It's a pretentious book, full of authors' own opinions and freestyle takes on human sexuality. Authors do deserve kudos for matching academic research with real-life questions, but not always successfully. They are trying a bit too hard to 'educate' the reader about political correctness, women rights and general manners. All these thigs are impprtant, but not enough to overpower the main topic of the book.

When talking about certain kink the authors state that "many people enjoy fantasizing about [it] and some people (thought we bet this number is smaller) enjoy having [it]" (p. 128-129). The book could have been better if they'd spent less time betting and more time researching.

this is just the book to turn anybody off sex. Lots of biology, nothing about the mind, the book is almost solely about penetrative sex of the most vanilla sort. The question one can't help asking here is why are doctors and biologists supposed to be sexual experts, when all they routinely come up with is such boring and off-putting stuff?
