'You're asking me to hold your hand. And now you're turning away from me. You are saying something but I can't hear you. It's too windy. You're crying now. Now you're smiling. I'm done. I love you . . .'

It's been two years since Raghu left his first love, Brahmi, on the edge of the roof one fateful night. He couldn't save her; he couldn't be with her. Having lost everything, Raghu now wants to stay hidden from the world.
However, the annoyingly persistent Advaita finds his elusiveness very attractive. And the more he ignores her, the more she's drawn to him till she bulldozes her way into an unlikely friendship.
What attracts at first, begins to grate. Advaita can't help but want to know what Raghu has left behind, what he's hiding, and who broke his heart. She wants to love him back to life, but for that she needs to know what wrecked him in the first place.
After all, the antidote to heartache is love.

Seriously guys, don't read the last page - just tear the last page off from this book and pretend like it never existed. Well what should I say about this book?! It's one of those novels in which you can't put the book down and is so fucking excited to see what happens next, but gets spoiled in the end.

I loved each and every page of this book except for the Last part. Durjoy Datta has written this novel in such a realistic way. Everything that happens in this novel seemed so real to me. I could see the characters, especially regu and advaita so clear, along with the slums where Altaf lived, the house of advaita etc. I was hoping to give it a 5 star if weren't for the Last page. The last page, I think, completely ruins the entire story. Maybe the last part has been written with intention of publishing its next sequel but I'm not gonna buy it. Durjoy Datta shouldn't have ruined this beautiful story like that.

Durjoy Datta is known to satisfy the nerves of his fans and he does it with ease in his recent outing, The Boy with a Broken Heart. It is the sequel of The Boy who Loved. The first novel in the series has left the readers with too many questions and expectations. The Boy with a Broken Heart is the perfect sequel to the former.

What works well in the sequel is its characterization. Readers can easily attach to the characters. The background of each character is penned perfectly. The lead characters would live in every readers mind. When the characters become emotional the readers can feel the same. That’s Durjoy’s first boundary.

*A CAPTIVATING READ*
3.5/5

As I've ended up devouring this sequel to the book which left me curious beyond anticipation, I feel shocked to the bone, and somewhat disappointed with the unexpectant cliffhanger!

The cover is extremely beautiful and doesn't fail in luring one to the book.

The story unfolds mending of Raghu's wrecked life through the help of Advaita - a girl who confides in hope, even though leading a life not scarce of miseries. She is intrigued by Raghu, their coincidental meetings give rise to their friendship, and eventually love.

I rejoiced the characters' diary entries, though melancholic numerous times. The book was of the kind one cannot put down till the end, I was no exception. The author beautifully accentuates relationships like friendship and sisterhood, while unveiling the heinous acts practiced in some parts of the society. As far as the writing skills are concerned, I am absolutely smitten by those of Durjoy Dutta's , and this book just adds to it.

I would definitely recommend it and suggest you to keep up, for the first few pages can be slightly difficult to dive deep.
All the same, be assured that you are in for a captivating read.

"𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚."

Wtf!
I AM IN SHOCK. NOT SURPRISED. IN SHOCK!
I AM DUMBSTRUCK. I literally sat in shock for 5-6 minutes. I mean what? Plllleeeaaaaassseee tell me there's a next book coming in this series!!!!!! HOW CAN IT HAPPEN?!?! MY GOD!
(Yeah, this was my reaction at the end of this book.)

🍀Okay so this was my 14th book by Durjoy Dutta. It's a sequel to the "The Boy Who Loved". And THIS BOOK. Whoa! This is the best of Durjoy till now.

🌾Durjoy Dutta NAILED IT with this book!🙌🏻

☘️I think, over time, he has gotten better at writing. He has written it in such a realistic way.

✍🏻This one is also in a form of diary, but this time it's not Raghu but Advaita, who's writing it.

~
🏵️So this sequel begins with a girl named Advaita Vaid who lives in Dehradun with her family - Ma-pa, her sister, Dada(Grandpa), Bua(Her father's sisters), her husband and their two sons, and her father's brother.

🍂Her grandpa and Bua make their life hell in every possible way. They are abusive- verbally, mentally and physically.

🍃There's a boy who catches Advaita's attention by being strange. And it's none other than Raghu.
Yes, he's still running from the tragedies and pain life gave him.
The more he ignores her, the more she wants to know about him.
They become friends, then Advaita's Grandpa and Aunt's tortures only increases by the time with her and her parents.

🍁End of the book was like.... I seriously have no words. You HAVE TO read the book to know how Raghu and Advaita handles everything or they don't?

🌀I really hated how Advaita and her family were tortured by their own relatives. It mustn't have been easy for him to write about such people. Because of course there are people who do worse than what Durjoy has portrayed in the book.

🙏🏻In the name of religion people have become monsters. They can see people die/or even kill them to protect their religion, status and what else? To what extent this will go?
It's a topic which really annoy me and I won't stop once I start writing so let's leave this topic now and focus on the book.

☀️As I started reading the last chapter...and WHAT I READ AFTER A FEW LINES...a chill of shock swept over me and goosebumps sprang over my arms. What came in last few lines🙌🏻 I seriously couldn't have even dreamed of seeing it coming. End part is full of ups and downs. You WILL BE glued till the end of the book.

🌿It's a perfect sequel.

I didn't know about the writer nor the book prior to my trip to India. I was at a bookshop at New Dehli Airport and I went crazy over how the books were selling at very affordable prices. Then, there is this section that show the 'Best Seller', and that's how I got to know Durjoy Datta's sequel 'The Boy with A Broken Heart'. Despite its labelled as a Romance Novel, the story has more to share about the traditional Indian culture which are prevalent till this date. It is saddening to read at times and I felt fortunate I was not living in the undesirable state.

The prequel of this book i.e. 'the boy who loved' ends at a very astonishing note. The unexpected ending added much to my already developed liking for the intricately articulated storyline. Raghu, who lost his beloved brother in an accident caused due to gas leak in his own house, was devastated to the extent he couldn't even express. All his hopes and dreams of a happy family along with Brahmi have came crashing down.

The second book brings in a new story along with a new character Advaita Vaid. Being the granddaughter of a well known haemopethic, she should have been technically leading a beneficial life. But unfortunately she was the victim of the most dreadful and abominable sufferings. She, in addition to her parents and an elder sister was treated worse than animals. Her grandfather and her aunt made them live like servants in their own house on the pretext of her mother belonged from an untouchable class. Her father, against her grandfather's orthodox mindset, married an untouchable woman, which was the prime reason for their hatred against her family. Even after many years, they didn't stop inflicting their harsh decisions. Her mother being considered the only reason, was forced to clean septic tanks and work till long hours like a maid. Advaita and her sister Divya desperately wanted to take avenge for the all traumas they have to had face in their life, but all their efforts to get rid of this threatening situation go in vain.

Advaita, while going through her miserable life met a boy full of enigma. Rumours were spread that he eloped from Delhi to hide his bad deeds. The more she tried to avoid him, the more she got pulled towards his self righteous behavior. Sooner, they formed an alliance as they derived solace in each other's company. There after it continues with the plans being made secretly for their ultimate purpose of escaping. I didn't like the way the story unfolds at the end. After completing a major part with piqued interest, reaching to such a conclusion was not expected to me. Also unlike the first part, this one seems more exaggerated to me. More focus was given on adding dramatic events rather than the sensitive issues. The plot is stretched unnecessarily and even after Durjoy's effort to make it as good as the previous one, it didn't come out well for me.

My Rating- 3.3/5

I have read almost every book by Durjoy sir and have always loved his books. It's only by reading his books that I came up with the love for reading.
After reading "The Boy Who Loved" I was eagerly waiting for" The Boy With A Broken Heart" .
With every word that I read I could imagine how Raghu looked now and how he met Advaita. It felt like I was there with them in the story, like I was a part of it myself. Durjoy sir know well how to play with words and put them on the paper in such a way that the story never leave only the reader's head but heart too 💕.
I just loved the novel so much.
The last line made me even more curious to know how things are going to take place further.
Would be eagerly waiting for the another part. Hope it comes up soon because I also want to know where Raghu has disappeared.

this is a masterpiece. it was so fucking relatable at some points and so infuriating at some.

it hurts so see that the world out there is cruel up to a point where evil and satanic are just a thin line apart.

my heart feels heavy as i write this i didn't expect it to end on a cliff hanger.

I'm speechless that i don't know how to write what i feel.

both the mmc and fmc's friendship really made me believe in platonic soulmates.

the darkness of this book made me realise that some families are on a really different type of toxic level. and it really sucks.

i need more. like i need to know if they return back to india, or if raghu is alive and what happens to the rest of their family? there's so many questions in my mind.

After reading "The Boy Who Loved" I was eagerly waiting for" The Boy With A Broken Heart" .

To be frank I didn't expect the story to begin with totally different plot n characters it was hard to believe that it is the sequel of the boy who loved however then Raghu the main character eventually comes in there. I felt like finishing the book ASAP as it seemed interesting then only and in the last few paragraphs the previous book n this one is connected narrating what happened with Raghu n Raghu's family after Bramhi jumps off .... The Story is Excellent. I Must say "EXTRAORDINARY WRITING by EXTRAORDINARY WRITER".

Oh my my.... Durjoy never fails to surprise you now does he? It's been quite some days since I finished the book and I still can't get it off my mind... The boy with a broken heart keeps you at the edge of your seat... It satisfies your craving to read different genres from romance to social evils to mystery and thriller in just 327 pages! I was thinking it to be just another love story where the girl dies in the first book and the guy falls in love with another girl and they live happily ever after in the next... But as I said... Durjoy never fails to surprise you... And it's the unpredictable twists and turns that keep you wanting for more.

Coming to the book with the broken heart.. advaita and raghu have become the two words that defines friendship.... The book is definitely notputdownable.
You have beautifully described about the pure love , friendship ,care and the most important topic how the people still discriminate between hindu and Muslims . I really don't have much words to describe about this book but when I started reading this book I had feel that pain and love somewhere in my heart for raghu and many more that I can't describe . And the best part was the twist at the end .

It must be that There will be Coming another Sequel ... Cause Bramhi Seems to be Alive n we will see probably a love

triangle Between Raghu , Advita n Brahmi ... We will have to wait to see whom Raghu Choose n what happens at last. The

last line made me even more curious to know how things are going to take place further.

In this sequel Durjoy Datta has tried fusing several different themes while narrating Raghu's story two years after Brahmi leapt off the terrace and committed suicide. I appreciate his efforts and can't help say that his writing keeps getting more mature with every book now.
Durjoy Datta didn’t disappoint me. The book kept me interested even when my eyelids were falling down and the credit goes to his writing. I would have loved it more if not for that poor climax. Anyhow, it is a quick read and kept me glued. The series should have ended here, but who knows what he has in store for us?

The book started on a totally different story,i personally thought that it will be a sequel to the first book 'The boy who loved'. It is a sequel though but from a different point of view. The plot was also interesting to read and it gave a unique angle to the story. A perspective of a girl, her life and the idea over life and how she helps the boy to overcome his sorrow. If you haven't read the earlier book, it is okay to go directly to this one. As the glances from the first book are aslo mentioned in the book. Overall the book is a fast read. Aslo end of the story is to be continued in his next book. Waiting for the next.

The cover of this book about beautiful and stunning and I hoped that the story would also will be the same. And for me it was. This book is a sequel to "The Boy Who Loved" (but I didn't know this and read the sequel first instead...ever happened with you?)
.
.
.
The story is of Advaita a child to a Brahim handicapped Dad and a lower caste mother, living in a family of full pathetic people. The struggles and injustice that she and her elder sister and parents face in their joint family house shows us how the people belonging to lower family is still being treated in India today. The book is in a form of a dairy written by Advaita about her life and her friendship with Raghu who's story is being continued from the earlier book. Advaita and Raghus friendship is soo beautiful shown by the author. We can see Raghu's character who is known as the 'the boy with a heart" character progress as his and Advaita's friendship grows.
.
.
.
Advaita's optimistic nature is what I loved the most and her daring and fierce character too. Raghu is shown as a tough and mysterious guy who rarely smiles. Now as their story progress Advaita discovers some shocking truths about Raghu's past whereas Raghu we get to know later had already fallen for Advaita for a really long time. Towards the end Advaita is seen as juggling between her whether she is in love for Raghu or he is just a Best Friend for her.

There are really some very interesting twist and turns in this book but the most interesting twist for me was the last dairy that Advaita wrote. It left me absolutely shunned and @durjoydatta please tell me if there is gonna be a third book because I desperately want to know whats store for Advaita and Raghu.

Though the book is set in 2003 it has highlight the issues sucha as religious conflicts and beliefs, orthodox mentality, bad treatment towards lower castes and females, and also views on homosexuality.

THIS BOOK HAS MY HEART. 4.9 stars for sure.
I haven't really been a huge fan of Indian authors because of the extremely society-influenced books they write, but Durjoy Datta somehow managed to blow my mind away with this book.
The way the author used Hindi slangs, described characters in a typically desi way, brought out the problems of an Indian household that's way too backward for its own good, was absolutely provocative.
I am IN LOVE with the way the lead male character was described. The author made him wear kurtas, drive scooties, carry walkmans, fly kites with bloody hands, and make the most devouring tea ever. Being an Indian, this would actually be the type of guy I would want, but I can't say the same for everyone.
This book focuses on not only on the aspect of love and heartbreak - as suggested by the title, but also on the problems some women still have to face in India. The pressure of society and the conflicts in a family driven by the caste system are way too prominent and bring out the real essence of the book.
The friendship both the main characters hold with each other is absolutely beautiful and even though the readers might not root for them as a couple, their relationship is something no one would ever want to change.
I recommend you to read the prequel of this book 'the boy who loved' before you read 'the boy with a broken heart'. It may affect your feelings for the main character but in the long run- for the third upcoming book, you'll understand the importance of the relationship showcased in the first book.
Overall, this book is something that touched my heart and is forever going to stay with me. However, I believe that someone who understands the problems and aspects of the Hindu culture would connect a lot more to this book than someone who didn't grow up surrounded by the weirdly toxic atmosphere of some places in India.
But without any doubt, I am so so so glad I found this book, and I truly believe I will cherish the series of books based on Raghu Ganguly's life FOREVER.

The boy with broken heart : Part 2 just come to end and this part is full of ups and down, mostly gloomy and with a melancholy and sadness it's all the from love to friendship, action to romance, pervertness , and caring nature, family issue and turmoil breaking of the bond with family, and teh down trodded thinking of people this novels show the wide variety of subjects, short coming of society with their orthodox thinking destroy lifes of many who are innocent, the egos of family Belong to high cases, male shovenished society egos all we shown in it, but the path is to find a way out of it...
The story about a family for whom fake pride is more important then their own children happiness, a family with pride about being belong to high caste but life have it's way to make people realise only caste can't get you family happiness. The greed , the orthodox believe , racism, fake pride, hunger for money and power. In all this children of the house got messed up and the bitterness of their parents get to them, a rebel girl take it all and she challenge there egos and rubbed it quite few times and to take revenge and bend there head low she did something she has to do for her family, our hero Raghu , lost his love but after Delhi he settled in dehradun and started classes to teach IIT to students and his friendship with Advaita make him a better person and she comes to know about his past and his love and later when the beat down moment came the brothers who family things to be a black spot joined hand for there loved ones safety , things started falling to place , and Raghu friends came to his rescue, and they saved but in the end when Meghnad provoke to get revenge from Advaita , and Raghu did something that Arundhati might have faced and take his revenge on him for his beat down. Hello Folks !!!!
Here is my book review on "The boy with a broken heart" by Durjoy Dutta. It's a sequel to the book "The boy who loved". 🍂🍂🍂
.
.
.
The story starts with a girl named Advaita, she talks about her daily struggles with her family members. Her aunt (buaji) and Grandfather never missed any chance to humiliate her family and specially her mother because she belonged to a lower caste.
🍂
Advaita was used to such kind of life , gulping down humiliation from her relatives, each and every day. She had become immune to daily taunts, until one day, when she meets Raghu.
🍂
When she sees Raghu, she feels an instant connection with him. She wanted to know everything about Raghu , his past and what were the circumstances that brought him to Dehradun from Delhi.
🍂
Her efforts didn't go in vain as gradually Raghu and Advaita become good friends. Advaita had one quality in her which Raghu knew he didn't have and that was Hope of living a better life than the past and present. Advaita never lost hope for a beautiful life as she believed that one day her life will change for good. This quality of Advaita made Raghu fall for her but a dreadful incident from his past still haunts him.
🍂
🍂
🍂
Will Advaita ever get to know about his past ?
And if she gets to know about his past, will she find a way to make his life better and worth living ?
Read the book to get the answers.
🍂
🍂
🍂
This is a story about friendship, trust, love and betrayal.
🍂
🍂
🍂
The ending of this book is very disappointing, the author could have given a better ending to this book. Among the two, in my opinion , book 1 is much better than the book 2.
🍂
I have many questions after reading the second book and I hope the author writes a third book very soon.
🍂

Durjoy left the readers standstill, while Brahmi Sharma jumped from the terrace the boy who loved,Raghu was helpless and couldn't save his love and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
The Boy with broken heart is the sequel of The Boy who loved. The story begin with different plot with entirely different characterization. The characters are very sound and interestingly joined all the dots at end. Durjoy once again attempted much sensitive issues and wonderfully depicted the life of a miserable and lovable family. The author elaborately penned his thoughts about the typical, traditional and orthodox upper caste Indian Family and their atrocities on poor and innocent people. The novel right from the beginning filmed the various oppressions especially by male chauvinistic society on women. This novel is the mixture of love, emotions, happiness, male domination , pervertness etc I could say .While reading the book, the readers could feel the unbearable pain as well as unconditional love of #Advaita and #Raghu. Unexpectedly at the very end again Durjoy left with twists and suspense.Believe me Durjoy never disappoints and once u started reading, the flow of story will take u away to different world.
I m sure the sequel of The boy with broken heart is coming. Seriously awaiting ....

THE BOY WHO LOVED

Author : Durjoy Datta

Genre : Fiction

‘ The boy who loved ’ is the story of Raghu Ganguli who lives in Delhi with his family. The story is written in the form of his diary . In the beginning , we can see a boy who is unable to fight his guilt for not saving his best friend. The guilt killing him slowly and painfully everyday until he comes across Brahmi .

THE BOY WITH A BROKEN HEART
It's been two years since Raghu left his first love Brahmi.

The story is not only discussing the love between two people but also the Indian family drama . Story gives us a clear picture of Caste obsessed society, How people values caste more than happiness and Climax of the story was unpredictable.

This is a marvelous book with a enchanting story which makes you hold the book for more and more time. The more you read the more you go deep in the story.this book is mixed with friendship, love, affection, caste discrimination and how the privileges are divided between boys and girls in a village family. The story starts with a girl Advaita who is one of the main characters of the story, the girl who made us to reveal the story of Raghu.Their story shows the face of society which is a black spot on humanity.
A strong girl Advaita and a boy with a broken heart Raghu made me feel to imagine every little act of them. The way our society thinks is penned down in a society. It is must read one to have a feel that we should break the evil society barriers. The topic of homosexuality is also picked up in this story. So if I say this book is full of inspiration, society barriers, greed, love and sacrifice. The way of writing is a great one and an easily read, very much unique story. The end is unpredictable which made it a unique story. To tell the truth I really hated the ending. Anyway I can say it made me the fan of Durjoy Dutta.

The Boy with the broken heart is sequel to
The Boy Who Loved . The story continue with the new characters , here Advaita is putting down everything . This book is mixture of emotions and mirror to the reality of society and it is equally gloomy and poignant just like the previous book .

Though the ending has been left in suspense with final twist indicating it will have third part . One great point was everything seems to be stable and justice has been served and miseries has been end .

The way author play with words will leave mark not only in your heart but in your head too . With rollercoaster of emotions and tragedy it holds a curiosity for readers to know how things are going to take place further .

The cover of the book is Captivating and classy . Plots go really well with the title . I would highly recommend this book to those who love to get engage with love stories and suspense .

I read two books during last ten days written by these two semi celebrated mediocre Indian authors..
I stole Shrilaaji ( I left a another book in place) after I ran out of books in Goa and then I had to go buy the nightmare written by Durjoy Dutta in Porbandar from the only book store of town ( sad reality though) best book available was this ( I won’t get in to which other books were available though...now I feel I should have bought them instead, most of them were by well known genius writers Savitabhabhi and Mast Maula 🤫)
Dutta’s book felt like reading a daily soap opera’s script, Srilaaji is a vulgar b rated book without the spice ( I am sure Savitaji would beat Srilaaji any day with heavy margins 😝 )
Though I believe one should read irrespective of good and bad. Bad reading will help appreciate the good ones ( sounds like a life rule 😉 ) I think I am done with my worst books reading spree.

This is more a beware note than review.

this is my first book of Durjoy datta works. Although i didnt read the prequel i pretty much understood it...beginning with synopsis of love and exploring through the hindu-muslim conflicts, LGBT issues, pride and prejudices of older people in the then societies of india, i think the author did a good job. Money place a very important role in everyone's life. But what that money can do to an individual is explained through buaji's life. She,a filial girl who went to the extent to burn herself to protect her mother , became so greedy for money that she tortured her ow family. And then there are characters like advaita , her sister who i found refreshing.Overall i liked it and never expected it to end like that.(Not that it has any big impact).
looking forward to his other works

First of all, It takes a while to grasp what is happening in the story, specially after reading the first book. And when you finally catch on it, the book has a lot to say. Secondly, It focuses on different kind of social issues that happens in the society. It was such a good page-turner. I couldn't keep it down because all I could think of was, what's gonna happen next!! And lastly, I have to say this. If you've read the first book, you'd have a pile of questions about it. Don't read this book if you want answers to all or any of them. Because trust me, this book just adds on to the pile. Everything except the last couple pages was the best part of the book. At the end, I'm left confused, shattered, overwhelmed with emotions, and I don't know what just happened!

Review: The story is all set in small place in Dehradun where Advaita has grown up. The story basically revolves around her life in details, how she meets Raghu and how she pesters him into friendship. Will she be able to break the wall or she herself stumbles.

When I started reading the book, I felt this is quite different to the romantic books I have read of Durjoy and if it goes like this, it will be mediocre at its best. But what an end, thats what was missing in the book and it made me cry. What did I expect from Durjoy. The End 25% covers what’s missing from 75% of the book. The Book also made me realise that I am lucky to be born in a city and didn’t have to go through what Advaita had too.

The negative in the book will be lack of anything in the first half, due to being his fan and read all his books I was disappointed because nothing was happening. The author was just describing the monotonous life.

Overall The ending made the book perfect.

I've survived my school life with Durjoy Datta's romantics. 💕. Also I got the second book as a gift from my brother, never knew brothers give gifts too🤪

The book revolves around Raghu who lost his girlfriend Brahmi and lost all hopes from life and wanted to stay hidden, and then there's Advaita who trys to dig out Raghu's past. She wants to love him back to life, but for that she needs to discover what wrecked him in the first place. It touches the various aspects of India's problems- homosexuality, problems occurring in the households due to inter caste marriage, religious difficulties, Hindu Muslim riots, gay partners etc. I admit I did cry several times while reading the book🥺. Re reading them just makes you love them more and more!

2024 is already wild because this book made me crush on Raghu fucking Ganguly(???) Also no news of the third book being released any time soon :)
Durjoy Datta loves making me miserable.

Okay, here's the review: the second book clicked with me better than the first book and of course it did. The second book's protagonist, Advaita, is a much more interesting character in my opinion than a much younger Raghu who is the protagonist in the first book. However, I did not expect Raghu's character growth behind the scenes. It was so intriguing to read about him from the perspective of someone who knew nothing about him.
Took off one star because of some of the insanely dramatic, cheesy and bollywood-coded lines that made me roll my eyes all the way back to my head.

Wow such an improvement to read. Much better than the first book. The first book was totally unstable with all the problems of Raghu and Brahmi. But the second book... Yes it too had problems with Advaita but still the character development of Advaita was much better than Brahmi. Advaita's sister divya, her parents and her toxic family and how she's carefree but careful about the toxicity. And the hope that Advaita carries is nothing compared Brahmi and Raghu hope. The cliff hanger at the end of the book was just sooo much amazing like bro what???? But when will they release the next book??? It's been years since the release of first 2 books. I hope I read the third book before my death..
Truly loved Advaita and definitely shocked by Richa's behavior🙀🙀
