Timber Valley Pack #2

Purr For The Alpha

Rate this book
Cats and dogs don’t traditionally get along, but there’s one pussycat that Alpha shifter Ty Battle wants to set a-purrin’: sexy lynx shifter Karen Padfoot. Unfortunately, he’s got a terrible reputation as a player, and she’s scorned all of his advances after one interrupted encounter a year earlier.
When she comes to the Battle compound to plead for the release of her troublemaking father, who stole from the Battle’s warehouse, he’s finally got his chance; she’ll have to work for him as a waitress at his nightclub to pay off her father’s debt. Karen may be hissing and spitting mad, but if Ty has his way, he’ll collar this sexy kitty for good. Unfortunately, someone else wants to cage the feisty feline, and Ty’s the only one who can keep her safe. Will Karen let her barriers down and trust the sexy bachelor with the bad boy reputation before it’s too late?

Georgette St. Clair writes hot, sexy romances starring Alpha heroes. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark), but her shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

Georgette has worn many hats in life: newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order).

When she’s not rescuing fur-babies, she spends her days in a fantasy universe where she nudges her smart-mouthed, take-no-gruff heroines onto paths which will set them on a collision course with true love.

Maybe my tastes have just changed too much for me to enjoy books like this but an overbearing man who basically tells the heroine this is the way it's going to be drives me crazy! Also I get that the heroine didn't want to give up on her dad since he is family but at some point you have to look at what he is doing to your life and your siblings lives and say enough is enough and it took WAY too long for the heroine to reach that decision. She was a doormat for her dad. My favorite part of this book was the younger siblings at the camp. I gave it an extra star and brought it up to 2 stars for those scenes.

In the right moment

This author is the queen of strong females supporting their family and taken nothing for themselves, well until the perfect alpha comes along and forces the issue. I enjoyed how the author kept me on my toes with the continuing threat of the bad guys while bringing a brand new couple to the forefront. These two were absolutely steaming when they were together, of course a lot of that was due to misunderstandings rather than that fantastic connection. By the end I was in love with this family and I can’t wait to see what comes out of the valley next.

“All healers have one blue eye and one green eye. I must be gay because I’m a healer and only girls are healers. I just tell people I have ADHD so I can do whatever I want. I can make water boil. I can read minds and am telepathic. I can start fires with my hand. I know you’re not gay you check out girls all the time. We can’t have kids because they will be mutants like me who can boil water with her mind.” Some of my favorite parts of this book. Also they have magic now. It just keeps getting more bizarre. Fever dream like plot, and I have whiplash. So much miscommunication. Also her name is Karen, and that speaks for itself. I just needed to brain vomit that.

Short read, well written and probably not as bad as I took it. The story and maybe even the hero had no chance from the beginning : a guy, knowing he was immature and untrustworthy at that time, hasn't forgotten a girl who stood him up in years. He stalks and plans the blackmail of that woman because he wants in her pants (some of you probably felt his love for her at that time already - I didn't). Her stressful situation is well known to him and her passion (despair) gets him hot... Well, what a sweetheart...
Very, very predictable the story continues along my favorite route: smirking, spanking, a woman without control (because she doesn't know or like him, but he is HOT), smirking again, no trust but of cause BDSM, smirking, embarrassing - voila: love.
The length of the novel is no explanation, some authors, and obviously reader, just think hotness is a good substitute for dialoges and a relatable development of ROMANCE. This book has a frustrating mix of both: very rocky start, good dialoges and romance in the second half and strange "easy" end...
I like the author and many of her stories, but I get a hormonal bimbo as a heroine, as often as I get a strong, self-reliant one (no, I don't mean those ridiculously prickly I need no one extremes - luckily there is a wide middle ground) in an comprehensible, developed story. It's part of the journey of discovery.

This is an enjoyable read, but to be honest not quite my cuppa. It's not a serious read and is very light hearted, it does have mild BDSM elements, and is fairly short. I did read it straight through, and I did enjoy it fora change and would read more from this author. I'm just not into human shifting out of clothing and into an animal form. Extending their nose and using their special since of smell to detect crime..not that that wouldn't be a very handy tool in my line of work...would be unique and fun.

I did feel it was a light hearted read, not to be taken seriously. I would have liked more detailed sex scenes, to make it a bit more steamy for me, and I just felt it concluded far to quickly. It felt like the book was making big things of healers being kidnapped and then it seemed to be brushed off. Maybe this will be covered in another book...will that go looking for this special team St up by the humans?... Does Leah have more powers than she is letting on to?. I would love to have seen the Lynx, wolf Cubs...but again, is this for another book.
It was a fun enjoyable read and would read it again when life gets heavy x

Done with this series. Delete. Delete. Delete.

I like to get several books in a series that way I can read them at once, so it was my fault for buying them without knowing if I'd like them. But I dislike this type of alpha male, I'm man so I will be your teacher & you can be my little pretty thing on my arm. "You will belong to me, and I will be proud to show you off and let the world know it. You will surrender to me and let me be your guide". FU scumbag.

DNF @ 12%

Maybe I’m getting picky in my old age (or because my TBR list is like 10 years long) but any book that starts with the Hero needing to coerce the heroine into doing his bidding is automatically crossed off my reading list

Especially when he is doing it for punishment because the heroine blew him off twice - even though he was just looking to get laid and had no care for the heroine’s feelings

Moving the reminder of the series to my ‘Not interested’ list

I'm still not a fan of the public humiliations for the female. Why would that be a good thing, I don't get it... But it's light and consensual, so I let it go. Here is the start of a longer overarching story, so I will look at the next book and see if it still had this light dom/sub theme. If so, I won't continue.

Karen, a lynx shifter and lawyer is trying to get her father out of jail in Timber Valley. She comes up against Ty Battle who she went to school with. Karen's reputation has been ruined by her father and so without funds she is forced to settle for what Ty offers. A get out of Jail card for her dad if she works and lives with him for a month. Of course he is hot hot hot and he wants Karen. There is good chemistry between them. One of the downsides of Serial books is that you get interested in the characters and they lead you into the next book. Yeah - I'm in for a couple more.

The story is more detailed in this book, compared to the one before- which felt slightly more shallow in some ways- however, it was introducing the world & the timber valley pack. Therefore in this book the story instead could be worked on past it's conception and the world grown. I see that now. These are good reads for me before bed, as a woman it can help me sleep sometimes. The audible voice actor surprises me with the ability to give off the idea of male voices as well as some nice details for added effort. Not the best paranormal romance but not the worst either

Since the whole series is free on Audible and these books are super short, I may try another 1-2 ,see if things get better...but this book was a disappointment for me. I like enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity...so I found the premise appealing. But the execusion didn't work for me. I can tolerate the occassional sexy bossyness, but not the lack of respect...What happened at the club wasn't hot,it made me angry! The overall plot was so and so. However I found some of the side characters interesting.

Ty and Karen

This is the second book in the Timber Pack Series and it is a standalone novel but is part of the series. The reader meets the Padfoot family: Karen, Riley her brother, and younger sister Leah. Ty has been loving and lusting after Karen since high school. Ty finally corners Karen after ten long years. The results are very interesting for Ty Battle, Karen Padfoot, The Battle Family, and The Padfoot Family. Ty and Karen do get their HEA.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)

After growing up as the kids of the clan's resident thief, it was hard for his kids to shake the stigma.
Although Karen had gain her lawyer qualifications, that stigma still clung to her.
Ty had seen her a year ago, but Karen slipped away from him then, but he had done his homework this time around, he was determined that she wouldn't get away again.

this is the second book in the Timber Valley and even though it started off kind of a slow story it had more than one story going on through it now it did in the first book too but I didn't really realize it in this book I really stuck out that there was two things going on. now I was more fascinated by the second story line that I was the first but it didn't matter it was a great story Maxine narrator of course did an excellent job she's the reason I picked these books up.

Purr for the alpha by Georgette St clair. I am loving this series, yes the whole aphasia mates things yes. Swoon. Cringe. But it's the storyline besides the romance that really has me gripped. Karen just spends her time cleaning up messes of her father and then when her father basically betrays everything for his selfish desires. And we officially learn about the bad guys. Omg and when the whole shifter community stopped the van and rescued the kids I had house bumps

Good story!

I have very quickly become invested in this well written book/series. I have purchased most in ebook and audio formats. They are fairly quick reads. The characters are likeable and very well rounded. The storyline is well paced and very engaging. They will definitely keep you one clicking! Well worth your time and money!

Enjoyable read but I just cannot understand why Karen hadn’t cut her father out years previously to protect her siblings.
Ty was a bit of a controlling ratbag but I did like how he moved them away from the problems they were facing.
Hope Evangeline gets hers.

It was a good book and I would have loved the story if I didn't start with the 5th book. Since I already knew the ending it kinda ruined it for me. But otherwise it was great. My recommendation is to start from the first book and not the end.

It is a good story overall. It is not really kinky and not all about sex. The 'heroine' has her own bite but really has more growle than bite. It is a perfect book, if you just want to chille, but not really exiting.

23 I’m afraid that the rating has more to do with the fact that I was able to finish it after a very bad run of DNFs. Light and frothy with the typical sort of heroine and a typical hero. And a fair amount of smiling.

The fact that he’s been obsessed with her since high school and now wasn’t going to let her get away again after she bailed on him twice. This was the definition of a miscommunication trope. Her father was a grade A asshole.
