Briar Coven #2

Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus

Rate this book
When 27-year-old Jen is released from prison, she returns to her childhood home, hoping to rebuild her life before next year’s Samhain summoning. But things aren’t quite as she left them. Her home—once her safe haven—has been turned into a novelty vacation rental and is currently occupied by a maddeningly gorgeous incubus who refuses to leave. To make matters worse, an old police file has surfaced, hinting that there’s more to her parents’ deaths than the crime she barely remembers committing. With her magic still suppressed and the weight of her past closing in, Jen isn’t prepared to face old ghosts… or the temptation standing in her kitchen making pancakes.

Devlin has spent the last nine years aching for a mate who has yet to summon him, and he’s done waiting. Ready to ditch Fate and take control of his own love life—starting with a well-needed vacation in a supposedly haunted cabin—Devlin is determined to find an emotional connection with someone on his own terms. What he doesn’t expect is a sharp-tongued, irresistibly stubborn witch barging in, claiming the house is hers. Neither willing to leave, a bargain is struck—he’ll help her fix the sensual scenes in her romance novel if she teaches him how to date.

But as teasing turns to tension, and lessons blur into something more, they realize there’s one thing that can’t be faked—desire that feels like destiny.

Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus is book two in an interconnected series, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone with its own complete story and satisfying HEA. While AVWAI is cozy paranormal romance with plenty of humor, steamy tension, and a touch of spooky charm, it also explores darker themes such as grief, guilt, and self-forgiveness. Readers should check the content warnings before diving in.

🎶 Have I told you lately that I love you?🎶

OH MY FAWKIN GAWD!!!
(In case you haven't noticed, I love this book!!)

Long story short, our girl Jennifer is waiting to match with her fated mate when a horrible accident befalls her family.
Devlin has resigned to never being summoned and decides to take a vacation... at Jen's house.
We have our mains who are just too cute and spicy af 🥵 but let's be real, the actual star of this book is Boodini, the house ghost 👻

I just can not get over how amazing Blakely's books are and I want to read slowly and enjoy them but I also want to devour them as well. We have one more book I believe in this trilogy and I can't WAIT for Ambroise and Blaise's story!!

I loved this book after reading the "Accidentally summoned an incubus" I fell in love with this series. At the beginning i was a bit fearful because the first chapters were very different than what i was expecting, but i quickly fell in love with Jen and Devlin's story. The respect that Devlin had for Jen was amazing and the fact that the reactions of Devlin to Jen's manuscript were literally mine "You are fated god damit!" the plot twist at the end amazing i was already suspecting but not like that. Im waiting for their character art ;)

Cute, short, fun read. Fated Mates, paranormal romance, Monster/supernatural MMC, curvy witch FMC. Beginning of the story started off a little slow but picked up rather fast towards the middle of the book. Plenty of spicy scenes. Loved all the elements of the MMC: overprotective, possessive, a little broody with a sense of humor.

This was a cute quick read💕

I really enjoyed this, it was cute, funny and spicy. So good I’m going to go read the first book in this standalone series!

I loved the main characters, I found them funny, cute, and adorable, Jen and Devlin were the perfect balance for each other. A little insta-love, but it works.

My only real issue is that I wished it was longer. Though I did find it well paced, there were some parts that could’ve used a little bit more, for lack of better words, pizzazz. A little bit more time to have the reader immerse themselves, maybe?

As well, I found some of the side characters a little stand-in-y. They had a purpose, they served it, but only a little of their personality shone through. By no means did this make or break the story for me, but it was something that I noticed. I really loved Lobato though, I think she was my fave, would love to know more about her story!

I’d like to thank the author for the opportunity to read the advanced copy!

Gah! Meatloaf!!!
My heart absolutely broke for this framed witch. She did not deserve the hate and pain she gave herself. This heartbreak to healing read follows Jen from just a girl, and into adulthood. Spending most of that time trapped in a prison, and her own mind. I am so glad she learned to forgive and trust herself enough for the truth. Betrayal hurts so bad in this one 💔
Thank the Hecate for the cinnamon roll demon who definitely didn't let her fall alone. I absolutely love this series so much!

Are you looking for a cute, relatale fated mate couple look no further. I really enjoyed this book, the characters are funny, charismatic bit still had their fair share of trauma. What I enjoyed about this book was that it wasn‘t the same plot that I‘ve read before (don‘t get me wrong I love a predictable book, I need them to mend my heart after a soul crusher) but this story had that sense of je n‘ais sais pas, was it the golden retriever incubus, the lovable side character, the strong fmc or the plottwist I don‘t know and frankly I don‘t care, I just really enjoyed this book.

This is the second book about the Briar Coven witches and their Incubus mates. I love the well thought out plot. All the little hints of what happened to Jen's parents. And of course all of the hints of who Devlin really is to Jen.

BooDini was a hoot. I loved all of his "interfering".

Loved the humor. And of course , because Devlin is a incubus the romance has a lot of steam.

Devlin wanted a slow romance, getting to know his "date" and Jen was more than happy to comply with helping him find the perfect date. I loved what she got back in return for his help.

Loved that in a way her book mimicked her real life. After all she did portray her female MC Mina after herself.

The HEA was wonderful . I loved the twists and suspense. Well done.

"Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus" was a delightful paranormal romance story with very cozy vibes. Even though there are some slightly darker subjects in this book, it still manages to remain lighthearted. There are all sorts of magical creatures in the town of Headless Hollow (an all magical beings place) but this story focuses on Jen, a witch from the Briar Coven, and Devlin, an incubus who has been pining for his mate for 9 long years. Jen had been obsessed with finding her mate ... that is until she landed in jail following a tragic accident involving her parents. The two accidentally find themselves living under the same roof and navigating some feelings for one another. There's tons of banter between the two and several twists throughout. The story also turns into a little bit into a murder mystery in some places as well. I thought this was a fresh take on paranormal romance and I really enjoyed it! It's plenty steamy, I mean, Devlin is a sex demon after all. The two of these characters land themselves in plenty of scenarios that lead to lots more smut than necessary, but I'm here for it. I would definitely recommend this one!

«I needed to know what it felt like to be chosen— not because of my magic, but because someone actually saw me. Wanted me. To watch someone lose themselves in my eyes— my real eyes— not the face of whatever fantasy their subconscious had crafted. To have someone laugh at my terrible jokes because they truly found them funny, not because they thought it might coax me into their bed. To hold someone and feel them lean into me, not because my touch sent them into a frenzy of lust, but because it felt right.»

«“You have no idea what you do to me, do you, my little witch?” he murmured, his voice rough, crackling as if the words were slipping out against his will. “How you’ve made every beat of this finally feel like it means something.”»

Me encanta.

«The twenty-seven-year-old virgin currently experiencing the most intimate touch of her life wanted to blurt out, To hell with boundaries! Let me experience every scene in full. Now.»

Me encantó ♥

Thank you BookSirens for this ARC.

Trigger or content warning? Yes. Included in the book.

Details?
Jen is the FMC. Devlin is the MMC. They are both 27 years old.
Jen is a virgin. Devlin is not a virgin.
Slight OM drama, Jen has a friend turned stalker when she was 18 years old. He is no longer enthralled by her, and is able to explain that it was not a voluntary obsession. It felt like he was unable to control himself. Which makes Jen realize that her succubus had come into maturity, and she had touched him (innocently) at some point which began the obsession.
Slight OW drama, a part of Jen and Devlin’s dynamic is that she is helping him find someone to date. He wants an emotional connection, and after not being summoned for 9 years by his fated mate he is done waiting. He just wants company. They strike the deal that Jen will help him, which leads them to a local bar and Jen observing while Devlin flirts with other women. He was never really interested in the other women, and kept on looking back at Jen.
No condoms used. Devlin has taken a birth control potion that will last a year.

My thoughts?
Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus was like a cozy hug on a rainy day, all curled up by the fire. I found it to be incredibly easy to read, and the conflict to be easy to navigate. This is my second Belle Blakley romance, the other being the first book in this series.
Devlin had pure intentions his 18th year, he was a virgin waiting for his fated mate to summon him. As time passed doubts crept in, and yearning took hold. Why wait around for a mate who had ignored him for 9 years? It was all he could think about for years, an excitement that edged onto the side of yearning. Yet, 9 years and nothing. Doubts creeped in, why would his mate want an Incubus virgin? Why wait for someone who obviously did not want him? So he survived, taking only as much as he needed to get through to his next feeding. The people he fed off of never seen the real him, but rather whoever their sexual fantasy was. Truthfully, I could understand why he was seeking out a meaningful relationship with someone other than his missing-in-action mate. I sympathized that he had been waiting so long.
In comes Jen, locked up for 9 years magic-less and completely alone in the world has made a cynical woman who doesn’t know who she is. She put up barrier to protect herself, banning anyone to visit her while she was in prison. Her 18th summer was traumatic, and ended in tragedy that left her parentless for the rest of her life. How could she summon her mate? How to explain to him that she was even worthy of him? Jen’s struggles with her worthiness, and the guilt that laid heavy on her was tough to read about. Her grief seemed to be cushioned once getting back to her childhood home, and meeting Devlin. The perfect confidence builder- an incubus who loves her romance novel she wrote at 18.
I found their situation to be oddly sweet? Which can be hard to do when there’s an incubus and a witch who cut the brake lines to her parent’s car. I found that the heavier themes were navigated solidly, and Boodini (the animated version of the house) to be a tension breaker.

The story opens on Jen, a witch, being released from a nine year sentence in mortal prison for criminal negligence after allegedly causing the death of her parents when she was eighteen. Her magic was suppressed during her time in prison by the warden, who is some kind of unidentified supernatural being. With nowhere to go, and unwilling to return to her coven until her magic returns to her, Jen heads to her family home in Headless Hollow only to find it occupied by Devlin, an incubus trying to take a vacation.

Devlin has been waiting for his mate to summon him for the last nine years. As an incubus, he’s fated to a Briar Coven witch who could have summoned him on Samhain any time after they turned eighteen, but she hasn’t. He’s a romantic at heart and, sick of waiting, he decides to take a holiday and try dating. This plan is momentarily interrupted by Jen, but they strike a deal that will allow them both to stay in the house.

The house, I love the houses in this series so much! They’re sentient beings, though innocent by nature and simple in their desires. Unlike the first book, the house in Accidentally vacationed with an Incubus has a physical manifestation. When Jen was little, she cut eye holes in a sheet and asked the house to animate it, creating BooDini. While unable to speak, BooDini communicates through their actions and it is ADORABLE.

Jen and Devlin’s relationship is the definition of slow burn. Due to Jen’s suppressed magic and Devlin keeping a damper on his ability to feel other people’s emotions out of respect for her, not to mention their *refusal* to connect the dots, it takes them most of the book to realise that they’re mates. While the romance is front and center, there is also the mystery of what truly happened to Jen’s parents all those years ago. Was Jen really responsible for their deaths? Her old friends, Rowan and Brooke never believed that she was, nor did her coven, and now Jen is caught between inconsistencies in the police files and her memories of that night.

Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus was a short, spicy read with a protective cinnamon roll MMC. The tension between Jen and Devlin is palpable and Jen’s tendency to blurt out bizarre would-you-rather questions when she’s nervous was hilarious. The mystery of what happened the night Jen’s parents died kept me reading late into the night and BooDini has made me want a sentient home. Briar Coven has quickly become a favourite series for me, and I can’t wait for the third book!

Newly released from prison for the murder of her parents, Jen is looking to rebuild her life and start fresh before the next Samhain when she can summon her fated mate. But when she returns to her childhood home, she’s surprised to discover an incubus has taken over and he’s currently in the middle of reading the unfinished romance novel she began to write 9 years ago. Unable to go back to his realm and with two weeks left on his vacation rental, Devlin decides to strike up a deal. In exchange of letting him stay at her house and help him with his dating game, he will help her finish her novel.

Devlin is an incubus looking to settle down with his mate. Unfortunately, she has yet to summon him. Losing hope that that will ever happen, he decides to try dating in order to find a meaningful relationship. The only problem is, his prospective dates only ever see him as the man of their desires and not who he truly is. When he meets Jen, he can’t help but feel a connection to her. His plan starts off innocently enough, but pretty soon real feelings start to develop between the two. Can they each give up the notion of finding their mates and instead find love with each other?

This was such a cute paranormal. Both characters are extremely likable and earnest. After years of having to feed in order to survive, all Devlin wants is for his mate to summon him. He’s a cinnamon roll of a man, who genuinely wants to have a meaningful connection. He’s kind and caring towards Jen with just the right amount of protectiveness. Their relationship was so wholesome and innocent, yet had the perfect amount of spice.

Jen is haunted by the specter of having murdered her parents. When she thinks back to that night so many pieces don’t fit. She grieves the loss of her parents and must let go of the guilt that surrounds their deaths. She had a remarkable amount of fortitude. She was such an earnest character, really doing her best to start fresh. I really liked how she and Devlin communicated no matter how awkward she felt. Their intimate moments were heartfelt.

We cannot forget about Boodini. They provided so many moments of levity, and they were such a fleshed out character within the story. The mystery of what happened to Jen’s parents has a bit of a twist which was interesting. Overall I really enjoyed this story and want to go back to read the first book in the series.

Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus was much cozier and yet higher stakes than I was anticipating. Normally I read very, very dark romances but this was a cozy read I actually enjoyed. I think I can solidly recommend this given that I burned through this book in like a day tops.

There was a good amount of internal struggle for both MC and I loved how the tension was cut with the adorable ghost in her house. Can I just say that I had a feeling a sentient house was going to play a much spicier roll than it did, so go into this not panicking over that! My favorite part of the story was the underlying murder mystery that was a small and welcomed surprise.

Moving on to the characters, I really liked our cinnamon roll MMC though don't tell him he is one, haha. He is such a soft romantic and yet at the slightest hint of a threat to his (shh) mate, his shadows unfurl around him. He balances having an internal struggle and voicing his concerns really well so there's minimal communication tropes thrown around. Our FMC is adorably in denial about her feelings and hey aren't we all at some point. Her aspiration to be an author and willingness to accept her guilt in her parents demise make her relatable and warm, despite her and her mate described as grumpy and sunshine. Of all of the supporting characters, I think the nephew and the lady next door are my favorites. As much as I'd like to mention mine, NO SPOILERS

As for the plot, hey we know from the get that this is a finding my mate on vacation story and the journey there was cute and not too long. I also was pleasantly surprised that the spice wasn't as generous as in other Vacationing with my X books. I'd say this was a medium simmer burn for spice and plot.

Well so here I am a dark romance reader hooked. I can't wait to read the next installment either as an arc or on KU.

Thanks Book Sirens and the author for this ARC. The review above is genuine as a result of my 24h read!

This book was EVERYTHING😍🥵 absolute perfection! 🙌 I loved the first book but this one really exceeded my expectations. I didn’t think I’d fall in love with these characters as much as I did and I really felt a strong connection to Jen. Or it may be just the fact that we both are addicted to candy😜🍭🍫 and don’t even get me started on Devlin. 😉😍🤤

Accidentally Vacationed With An Incubus follows Jen. She’s just been recently released by prison. She returns to her childhood home to heal and repair her life before next Samhain when it’s time to summon her mate. Little to her knowledge however, her home has been turned into an Airbnb rental and there is an incubus that’s been staying in her home. She is in for quite the surprise whenever she stumbles upon the incubus known as Devlin in the bathroom. Turns out he found her manuscript and he really enjoyed it🤭🥵

Neither are wanting to leave the house so they strike a deal. “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.” Devlin will help Jen with her book and she will help him find love. But…. Jen and Devlin start to realize that they both have feelings for one another.

Oh and Jen’s house comes with a special permanent guest known as Boodini who I absolutely adored!! 👻

This was such a fun story. I loved watching Devlin and Jen’s relationship develop. Cute and sexy as hell. And the plot twist?! Holy crap. So wasn’t expecting that.

This can be read as a standalone but I encourage readers to pick up the first book because there is a connection between the two.

I can’t wait to see Belle’s next release. I have loved reading this series. Special thank you to BookSirens and the author for this ARC. This book is available now!

This book was just as fun and entertaining as the first in the series! Blakely continues with the dynamic duet narration team of Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux, an absolutely stellar wife-and-hubby duo. Their chemistry shines in duet-style narration: Bridget reads all female POV chapters and voices every female character, while Jake handles the male POVs and voices. Their voice acting is top-tier. Jake brings that dreamy book boyfriend voice, and Bridget delivers all the sass. They are a perfect pairing! Honestly, I would’ve bought the audiobook just based on these two narrators alone. But let’s talk about the story! Much like the first book in this series, we’ve got a half-witch, half-succubus FMC (Jen) and an Incubus MMC (Devlin). But this time, there’s a twist: Jen has spent the last nine years in prison for killing her parents. Devlin, having gone un-summoned by his fated mate for all that time, has given up waiting and decides to vacation in a supposedly haunted house. And yep-you guessed it! It’s her house. These magical homes have a bit of sentience, and a mischievous ghost named Boodini adds an extra layer of fun to the chaos. What I really appreciated in Blakeley's stories is that while there’s instant attraction (because, hello, we’re dealing with succubus and incubus demon, who literally feed off sexual energy), the story allows the main couple to build a friendship, learn about each other, and truly fall in love. There are also some well-placed breadcrumbs hinting at future books, which I really hope come to life soon! If you’re looking for a paranormal romcom that feels like Practical Magic meets Lost Girl, I highly recommend this series!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this audiobook for free in exchange for my honest review

Ok, first off, WOW! I didn’t think it’d be possible to top the first book but this definitely did it.

I don’t know how Jen held it together in prison for 9yrs not knowing what actually happened. I probably would have gone insane personally. But good on her for keeping it together (for the most part).
•Devlin, that poor guy! He thought his mate had abandoned the idea of ever summoning him. I wanted to cry for him. 😭 He was so sweet and understanding with Jen and it made my heart break even more for him.
•The neighbors…ugh they really had me fooled. The whole time I was like “it’s gotta be the ex. I could totally see a crazy ex doing this then trying to weasel his way back in like ‘oh look at me trying to help! I’m the good guy!’ I’ve seen it all before in real life!” But no! Boy was I wrong!
•Boodini was an adorable side-character. Dare I say they may even be a 3rd main character. Absolutely loved them!
•And the prison warden being a dragon this whole time?! Haha I love it.
My only thing I didn’t like was the virginity aspect. I mean, I get that it helped with the storyline of her not knowing how to write sex scenes in her own book she was writing, but it just made it seem less believable when she finally got to having sex. Maybe succubi are different because when I lost my virginity I was SORE. 😅

Honestly, 10/10 read and I really hope there’s more to come. I wish I’d had more free time to gobble this book up all in one sitting instead of taking a few days.

Someone please tell Belle Blakely I need a BooDini!! While Jen and Devlin were seriously the cutest thing EVER, BooDini stole my heart immediately!! Even if it did make a flub or two or...

S T O R Y ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
S P I C E 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
N A R R A T I O N 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

Jen broke my heart time and time again in Accidentally Vacationed with an Incubus. Recently released from prison for committing a crime that still haunted her, all she wanted to do was return home. Yet, it seems that her home already had a guest. And I don't mean BooDini.

Devlin is tired of waiting for his mate to summon him, so he takes it upon himself to start dating in the mortal world. He needs a break, his friend hooked him up with a rental, easy peasy. Except, not so much, because he never expected Jen.

As these two strike up a deal to help the other out they quickly realize that there is much more at stake than either one of them anticipated. Plans are just as easily broken as they are made and as the story unravels you start to see this book is more than just a love story. It is a mystery.

Honestly, this is my second Belle Blakely book, and she already has a fan for life. I'm captivated by not only the story unfolding, but the chemistry her characters share. It is nothing short of electric.

A must read for any monster lover who enjoys the sweeter side of life.

Big shoutout to Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux who narrated these characters so phenomenally well that I am going to have a hard time seeing them as anything other than Jen and Devlin.

Following up from my review for Briar Coven #1, I am making an adjustment to my house preference. Its here now, with BooDini, go ahead and try to convince me I am wrong. You cant! BooDini is the best thing ever, the sweet almost mischievous addition to an already fun story.

With this couple we get a bit more angst, there is longing for someone that they think they have never met, yet want more than anything else. Until they find each other. The spark is there, without a doubt, and they somehow find a way to get closer, and closer, and, oh, my. That's pretty close there, y'all. There were so many scenes that had me giggling right with the MC's, especially when our favorite BooDini was involved. How did the author find a way to make him so HUMAN with just a sheet?! I love it, he stole the show, and I kind of miss him now that its over.

Additionally within this book, even though it is a quick steamy hot time, we are knee deep in a mystery to prove who framed the FMC. Once we get through the protective nature of the MMC for his mate, we finally get to the bottom of the whodunit and learn a bit more about a couple other characters in the series.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the third book, and don't get me started on the eagerly awaiting portion in regards to the next trilogy! Fantastic reads, all!

This is the 2nd book in the series and you can read it a standalone but I recommend you to read book 1 first because it gives more info about the background of the fated mates between the incubus and the Briar coven witches.

Devlin is a incubus who has been waiting for his mate to summon him and live happily ever after for the last 9 years so he decides to go on a vacation and try dating because even when some of his incubus friends are in the same situations as him, they aren't as sad an gloomy about it as him.

Thanks to some fated circumstances, he ends renting a haunted house for 2 weeks. There he'll meet Boodini, the house "ghost", and Jen the house owner who just returned from being in prison.

Jen is a witch from the Briar Coven but her family home is now in a vacation town because when vacationing with her family the house decided to go with them and has been there for the last decade.

This story is full of spicy and funny moments thanks to Jen being a virgin FMC who has been in prison for the last 9 years, just before she could summon her fated mate.

Briar coven series have a plus special "character" that is their houses and in this book we get Boodini thanks to a halloween prank when Jen was little and help "humanize" the sentient house.

And between all this we have the mystery about Jen's parents death. Definitely this series is getting better with each book. I can't wait to read the next one.

4.25 stars. Jen, the female witch lead, was looking forward to summoning her fated incubus soulmate on the Samhain after her 18th birthday. Unfortunately, her parents died and she went to prison for the crime, where her magic was stifled and no summoning was possible. Now, nine years later, she’s released from prison and, with nowhere else to go, returns to the home she shared with her parents.

Devlin, the male incubus lead, was so excited the year his witch soulmate was supposed to summon him but he’s become progressively glum as the years go by. Determined to try to actually date and build a relationship of choice, he heads to the mortal realm and ends up at a “haunted” house.

With no other reasonable options, Jen and Devlin end up sharing space, getting to know each other, and beginning to care for each other. But why was Jen sent to jail for the death of her parents? And is the risk still present?

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, small town, witch/incubus romance. I empathised with the grief both characters had endured. I enjoyed the low pressure relationship development between the characters. I enjoyed the sentient house’s antics.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Jen has had a hard life since the tragic loss of her parents nine years ago. She's back home and finds an unexpected guest there. Devlin is on vacation after waiting nine long years for his fated mate to summon him, and he finds someone else in the "haunted" house he's renting.

Jen and Devlin are wonderful together! I liked how they would act out scenes in her book together (she's an aspiring author, and her initial work could use some revising of certain scenes) and how their chemistry adorably unfolded. This story had a slow burn vibe to it. Nothing was rushed and everything happened in its own time. I liked the mini-mystery element to the story! I would have liked that to have been a little bigger, but that's because I love a good paranormal mystery!

BooDini(!!) was such a fun character! I loved the naïveté and innocent of the house.

This is book 2 in the series and can be read by itself without reading book 1. Though, I do recommend reading book 1 because it is also a fun book! There are adorable spicy times that occur in this story, mention of parental death, and minor violence, non-graphic.

It wasn't until I started this book that I remembered how much I loved the 1st book and this author's writing. I would have jumped on this one much sooner if I had.

We are back to the same world with a new couple - actually happening roughly same time line as book 1.

Jen's actions that land her in trouble with the law didn't sit well with me just like the rest of the town. Something didn't add up.

I loved how Jen and Devlin grow closer even when trying not to. They both want to honor the arrangement - her helping him date and he helping her with the steam in her story. Both find issue keeping feelings separate from completing their tasks. Each get jealous as others enter the picture. so cute seeing their reactions show their true feelings.

Have to mention BooDini. Such an amazing character! Never would have imagined so much life in a sheet. I want one now.

I loved the story of redemption and forgiving ones self.

I didn't expect the person behind her set up to be who it was. Ending had surprises and we get to see Lochran and Lex from book 1 again. 2 demons down, 2 more demons to go! I cannot wait!

Thanks to BookSirens for the ARC.

I received this copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As always I try to leave reviews that don't include the entire plot, but my thoughts and emotions throughout reading the book.

As someone who did read the first book and loved it, I had high expectations. They were met. This one however was a little more focused on the plot that the smut of it all. I still would call it a "super cozy smut"

But on the spice scale I would rate this a 3/5.

I wasn't here for the smuttiness though. The characters were so likeable. Jen and Devlin are meant to be together. In most of the books we read, we always want the boys for ourselves. In this case, Devlin is meant only for Jen. I felt as though I was watching their love grow and it was a beautiful experience.

Just like the first book, the world building is great. The town Jen is from is genuinely a place I wish I could live in. It's one of those fictional worlds I wouldn't mind moving into. I won't get into the plot too much but the mystery of it all did keep me hooked. I had to know what happened.

So, Would I recommend this book? Heck yes. I'd recommend the entire series.

"A Stunning Paranormal Romance series"
"A Hilarious Paranormal Romance series"

This is an awesome story. This story like the one before is so much fun to read.
Jen is a spunky young witch/succubus. When she was a teen she made a huge mistake. That cost her parents their lives. Jen ended up spending nine years in a human prison. During that time her powers had been frozen. Now she is out, and she went to her old family home. Witches homes are unique as they are Sentient. It uses a sheet ghost to scare away people. Which gives it a reputation of a haunted house.
Devlin is a sexy incubus. Incubus are fated to be mates to witches. They wait for their mate to summon them. Only for nine years Devlin has waited. Finally he contacted A friend to help him find somewhere to vacation at. His friend sends him to Headless hollow. To stay at Jens family home. At first the house tried to scare him away. But Devlin wins it over and the house lets him stay. This is how Jen and Devlin meet.
It seems the house and fate want these two together! Could they be fated mates?
You will love this sweet, funny, and steamy hot paranormal romance.

Super entertaining and emotional read about a witch and her incubus mate finding their way to each other. We are told that every Briar witch has a fated incubus mate and typically, the witch will summon her mate at Samhein.

The story starts with Devlin, sad and dejected over not being summoned year and year is sent on a vacation by his well meaning friend. Devlin is such a good guy, caring, protective, and loving.

Poor Jen is just released from prison after the murder of her parents and is simply trying to find her way home and get on with her life. Jen lost a major part of her youth, but did that much better because Devlin was there.

Close proximity ensues…

The way the relationship developed was sweet and the spicy was nicely add in without being obnoxious.

I enjoyed the character development for both. Supporting characters Rowan, Brooke, and Lovato added to the story and BooDini, a comedic touch. I wasn't expecting the hint of mystery and danger, but it definitely added to the climactic end scene.

Gleeful Goblin Review: The first book in this series got me hooked on this world in no small part due to the Samhain ritual of summoning your fated incubus when you're a witch in the Briar Coven. It's charming and weird in the best way because it almost needs both partners to be hopeless romantics but definitely needs one of them to be a jaded version of said romantic. I feel like this second book leans hard into the disappointment side of things but with both our main characters! Life and love haven't turned out at all as planned for both of these two, so they're separately determined to make a new start of things and give the finger to Fate. But that's the thing about Fate....it doesn't give a fig about your finger. And in this case, love is gonna getcha no matter how much you want to avoid it (Jen) or you want to find it on your own and have someone choose you regardless of being fated to do so (Devlin). I'm also totally enchanted by Boo-Dini and when you get to that point in the story I be you will be too. What a fun story, I can't wait to hear it on audiobook!! 5/5 Stars

ACCIDENTALLY VACATIONED WITH AN INCUBUS is the second book in the Briar Coven series, although the coven doesn't appear for most of the book.

Jen was sent to prison nine years ago for killing her parents and has never forgiven herself. Devlin has never been summoned and has given up, taking a vacation instead. With the help of a magical bedsheet, these two meet and realise they can help each other, falling in love along the way.

This was a great story that had more of a mystery than the first book, with red herrings thrown in too. I loved the connection between Jen and Devlin and how it played out naturally. Fated mates with a twist. And not only that but there is another magical house! I love Boo-dini just as much as House, and I definitely want my own.

A great addition to the series that will leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended by me.

I wasn't sure if I would like a longer version of this series but I really enjoyed it and read it in 1 go. In true Belle Blakely form, it was sexy and very sweet, but frothy enough to be enjoyable with a mystery throughout to keep it engaging. Devlin and Jen are characters that you want to root for given what's happened in their lives that led to their meet cute and then their close proximity situation. One of the things I wasn't fully clear about was how his Incubus's true form comes out (I guess he just shifts whenever he wants?), and how does Jen's succubus form come out (or does it?). Minor details but all to say I loved his Incubus form and would have liked to see more of it but it seems like he lives in his more human form. The secondary plot around her neighbors was also quite heartbreaking in dealing with a loved one with dementia. All in all, I recommend this for a light, easy read with some fun steamy scenes. I received an ARC copy of the book.

Accidentally vacationed with a demon was SO CUTE! At the beginning of this year, I decided I wanted to read 100 books by the end of it. I did really well in January and February, but slowed down a bit in March. After I was invited to read this book, I jumped on it, and much to my surprise, I finished it less than 24 hours later.

I figured from the beginning that there was more to Jen's parents'deaths, and there were three plausible options. Despite the ending being predictable, it was such a fun read. Jen's awkward questions were hilarious, and Devlin missing the "obvious" was very cute! However, Boodini stole my heart. He/she/they were so adorable and helpful.

I am really hoping to get Izzy's story at some point, if it doesn't already exist.

My favorite tactic of this book was when Jen and Devlin were acting out the script scenes. I don't know that I've ever read that kind of scene in a book, and it was so fun, but also steamy!

Overall, I definitely want to read more in the series!
