I’ve never needed help from anyone. I certainly don’t need it from the infuriating doctor next door.
I loathe my uncivil neighbor and the loud music he blares before the sun has risen. Even the dogs I walk—for one of my four jobs—despise him.
I’d be happy never seeing him again. But when he becomes his niece’s guardian for a few months and is in desperate need of a nanny, I begrudgingly accept the position.
How can I refuse when the salary he offers will allow me to open my dog rescue? It’s a win-win. Or a lose-win, depending on how you look at it. I mean, I still have to be around Tyler, and I would never consider that winning.
But the more time I spend with him, my cold indifference is melting away. And the way he’s starting to look at me feels more molten than icy.
I knew that Tyler was trouble from the moment I met him, but now I think I might be the one in trouble…of losing my heart.
I Knew He Was Trouble is an enemies to lovers, next-door-neighbor romcom with sizzling chemistry but no explicit content. It’s the first book in the Sweeter Than Fiction series, following four best friends finding love.

I Knew He Was Trouble by Amanda Schimmoeller is a sweet, closed‑door enemies‑to‑lovers romcom about Kelsey Anderson, a hardworking woman juggling multiple jobs to save for her dream dog rescue, and her infuriating next‑door neighbor, Dr. Tyler Reed, whom she absolutely cannot stand at first because of his early‑morning loud music and general grumpiness. When Tyler unexpectedly becomes guardian to his young niece and urgently needs a nanny, Kelsey agrees to take the job for the generous pay, even though it means close proximity to the man she “knows” is trouble, and where once there was irritation, something warmer begins to take shape between them.
From the moment I began reading I was charmed by how lively and laugh‑inducing the interactions between Kelsey and Tyler can be, because Schimmoeller writes their prickly friendship‑turned‑something‑more with a refreshing blend of humor and tenderness. I found myself smiling at their prank war and heartfelt when Tyler’s genuine kindness toward his niece and toward Kelsey surfaced, revealing layers beneath his tough exterior, and I loved how the story folded in found family vibes through Kelsey’s tight circle of friends, affectionately called the Long Live Girlies.
The pacing felt comfortable and the chemistry between the characters gave me that delightful flutter of anticipation without ever needing explicit content to convey connection. Some readers might find the trope familiar or wish for slightly deeper emotional stakes, but for me this book struck a lovely balance of warmth, laughter, and romantic growth that made it an easy read to savor.
I would rate I Knew He Was Trouble a 4 out of 5, because it made me feel genuinely happy for the characters’ journey and excited to continue the series, even if it plays within cozy, well‑loved romcom territory.
I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading this book. It was such a cute read. I loved that this started off as a neighborly enemies that morphed into a nanny situation. I loved the forced proximity and prank wars throughout the book. This was just an easy to read book that I got lost in. While it wasn’t my favorite book by Amanda, it was still a really cute and easy to read closed door romance. Oh and I loved the dog’s name.

My Swiftie heart is so very happy right now! This Taylor Swift-inspired novel is adorable.
Kelsey and Tyler live next door to each other and have for the past two years. They dislike each other for *reasons*. When Tyler takes temporary custody of his niece for three months, he needs a nanny immediately. Enter Kelsey.
There are so many fun aspects to this story: the prank war, the forced proximity, Evie, meddling great-aunts, the Long Live Girlies, a sweet caretaking scene, Tyler’s grand gesture!
After getting to know Kelsey’s friend group, I am so excited for the rest of the series!
Favorite Quotes:
-Instead of accepting it like a normal per-son, Tyler told me he doesn't eat a lot of carbs. I'm not sure I could ever trust anyone who doesn't eat carbs.
-"Stop talking about your muscles." "I'll stop talking about them when you stop touching and staring at them." He folds his arms across his chest, making the rippling, veiny muscles return. My eyes move to them. "Ah, ah, ah. There you go again." He leans down and tips my chin up. "My eyes are up here, Anderson."
-"When you're with the right person, they should make everything in your life easier. You know you have someone who always has your back and is willing to fight all your battles with you and for you. They should encourage you in your dreams and help you make them a reality.”
-"True love doesn't stand in the way of your dreams. It helps you reach them. It helps you surpass them."
-"Love may start as a feeling. Something all-consuming and so happy you could never imagine feeling differently. But staying together is a choice, Kels. Feelings fade just like the sun disappears below the horizon every even-ing. But we must consciously choose to be together—to love each other—just as faithfully as the sun rises again each morning."
-"It wouldn't be called falling in love if it wasn't scary. It's a leap of faith. … But I'm always going to catch you. You don't have to need me, Kels. You just have to choose me."

As cute as the romance was—and it was adorable & heartfelt—I’m a sucker for solid friend groups! Plus, Tess & Tyler’s sibling relationship was precious.
This sweet rom-com features enemies-to-lovers, the loveliest group of female friends, an adorable young child, matchmaking Southern aunties, a fluffy Golden Retriever, and a prank war. If you’re a fan of the lovely, late Hailey Gardiner’s The Retreat, this book felt a bit like that. 💛
Amanda did it again!🤭😆 Tyler was literally perfect *insert a squeal* he was so adorable with his nice (Evie was such a sweetheart 🥹) and the way he was always there for Kelsey was just so cute! His love and care for his sister just melted my heart! I loved Tyler’s and Kelsey’s dynamic. The prank wars and banter🤭 The goad incident was hilarious 🤭🤣 And I loved the broom closet scene (iykyk) Darla is was hilarious 🤣 Shes definitely one of my favorite side characters ever! Also her besties are just amazing! They’re wonderful and supportive, always there for each other. I love it when there are amazing friendships in book and this is one of the best ones 🥰 Definitely recommend!🩷

The vibes: - neighbors - Prank wars - Friend group - Pediatrician x nanny - Closed door
My thoughts: This was really cute, and I loved the writing style. It flowed really well for me in the first half, and I wanted to keep turning the pages. The first half was my favorite, and I loved getting to know Tyler and Kelsey. I could understand why she hated him, and I could see why he didn’t like her either. Sure, it’s a misunderstanding but I bought into the origin of their rivalry.
With that said, there were some moments in their enemy banter that pulled me a little bit out of the story because I kept thinking it maybe went too far or just didn’t feel like something someone would actually say to someone’s face. The prank war that took over the second half wasn’t my favorite because I was ready for them to move past their animosity.
I was able to get past that since I know that’s just me being grumpy and not loving pranks as much as other readers. But then I was hit with that third act conflict, and I really struggled with that.
Overall, I still enjoyed the book, and I would read more from this author.
Guys, let me just say—this book is absolutely ADORABLE! I’m talking full-on, melt-your-heart, giggling-in-public kind of cute. I initially thought it might be all Taylor Swift vibes, and while there are some sweet references (nothing too over-the-top, promise!), this book stands on its own with its own charm. I have nothing against Taylor Swift, by the way—I just wouldn’t exactly call myself a Swiftie. 😉
Amanda totally nailed this romcom! The writing is top-notch, and I was hooked from the very first page. Her little funny quips and pop culture references had me laughing out loud more than once. It's the perfect closed-doorromcom for anyone who loves charming doctors, hilarious side characters, and a sweet little girl that will tug at your heartstrings.
I’m already eagerly awaiting the next book in this series! There’s something so fun about following each roommate’s story, and I can’t wait to see what Amanda has in store next. If you love feel-good romcoms that leave you with a smile, this one is definitely for you! Highly recommend!
🐕 Release Date: March 13, 2025 🐕 . . . Swifties, this book is for y’all! Filled with neighborly prank wars, Friday night girl’s parties, and the cutest five-year-old, this book is so much fun and will be sure to have you giggling and blushing at regular intervals!
Being woken up on a regular basis at four in the morning would make anybody mad, but add some loud hip-hop music to the mix and you’ve got a very livid Kelsey. Her bedroom just so happens to be right across from her neighbor’s workout room, which means she has the privilege of hearing his obnoxiously loud workout music in the wee hours of the morning. In return, Kelsey allows the dogs she walks to use his lawn as their toilet. This, of course, causes deep feelings of hostility to form between the two of them.
Tyler suddenly found himself saddled with watching his five-year-old niece for three months, which was not ideal since he’s a full-time pediatrician. Finding himself in desperate need of a nanny for Evie, he deigns himself to go ask his four female neighbors for help. Of course, Kelsey happens to be the only one with a schedule that works to include being a nanny. Now the two of them need to learn to set aside their dislike for one another in order to properly care for Evie, though a few pranks may or may not transpire 🤭
I love a good enemies-to-lovers mixed with some forced proximity! The chemistry was highly palpable between the main characters, which made for an incredible romcom! This book was delightful and had so many fun moments. Evie, of course, instantly won me over with her adorableness and Darla, with her spunky personality, kept me cracking up. I was also a huge fan of Kelsey’s friend group and I can’t wait to read more of their stories! . . . Thank you, Amanda, for allowing me to read an arc of your new book 💗
Are you ready for the cutest romcom there ever was?!!! Because Amanda sure pulled it off!!
I have fallen in love with this new series that centers around 4 girls who met at a Taylor Swift concert and became best friends and family for life. And their bond is so special and tight!
Tyler and Kelsey are stinking adorable! Their enemies to lovers relationship was the best! I loved how they annoyed each other, but deep down they secretly enjoyed it!
They were constantly thrown at each other (gotta love that Darla!) and slowly those walls they had put up started to crumble. The growth of these two over the whole book was beautiful to watch.
Tyler was a dreamboat!! I loved how he was a pediatrician, and then the way he took care of his niece…I was smitten from the start! He had the biggest heart and loved his family with all he had!
Kelsey had so many layers that made me love her so much! Even though she endured a very toxic home life growing up, she rose above it and went after her dreams. She was determined, kind, strong at heart, with a dash of mischievousness!
The prank wars were one of my fav parts! They definitely had some creative come backs that will keep you laughing! The tension and banter between these two was on 🔥🔥!!
This book just had it all..the hilarious moments, the banter, the chemistry, cute dogs, a mischievous goat, prank wars, found family and the BEST grand gesture I’ve ever read!!!!!
I can’t wait for book 2 and getting to hang out with these amazing gals and see what they get up to next!
My favorites: 💗Evie + Winston 🦮Their banter 💗The blind date 🦮That Darla! 💗Prank wars 🦮Pumpkin mistletoe 💗Goat + pants = 🚫 🦮Hot Brown sandwiches 💗Doctor Nicknames 🦮HE takes care of her🥹 💗Swamp Tush 🦮The broom closet 💗The “first” date 🦮THAT GRAND GESTURE!!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Growing up with divorced parents, Kelsey witnessed more arguing and competition than unconditional love. Finding solace in her four-legged friends, she dreamed of one day opening a dog rescue. Despite working tirelessly, her four jobs just aren’t cutting it. So when her intolerable but wealthy neighbor offers her a job nannying for his niece, she has no choice but to take it. Will Kelsey be able to set her hatred for him aside to reach her goals, or will working together open her eyes to how great he truly is?
If you are a female, fan of Taylor Swift, and enjoy a good romcom, consider this is a must read!!!
I Knew He Was Trouble is the first book in Amanda Schimmoeller’s latest series, Sweeter Than Fiction. From the dedication it is evident that Amanda is a hardcore Taylor Swift fan. Not only will all of the books in the series be named after a beloved/ popular song; but the entire series follows a group of four best friends (the Long Live Girlies) as they navigate life and love.
Kelsey and Tyler were the perfect couple to kick off the series. I loved witnessing their love story unfold as they went from a one-sided enemies to full fledge relationship. As an avid romance reader I can safely say that Tyler is one of the sweetest MMC ever written. He exhibited extreme patience and gentle caretaking skills!!!
Be sure to read this book for: - Pediatrician MMC - Dog Loving FMC - Enemies-to-More - Nextdoor Neighbors - Prank Wars - Found Family - Supportive Female Friendships - Cozy Fall Vibes - Taylor Swift References - Adorable Dog and Niece
Special thanks to Amanda Schimmoeller and ABS Publishing LLC for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
I cannot wait for the second book in the series to release. It will follow Mallory’s fake dating, celebrity romcom titled, How He Got The Girl!!!
I saw this book all over Bookstagram and knew I needed to read it and am so glad I did!
Kelsey can’t stand her neighbor, mostly because he blares his loud music every morning and wakes her up. Tyler isn’t necessarily a fan of Kelsey and her roommates either. So, when Tyler needs to care for his niece for an extended amount of time, Kelsey steps in as Evie’s nanny, and well, you know…. You’ll just have to read to find out!!
This book was adorable in every way! I loved Kelsey & Tyler and their enemies to more storyline. I loved their fun banter, their prank war, darling Evie, Kelsey’s cute roommates, Aunt Darla the meddling matchmaker, the goat scene, fun Taylor Swift references, Operation: You Belong With Me, and the two cutest characters falling in love!!
A few of my favorite quotes:
“Ah, ah, ah. There you go again.” He leans down and tips my chin up. “My eyes are up here, Anderson.”
“The sparks between us are enough to light up an entire fireworks show. And I don’t mean the good, lovey-dovey, romantic-tension sparks. We’re talking aggravating, you-get-under-my-skin, I-want-to-wipe-that-grin-off-your-smug-face level of sparks.”
“I’m not sure what it even is right now. A hatemance? A flirtationship? A deep-seated attraction? But whatever it is, I’ll do everything I can not to mess it up.”
“Love is easy. It’s people who make it hard.”
“I thought Tyler was trouble from the beginning, but—whether I like it or not—now I feel like I’m the one in trouble… of losing my heart.”
I've loved all of Amanda Schimmoeller's royal romances, so I was very excited to read her first true romcom... and she absolutely nailed it! I absolutely adored Tyler and Kelsey--- the banter, the chemistry, the prank war... I loved all of it! These two neighbors definitely didn't start off on the right foot, but when Tyler finds himself as temporary guardian of his niece and hires Kelsey as a nanny, they start to see that those initial impressions might have been a little off. Tyler's flirting had me smiling every single time! And when he takes care of her when she's sick? Yeah, that's always a weakness of mine. Throw in a meddling relative, some animal shenanigans and a sense of found family, and I really couldn't help but love this story!
If the title didn't give it away, this is definitely a book (and series) that is perfect for all the Swifties out there... but if that's not you, don't count it out just yet! While I enjoy some of her music, I don't consider myself a Swiftie and I found that while the references were definitely sprinkled throughout the story, it also didn't feel like it was overwhelming. It was the perfect amount for fans to connect with... but also not so much that non-fans can't enjoy it too. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series!
I Knew He Was Trouble is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
A book series of Taylor Swift-themed books named after songs? Sign me up! This was my first read by @authoramandaschimmoeller , and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved the reason these next-door neighbors were enemies and how Tyler went about making things right. The matchmaking roommates, co-workers, and great-aunt added so much charm. The prank war was hilarious, though I personally wished it had started a bit earlier.
There were so many sweet and tender moments between Tyler and Kelsey. One of my favorite themes was how Kelsey had a “found family” that loved and supported her. They were there for her in times of need, but she also had to learn to lean on them.
The banter, tension, and chemistry between Kelsey and Tyler were absolutely sizzling! I can't wait for future books in the Sweeter Than Fiction series—hopefully, Tyler’s sister Tess gets her own story too! 🤞
Some of my favorite moments: • The bird text messages • Dance pickup • The perfect date • Grocery store scene • Waterfall hike • You Belong With Me moment • All. The. Banter.
I had a hard time narrowing down my favorite quotes/scenes. I could have filled 2 whole posts with my favorite quotes. I restrained myself and only put a few! It's been a while since I've highlighted this much of a book.
*Thanks to the author for an advanced copy of I Knew He Was Trouble. A review was not required.
You ever just click so hard with a writers books that no matter what you know whatever they write is just instantly going to be a favourite…that’s how I feel everytime I pick up a new Amanda Schimmoeller book. I’ve been such a fan of her Royal series since the day book 1 came out and I knew that this new series would have a lot to live up to. But of course it was absolutely fantastic as expected.
She has such a way of building delicious chemistry between her characters that you find yourself absolutely grinning as you follow their back and forth. In this one Kelsey and Tyler walk that delicious line between love and hate and banter so hard you feel like you’re getting whiplash from the back and forth and you enjoy every minute of the ride.
You’ll love this one if you love mild Taylor Swift references, a hilarious prank war, a sexy doctor taking care of his adorable niece, an adorable meddling great-aunt, he takes care of her when she’s sick and supports her dreams, grand gestures and supportive female friendships.
Thank you to the author for an advance review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Ahhh! This story was simply amazing. I loved so many aspects!! The prank war, how Tyler and Kelsey just needed to actually talk to each other, Aunt Darla and her matchmaking ways. I loved the friendship represented.
Favorite Quotes: “When you’re with the right person, they should make everything in your life easier. You know you have someone who always has your back and is willing to fight all your battles with you and for you. They should encourage you in your dreams and help you make them a reality. Don’t swear off love quite yet. Keep your heart open to the possibility. Love might find you, even if you aren’t looking for it.”
I could spend a lifetime trying to find another woman who drives me so insane but also makes me laugh and feel more than I ever thought possible. As Evie would probably say, Kelsey is my unicorn.
In this heartwarming romance, Kelsey has been annoyed by her neighbor, Tyler, who blares hip-hop music at 4 a.m. every day. However, their relationship takes an unexpected turn when Tyler asks Kelsey to be his niece’s nanny, and the two begin to connect. What follows is a sweet and funny love story, full of a matchmaking great aunt, prank wars, a lovable dog, and close friends who feel like family. With tropes like enemies-to-lovers, found family, and him falling first, the book captures the magic of growing closer through shared experiences and taking care of one another. The banter, close-knit friendships, and Tyler’s tenderness towards Kelsey make this a delightful, 5-star read, and the perfect start to an exciting series.
This was a cute hug for all of us Swifties. I enjoyed the tension between Kelsey and Tyler, especially when they finally see each other differently. I know everyone says enemies to lovers is difficult to buy in contemporary books but I thought this worked well.
I like the friend group and can see the other stories coming. I also thought Evie was really well written - dialogue with a 5 year old is hard, they often come out either sounding way too young or way too old but this was just right.
I Knew He Was Trouble is a sweet, funny story about a girl who had nobody but her 3 friends in life. She’s working 4 jobs, trying to save for her dream. But her next-door neighbor keeps getting under her skin. This clean romance will have you kicking your feet and giggling. I love the found family and watching the characters grow. I cannot wait to see what else happens in this series! This is a perfect read for Swifties but still good if you’re not!
This book was absolutely ADORABLE!!! I loved having the privilege of ARC reading this one and look forward to the next books in this series!!
If you’re a swifty, you would LOVE a LOT of the things about this book!! So many Taylor references that don’t go unnoticed!! If you’re not a swifty, like myself, don’t worry!! There were a bunch of references but it never felt overwhelming or like it was too much!! I was still able to enjoy the references without being a fan (Swifties don’t hate me)!!
Tyler Reed ladies and gents… he is the perfect blend of witty, flirty, caring, and loving!! I loved him from the very start until the very end!!
Kelsey Anderson; I really loved seeing the growth in her character!! I loved her stubbornness but also loved seeing her soften and break down her walls throughout with her friends and Tyler!!
Overall, highly recommend this read!! It was super sweet while also including delicious flirty banter!!
3.75⭐️ ARC Review: This was an overall very sweet romance. I liked the MCs. They were fine. Maybe a bit dull and lacking in the chemistry department, but other than that, very sweet. I did really like the friendship/found family between Kelsey and her roommates. It seems like this is going to be a series where each book stars a different friend. That makes me excited because all the friends were so cute. I loved that they live together. I love a good friend group, and these girls and their dynamic were so sweet. I’m excited to see what the other books will be. We do get a sneak peak of one of the girl’s POVs at the very end of this book, and I’m intrigued.
This book also had its flaws. Most glaringly. The pop culture and Taylor Swift references. Oh my goodness they are getting on my last nerve. Why does every independent author like Taylor Swift!? Stop putting it in your books! Yes the title is a Taylor swift reference in itself, but man. I swear the last 3 books I read Taylor Swift was mentioned. There were a few moments I thought were unnecessary to the story. The old folks home were parts I skipped over. There was also a very random partial sort of third act breakup that was completely unnecessary. It’s almost like it was forgotten about and thrown in there last minute to create some conflict. Lastly, there isn’t really any plot. I mean Kelsey is hired to be a nanny for Tyler’s niece, but that’s the extent of it. I mean is that a plot? Maybe it is, but I think I need a more elaborate plot to be considered one.
Now to end on happy notes. I did still like this book. I thought the Phineas and Ferb reference was so perfect. I loved that. And the pranks wars. I am not a prank wars fan usually, but they were cute in this one. Quite harmless and not completely immature like some pranks are in other books. Very real life pranks I could for sure see even myself doing. Duckies and flamingos are pretty harmless lol.
Nothing special. Cute and sweet. I would recommend.
*Thank you to the author, Amanda Schimmoeller, for the complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts opinions are my own.

4.5 Stars—🤍Thank you @authoramandaschimmoeller for the gifted copy of I Knew He Was Trouble!
This might be one of my new favorites from Amanda! I just had the loveliest time reading it.
Kelsey and Tyler had great chemistry, I loved their playful banter and how they pushed each other’s buttons.
I’m also a huge fan of friendships playing a large role in books and this group of friends was amazing. Supportive, fierce defenders, kind, and hilarious.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series. ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆/5 Steam: kissing
I adored this book and it is officially my new favorite by Amanda. I loved the connection between Tyler and Kelsey. There’s some playful banter and a prank war that doesn’t get out of control and lots of good forced proximity moments. (*note: I do consider this a sweet version of enemies to lovers not a full blown enemies mode). And I will say I LOVED how the preconceived notions were handled between them.
I loved watching Tyler and Kelsey interact and constantly found myself wanting to pick up this book. It’s light and sweet and brought me some joy. The chemistry was FELT and gosh do I love good kissing scenes.
There was a minor quip I had about the third act and with Evie. Do five year old’s have homework every day and ballet dance solos? Because that didn’t quit click for me. Otherwise Evie was really cute and a fun addition to the story (and maybe we get her mom’s book too??).
ANYWHO. A delightful read. I love a strong female friendship group. The Taylor Swift references are fun and I look forward to reading more in this series.
I don’t really care for Taylor Swift, but if that was the only problem it wouldn’t bother me.
This was difficult to get through. I wanted to DNF so badly, but I bought this one because I saw a raving review on IG for the second book in the series and I’m a sucker for reading books in order. Also, it’s set in Louisville and I graduated from UofL many years ago. Now I’m not sure if I want to buy the follow up. I still might, because I love the celebrity romance trope (I’ve experienced this trope personally) but unfortunately the bar is low. The writing was ultra simplistic and often cringe. Neither character was likable. FMC was unrealistically hateful & MMC was way too cocky. There were too many pranks. Then there was the zoo fiasco, the underwear drawer, the broom closet, & the mom cameo. Like, what did I just read?! Lastly, you can tell the author doesn’t have kids because the 5 year old little girl in the story reads like she’s MUCH older. That bothered me too.
I love clean stories & I love that the author is a follower of Christ. I do hope she continues writing because we need so many more Christian authors! That’s why I’m writing this review. I do hope that she reads this and takes it as constructive criticism. I truly hate being harsh, but just being honest. God bless. ❤️
This is when I wish we could do half star ratings. This isn’t really bad enough for a 2 but I’m not sure it’s strong enough for a 3. But I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and round up.
I wish closed door authors understood that closed door doesn’t have to mean lack of chemistry. But the chemistry is lacking between Kelsey and Tyler. The conflict between the two is basic, at best. She “hates” him for waking her up every morning with his workout music. Dude. He cannot know he’s doing that if you never say a word. Quit being passive aggressive and letting dogs pee on his yard.
I appreciate Tyler’s sister had a rough divorce but who the hell just ups and leaves their kid with their brother for three months with a 1 day notice?!?! I’m all for following your dreams but maybe don’t offload your kid in the blink of an eye.
Kelsey, you need therapy. Glad you get it in the end but woof. What a shitty way to treat somebody who has been nothing but amazing to you.
This book is fine. Nothing special. Not sure I’ll pick up the second book.
This book was a delight. I loved the transformation of Tyler and Kelsey's relationship: enemies to friends to something more. The prank war was cute and the little kid Evie brought a spark of joy. Things I liked: Kelsey's difficult background, Her found family in her strong friendship group, Tyler's protectiveness and him caring for her when she was ill. There was a high swoon factor, especially when they finally kissed. A really enjoyable read.
Kelsey cannot stand her neighbor Tyler but when he begs her to take a temporary job as a nanny to his niece, she can't resist the salary he offers that will allow her to achieve her dream of opening a dog rescue. But as Kelsey gets to know Tyler she realizes her assumptions about him were all wrong and struggles to tamp down her growing attraction for the man.
Tyler may have been initially attracted to his neighbor Kelsey but once it was clear she hated him, he stayed far away. But now she is in his house every day watching his niece and not acting hostile anymore, that attraction is in very real danger of becoming something much, much more.
What you'll love: enemies to lovers neighbors dual pov nanny to his niece flirty banter the pumpkin festival he takes care of her he falls first the blind date THAT KISS chemistry & tension Darla Taylor Swift references loyal friends/roommates prank war
I am IN LOVE with this story!! Oh my word, I could not put it down!!! I am a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope, especially when the enemies part is built on a tower of preconceived notions and assumptions that were all wrong and oh, how I love to watch that tower crumble as they walk that fine line between love and hate!!
Tyler and Kelsey were sooo fun together! Can we please have more romcoms with prank wars?? So fun and flirty and seriously made me laugh out loud, and can we talk about that blind date scene? I literally cackled!! Every page with them together was my favorite and the chemistry and tension was so perfectly done as they transitioned from enemies to friends to more. That first kiss filled me with butterflies and had me smiling long after the book was finished.
This was my first read by this author and I can safely say that it will not be my last! This is the first book in a new romcom series and I will absolutely be picking up the others. This was a 5-star worthy romcom and I think I just found a new auto-read author!
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
I KNEW HE WAS TROUBLE by: Amanda Schimmoeller @authoramandaschimmoeller
-I give 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“True love doesn’t stand in the way of your dreams. It helps you reach them. It helps you surpass them.”
-She’s never needed help from anyone, and she certainly doesn’t need it from the infuriating doctor next door…
-My friends, I Knew He Was Trouble is such a wonderful enemies to lovers, next-door-neighbor romcom with sizzling sparks of chemistry but with no spice! It is simply a delight! It is filled with such humor, delightful banter, fun pranks, endearing characters, and has beautiful themes weaved throughout. Watching characters grow, choose to be brave, and let their walls come down was heartwarming. Seeing dear characters encourage, and support dreams, with helping them become a reality shines bright in this story! Happily ever after are possible with opening hearts to the possibility and letting love in. This is a cute story worth the read, and will have you looking forward to more to come!🙌🏻📚🩷
“I’m always going to catch you. You don’t have to need me. You just have to choose me.”
“Love may start as a feeling. Something all-consuming and so happy you could never imagine feeling differently. But staying together is a choice. Feelings fade just like the sun disappears below the horizon every even-ing. But we must consciously choose to be together-to love each other-just as faithfully as the sun rises again each morning.”
-I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
“Real love—unconditional love-is never-ending. It’s accepting someone for who they are, down to their core. It doesn’t have any strings attached. It’s loving someone without expecting anything in return. That’s how I love you. Beyond all reason. With every fiber of my being.”

Review:
I have adored Amanda Schimmoeller’s royal romances and really loved her jump into the romcom sector of writing! This book was so good, fun, and funny! I loved getting to know Kelsey and her friends/housemates and I am so excited to find out more about each of their upcoming stories! I loved Tyler and his family (sister & niece) and seeing how they fit into the friend group’s life as Tyler was their neighbor. I loved the hate to love push and pull between Kelsey and Tyler and that they didn’t quite see it was happening until they were already in too deep. And the pranks Kelsey, Tyler, and Tyler’s niece pulled on each other were hilarious! I also loved getting to know Tyler’s aunt and seeing her try to matchmake him. I can’t wait for the next book!
Summary:
Kelsey is a nice person to everyone except her infuriating neighbor Tyler. Though with his habit of playing his workout music loudly every morning, causing her to wake up at an undesired hour is a certainly good reason to hate the man. However when Tyler desperately seeks her help in caring for his niece while his sister is away, Kelsey is willing to temporarily put that hate aside for the paycheck he’s offering. With the opportunity to downsize on how many jobs she’s holding at once as well as increase her savings exponentially, Kelsey is thrilled to have a chance to finally see the horizon when it comes to her dream of owning her own dog rescue. Only Kelsey didn’t realize that having this job would give her a view of a different Tyler than the one she thought she’d known all this time. Nor that she’d be in danger of falling for him…
Tyler would do anything for his family, even if it means taking on his niece last minute so his sister can go away for work for a few months. Only with the short timeframe and only a few people he knows of that could even possibly help him care for her while he’s at his own workplace, Tyler finds that he is desperate in finding a nanny. So much so that he’s even willing to reach out to the one neighbor who clearly hates his guts. Now with the more time Tyler and Kelsey have overlapping into each other’s lives, Tyler finds that he actually looks forward to and enjoys his time with Kelsey. And the fact that his niece adores her is just another point towards his heart falling for her…
