Painting Outside the Lines #1

The Art of Hanky Panky

Rate this book
An alternate cover for this ASIN can be found here.

What would you do if a hot, rich, famous artist asked you to pose for one of his painting?

... And, by the way, did I mention you'd have to be naked?

Completely, 100%, nothing to hide those love handles, nude. Honestly, it's mortifying enough to stand naked in front of my own mirror, but to do it in the same room with my mind-blowingly hot, totally off-limits art instructor?

This is so not something that I, June Cooper, had planned for this college semester. What I should be focusing on is working my butt off to pull in awesome grades and get into my choice of law schools.

No distractions allowed.

Especially if they come with male parts attached. Not when things are finally starting to come together. Aside from just being dumped, a waistline that inexplicably keeps growing (damn you, chocolate cake!), and a highly developed caffeine addiction, my life is pretty much on track. Just how I like it.

Then, he showed up.

Ryan Carter.

Famous painter. Artist. And one giant, smoldering, red-hot distraction.

He is devastatingly attractive with the body of an underwear model, the intense soul of an artist, and an oh-so-sexy smirk that sends shivers to all the right places. Just my luck that he would be the visiting painter teaching my extra credit art class.

And then, as if that isn't distracting enough, Ryan starts to show signs that he might be interested in me. But not in the way I'd hoped for.

My world comes screeching to a halt when Ryan asks me to pose for a painting. All I can do is stare back at him, dazed, with my mouth gaping open.

I know what you're thinking... Why on earth would an artist like Ryan Carter want to paint someone like me? All I have are wide hips complements of a killer cupcake recipe, awkward glasses complements of bat-like blindness, and a stockpile of student loans.

None of these things are model-worthy traits. But Ryan is a man obsessed with his artistic vision, and he sees something more, something I've never seen inside myself. And painting isn't the only skill that he's mastered.

I soon learn that this focused, dominant, pushy alpha male has the kind of searing bedroom abilities that could scorch paint off the space shuttle. And he likes to employ those skills--on me--in the most awkward of places... coat closets, cars, standing in the middle of rooms at angles where people can't quite see us.

But no matter how much I think I can take, Ryan continues to demand more. With every canvas he paints, I become a little more exposed, revealed, unable to hide.

Ryan wants to strip me away till there is nothing left to stand between us--absolutely nothing--but going naked is one of the most terrifying things I've ever done. There are definitely some parts of myself that were never meant to see the light of day.

And I don't just mean my gluteus maximus.

When I discover that Ryan's past might not be as open as he says, cracks start to form in our shiny, new relationship. And I can't see the giant hammer that's about to descend and try to shatter the two of us apart.

Forever.

His craziness and my craziness are about to collide.

When the moment of truth comes, I could never have guessed how exposed I'd really be... And that the steady, secure life I was working so hard to build could be over in an instant.

A cute story about how we see ourselves, love and discovering our passions. This is a story about a college student and a famous artist who paints nudes. There are well-written erotic scenes but it is much more about the exploration of self. While I enjoyed the story, I found the plot contrived and predictable. A quick, cute read.

It's rare for me to slow down enough to find the time to read a book lately. So the fact that I couldn't put this one down until I was done reading it says a lot. A LOT. I'm a huge fan of romance novels that really crank up the sexy stuff, and this book did not dissapoint. I've read other similar book series that focused so much on the sexy parts of the book, but the storyline and writing fell flat. The Art of Hanky Panky brought the sexy, and had an engaging story that left me wanting more...of both those things.

I very much look forward to reading the next book in this series. I should also disclose that I was given a copy of this book for free for review purposes, but that I am always 100% honest with anything I review.

I really tried to get into this book, but after three different reading sessions, I wasn't drawn to pick it up again, and learning that it was a cliffhanger really turned me off to it. There are a number of proofreading typo.

I need a Ryan Carter of my own!!! I absolutely love this book & highly recommend it! I couldn't put it down. It gave me all the feels. The story is very engaging & spicy. June is trying to get over a bad breakup. Ryan starts out as June's visiting art professor but becomes so much more. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so you must read The Art of Seduction (Part 2 of the duet) for June & Ryan's full, bumpy & beautiful love story.

All the characters are so well written. The book contains some fantastic secondary characters that could have books of their own.

I will say that there were a lot of grammatical errors that caught my eye. I'd give it 3.5⭐ for that. However, the storytelling was so good that I felt a 5⭐ rating was deserved.

Love it
Hot and steamy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of people can relate to this story. It reminds us how important it is for us to love ourselves unconditionally and not let anyone dictates how we should look, feel or behave because it's what they think is best for you. I know it's not easy to be confident when so many things encourage negative feelings but we have to be strong and choose to self-love. June found it hard to see what Rayn see in her all because he ex destroyed her confidence. I really wanted to know how the story ends but the second book is not available on Amazon UK and I only buy books there. I got this one from prolific works.

This was a very interesting book:This is the first book I’ve read of Olivia ‘s
But , it was very good and I was either laughing or crying! June was a young college student that was working to make it through school. Ryan was a playboy art teacher. June was a shy girl and he was a knowledgeable older man - teacher. It was a hot book as people were either nude or making love.
I would recommend this book to somebody over 18.
I voluntarily read and reviewed honestly an Advanced Reader Copy.

I wasn't sure what to expect, and this is more explicit than I normally read, but actually I really enjoyed it. Although the sex is explicit, there's a good story round it. There are great characters, moral dilemmas and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I loved this story, but it just ended. I'm not sure what the author thought the plot arc was, but it felt like the midpoint of the story was the last couple pages.

Awesome writing, very descriptive characterization. Cried at the romantic moments.

The Art of Hanky Panky, Painting Outside the Lines book one by Olivia Savage. I was loving this book until the end when I found out it was a book with a cliffhanger. I’m not a fan of cliffhangers! If you don’t mind cliffhangers this is a great book.

I honestly did not care for this book, but I enjoyed Ryan strange friends, plus he coaxed June from her shell of insecurity, and I am glad that June had a friend like Katie.

I love the story development and how we had a lot of insight on how June felt about herself. It was heartwarming to see how her confidence improves, and not to give away the plot line, I adore the pivotal moment when she sees how Ryan has viewed her all along. Great characters and a fun read, plus super-hot sex!

Ms. Savage has developed a fun, enjoyable, and hot romance story in The Art of Hanky Panky. June, the heroine, is chugging along in her life, making progress on her “plan,” when a substitute teacher, Ryan, steps into the picture and wreaks havoc on her life (the really good kind of havoc). The characters are real, the story moves along at a good pace, but the book does end in a cliffhanger, meaning readers have to read the next in the series for their happily-ever-after ending.

I loved this book. Olivia Savage certainly knows how to tell a story, which she does through June, her main character. The title grabs you and filled me with anticipation for a racy romp in the world of art. I found myself totally carried along with June as she starts out in her erotic art class with best friend Katie. Enter gorgeous visiting professor, Ryan Carter. He looks the perfect antidote to her ex, Nick. June has the hots for him, but thinks he's out of bounds...

You can almost see the sketches, smell the paint, see the pictures. All the information about art and what it is to be an artist is here, which hooks you and makes the story so real. There is wonderful romance between June and this sexy man, all leading to superb, sizzling hot sex. Boy, those scenes are fun to read and they do what they are supposed to!

I raced through the book, such is the skill of the author. I just wanted to keep turning pages to find out what was going to happen. June and Ryan seem so real. I didn't want the book to end, but now that I have finished it I know that I'm going to read it again. Oh, and I'm going to load the next one on my kindle any minute now. I can't recommend it enough.

Great story!

Of course it's the typical story about insecure woman who catches the interest of a hot rich guy and constantly doubts that someone like him could actually want to be with her, yada yada yada...BUT it was so well written! I want to meet all of the characters, I want to see the artwork...I wanna read about a happy ending, but it ain't happening in this book...frickin cliffhanger! Ugh..

I recommend.

Now THIS is my kind of book. Practical, grounded, good-girl June Cooper agrees to take an art class with her wild-child roommate Katie. Okay, so it happens to be a class in erotic art. But a future lawyer needs to break up her schedule of heavy classes, right? Enter sex-on-legs guest professor Ryan Carter, a world-renowned artist who has agreed to teach the class for the semester. And BOOM, the chemistry between June and Ryan is instant. Other reviewers have criticized that a bit, but in my mind, when it's right, it's right. And for June and Ryan, it would appear that their worlds were meant to collide.

This story is sensual, sexy, and heartfelt as June struggles to overcome her lack of confidence--could a hot, worldly guy like Ryan really be in love with her? And for Ryan, his old trust issues rear their ugly heads. Author Olivia Savage surrounds the pair with a terrific supporting cast including Katie, the formerly more adventurous roommate, Nick, the smarmy ex-boyfriend, and the indescribable Momo. And throughout the book, the story is narrated by June's hilarious inner monologue.

The Art of Hanky Panky is a delightful, sexy, fun read. It is a cliffhanger, and if you don't think I rushed right out and picked up the next book, you don't know me very well. 5 WELL-DESERVED STARS! Watch for my review of the next chapter...

If you're in the mood for a classic erotic romance, with an engaging first person narrator and a melting-hot, artistic hero, look no further! When a sexy naked man appears on page one, you know the rest is going to be good.

Our lovers are a typical romance novel pair: young, inexperienced (and insecure) June - who spends much of her time worrying about her future, buckling down to study, baking cupcakes, and bemoaning her generous figure; or muttering to herself - and Ryan, the achingly handsome art professor who talks smooth and cranks up the heat. In that respect, there are not too many surprises. We all know that Ryan will sexually initiate June in all sorts of delightful ways, thus revealing the smoldering erotic goddess she's been hiding the whole time.

But like all fun romance novels, the fun isn't in the predictable main plot, but in the details! I particularly loved the colorful cast of characters (especially Mo-Mo, the flamboyant genius, and Katie, the inappropriate roommate, like the one we all had in college), and the details that brought Scottsdale's art scene to vivid life. Looks like a fun place! I enjoyed this book the whole way through, and if you're in the mood for some steamy romance, it absolutely delivers.
