Bob Blanton has been an avid reader ever since his mother first took him to a library at age five. He has toyed with writing for years since college but was always too busy to start a novel. The "stone series" developed almost by itself as he was trying to sleep on long flights to Asia and Europe. He managed to write it and two follow-on novels while he was working, but never had the time to polish them. After he retired to the beach in Mexico, the only thing that competes with writing is the sound of the ocean and sunsets over the water. Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading them as much as he has had writing them. Check back for other books as he continues to ply his new trade.

Now that he has published his series, he hopes you enjoy reading about Matthew and his developing powers as much as he has enjoyed writing about them.

I just blew through all the books in this series (1-9 as I’m certain more are coming). As a result I am doing one review for all the books. The top item is: these books are significantly better than 95% of self-published books. Book one is by far the worst of the series and it is still okay. Book one’s main problem is that it lacks story resolution, something I hate and generally do not forgive. Here, however, the author tells a more character driven story which reduces the need for a firm resolution. In fact another review for book 9 caught my eye and it was complaining about a lack action, something I would typically complain about as well but did not even consider as the development of the characters was fascinating.

After book one the author uses a recipe: resolve main story but end on a teaser for the next book. Personally I find using teasers a bad idea as it distracts from the story just told. It also seems to me that a truly competent author would not require teasers as readers would come back for more without them. Oddly enough I am reminded of Lilian Jackson Braun’s “Cat Who” series. It was also character driven and yet she never felt the need to end one of her books with a teaser for the next book (and I read this entire series even though I am not a mystery reader).

Bottom line: good, enjoyable books.

This book series is a never ending set of unbelievable events/problems that are miraculously solved in 10 minute meetings or by a 13 year old. "Want to move an asteroid into earth orbit, no problem says the 13 year old - "why didn't I think of that" said the trained professions.

This series of books, basically a space soap opera, features a group of scientists who discover an alien space ship and use its powers and technologies to better the entire human race. In it, China is initially belligerent but becomes something of an ally after a single military showdown. Meanwhile, the true axis of evil is the United States, presided over by a megalomaniac who is very obviously a thinly disguised President Trump. While the writing isn't bad, Im happy it's free to read on Amazon. The author, Bob Glanton is very obviously of the Orange Man bad mindset and I think he may well believe that given such circumstances, Trump would destroy the nation with constant military attacks against this group of technological do gooders, who have solved the problem of how to make the Green New Deal work. No fossil fuels, no pollution, etc. Please... can we leave political posturing and campaigning for AOC out of the SF theatre?

A great series so far

I find this series quite enjoyable, and while a touch star trek idealistic, in that all it takes is technology and good people to solve all problems, it is well written and a great read.

And just like TDS exists for left leaning people, what I call WDS or Woke derangement syndrome exist for far right people, but unlike hollywood who often pick an issue and try to write a weak story around it, be is climate change, racial or gender issues, this author imho at least is doing it right.

It is an engaging story with well fleshed out characters you can empathize with whole happen to be dealing with the above issues as necessary issues for the greater story. Ie. They are primarily issues being settled to drive the story of Mankind's entry in a spacefaring society and not the other way around.

My only criticism is that book 3 declares the Last Jedi to be a good movie.... Sigh.. Hollywood needs to learn they can literally create anystory without tearing down foundational role models of peoples childhoods. Yes I meant this last paragraph sarcastically and jokingly .. But Luke and blue breast milk is all I gotta say.😋

Mok's review

The premise of the story is good I enjoyed it. What I do not enjoy is the author's unrealistic depiction of peoples cultures and their economies. He does not seem to understand that the third world is the third world not because the first and second world is stealing their resources. But is the third world because their culture is s#!+.

In the first book he'll make a part of his story where sex slavery is quite prevalent in the Middle East and exist because of the culture. The so-called good Muslim working for the child trafficker of sex slaves. Was pointed out quite clearly in the first book. And yet here in the third book he's talking about how all of their problems and issues are due to economic woes and hardships. He'll point out political corruption in the first book and in the third book talk about how it's all about resource management. The author himself is not consistent in his writing. He cannot seem to keep his story points clear. This is the thing I dislike most about his story it's inconsistency in keeping on topic.

Blanton, Bob. Delphi Station. Delphi in Space No. 3. Kindle, 2019.
It turns out that if you want to build a space station large enough to hold thousands of people in near-earth orbit, you are going to have to shove some asteroids into a nearby orbit. To do that, teenage Catie and an all-woman crew, including two preteen twin sisters with talent in freefall gymnastics, make the first crewed flight to the asteroid belt. Every teen girl would like to have parents so easy to manipulate into a road trip like that. At home, politics go on as usual as the company builds its utopian floating city. On the international front, the superpowers and the North Koreans would all like to steal a piece of the pie. The American president, who is all-too easy to recognize from recent history, is especially irksome. The series continues to entertain. 3.5 stars.

A good story and easy read. The only thing I saw as a downer was at times the book got into a lot of detail on things happening. For example, when they were testing on the planes the copilot was calling off altitude and speed and fuel reserves about every 10 seconds for a whole page of reading. I like the level of excitement in the book as they try to accomplish what they want to do without letting the US and other countries know where they are getting the technology. I especially like the US President about to "bust a gut" not knowing what's going on and not being able to do anything about it.

PS: took me a long time to finish the book only because I just did not do any reading for a few weeks.

Getting preachy

If you're buying "global cooling, global warming, climate change, the earth has only 12 years before it's destroyed," then you might enjoy this series. Bob lost me when he brought in the environmental fantasies that have been preached by loonies since the 60's. Every prediction of global extinction has been wrong in the past and present.

I was enjoying this series up til now. Nice entertainment with a good story line. Character development is good, for the most part, a little light in some areas but, Catie is a highlight if a little unbelievable. But, this is Science FICTION. I'm not happy that it's been ruined for me.

Fantastic!

What a great and wonderful story! Not as Suspensful as I would have hoped and the typos are distracting but the book was still great if not very believable. " A child shall lead them" as the saying goes but a girl of 12 yrs being able to pilot a spaceship and the mission she took them on, is a bit unbelievable knowing what our astronauts go through to be ready for space. I realize that with the help of alien technology and the use of their ships and equipment helps, but come on.... I do look forward to the next installment of this series and have to believe it will be even better.

Good book but losing momentum in interest

Will be honest, while this book continues to be good from the last book, it began to lose interest.
The beginning was great but I kinda began to lose interest when it got to the part where the girls go to space and how Catie is acting through out the book.
Still it recovered it's interest when it got to the ending and it's cliffhanger left me with wanting to know what happens next.

In the end, this was still a good book.

Will still give the next book a read.

This is a good read in this continuing saga.

Blanton is an unusual writer. He ignores some conventions of story design, he uses jeopardy lightly, his situations and time frames do push one’s suspension of disbelief, yet he somehow keeps this a fun romp. I enjoyed this read and look forward to the next. Oh…yeah…he still has trouble with a few words like between and among, but his editor should be fried for missing those. Nearly all writers make grammatical mistakes, that’s what editors are for.

Spacing Out

Marc and crew are expanding Delphi City and starting to build the space station. However, threats from big governments have to be dealt with to continue their goal of uplifting earth's technology and prepare for the arrival of the aliens. Catie, Marx's precocious 14 year old daughter, is fun to watch as her quick mind helps them solve problems. I like the action, humor, strategy and mild romance. I look forward to the next book.

Heading into space...with a cliffhanger!

Ah, another fun step getting humanity closer to the stars...if the United States would just let Marc do what he wants without interfering. I realized that the pacing and development of this plot might not be for everyone. It really focuses on civic development more than action, but Blanton does a good job of balancing everything. I'm looking forward to the next book!

This is my favorite type of of story humans converting alien technology

I loved the first few books. Then you used the story to push the social justice warrior mantras that we get every single day on CNN. Please please please save your fake virtue Signaling for whatever Star bucks you hang out in. I hope you can find a way to leave out the ridiculous preaching that makes a alien story less believable. Good luck.fixing any of your future stories.

Action is heating up!

Mr. Blanton has gotten all the foundational building done that his protagonists needed to move his story along. Now he is adding more interesting characters and leading up to a lot more action in the future.
The only problem I have with this volume is that I think he seriously underestimates the capabilities and tenacity of the Chinese to gather intelligence and act on it. But this is fiction, so that's the author's choice.

Delphi series

Another good read in this series by Bob Blanton. Earth governments are becoming aware of the implications of the product introductions by Mckenzie Discoveries. The space station has also been spotted by earth. The risk to our main characters increases. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Ok. I can’t take anymore

I gave it two books, which was probably one and a half books too much. I sorta knew what to expect having read some of the more realistic reviews. Seriously, you go from finding a spaceship to starting a space station in less than a year? Give me a break. And that’s while building a floating city at the same time. Prepare to suspend all disbelief.

Just keeps getting better!

I'm getting more and more impressed with this series. I've never seen some of the ideas in this series anywhere else. It's the kind of ideas that make you say hey I could have thought of that but didn't. And most important I just keep having fun with it.

Too funny

You made Trump the President. Perfect for a little realism. Sadly But as a blustering buffoon you nailed it. Along with the selfish greedyness. Oh if it was only true. That's why these books are so fun. A little get back, or revenge is fun even when it's only through a book. Still feels good. Thanks

Back to the story

I put this series down as the story got lost IMO. I was wrong. It has a nice pace and I can’t wait to see how the ship weaponry gets added. I am not a fan of the addition of “Islamic” section, and didn’t see the point. Overall I think MC and team have work to do. Can’t wait to see.

I just can't stand it.... It feels written by a 10 yo... There's no depth... Some interesting ideas to explore but the delivery is sooooo lame that is incredible I read up to the 3rd...if this was a movie it'll be in the late morning of Saturday..... Everything is so staged and leaning towards the main characters....

A very interesting read

The MC, his bro & daughter's company continue to build a city, high tech air transports and then a space station. They roll out consumer products and medical procedures. This obviously causes disruptions to the status quo and goverments get involved. The book ends in a cliff hanger.

Love it!

More character development in this book paired with significant story advancement makes this book a great addition to the series. You'll want to read this one in order, after the first two, but if you do pick up this one first, you can probably still enjoy it, just with some of the previous story elements not making sense until later in the book.

The book started well, but the middle got a bit bogged down in the day-to-day trivia. There was a little more excitement towards the end, including an annoying cliff-hanger ending.
At times the story is a bit ridiculous, but it is still a fun read and I really like Catie.

I little too much dialog in this episode. Some technical issues in the chapter on prepping an asteroid to be moved into a different orbit, mostly because of too much detail that didn't advance the story. Still, another good book in the series.

Classic Serial

The story continues to keep me entertained, though I do admit I have lowered my expectations. The series is firmly in the YA genre, and each book ends with a classic cliffhanger.

The series continues as the previous enjoyable volumes with the world view expanding with each. We are now in space building a orbital station and improving on the alien technology found in the first volume. Still thoroughly enjoying apart from the occasional over done explanations.

Holes big enough to drive a bus through

Dispite the holes, like shipping a 35 meter yacht anywhere, this was an entertaining and fun read. It's predictable, but I didn't care. I liked it. Sue me.

Bit too out there

Just not realistic in any way, taking women and children refugees to be manufacturing workers? And they don’t speak english....then there is taking 2 ten year olds into space?? And a 13yr old running the job.
