyline. I would recommend this book. I give it a 4 out of 5.

I am quickly becoming a huge fan of author Shari J Ryan. I adored her Schasm series and TAG did not disappoint. Filled with suspense, tension and romance this book takes us on a journey that leads up down a path where we find retribution for horrible wrong-doings, forgiveness for past wrongs the eventually become righted and, of course, romance.

Our heroine Carolina Tate, or Cali as she prefers, has been kicked down over the past several years more than she cares to admit. The death of her mother to a terrible disease, her father being hunted down by people for some unknown reason so that he must go into permanent hiding and her sister being brutally murdered by Cali's boyfriend. Poor girl! But rather than shut down and take the easy way out, Cali became strong she learned how to fight for herself and with that she began hunting the man who killed her sister. The problem with Cali becoming such a strong independent woman was that she shut everyone out. She allowed no one to get too close to her, because letting them in did one of two things. It either put them in danger from the man she was hunting who was also looking for her or it pulled down walls that she has sufficiently put up to keep her heart safe. "Know everyone....trust no one" that is what her mother once told her and she has never forgotten.

Enter Tango, a Marine honorable discharged due to a health issue that could keep him from performing his duties and put others in harms way. Tango has his own demons. He's done things he's not proud of, but they happened and there is nothing he can do to change things. So, since he's no longer a Marine, which was his life, he took on a job in personal security and, it so happened, that Cali was to be the person who needed safekeeping. Of course, she was not thrilled with this notion and was quite difficult for a while, but then she and Tango began to talk and more of their stories came out and......

Well, you will just have to read this one. TAG is definitely on my reread list. It's actually one I kind of wish was a series rather than a stand alone book. The settings and scenes were well thought out, in that they worked with the story not against it. Since this is definitely more of a character book, there was no need for hugely ornate set pieces, as that would detract from our characters. I love the characters, their interactions with each other as they get to know one another and yes, the eventual love story that comes into play.

**I should add there are sexual situations, nothing Penthousey, but definitely hot.

Tag by Shari J. Ryan is a breathtaking romance, that leads you on a ride of an adventurous lifetime. Carolina Tate, or Cali, as she likes to be called - is twenty-two years old and she has had a rough time of things. Her mother passed away when she was younger, her dad is a CIA agent, that has several people after him and has disappeared into hiding. And most tragically, her sister was killed by Cali's supposed boyfriend. The same boyfriend that she loved deeply. But now she is on the run. The people that are after her dad are after her, including her ex and they will do anything they can to find her.
Before her mother passed away - she told her to "Know everyone, trust no one." Now that she is alone in this world, she has made this her life motto. That is until her father sends her Tango, to watch over and protect her. By the time that he comes along, she has built up walls that no wrecking ball can crash through. Until now! Tango is ex-military, tattooed and extremely good looking. And as much as she wants to, Cali can't stop the thawing that is taking place in her cold heart. She likes him, and she likes him a whole lot. She is falling and falling fast. But once Tango reveals his secret, her life changes course and she has one mission - and that is to save him!

Cali Tate is one bad ass twenty two year old. She can hold her own both physically and mentally. She is the type of woman that can stand on her own, and takes nothing from no one. Her life has been a series of chaos and catastrophes - of one heartbreak after another. She doesn't know it but what she wants and what she needs is exactly what she has fought to stay away from. LOVE. Tango is a delicious, sweet, kind-hearted, loving man! He is the kind of man every mother wants for their daughter. The boy next door has come back from war and has a secret to reveal. You pair Cali with the sweetest, yummiest ex-marine to ever walk across the pages of a book and the chemistry is enough to cause a nuclear explosion.

I must say I am a fan of all of Shari J. Ryan's books and this one did not have one page of disappointment. From start to finish it moved me. The storyline has a lot of twists and turns. And the action is suspenseful and riveting. Cali's sarcasm and tough girl exterior at times had me laughing out loud. And Tango, warmed my heart and brought me to tears. Highly recommend this romantic suspense - but be prepared to not want to put it down!

My Thoughts:
TAG is the 1st book I’ve read from Shari J. Ryan, she was so cute on contact me and give me a copy of her book in exchange of an honest review and which I’m so happy I read it. I was so happy when she told me about the book. It definitely set my expectations pretty high for her future books. Shari J. Ryan gives to the readers everything we could want: betrayal, broken hearts, suspense, romance, trust and a HOT Marine.

Cali is such a badass, I loved how strong she was. I felt for her and the way she grew up with the loss of her sister and her mother. I was so mad at her dad for leave her alone, I just couldn’t understand why had to be away when they were following by the same bad guys, but of course at the end I got it. For all this Cali AKA Carolina Tate was a tough woman with trust issues but when the Sexy Alpha male Tango AKA Tyler Wright get in the picture she starts to melt for him and so do I.

Tango is a sexy ex-Marine with a lot of charms to talk about like how funny, sexy, gentleman, sweet, flirtiest and super-HOT SMILE (with Shouty Caps) you might think how does she knows that, and its thanks to how the Author Shari describe him so perfectly.
Tango is very sick and about to died, I was so sad about thinking on it and how Cali will end up alone again and brokenhearted. But you find hope through the chapters because of Cali’s fathers and there is where the mystery and suspense comes, oh and a lot of sexual tension between them and their hook ups on the waterfalls were amazing.

Cali and Tango are forced to be part of each other’s lives, there was no choice after her father put in him the cure for his illness so he became the bat and the scientist wanted to test the drugs so they took him away. Not knowing if they will kill him, but clearly Tango was Cali’s Hope and weakness and of course a light for a new life. But how will that happen if he is taken?
Sleep!!? You’ll lost it just like I did. I’ll highly recommend for all to click on the amazon link and get it. Ohh I almost forget, Cali’s mom is back and so alive want to know how? Then go and get your copy NOW.

When I first started reading this book I didn't really know what to expect from it, the genre itself was way out of my normal reading zone but I was not disappointed at all! That prologue. Holy wow, from the moment I finished reading it I found myself wanting to know more.

So let me see, I'm going to try and write this review without spoiling the book for you.

Cali isn't your average run of the mill kinda girl. She's got spunk, a sick sense of humour, and a whole lot of badass-ness! She's been through some pretty tough crap in her life, and is now, in her own way, trying to pick up the broken pieces.

Cue Tango, the amazingly sexy bodyguard, who has some secrets of his own. I loved how Shari J. Ryan managed to create a manly aura about him, however as the book progresses you kinda get to see a completely different side of him. I was pretty much swooning over him from about 25% into the book. :D

TAG is basically the story of two broken people trying to find their way through the toughest of times. As fate has it, they land in each other's paths. Both seemingly unsure about whether to trust each other, or not. There was a lot of character building throughout the book, whenever you think you know it all, well, just stop. Because there's MORE for you to know. There is a plot twist, that made my stomach churn. There is an amazing love connection between the two main characters, but it doesn't overrun the entire story. Which is probably what I loved most about this book, it wasn't just 'oh he loves me.' or 'no, I don't know if I love her".

It was such a refreshing read, I would definitely recommend this book for anybody who loves a heap of badass, or anybody who's just looking for something different to read.

Four big fat stars!

An excellent stand alone novel, the only reason I didn't give it five stars was because I found the later part of the book lacking in certain areas. HOWEVER, I will be here anxiously awaiting the arrival of Red Nights by Shari J. Ryan!

Tag was a very intense read about finding yourself after losing so much and dealing with a death sentence in more than one way. I found myself totally engrossed in this story from the beginning to the end. I will have to say I wasn't sure what the title of this book was completely about until towards the end of the book, which is probably a good thing because it kept me guessing the whole way. I would give this book a 4 star and would recommend it to others. The story line is like no other and I was so glad to finally read something that wasn't the same old boy meets girl they fall in love he cheats or she cheats supposedly and they break up and get back together.. oh no this book has mystery and many moments that make you want to cry and say no that can't happen. That being said there is a love story involved and it gets pretty steamy which of course I loved because who doesn't love a good smutty scenes! This is a standalone and didn't leave me hanging at the end which is another reason why I have to give high stars because lets face it I am all cliff hangered out! This is the first book I have read by this author but I look forward to so much more in the future. Thanks for a great story and I absolutely love military books and this just weaved its way into my heart tenfold!

Cali and Tango met in a very unique situation because Tango is supposed to be her bodyguard. What happens when Cali finally lets her guard down after years of making herself believe you can't trust anyone. Tango has a messy past and has suffered great loss and is still suffering from tragedy but when he gets an assignment to protect this young girl he never thought he would not only find the love of his life but he will find something that will truly save his and Cali's existence together. Tragedy will strike multiple times, fate will intervene and unexpected twists and turns will keep your head spinning but can these 2 find a way to live again through each other or will unexpected forces ruin everything they have built?

Go get this book now you will not be disappointed!
