Irish McConnell would give his immortality for a taste of Claire Montgomery. But the Fangs of Anarchy leader can’t risk his biker club, his vampire clan, or his tenuous truce with werewolf Gannon Dodd, Claire’s pack alpha—and her intended mate. Nope. Vamps and weres don’t mix, and Irish has managed to keep that in mind for five long, lust-filled years.
But now Claire’s gone and done something really, really (really!) bad, guaranteeing her doom if she’s ever found out. Truce be damned, Irish won’t leave her unprotected, despite the fact this is one murder-filled bundle of trouble he doesn’t need.
And unfortunately for Irish, the trouble’s just beginning…
This is a rerelease from Dakota Cassidy/Nina Blackman so please be aware of that. That having been said I liked this very different take on the paranormal and how it fits in with humans or not as the case seems to be here ! Essentially paranormal creatures have been outed and due to widespread panic new territories have been created forcing the paranormal community to resettle where they are told or face prison. These new communities teeter on war constantly as there’s a shortage of blood for the vampires and in Rock Cove it’s the werewolves who supply black market blood at a huge cost to the vampires. Irish McConnell leads his biker vampire clan and treads a fragile peace with the vile werewolf alpha Gannon Dodd who is waiting to mate with the cute and ever so slightly irritating town librarian Claire. That shouldn’t be a problem except it really is as Irish would dearly like to take a bite out of Claire himself. So imagine his shock when he discovers that Claire has killed her alpha! How can Irish protect Claire if she won’t let him ? I really enjoyed this and Irish is such a sweetie, trying to be big and gruff and yet hiding his integrity and past. Claire was likeable too and I so loved watching her let her wolf side come out. I think the humourous conversations between the pair only added to the fun but not everything is completely resolved as this book ends so I’m definitely going to read the next book Outlaw Alpha with Liam the oh so grumpy vampire.
Dakota Cassidy was a miss for me up until I read Fangs of Anarchy: Forbidden Alpha (Bundle): A Werewolf / Vampire Romance. As I said during my review of What's New Pussycat (Wolf Mates #2), I don't have high expectations when reading a fluffy book I expect a thin & simplistic plot. So when a book fails as miserably to meet my low expectations as the 2nd book in the Wolf Mates series I completely ex out the series & in most cases the author.
Fangs of Anarchy: Forbidden Alpha (Bundle): A Werewolf / Vampire Romance kept reappearing as a recommendation on my audible & amazon account. In a moment of absolute boredom I purchased it as my gym book. For the sole reason I thought the title & cover art was funny. (I.E Son's of Anarchy TV show) I didn't notice it was a Dakota Cassidy book until I reached the 50% mark & by that time I was absolutely hooked. This book was hilarious I enjoyed plot the characters & the witty banter between the wolf & vamp. Also I love the vamp's name, Irish is so yummy.
I give this book 5 stars & I look forward to reading Fangs of Anarchy 2 - Outlaw Alpha. I must admit I am not a fan of surly vampire Liam McConnell but I did so enjoy meeting werewolf Freya Ashe in this series. She seems smart & hopefully it's a hit. They don't have it available in audible but it is currently available for free on Kindle Unlimited.
I do recommend this serial. I rate this 5 stars.
Disclaimer: I must admit the possibility my rating may not be accurate due to my listening to it on audible. The narrators may have contributed to such a high rating being they did such an excellent job. I should also disclose I had all 5 books available to me in this bundle I didn't have any cliffhangers this also positively impacted the rating.
Love this author's sense of humor and storytelling. Excellent!
I read this in parts, but the entire bundle is FREE today on Amazon! Don't know how long it will last, but grab it while you can. It's a fun read...and steamy too! A sexy vampire biker who gets it on with a snarky werewolf, there's suspense, action, good times, sizzling sex, and best of all it's FREE! Enjoy! http://amzn.to/1yt7UBI
The world building left quite a bit to the imagination. I am going to give that a pass because I realize this was a short serial.
The vampires... The biker vampires. I really liked the vampires.
The werewolves for the most part reminded me of stupid gym dudes on steroids and maybe a little cocaine? They were a bit insane and almost all of them seemed to be alcoholics.
Claire is a sarcastic and fiesty. The chemistry between Irish and Claire was super hot. I love me some alpha man. The humor and snark made me very happy.
Now don't get me wrong, I really liked it and all but somethings just made little, to no sense. Vampires who have kids but can't cry, pump blood, or breathe... how do they talk if the can't inhale and exhale? The fact that garlic and holy water hurt them made me roll my eyes for some reason. It is just so cliché. The whole vampires and werewolves are enemies thing was confusing because it went back and forth so fast. One minute there is this vampire who is all I had a ton of werewolf friends before the humans somehow segregated us. (Also... don't really know how this happened... very vague and confusing. I mean how did they know who was human and who was supernatural? Was there some kind of blood typing or registry? Who would consent to this? How did I get so far off topic? Where am I?) And the next few pages were all I know vampires and werewolves are enemies but I want your smoking hot body? Obviously not quoting here. There was a silly little explantation about how they wanted to breed so their pack wouldn't die out or whatever but it didn't really track for me.
I am a bitchy and nothing pleases me...
So while I really liked this book and the smutty-ness made so very happy, I can't give it 5 stars. After reading part one I bit the bullet and my little funding and brought this bundled set, and I defiantly was not disappointed. Claire will get to the bottom of her dead 'mates' business after she found out how dirty he really was and she got Irish for help but she keeps pushing him away where she finds more information but she found out she needs Irish more for his help but for his understanding and his love for her, to help her get through the tough crap she got caught into. After getting evidence to clear her name of murder and helping Irish's sister come clean to Irish for her part in all this did Claire realize how much she loves Irish and what she will sacrifice to have him openly in a relationship where they dont have to hide their love for each other. Next book or next branch is Liam Irish's brother and Claires best friend Freya and they help look for the demon that is causing all hell for the Fangs and the weres, that I cant wait to read.
Just OK for me...the suspense plot was good and the connection between Irish and Claire was pretty hot, but I had problems overlooking the constant, sarcastic and irritating banter. Turning everything into a joke and making snide comments doesn't turn me on, quite the opposite in fact.
I also have some questions about the vampires. They are technically dead so how can they reproduce. They have actual families and siblings, so I think I'm missing something.
The whole biker tag was over-exaggerated as well. IMO, they are not real MCs.
I was expecting your typical shape shifter romance type of book, but I have to say that this was so much more. The characters were well written and the story flowed well. It was a very pleasant read, the love scenes were explicit but not crude and the plot was different from many of the usual paranormal romances on the market.
I've read more 'edge of your seat' mystery books, so I'd classify this more as just a romance (although it is more than a 'just' book). The book was a little short for my liking and there were opportunities for scenes to have been more detailed and descriptive. At times too much was left for the reader to infer/assume - this was particularly true for the last few pages of the book. However that is more of a personal preference, it certainly didn't ruin what is a good read.
This can be read as a stand alone novel but the background story continues in further books. These are books that I will go on my wish list for future purchase.
Irish and Claire are total opposites and should hate each other. He's a vampire, she's a werewolf. A murder mystery breaks down the barriers to their love in a world where humans know supers exist but are wary of them. Well-written tale by Cassidy that leaves a cliffhanger to justice but wraps up the HEA very well.
This was a good story. I liked Irish and Claire and their story was enoyable.
In this story, paranormal creatures have become public knowledge. The government felt they paranormal beings were dangerous to the public and moved them all to areas vacated by normal humans and separated from the humans by a neutral zone that they aren't supposed to cross or they get sent to detainment camps.
Claire is a werewolf that works as a librarian. She used to be a librarian before she was forced to move to her new town so she was happy she at least had the job she loved. Unfortunately, the shifter laws allowed the local pack alpha to chose his mate (with no choice on the female's side) and he chose Claire. The Alpha is a gross and stupid man so Claire would rather die than have to mate him.
Irish is a vampire. He used to be a lawyer that lived in New York and made loads on money but now he's the leader of the local clan of vampires and head of their motorcycle gang. Irish's parents fought the government when they subjugated the paranormals but Irish was tasked with raising his younger sister so he had to be good and stay out of trouble.
In this new world, vampires and werewolves aren't allowed to be involved. Before everything changed, intermixing was allowed but now that the paranormals were confined, they have to breed with their own kind to ensure the races are continued. Claire is promised to the alpha of her pack and even though there was a strong attraction between her and Irish, they can't be together. When the story begins, Irish has just found Claire with the body of the alpha that she's apparently just killed. Irish decides to help her hide the murder since he knows she must have had a good reason for killing him.
Unfortunately, since Claire has made her dislike of the upcoming mating to the alpha very obvious, the alpha's brother goes after her with a vengeance as soon as they realize he's missing. Irish attempts to protect her but things are difficult. Claire had reasons for killing the alpha, very good ones, but she didn't have any proof and decided that she had to keep things secret until she got the proof needed to justify her actions to the council. While she's working on gaining the proof, Claire and Irish end up coming together but knowing they shouldn't and can't do it again...but they do. There's much drama as they try to work things out but they do get (at least most) things worked out and end the story starting a HEA together.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Claire and Irish and am glad they managed to find a way to be together (even if I wasn't thrilled about how they managed it). The story was a bit confusing but the seeming holes in the story mostly got cleared up in the end. I think this story just wasn't quite my thing and I had trouble getting into it completely but I'm not sorry I read it. The story itself was good, overall. :)
This is quite a twisty tale that involves the Fangs who are the members of the vampire biker group and the Dogs who are their werewolf counterparts.
Forced into seclusion by humans these two groups have done their best to form a paranormal community that allows both to more or less to coexist fairly peacefully.
Under the new Were Alpha however that peace has become harder to maintain and now with a new development may be shattered altogether.
In the midst of this Fang leader Irish finds himself embroiled with Claire who is the town librarian and unfortunately for him the Were Alpha's intended mate.
That point is thrown out of the equation unexpectedly and in it's stead a forbidden romance between the two finally begins.
The question is whether Claire and Irish can manage to stay alive when their clandestine affair is uncovered, the way in which that loophole is found is almost as predictable as is the murder mystery that leads them to finally take a chance on each other in the first place.
The whole population of the supernatural world are segregated from the humans and forced to cohabitate together by the Government, in a town called Rock Cove. Naturally vamps and weres don't mix, but Irish McConnell, clan and Fangs of Anarchy biker club leader and the feisty librarian were, Claire Montgomery, have other ideas. Former corporate attorney, Irish, never wanted his position, but when his parents are jailed he takes the reins to protect his people, including his brother and 13yr old sister. Gannon Dodd is the pack alpha and president of the rival club, Road Dogs, who provides the synthetic blood to the vamps. Feelings are bitter and fear for the future resort to old fashioned ways in mating ceremonies. So when Claire is chosen to be the greaseball's, Alpha's mate, things go from bad to worse. A great read, with brilliant characters, written in the third person, with humour and some hot, steamy sex scenes, and a different twisty storyline. Really enjoyed it but I felt the ending was too quick and rushed. 3.5*
This book started right off with a gory murder of the leader of the werewolves. Claire, werewolf librarian, takes responsibility. Vampire leader, Irish McConnell wants to help Claire but she won't tell him what happened. They really are attracted to each other but in the crazy world where humans know they exist and have them segregated from humans. Werewolves and vampires cannot mix and really can't fall in love. Gannon Dodd the pack leader of the werewolves is into some really bad illegal stuff. Finding the answers to everything puts Claire's life in danger more ways than one. I really liked it and it was fun and exciting to read. Vampire & Werewolf hot romance.
So much goodness with this serial, the first of it's kind I've actually read! Perfect mix of love, suspense, humor, good vs evil, and some hot, hot scenes that will make you scream for Irish! Can't wait for the next installment!
What a fun serial! I read them all together once it was all released, but this would have been fun waiting between serials as well. Claire is quirky and fun, and Irish is definitely hot, and together they make a fun pair, even if they aren't supposed to be together. Look forward to the next book!
I normally steer clear of serials...hate waiting for the next installment. Really liked the bundle set...and looking forward to Freya and Liam's story. Hopefully it will be released as a bundle set too.
really enjoyed! it is exactly what it means to be. Basically lots of fun, good plot, engaging characters, interesting alternative reality. One of the best genre of paranormal romance/erotica. recommend
This is a start to finish book, no clumps of info here and there and wait for it.... your at the end. Found the chapter titles a little funny, but hey the characters have a 'sarcastic' humor vibe, which is great!
I downloaded Forbidden Alpha as a free novel from Amazon. This book was well-written, and a fresh look at the forced relationship between weres and vampires was a refreshing change of pace. The characters seemed one-dimensional at times, but the plot carried this book, so it was hard to put down.
I loved the uniqueness and quirkiness of this story. Awesome storyline and terrific characters, kept me on my toes throughout. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading.
I loved the collection!!!. Couldn't put it down. The forbidden love between the two clans and packs was well written. Can't wait to read the next installment of this series.
