SPOILER ALERT BEWARE!!!! Omg I absolutely love this series. Oh my word Lucian is a dirty talking, hot, sexy, rich, alpha male. He is also so infatuated with Lia. He will do anything to protect her. This book picked up right where the first book left off. Lia is in the hospital after being beaten badly and nearly raped by her stepfather. Lucian feels so guilty for not being there to protect her. He is so loving, patient, and kind to her while she's healing. Omg swoon!!! But even though he's falling deeply in love with her he still can't tell her his secrets or that he loves her. His ex Cassie broke him when she went crazy, tried to kill him, then tried to kill herself, and killing their baby in the process. Even though he hates her he still pays for her treatment in the mental facility. She literally broke him. He's afraid to love again because he loses everyone he loves. But that doesn't stop Lia from creeping into his heart and soul. While she's recovering Lucian learns who her real dad is. But he's afraid to tell her while she's recover from so much emotional stress. Her life has been horrific and he's afraid this news will push her over the edge. So he keeps it secret. They start using protection because there's a possibility she could be pregnant with his baby. She had been off her birth control while recovering and forgot to restart them. They had unprotected sex so until they see if she's pregnant they use condoms for now before restarting her birth control. I have a huge feeling she is definitely pregnant. I sure hope so. But poor Lucian is struggling with the news that Cassie may be getting better, his secrets, and his cocaine addiction. It's tearing him up inside. Her step father is shot and his body is dumped in the river, thank the Lord above! I think her real dad Lee took care of that. Things are going great now. She's fixing to start school back when she learns Lee has paid her tuition. She goes to his office thinking it was a mistake to clear it up. But while there she learns he is her real dad and that Lucian kept it from her. She is devastated. I feel so bad for her. But I do understand why he kept it from her. He only wanted to protect her. She leaves him to go stay with her best friend Rose. He finally tells her he loves her but it's the wrong time to say it. She's so hurt. At the end of the book he decides that he has to tell her all his secrets about Cassie and do whatever it takes to get her back. I cannot wait for the next book. I love these characters so much. Such a great series!

This picks up where book 1 left off with Lia in the hospital after her step father attacked her.

Lia's real father plays a larger role in this book and he fiercly protects his new found daughter by forcing her mother to tell the truth (which lands her in jail thankfully) and probably having a hand in the death of her step father.

Lucian fights his cocaine addiction while trying to be strong for Lia and dealing with the Cassie/Aidan situation. We get a little comedic relief in the form of BFF Rose.

Lucian and Lia have both been profoundly hurt by someone in their lives and the damage they each survive leaves trauma in its wake. But now, in finding each other, they've found a renewed hope for the future.

This is a story of picking up the tragic pieces of your damaged life, after surviving numerous horrendous assaults, and trying to move forward. Inch by excruciatingly slow inch. Together, Lia and Lucian are clawing their way from their darkness back to the light. Every character in this book grabs your heart.

Book 2 ends with a cliffhanger and the secrets push Lia away from Lucian.

Fractured is book 2 in Lucian and Lia series by Sydney Landon.

The emotional avalanche worsens as well as the physical damage. Lucian withholds his discoveries from Lia which precipitates anxiety and decisions to no longer stay with Lucian. Twists and turns run rampant in this book. Her healing is prolonged as a result.

Secrets make this story convoluted amidst the horrible hurdles and lots of STEAM . Yet another cliffhanger.

So, I’m off to get Mended.

I HATE WHEN THE LAST BOOK OF THE SERIES IS NOT OUT YET!!!!!!!!!!

Even more when book 2 is better than book1, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

4,5 to 5 stars.

So what makes book 2 better than the first one?

-more intrigue;

-Lia has really to overcome her trauma and is overcome by so many feelings. It's really intense (I love delving in the character's psyche );

-Lucian needs Lia like the air he breathes and is all "mine" and protective and everything I love in an alpha male;

-her father is not some bastard for once and wants to help her. But "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions"...;

-Rose is a basket case but I loved all her tantrums (what's not to love in chick who can shoot a gun, sew, assault a hot male and can also clean up like a Stephord Wife?);

-the "Cassie factor" equals futur problems for Luc and Lia, even more dangerous when Monique is banding with her. So, more drama, twists and turns in the future (I've some idea but...);

-...

And now, I have to wait and hope the wait won't be too long or I'll have a hard time to remember all the details!

My name is Lucian Quinn and I own one of the most successful software companies in the world. I’m twenty-nine, rich and single. Impressive right? I’m also a favorite target for every hungry socialite looking to land the uncatchable catch. Maybe it sounds vain, but the fact that I’m a God between the sheets doesn’t hurt my stock any. What these women don’t know though is that I’m completely screwed up and damaged beyond repair by my past. The only part of me I’ll ever willingly give them is the hour it takes to make them scream…several times.

Then I saw her…

I’m Lia Adams and I’m in my last year at St. Claire’s University in North Carolina. I grew up with an abusive mother, and a twisted stepfather who was worse…so much worse. I’m so close to escaping from my past and making my dreams come true. I’ll do anything necessary to survive, even work as an escort to help pay for my college expenses. The men that I accompany to various events as an escort for Date Night are mostly harmless and just want an attractive woman on their arm for an evening. It has never gone further than that…until him…

Lucian and Lia attempt to deal with the aftermath of the violent attack on her by her stepfather. As events unfold in their lives, Lia finds that she can no longer be patient with the man that she loves, because his secrets are tearing them apart.

Lucian cannot deny the fact that he's fallen in love with the brave and beautiful woman who has lived a life of horror. He wants nothing more than to protect her, but soon realizes that he may be the person who will hurt her the most.

This sequel to Pierced by Sydney Landon picks up exactly where that book left off. Unfortunately, this book also ends with a cliffhanger. The Series is 9 books in total.

In some ways this book was a little tamer than the first book. We got more depth on our main characters. Rose, Lia’s bff is a little bit wilder in this book. After all, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”.

Could Lucien’s need to keep things private and to himself cause the end of their relationship. I’m afraid Lucien is admittedly a bit of a chicken compared to the lovely Lia who fights to keep her head above water and not let her tragic circumstances define her life or let her life be consumed by depression. Lucien is in awe of her but he can’t seem to be able to live by her example.

Lia also learns the identity of her biological father.

RATING KEY:

🌟 Stars - based on the overall plot and theme or idea of the book
❤️‍🩹 Emotions - based on how emotional I got while reading
🥰 Romance - based on how well I got invested in the love story aspect
🌶️ Spice - based on how the sex scenes were portrayed and written as well as the number of sex scenes
🔎 Mystery - based on how well it kept me guessing who, how and why
😰 Scared/Anxious - based on how scared or anxious the book made me while reading
🎭 Comedy/Tragedy based on if I laughed or if there was a tragic event and how it affected me. I will mark the Masks with either a C or T to indicate Comedy or Tragedy

There was definitely a lot going on in this one

Lucian does everything to help Lia get over the emotional and physical attack from her father. But as things start to relax for Lia and Lucian, Lucian finds out the identity of Lia's father. He feels with all she has been dealing with, it's not the right time to tell her.
Bad move on his part because she ends up finding out on her own and also learns Lucian knew about it the whole time. She feels betrayed and decides she cannot stay with a man who would do that to her. Is this the end for the two?

Amazon Link---->> Fractured (Lucian & Lia Book 2)

~~ 5 Stars ~~

Well Sydney Landon has done it again….I honestly don't believe she can write a bad book. She is an auto read author for me and I usually drop everything when she releases a new book. Her Danver's Series is AMAZING, but I think Lucian and Lia have stolen my heart. This trilogy is so different from the other series, but you can still tell that it is written by the same author. I love how Sydney can create a story that captures your heart and soul right from the beginning. Her writing style is so smooth and effortless. I love that she tells this story from Dual POV, because this is a story that needs both sides told. I will warn you that being that Fractured is book 2 in this trilogy there is a CLIFFHANGER ending to this book as well. I will say that this one was a little easier to take then from book 1 (Pierced) but this one still has me biting my nails and begging for more!!!!!

This review is really going to be short and vague and will probably just focus on my feelings while reading this book, because I don't want to spoil anything for anybody. This installment is filled with secrets, lies, betrayal and a lot of emotion. This book takes off exactly where book 1 ended. She also answered a lot of the questions that were raised in book 1 but she did create a whole new group of questions for me in this book. I was glad that we learned more about Lucian's past with Cassie and what happened during the tragic event from 8 years ago. We get to see Lucian struggle with opening up to Lia about Cassie and also him struggling with his true feelings for Lia. This book really focuses on how Lia and Lucian overcome the brutal attack from book 1 and all the feelings and emotions a person goes through when trying to recover. This book had some really hard parts for me to get through….my heart broke many times reading about Lia and what happened in Lucian's past.

I still love Lucian. He is bossy and possessive, but still sweet, loving and protective. And of course he can still melt a pair of panties ;) Even though he couldn't express his love for Lia….he showed it in many different ways. Don't get me wrong Lucian is far from perfect when it comes to his decision making, but you can see everything he does is because of his love and protectiveness of Lia. Lia is an AMAZING character!!!! She grew ten fold in my eyes in this book. I thought her past was horrible and that she was strong for getting through it all, but after what happened to her in book 1 and how she comes out in the end of this book….she is one of the strongest heroines I have read in a long time. I am interested to see how Lucian and Lia will overcome this latest hurdle and where their relationship will go from here.

This is a book I would 100% recommend!!! This book had a little bit of everything, laughter (Lia's BFF Rose), steam, romance, drama and sorrow. This book will have your heart going up and down like you are on a roller coaster. If you are a fan of Sydney Landon…you don't want to miss this book. But again if you don't like cliffhangers…this is a book /series to hold off on until all three books have been released.

UPDATE: actually - not really much to update. My feelings haven't really changed much since the first time I listened to this. The further we get into this couple, the less I liked them - although at this point I didn't hate them.

We ended the last book where Lia was attacked by her evil stepdad. She stays in the hospital for about the first 30% of the book. Then she goes home to recover up until the 50% mark. Of course, Lucian is her ever doting, loving partner and never leaves her side. Lia takes a while to recover from her attack, but she finally gets herself together and they move on. She discovers Lucian’s bad habit and she deals with it surprisingly well. We have to address the stupid "money" issue again and it's honestly so annoying. This ends on another cliffy when Lia learns Lucian has been keeping her parentage a secret.

SEX: It's still pretty decent, but not nearly as much since the first half of the book is all depressing and trauma. That said - I'm still not feeling a deep connection with these two, therefore the sex is getting stale.

CASSIE: Lucian still hasn't opened up to Lia about this. I do not like the way Aiden (Luc's BFF) deals with this and can’t believe Lucian still keeps him around. This is going to be a major problem at some point.

ROSE: Holy hell she’s hilarious!! She might have been my most favorite part of the book. I’m excited to read her story later on. Max and Rose as a couple are going to be awesome together! UPDATED: Syndey Landon ruins this couple and their story. Everything you love about them during this book is tossed out the window. I'm warning you now so you don't get your hopes up.

TRIGGERS: I think you know all the triggers, but I'll tell you again.

AUDIO: Sean Crisden is still narrating and you know how I feel about his nasal voice. You should read it instead. I honestly think this would get a higher rating from me if I stuck to reading.

I stumbled across this series and the first book was pretty okay. This is the second book in the series which was nice also. Not one for too much erotica but this series has just enough steaminess and drama that it is worth the listen. I still love the narrators for this series. My only drawback is the cliff hangers...

Good second book

I like this second book. Lots of things happening here. Lia finds out about her real dad. We get to know a little more about Cassie. But the thing about this type of series is that it feels like it just drags on. Now it is starting to feel like all the sex in the book is starting to feel a little like filler so the 5 star rating for me has gone down to 4 because I've had to purchase this second book when I felt this story could've been wrapped up in one. Now I still have to buy the last book to find out how it all turns out.

Even though Pierced didn't blow me away I had to listen to Fractured because of the cliffhanger ending with Lia being attacked by her step-father and Lucian not knowing if she was going to live or not.

Both Lucian and Lia was worried that the other one would not want the other sexually after Lia's attack. Lia was afraid Lucian wouldn't see her as sexy after her she told the police want her step-father did to her. Lucian was concerned Lia wouldn't want him because she would be distressed at the thought of being with him after her attack.

I was enjoying Fractured until all the sex came into the play. I'm over characters being sexy damaged and yet needing sex all the time. I've never been raped or sexually assaulted but I'm pretty sure I would not want sex around the clock just days after an attack.

I can see where Lucian and Lia would need two books to wrap up their issues to get to a HEA but I find them having three books a little contrite. They've worked through Lia's issues by the middle of the book and Lucian's secret could have been handled in the second half. But now we have an extra issue (or no issue we don't know yet) thrown in to lead us into a third book. I'm ready to move past Lucian and Lia to their friend's book (or books). I think I'm going to like Rose and Max.

So as I leave you, I'm on the fence about listening to the 3rd book, Mended.

Narration
Fractured  continues with switches POVs between Lucian and Lia. The first 1/4 of the Fractured is told through Lucian's POV due to Lia being in the hospital after the events at the end of Pierced.  Lucy Malone's performance grew on me after a few chapters when I listened to Pierced but I can easily say that I enjoyed Sean Crisden's performance the best out of the two narrators.

Over all I enjoyed the dual performances of Sean and Lucy and if I continue’s Lucian and Lia’s journey I'll do it on audio.

3.5 STARS

This picks up where book 1 left off

Lucian is a good guy (HOT) that is struggling with his own pain from the past, but he's protective and very supportive of Lia after everything she's been through...which is a lot! BTW...I HATE it when people call him "Luc" instead of Lucian....just doesn't work for me

Lia is a fighter..very strong and resilient. These two make a good pair.

Secrets are revealed, but I'm guessing the big one about Cassie will be revealed in book 3...which I will be reading when it's released in May.

There is some pretty steamy sex in this book

Last book ended on major cliffhanger. This book begins exactly where the first left off. Both Lucian and Lia are trying to get over what happened in first book. They also both discover some serious revelations in this as well. They become even closer than before which is nice to see. Both are still dealing with major hangups from their past. Some secrets are revealed but the major one will be in last book.

For my safety group friends, for me it is safe from cheating and triangles but I personally think of you are sensitive to the man whore or to them speaking about some of his past never in detail but is mentioned, just skip this series.

This series was recommended to me. Boy oh, Boy, this one is hot, funny and dirty sexy. The writing is hilariously witty! Lucien and Lia, are the perfect couple. Both are equally scared and scared. The first two broken people that I fell in love with. Lucien is in my top 20 Best Boyfriend and Aiden is the most loyal trusted friend. I totally recommend this series. It gut wrenching at time, but their powerful love will keep you awake. Have fun!!

Agony I have to wait until Spring to find out what happens next. Will Lia forgive Lucien? Will Lucien finally reveal his secrets to Lia? Will Rose sink her Annie Get Your Gun teeth into Max??? Fantastic series with lots more pieces of the puzzle to be revealed. Lucien is one hot Alpha BTW.

Part 2 in what should have been a two part series. Pierced is book one and in the Lucian and Lia series and I really liked it a lot. After reading it I thought this would be a two part series. Part one focuses on the heroine, Lia. She's led a tragic life but has let her horrendous circumstances make her stronger. She meets Lucian, a handsome billionaire, in a most bizarre way....I enjoyed this twist. Lucian is definitely an alpha male who gets what he wants but is continuously challenged by Lia. We know that Lucian has had something traumatic happen to him in his past and we are teased about it all through Pierced. This is a huge cliffhanger at the end of Pierced which left me so excited an anxious to read Fractured. But Fractured was not at all what I was expecting. Instead of resolving more of Lia's issues and delving deeper into Lucian's issues Ms. Landon drones on and on with the depressing storyline of Lia's life. Lia is constantly crying throughout the entire book, which given the circumstances is understandable but I felt her storyline was too drawn out and we didn't learn enough about Lucian. When we finally do begin to learn about Lucian near the end of the book it's then that I realized that this was going to be dragged out into a trilogy. To say I was disappointed would be putting it mildly. Still, there are a lot of intriguing twists leaving lots of unanswered questions. Hopefully book 3 will focus on Lucian and his problems and wrap up the whole story. I can't imagine there being a 4th book.
All in all a good book and I will definitely read the conclusion to this series.

I have to get this off my chest. The first book Earned five stars from me and if I could have given it more I would. BUT! Do you know what is worst then a DNF read?
A five star read that is RUINED by the last 2 to 3 chapters. Goodness if someone had warned me how horrible the ending would be of this second book I could of DNF this book from the beginning. Instead I was left with falling in love more and more with these characters until the end when I was left with a WTF expression on my face and not in the goodway. I admit after 50% to 60% into this I was alittle turned off by all of the cheap erotic scenes that had to happen every chapter. Sometimes too much is just TOO much. Especially when there is a real plot going on that has to be on pause so the characters can take their clothes off. But I was willing to look past this and started skimming through it to get back to the real story. (P.S. I know im ranting but stay with me people. Im just that mad right now) However the ending of a perfect story, the perfect book 2 of a series left alot to be desired.

Overall if you fell in love with book one then you have no choice but to read this book because the story is that amazing. Just be prepared to love it until the last few chapters when suddenly Lia becomes the most disappointing character ever. The way she handles finding out who her father is. The way she handles meeting her new cousin. she became very unlikable real quick in my eyes.

OMG, how much bad luck and drama can one person take in her life? Poor Lia has without doubt the worst family history I think I have ever read. But in saying that, it had me more on edge than I probably would. Although she is the token poor girl, taken in by the rich mogul to make her life better there is something else that has me hooked to want to read more about Lia and Lucian.

So as Fractured began Lia had been abducted by her evil step father and had done some serious damage to a woman who already has a world of evil and scars that no person should ever endure. Having been saved by a fellow Tennant she is hospitalized with even more horrible injuries. This has Lucian on tender hooks, realizing that the feelings he has for Lia is more than friends with benefits, he cannot bare to lose Lia and certainly not to the evil step father that has left permanent scars on her body.

Once she is woken up, she must then relive the horror of that afternoon, taking its toll on a damaged sole.... But if Lia thought that the attempted rape of her wasn't enough, she soon discovers more secrets that will certainly change her present, past and destined future with Lucian. Can she forgive Luc for the secrets and his past that he keeps hidden away or is this one the ending for Luc and Lia?

This book picks up with the aftermath of Lia's step-fathers attack on her. Right out the gate, there are some eye rolling moments. Like who the hell is going to let someone with a catheter, IV and bandaged wounds get out of a hospitial bed to take a shower? Also, she has broken bones, scratches, bruises, etc. but she wasn't raped, so why the hell would she want to endure the pain of a shower? More eye rolling with her constant need to know what happened with Casey. It's none of her business. What will her knowing change? Then, the stupidity of Lucian not telling her about her father. No real reason for that. If she was strong enough to have sex after nearly being raped, she was strong enough to handle that news and might have been more receptive to it. Then the constant beat over the head that she "might" be pregnant. OK, we know! All signs point to her being pregnant, geesh! I have to admit this one was actually harder to get through even though there was more action because there sooo many eye rollers. But...I'm curious to see where they go from here since Casey is responding to treatment, so on to book 3 I go.

Read this years ago… just trying to clean up my shelves. (I didn’t re-read so I’m not touching my rating.

This is he second book of the Lucian and Lia, and much the same… which is cut from the same FSoG/Crossfire cloth so if those are not your cuppa…pass. This one also ends in a cliffy. It picks up right after the last one with Lia in the hospital after being beaten badly and nearly raped by her evil stepfather. Lucian’s swimming in guilt and determined to protect her.

We finally get the Cassie backstory, and he finds out who Lia’s real dad is, but Luc’s keeping secrets. Seriously has he never read a book or watched a movie??!! Secrets never work out. Much of this book is wading through Lia’s issues…and she cries… A LOT. Which I can sympathize with, but she still cries a lot, so it’s kinda depressing.

Bottom Line- much of the same…secrets, lies and sex. There’s another book, and the series is starting to lag. I’m ready to move on to new characters.

Wow! No matter how hard Lucian tries to protect Lia, she still falls into danger. After 5 days in the hospital, Lia goes home but her mind and her body are a mess. Then her powerful, long lost biological father turns up and his identity is a shocker! Instead of Lucian sharing the information with Lia, he keeps yet another secret. Bad move! In the midst of all this madness, Rose, Lia's best friend and Lucian's lawyer, Max, are laugh out loud hilarious!
