I am from South Africa and I live in a city called Pretoria. I am a Chemical Engineer by day and a children’s book writer by night. I am married to a wonderful man and we have a beautiful two year old daughter called Allegra. I love writing stories for my daughter, who is a constant inspiration.

When it comes to writing, my daughter is my biggest inspiration. I love seeing her face light up with excitement when we sit down to read a book before bedtime. My daughter was fascinated by giraffes after we went on a safari trip in late 2012. This planted the seed for my picture book called How Andrew Got His Spots which is a rhyming adaptation of a story I originally wrote in the third grade. My daughter has since grown into a healthy two year old with a passion for aircraft which was the inspiration for writing Goodnight, Sleep tight, What a Wonderful Flight.

This was a cute kids story with little sing-along bits for each vehicle, to be sung to the tune of 'round and round the mulberry bush'. My 4-year-old liked this and requested t again the next few nights.

Author Louise Lintvelt and illustrator Julie Sneeden created a charming book for preschoolers. The Sing Along Construction Song picture book introduces children to a world of construction, with vehicles that come alive through rhyme and song.

Narrative:
After a visual preview of the five construction vehicles in this book, each vehicle is highlighted as it starts its morning’s work:
Siren sounds at first light.
Work starts at the construction site.

Vehicles are introduced through simple rhyme on a full-page spread followed by a second page setting up its corresponding musical verse, sung to the tune of “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.” Once all vehicles are introduced, they appear together in a grand finale to demonstrate how they work together to get the job done. The rhymes are simple, yet they cleverly describe each vehicle.

Illustrations:
Sneeden’s colorful drawings incorporate subtle human features into the vehicles to render them kid-friendly and appealing. She shows vehicles in action on the construction site, with rhyming text constrained by a small rectangle of construction dust. Then she draws a second page with vehicles and their musical verse. Quarter- and eighth-notes float across the page in colorful G-clef bars to cue the song.

Unique Features:
The rhyming verse and song in the book make it easy for children to learn as they follow along and sing. The author also provides a downloadable mp3 sound recording of this catchy song, so you and your young reader will be singing along in no time. In addition to learning about construction vehicles, the book also conveys a subtle message about of the importance of working together and cooperating.

Recommendation:
I highly recommend this cute, imaginative book for children who are preschoolers through kindergarten age. Sing Along Construction Song would be attractive to boys, especially those who are reluctant readers. However, the catchy tune and illustrations will appeal to everyone. But be warned: you will not be able to get this ditty out of your head once you and your young reader hear it!

I was provided with a free pdf version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book Summary
Louise Lintvelt and Julie Sneeden capture the fun and excitement of an early morning construction site with a delightful rhyming story that can be sung to the tune of Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush and bright, colorful illustration. Any little truck enthusiast will fall in love with this book and merrily sing along.

Our Review
My youngest daughter is a little over 2 years old and would be certainly classified as being "busy." She rarely sits still for books, making them a living, breathing experience at bedtime. Books that incorporate song, dance, stretching, or any other actions are always big hits because it allows play to keep reading fun and interesting. This book incorporates the tune of Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush, which uses repetition and simple rhythms that most toddlers would already be familiar with. In fact, Little J was so excited when I started singing to that tune while reading this book that she went and found a Play-A-Song book that had a button which played the tune. I was thrilled she made the connection, but also excited to see her so engaged with a book. She kept pushing the button every time we got to a part in the book where you get to sing. When we got to the page with the cranes, her eyes lit up as she made another connection, ran to her room, and came running back with our copy of Mighty Dads by Joan Holub. She quickly opened to the page in that book with the cranes. It was exciting to see a book, through the power of song, bring about so many great connections to other books.

This book was fun and engaging, and I strongly encourage it for any busy child. However, I want to also put out a strong encouragement to moms of girls to also read these types of books that are typically seen as for boys to their girls. It is a great skill to raise your girls up knowing what front-end loaders and cranes are, in the hopes we might be raising some mighty girls to be mighty engineers.

This is a great book for little kids - I think boys would like it more because of the theme but it is so cute that a lot of girls would be interested as well :) The author tells the story of the construction vehicles to the tune of "All Around the Mulberry Bush" and so you can either just read it or you can sing it to your own music! My daughter loved it, she loves music so having mommy sing her a book was absolutely awesome to her. Not only does it tell the story through song, but the ebook also comes with an audio download to help you sing it! The story explains what each vehicle does in the construction process, like a dump truck and a crane - and the story is put into little "dirt boxes" to make it look like they are surrounded by the dirt. SUPER CUTE! The illustrator has done a superb job with this book, the vehicles are not just sedentary vehicles, but they have eyes and are literally brought to life on the page for kids. So when they are reading it they actually get the sense that the vehicle characters are actually the ones singing the words. Every page was a whole page of illustration, not just a certain portion or certain pages - so the illustrations were just as much a part of this book as the story itself. They are very nice, look kind of like watercolor but much more in-depth. I have to give this book 5 stars, I would give it 10 if I could! It was such a great and cute read, perfect for 1-5 year olds :)

My toddler loves anything and everything involving construction, so when I had the opportunity to review Sing-Along Construction Song by Louise Lintvelt I jumped at the chance. We bothed absolutely loved the wonderful rhyming text and darling illustrations of construction sites and equiment that are personified with friendly faces.

The book is well organized and clear, so the reader understands the tune of the song and knows exactly when to sing. I wasn't sure if my 2 1/2 year old would pick up on the song, but after a couple of verses, he figured out how to sing along and joined in. The book is just long enough to highlight all the major types of trucks and equipment and ends with the whole group singing together. I really like the colorful illustrations that accurately depict the different construction vehicles and equipment. If they weren't true to form, believe me, my son would point it out!

I recommend this book to any parents of truck-obsessed toddlers or any child who likes to sing along with a story. It's simply a wonderful children's book!

This children's book is colorfully illustrated and fun to read! And the audio song that accompanies it is such a wonderful compliment.

I read the book first, and then listened to the audio song that came with it. Right after, I shared it with my two year old daughter. It kept her fully entertained. In fact, within seconds of the audio song playing, she got up and started to dance (smiling from ear to ear). Once it was finished, I had her sit by my side, listening to me read the story to her and allowing her to look at the pictures on each page. Both kept her attention.

The song reminds me of Thomas the Train. It's fun and simple, with a catchy beat. The illustrations were perfect for this age. They were colorful and kid-like.

There was one part of the book which I wasn't a huge fan of and that was the way the text was shown (mom view versus a kid view). On every page, the text was placed within a box that was supposed to look like it was underground. However, it actually made me think of ancient scroll paper, giving it an ancient time feel. That being said I don't feel it has any affect on any boy and girl construction enthusiasts enjoyment of the story and illustrations.

Max is always singing. "The ABCs", "Jesus Loves Me", "Twinkle Twinkle", Lee Brice's "I Don't Dance", and Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" are his favorites, but really anything can get him singing. His favorite moments of movies are the end credits, when they play music.

"Let's get up and dance, Mommy!" he always says. Usually this is at home, though, we did boogie a week ago at the theatre after The BoxTrolls.

All this to say that Max was a huge fan when we played "Sing Along Construction Song" and paged through the book.

Louise Lintvelt's book follows along a construction crew (the automobiles, not the humans) as they spend a happy day at work. Illustrator Julie Sneeden does a great job of making the trucks look happy and inviting. Sung to "Round the Mulberry Bush", the story introduces readers to the jobs of each truck, as well as to the idea that work can also be fun. I'd like Max to realize that work is not some sort of death sentence!

I should add that my four-month-old also loves to listen at story time, and - while he usually gets the smiliest baby award anyway - he laughed and smiled the whole way through this sing along.

Sing Along Construction Song deserves 5 snacks!

This is a fantastically cute book! I absolutely love the art and the rhyming story. My four-year old son loves construction trucks. He has to point them out everywhere we go. His Nana has borrowed countless books from the library for him about these types of vehicles. I knew when I saw it that it would be a big hit. I personally loved the rhyming and how wonderful the descriptions of what each vehicle does was simplistically put for a child to understand. Yet the vocabulary is something that encourages kids to ask questions and learn. The song is very cute too.

My son enjoyed the book. One picture on my blog has the story upside down, but he quickly righted it. He showed me the different trucks and identified the ones he already knew. He has a few books that we have read several times which taught him what some of the trucks do. He laughed at me when I sang the song and told me to just read him the story. Being that he just started preschool and they read a book every day, I think he just wanted me to do what his teacher has done so far. This is definitely a great book for your little lover of cars and working vehicles.

For any parent like me that can't help but burst into song while playing or reading to your child, this book is for you!!! Sing along construction song is just as wonderful as it sounds. This wonderful little book is filled with construction equipment singing while they work. It's like the seven dwarves, but with building equipment instead... singing makes everything better.

I have read some of the other books by this author, Louise Lintvelt, and loved them all... but this one is by far, my favorite. The combination of wonderful illustrations, clever rhythms, and a favorite theme makes this a hit.

This book not only gives some of the basics of construction equipment, but also introduces multiple ways of involvement... This book engages your child with its story and then adds another dimension with being able to sing along with a familiar song... If that's not enough, the author offers a FREE bonus! You can download the song for free from her website. The download makes this book something that can be enjoyed everywhere... From bedroom to playroom to car... This book will go far!

5 stars!

The book cover is really cute and cheerful. The book is about construction vehicles at the construction site, going about their daily work, early in the morning. There is a cheerful energy in the rhyming sentences that is so contagious!. It is super cute and the illustrations by Julie Sneeden, will keep little readers glued to the pages. Each construction vehicle does a different job and the pages highlight it in simple words.

There is a free song to download from the author’s website. You can play it and then sing along with it while going through the pages. The song is sung to the same tune as the popular nursery rhyme Round the Mulberry Bush. Listening to the song, I couldn’t help but think how adorable it is. I was quite surprised when later in the day, I found myself humming the song while doing some chore!. That’s how catchy the song is!. It’s a lovely book for children between ages 1- 5.

The crew is hard at work at the construction site. Meet the dump truck, the excavator, the crane, the bulldozer, and the cement truck as they go about their work, happily singing their construction song.

Sing along with them! You can download the accompanying song via a link in the book and sing along to the tune of "Round the Mulberry Bush". Singing is a great way to get your little ones to learn to read by remembering the words. Julie Sneeden's illustrations make the vehicles come alive, and the pop-up text allows you to enlarge the text size to make it easier to read on small devices.

This book will appeal especially to little boys, who might like to play along with their toy trucks as you read to them. You might even catch them singing the construction song while they play with their trucks long after reading this book.

I received this book in return for an honest review.

I adore this book, My husband works construction and when the little ones ask
what he does at work, what better way to show them then this book, there are all the construction machines at the beginning and moves into a song that all rhymes. It is great for little boys that like to play with cars and trucks and build things too, ( I think some girls will like it because of the "daddy" thing and the Rhymes and song although i think it is more for little boys) it goes thru very smooth and I think most kids will read it over and over again and love it, it is very catchy, and there is even a free download to get the song, however you don't have to have that to read it if you don't want to but does make it fun!! i think this would target a good age group from small toddler to a k even as with the Rhymes and song it is a fun book, and could become a favorite in no time.

Little boys and probably many little girls will enjoy reading and singing along about the activity that goes on at construction sites, especially the big trucks, all the dirt, and plenty of noise so early in the morning.

The illustrations quickly drew me, I meant will draw the children in and will have them you bugging you to take them to visit a real construction site. In the meantime they can continue singing and sharing the story of the Sing-Along construction Song book with all their friends.

I found the song to be a fun catchy old tune that will be easy for children to remember.

I highly recommend this book.

I gladly rated this book 5 out of 5.

Do you have a young child fascinated with trucks and construction? If so, this is the perfect book for them!

Children's Author, Louise Lintvelt, has cleverly created a sure "hit" with all young children who read this. The story details the equipment and process involved in construction. Equally talented, Julie Sneeden, has done fantastic illustrations to accompany this interestingly fun story. But that is not all! The reader also gets to download some fun, free Music to go along with it!

By singing along, the child will be aided in learning the words as well. The story directs the child in the process of construction work while the music emphasizes the words using both sound and the visual which makes this a wonderful teaching tool.

I heartily give this a Five Stars rating.

Full of brightly illustrated construction trucks busy at work on a site and set to the tune of Round the Mulberry Bush this is an obvious hit with toddlers. The illustrations remind me of the bestselling book Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site. They are bursting with light, energy, and personable trucks. The text is both informative and playful. Toddlers will eagerly chime in on the chorus "this is the way I...early in the morning" as dump trucks dump, excavators shovel, cranes lift and more. I particularly like how the book ends with a nod to the collaborative nature of construction. Together the trucks all sing "this is the way we work together." Perfect for reading aloud and adding to the collection of any young truck fan.

Do you know any little boys that do not like construction? I’ve never come across one! Construction and singing go hand in hand! This fun filled book gives all the ins and outs of the world of construction and the trucks that are involved. With easy rhyme throughout, the book talks about the function of the construction truck and it’s specific job, all to the tune of a familiar nursery rhyme if you would like to take your reading to the next step of engagement. The pictures are crisp and perfect for each construction truck characteristic and description. This is an example of great word choice and writing tied together to form just the right little action book on the subject of construction.

What a pure treasure for anybody who loves big construction vehicles --- show how they each do their job individually and then how they accomplish what they're doing working all together ---- the pictures are perfect, the story rhymes and the song can be song along on every page right through the end! I sang them aloud while I was reading the book and even my husband laughed --- plus if you double click on the words - the sentences get bigger, click and they're back to the right size! The illustrations of all the vehicles did nothing but enhance the whole story! I want to be a construction worker, a construction worker .... a construction worker! Even little girls will love this book (this 66 year old did!)!!!!!

Sing-Along Construction Song is a wonderful water colored illustrated book. I adore learning the names of the machines and their duties by means of the rhyming phrases. The bonus material has a free download song on the writer's website that is easy to follow. Although, I feel the singer rushes through the lyrics.

I do not like the drawing of the tower crane's mouth. It expresses a sad or a serious emotion. I believe the face should have a smile. And I would like a couple of construction people to have been on site.

Overall, I do recommend Sing-Along Song Construction. It's an enjoyable read.

The Sing-Along Construction Song is a fun and inviting children's book about various types of large equipment and how they work together in harmony.

The illustrations are bold and vivid. The rhyming prose holds the attention of young children. Preschoolers love to listen to the song as well as sing to the song on their own. The downloadable song really makes this a fun and interactive book. My 4-year-old daughter recognised the tune and had a real giggle over it! The trucks work to the same tune I sing to brush her teeth!

This would be a great book for toddlers, or to use in a daycare or Moms and Tots group

Louise Lintvelt’s new book is conveniently timed with my three year old’s interest in sing books (like Pete the Cat) as he does at home and at school. While the illustrations are delightful enough with great construction “characters,” the addition of the song really makes this a fun and interactive book and reading experience for children. We like that each machine has his own “song” and we get to see what the machine does as he works in the construction site. If your child, like mine, loves construction type books, you know that being able to walk through the illustrations looking at each machine work is great. We give this one two thumbs up for the book and the song!

We received this book to give an honest review.

This is a cute children's book that is fun to read and sing along with.
We get to meet different kinds of vehicles that have important jobs on construction sites. And you sing to the tune of Round the Mulberry Bush with each job they do.
Instead of reading this to my 8 year old I sat and read it with my daughter who is 2. She enjoyed the singing and the pictures that were done wonderful.
This is a good book to read to younger children who may like construction vehicles and to learn about what they do. The rhyming and singing will have everyone enjoying the story and singing or humming long after the book is read.

This is a really cute book. I" read" it with my 1 year old. He liked looking at the pictures. I like that the illustrations used primary colors that I could point out to my son. There is a free sing along that you can download from the author's website included in a link at the end of the book. He really enjoyed it. He smiled, danced and clapped while I showed him the illustrations on the laptop.Once he can really understand the story I know that this will be a favorite. He will know the functions of construction vehicles.

I knew from reading her previous books that we were in for a treat when I was asked to review "Sing-a-Long Construction Song" - and I was not wrong! It's another winner for Louise Lintvelt.

The book is a magical blend of sing-song rhymes, appealing characters and the most beautiful watercolour illustrations. My kids loved joining in with the construction song, which was set to a well-known tune and had very easy, catchy words. The free download was a huge hit too. Great for boys and girls alike - a fabulous read-aloud.

This is a terrific book for all those little tractor/construction lovers out there. With a clever new take on a familiar children's song, this book goes from one construction vehicle to the other and tells/illustrates what each vehicle does. The illustrations are simple, bright and perfect for the smallest readers. Although kids won't be able to sing the verses without practice, the refrain is easy to pick up on and fun to sing-along.

I recommend this to kids 4 and under.

Illustrations/Cover:
I personally love the illustrations in this book. The watercolor images look very appealing to the very young ones.

Text:
The rhymes in the book were very well thought of although there are a few words that maybe a little too advanced for young toddlers.

Personal Experience:
I read it to my 1.5-year-old daughter who listened quite intently and even exclaimed "Wow!" upon seeing the crane tower illustration.

Sing-Along Construction Song is an adorable and vibrantly illustrated story about a construction crew as they perform their various tasks.

This lively and entertaining story is set to the catchy tune of Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush. The song adds to the fun as it teaches little ones about all the different vehicles used in construction as well as the duties they perform.

Children will be drawn to the colorful construction team and parents will like how the story instills the importance of teamwork.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Sing-Along Construction Song.

My son loves trucks and he loved the brightly colored pictures. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching him what each vehicle does with a memorable song. He'll be begging to read this book for weeks. The images are beautiful and when the words are put to song they fit perfectly.

I do wish the author had changed the last lyric from 'early in the morning', this could have been more creative and had another cute line about trucks. In all, the Sing-Along Construction Song is a great interactive read to get your child involved in, and enjoying reading.

This book is perfect for a little boy/girl. The author did a great job putting together a fun filled rhyming story. A child is more likely to get into the story and understand it more if it is made fun and a sing along is a perfect idea. The song has taken a different spin on a classic tune and I for one love singing with my son to this cute tale. The illustrations is also spot on with the story. All in all a great story one that you and your child will enjoy together and the audio download is also cute.

I highly recommend this book for both toddlers and preschoolers! The colorful illustrations and lively text, reminiscent of Good Night Good Night Construction Site, are engaging for even the most active little ones.

The audio download that accompanies the book is a wonderful bonus, especially for kids like mine that love to sing and dance! The tune is used to great effect in the book, with new lyrics that fit easily with the familiar melody.

This is a fun book for young children, especially those who love construction machines!

What a great book and a perfectly timed read. My son is really into trucks, trains and planes right now. We read this together, or I read it to him, and had a great time. The music was perfect for the illustrations and story. My son particularly enjoyed the illustrations and would grab his toys that have faces on them and bring them to read the book with us. My son liked the song since the music was very familiar to him. The more he listens to it, the more he sings along. This is a great book for anyone with a child who likes construction vehicles and singing.
