Read this book for my toddler's bedtime. All of the different ways to say hello to different ocean friends including a hello in Spanish and a hello in Hawaiian. There was an octopus, a seahorse, a shark, a jellyfish, and more. At the end of the book, a page showcase all of the ocean friends and my toddler had fun naming each one. Excellent book for toddlers!
Thank you Sourcebooks Kids for the opportunity to read and review!
This is another book that I was able to get from the library for Cassie. "Hello, Ocean Friends" by Violet Lemay is different ways to say hello and different type of ocean friends.
Cassie loved looking at this book and through a whole week she was often flipping the pages on her own looking at them. I loved how they were all in black white which is a huge contrast for even the youngest of babies. I also love how it's very simple text but gets the point across. Also shows the different ways a person can say hello. If you have a little kid be sure to check out this awesome book.
I find this work engrossing. I just can't pull my eyes away from the captivating sea creatures and the high-contrast patterns/shapes on the opposing pages. I particularly like the cleverness of saying "Howdy" to the sea horse. My favorite pages, however, are the end ones, where (SPOILER ALERT) all the ocean friends are together.
This is a nice high-contrast images book. It is all black and white. Even though I am almost 4 months old and can see color, I still reacted well to these. The illustrations are great, but there could be more to the story!
I read this book on the daily. It's full of ups and ups. No seriously, I read this book to my newborn every day. The high contrast imagery is more important than the actual content. I look forward to the day he will read it back to me.
While I know that a lot of babies respond to the high-contrast images... my Little just didn't seem to respond to them. She wasn't nearly as interested as she is in the other books that have me reading more and have more colors for her to look at.
This is a great high contrast book for very young babies. It shows a bunch of sea animals and patterns, which is visually stimulating for babies, whose eyes are not fully developed yet.
I’m going to be honest, I struggle to get past the first couple of pages of this one. The black and white designs are mesmerizing and my attention span is quite short!
